I know System of a Down sounds rough, but this thread proves the sound of a song doesn't have anything to do with the meaning beyond the hard core "screaming" that people hear. If only enough people took the time to think about the lyrics they hear. Cigaro perfect example as pleanty of people have mentioned, it doesnt have to do with their c**k, but ego. sure its offencive but hey it does have meaning. Though this song isnt on Mesmerize, the song that touched me the most was Boom! I mean their opinion on war and the video was just, I don't know how to say it but, it just connected with the people. I'd like to see some pop stars do that with their mellow music that isn't 'scary'.
I think Black-Eyed Peas did well with "Where is the Love?" with *gaspbarfgrowl* Justin Timberlake, but then again, I'm a fan of Black-Eyed Peas' innovation that they have, even if it is pop music.

True, there are alot of pop mainstream bands that I DO enjoy listening to, black eyed peas, outkast, gorilaz, etc... but System hopefully will never fall in with these, system is inovative, the others are not...

To me, Ciara and Beyonce sound the same. They sing about the same things over and over again... Oh no. Not that song. Nelly and Tim McGraw... BAD COMBINATION.

I think that's what I get for having a sister who likes that stuff.

3nodding it's better to like music for what it means to the people wh o listen to it and to the band, than prepackaged stuff that's good for a beat to dance to, and that's it.

I dunno, alot of System's political stances bother me. the whole Bush thing for example. It seams like EVERYBODY has jumped on this "we hate Bush" bandwagon for little or no reason beyond what other people have told them and it just bothers me. If you have a truly genuine reason to hate a political figure, then fine, but most just hate somebody just because everybody else does and it bothers the hell out of me...
gonk I know what you mean! accept its the opposite around here they all love bush because "the church" tells them to.. sad

I think Revenga is about one of the band members asking a girl out (probably named Celentine) and he's a gets rejected very rudely. So he gets sinister and decides he wants to take revenge on the b***h. He also goes on to say what could've been and should've been. I think this means that whoever asked this person out, asked before System of a Down got famous.

Soldier Side: Just a little preview of Hypnotize's "Soldier Side" song
B.Y.O.B: War
Revenga: Revenge on being shunned away..."She laughed, and she said, go away!"
Cigaro: Egotistic people (COUGHPREPSCOUGH) who think they're better than others. "MY c**k IS MUCH BIGGER THAN YOURS!"
Radio/Video: This song was made by Daron, who was pissed by hearing his voice played over and over on the radio
This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song: Some people say "This song makes me feel like I'm on drugs"...it was reversed for play. DON'T EAT THE FISH is a metaphor for DON'T DO DRUGS
Violent Pornography: It's about the crap that comes on TV...violence and porn
Question: Questioning the afterlife...We die because of two idiots' sin..."Sweet berries ready for two"
Sad Statue: Our generation is passing, and we'll all go down in flames...
Old School Hollywood: Baseball and steroids...
Lost in Holywood: Pretty self-explanatory once you hear the songs..The madness and corruptness of Hollywood...
