What Ego Brain means to me;

There is really no way to know if this experience we call life is real, or if any of it exists at all. It could just be a dream, where we have created this world, a manufactured conscious.

Man made shame, is the pressure society puts on you to conform, if you aren't like the rest, you should feel ashamed. It could also be you not living up to the standards you've created for yourself. Or that you are ashamed of how you feel.
It seems like it is shameful to show your emotions, like love. Rain is always associated with sadness, maybe the shame of hiding your love is saddening?

Could be referring to the first verse, in a way saying, this can't just be a dream, it is real, I can feel it.
"Watch my world dissolve, and pretend that none of us see the fall"
I feel this is pointing out how we can observe some thing bad happening, and just pretend it isn't there. Ignoring the problem in hopes of making it go away.

I think this means that you don't have to fight alone, there are people that will help you. Even though you were previously ashamed of how you felt, [love] you realized that this is the key to your happiness.

You're just a person fighting to get by in this world, absorbed into your feelings and letting them get the better of you. You're self destructive.
"In spite of the pain, ego brain."
You are to stubborn to accept help [egotistically thinking], even though not doing so hurts.

My boyfriend told me today love prevails over all, so it made me think, i realized this about the song;
"As I turn to sand, you took me by the hand, and declared that love prevails over all."
I think in the end he sees whats truly important,
Your world will dissolve if you value material things

I'm not sure that Mr. Jack is about police brutality exactly... to me it seems more sinister than that.
When I listen to it it feels more like there's some shady FBI guy watching them in his car, like they do in movies.
And then at dawn your house gets raided and you're never seen again.
I haven't actually listened to the song in a long time so I'm not sure, but it's what I remember thinking.
