Liam smiled slightly, assuming that the sleeplike breathing patterns meant...well...that Crow had...gone to sleep. He didn't enjoy the breathing against his neck but, hey, he'd get over it. In time, he felt himself drifting off, and then everything went away.

~Part Fourteen~
Ike sat in his theatre seat, feet kicking anxiously against the floor. God damn it, it was 7:30! Of all days, closing night should have started on time! At least in his mind.
Damnable directors.
The entire gang (sans Rabid and Björn, who were on stage and in the pit, respectively) had been forced to gather to watch Rabid in her darling play, which she'd been working on for quite a long time.
And, finally, they'd gotten ticket.
Liam mumbled and growled something about 'supposed to be MY part, damnit'.

"So, uh, what's this called again?"
"Rent."
"Ah. And it's about...what?"
"Dunno. Stuff."
Julian nudged Crow in the ribs. She looked up and stuck her tongue out.
"It ain't opera, so I don't see why you're bitchin' 'bout it," she said, putting her hand on top of Liam's beside her and giving him a comforting glance that didn't quite meet his eyes.

"Actually," Clemmie said suddenly, finally able to use her vast amount of research, "It considered an opera, and it's mostly about the spread of AIDS through the homosexual community in the late eighties."
Ike stared at his little sister, wide-eyed.
Björn waved from the pit, a rather large and obvious form below the stage.
"Ee! Bid man!"
"Shhhh..."
"So et-cited!" Emmy said, grabbing Ethan's hand with glee, "Eeetan et-cited too?"

Crow nodded, interested.
"Neat," she said. Julian looked fascinated, and watched the stage. Ethan, who'd been straining to see Björn, waved back enthusiastically before realizing his other hand was being held captive.
"What? Oh, um, y-yes, v-very," he said, stumbling over his English, realizing for some reason he couldn't feel his arm to try to remove said hand. He smiled at Emmy shyly, directing his attention back to the stage to try and distract himself.

Emmy giggled and blushed, folding her hand in her lap and turning away slightly.
The curtains suddenly opened to display a darkened stage, each main character slowly back-lighted in a raising spotlight. The pianist began the first chord of the first song, and the cast began to sing, including a very happy-looking Rabid on the far right of the stage.

Julian leaned forward in his seat, watching in apt attention.
"Hell, but she looks pretty," Crow murmured quietly beside him. Julian nodded.
"She does," he said, smiling. He'd never heard her sing before, and he could plainly figure he'd like to again. "Not bad."

The play continued as such with appropriate uproarious laughter and shouting, mostly coming from the men in the audience, of course.
After all, Rabid in lingerie was about as close to straight as RENT got.
Occasionally, Lima would lean over adn whisper something to Crow, degrading the a** who had gotten his part after he'd gone blind, and then pay rapt attention once more when 'that song with people humping that ends up a death scene kinda', as he would call it later, began to play.
Time passed relatively quickly for the people actually performing, bows were taken, speeches were given, and then Ike stood.
"C'mon. Let's meet her outside."

Crow, who'd comforted and gentled Liam through every complaint, got up and dragged him ********, that's was awesome! Wish to high hell I could sing like that," she said cheerfully, following after Ike. "C'mon, Nahal. Close your mouth 'fore a bug flies in."
Julian, who'd choked and stared down at the floor for the first few moments of Rabid's...revealing...performance, followed after, bumping into Ethan as he tried to remember how to walk and breathe at the same time.
"Coming," he said, a little feebly. Crow just laughed. Ethan, who'd reacted the same but hadn't had the strength of will to look up again, coughed and followed after like a schoolboy who'd been caught watching a dirty movie.

Emmy was twirling and singing very off key...not to mention in phoenetics. She ignored the weird looks she was getting and followed Ike out to the front of the building.
"HEY!" a male voice suddenly shouted, and Ike felt himself pulled around by the shoulder.
"Hn?"
"Aintcha gonna shut yer girlfriend up?"
"That's my sister."
"HAH! Shoulda' figured. That yours, then?" He nodded.
"...that's Ethan."
"f**."
"WOAH WOAH WOAH. Who said ANYTHING about--"
"Ah! A midget too?!"
"HEY!" Liam yelped, trying to throw a punch and instead recieving one.
"HEY! BREAK IT UP!" Rabid shrieked as she ran from the side door, bodyslamming the man, "WHAT THE ******** ARE YOU DOING?!" The man looked at her in fear.
The woman clearly did not know that her eyes had gone lime green, her hair was beginning to poof dramatically, and her fangs were, for one reason or another, very much longer than usual.
Another change.
"JEEZ! CRAZY b***h!" the man yelled and ran off.
Rabid laughed slightly and poofed her hair.

A growl rattling in her throat, Crow patted Ethan's shoulder comfortingly. He glared after the man, fingers curling into fists, and turned away. Julian, in the middle of a nasty remark, trailed off and raised his eyebrows slightly. Huh.
"Heya, Rabid," he said. "Good save."

"Just be glad it wasn't me," Björn said as he approached, shaking his head, "Some people..." He paused, and then added.
"Rabid, your h--"
"I noticed, thank you."
"Uh...alright?"
"Mnnnfmnh. Let's get home. See if Len's awake. You know, it probably wasn't smart leaving her there in the first place."

"I hope she's feelin' better...poor thing practically fainted when she went to bed," Crow said, undoing her door's multiple locks and kicking it open. "Len, hon, we're..."
Trailing off, Crow stared at the floor where her daughter lay prone, curled in a ball. Her feathers, natural and metal both, had all molted off and been replaced by longer and sharper ones. Crow ran and tripped into the room, skidding on her knees next to the girl.
"Len. Len, honey, wake up," she said, paranoia getting the best of her.
Lenore stirred, turning over and blinking.
"I fell off the bed," she said, voice sleepy.
Julian and Ethan, waiting in the doorway, exchanged looks.
"Um...Crow...might wanna get her something that...covers?" Julian said, turning discreetly away and putting a hand over a blushing Ethan's eyes.

Ike was clearly oblivious to the fact that Lenore's clothes were six sizes too small.
"OHGODLENLOOKITYOUOHMYGODYOU'RESOPRETTYLENLOOKOHMYGOD!" he rambled, running to her and taking his jacket off, handing it over.
"C'mon~" Rabid half-sang, hooking Julian's hand with one finger and beginning to walk back toward her room. It was the perfect opportunity, what with everyone goggling over Lenore.

Still oddly sleepy, Len smiled up at Ike.
"Heya, Ike," she said, smiling vaguely as she clumsily wrapped herself in the jacket. "I know you."
"Huh? Oh...uh, 'kay, coming," Julian said. He looked over his shoulder once or twice, then followed after.
