"Try, it's all I ask" Davrick said, turning and beginning to walk away from her. By now the ship would probably be loaded and ready to set sail. All he would need to do now is endure a boat ride.

Tiana watched him go, confused and oddly enough, forlorn. Why was he so interested in her? Why ask this of her? The chances of her getting permission to go to Esthar were slim...Well, perhaps she could simply ask to go to FH. Wait, why was she even considering this?

"Slim?" He called back, laughing. "Not if they knew who told you this...they would send SeeDs..or..perhaps an initiation mission?...That's how you Gardener's work, isn't it? They would not be as blind as to leave the matter ignored." And with that he quickened his pace down to the docks.

Tiana shook her head as she watched him walk off. The headmaster would want something more solid than a chance statement...but she could try nonetheless. She sat down on a bench and rested her chin on her palms. There was a sort of dangerous attractiveness about him...but the risk! She could be exiled...lose everything...and the idea of joining Adel should that happen...fighting for the sorceress against former friends and allies... The idea appalled her. Mind in a turmoil, she got up and went to go fetch her chocobo and ride back to Garden.

Davrick stepped aboard his ship and placed a hand on a side rail. "Zarga...make for Esthar..as fast as this vessel is able." "Yes, sir." Zarga said, saluting the Seer. Davrick cast his hood back and raised his chin as the ocean breeze came in contact with his body, disturbing his raven black hair. "Zarga...you are one of my most trusted officers...and you knew Banshee personally..diving into your memories has given me a sense of closure. You can expect to rise in ranking swiftly, as many will be executed soon...for their heresy...against the Sorceress' hand of action." He finished coldly, turning back to the open ocean as the ship began to set sail. With his back turned to Zarga he muttered, "And may their punishment prove painful.." Officer Zarga saluted the Seer's back, and stepped into the captain's quarters, finally allowing thoughts to flow through his mind that he had guarded against so often in fear. It was a skill very few had time to learn..

Back in her dorm, Tiana paced restlessly. What to do? She felt so confused...checking her equipment she strode out to the Training Area to try to clear her mind of this turmoil, if only temporarily. Driving her blade mercilessly into the creatures that attacked her, she struck and struck and struck again with little effect on her inner torment. "Damn him..." she muttered as she fought feverishly. "Damn him for doing this to me..."
Once she was finally exhausted, she went back to her dorm and collapsed onto her bed into a troubled sleep.

A large raven landed on Davrick's shoulder as the ship approached land, heading for Esthar. Soldiers lined up on the deck ready for departure as Davrick walked along their ranks, the raven cawing from its perch on his shoulder threateningly. Davrick spoke after a brief pause. "No communication is made when we reach the docks. Get the job done, and we can all rest easy for a few days." he said, tiredly. The soldiers nodded and waited for their arrival.

Some days later.....
Tiana strode into Balamb town, Shadowchaser ghosting along silently at her heels. The young woman's eyes flicked about the town as she made her way down to the docks. She sat down and patted the elkaven's head, thinking of what had happened the last time she'd been here.

She heard a grunt from behind. Rifkin walked over and sat down beside her. "What brings you down here?" He asked, looking over at her.

Shadowchaser growled as her mistress jumped slightly. "Hey, Rif," she said sheepishly as she soothed the wolf. Tails twitching, the canine subsided, though she still kept a wary eye on Rifkin. Tiana smiled slightly. "Silly girl...anyways, I needed some fresh air, and some room to think." She looked out at the ocean. "Had a lot to think about recently." She glanced back at Rif, wondering if it was safe to tell her friend...about him. Would he think her a traitor for not reporting Kalo immediately?

"Easy, pup." He said to the creature, turning to look at the ocean. "Oh really?..What about?" Rifkin asked, laying on his stomach and placing a hand in the water.

Tiana just looked at him a moment, wondering if it was safe to tell him. She didn't want to cause anyone harm...and she didn't know what Kalo would or could do. "I.........." she began, then stopped, tortured by her dilemma.

He looked at her for a moment and then laughed. "Well if that's the way you feel, you don't have to tell me anything." Rifkin shrugged, cupping his hands in the water and raising a handful of the sea water close to his eyes. "I'm here because I'm vacationing. I always come to the docks when I'm able...It reminds me of home. When I was very young, my brothers and sister and I built a raft..our goal was to reach the Balamb docks. We sailed in a circle for two days before we were rescued by a transport ship." He laughed as the water trickled out of his hands back into the sea. "My mom was furious at us. She cried the rest of that night..we all thought because she was so mad, but now that I think about it..I think it was tears of joy that we were okay." He looked up towards the horizon, then back to her.

She gave him a confused look, then laughed. "The way I feel? Nonono...that isn't it," she said, shaking her head. "It's just, it could be dangerous...to you...if I told you." She smiled and laughed as he related the story. "Sounds like you had a nice mom." Her face fell. "My parents were too...before it happened."

Rifkin nodded thoughtfully. "If it's dangerous for me to hear...it's surely dangerous for you to know, I would think..And what happened to your parents?" He asked, sitting up.
