"Up two flights of stairs," she said bluntly as she paused at the base of an old and generally un-safe looking stair case. "Stay near the wall."
Relique began to climb moments later, one hand lightly running against the musty and dusty wall as she went. Due to the lack of light and the near pitch-blackness, it was almost impossible to see that the banisters were missing and that there were missing steps and landing boards. Cobwebs hung from invisible places on the furthest outer perimeters of the stair cases, as well as any high corner and the door-less entry way on the second floor.
Sixty steps later, Relique finally stopped climbing and turned the grimy handle to the equally grimy door in front of her. It swung in and with a small 'click', a light switch was flicked upwards and the third floor, which consisted of a long hall with four door branching off of it, exploded into light.
Compared to the rest of the house, this part was one notch away from being considered pristine. The floor consisted of dark polished cherry wood that then stretched up vertically halfway up each wall before being cut off by ornate molding. A long runner rug of dark maroon, cream, gold, and dusty rose stretched from the entrance to the end of the hall. Old fashioned light fixtures shed a hearty light over walls, causing their color to become more fire-light gold then their original creamy hue.
The Sorrow stepped in and then to the side, closing the door only once Ennui fully entered.

He followed fairly close behind feeling the grim and sticky cobwebs all about them. A few times he lost his footing but found it just as quickly making not upon his return trip down to pay closer attention to that particular space.
Once they had finally reached the landing he waited as Relique opened the door and with a soft click lights flooded the otherwise dark confines. What he saw at first was the room and had been about to comment on it but a sudden sizzling in his eyes distracted him. Stepping foward he covered his eyes not at all pleased that he wasn't warned.
"Turn it off!" He shouted suddenly a voice not of his own as he quickly found the light and turned it off. Only then did he calm down and collect himself. After a moment he turned back on the lights but was now blindfolded as he could not handle full bouts of light in such a manner. Perhaps later he would adjust and try again. "My apologies ... I did not mean ..." going silent he took in a deep breath to calm himself wondering where such an outburst had come. "It is a nice place you have. I only wonder why you would choose such drab means to confine yourself?" He questioned deciding to change the subject.

At the shout, RelĂque startled and put her body against the door, her hand still holding the handle. She "stared" in Ennui's general direction in a state of surprise and confusion. She had never heard him raise his voice before; he had always struck her as being a very mellow being... could she have mistaken his personality? However... she thought for a second that that voice had been heard before...it seemed vaguely familiar...
"...Are you alright?" she asked tentatively, semi-fearing that he'd have another sudden outburst. His apology and attempt to change the subject fell on deaf ears and were ignored.
Relique needed to know things about someone if she were going to show them more of her home and sanctuary... despite the fact that she rarely ever told another about her own self.

With no reply to his attempt to change the subject he knew that there was no getting around it. However how was he to explain something he didn't have full understanding of either? "I am ... not sure." He replied in all honesty. He had never remembered having an outburst like that before. Nothing tended to bother him in the first place. A few annoying moments in his life here and there but nothing to put him in an overly excited state. And even as he recalled what happened he realized it wasn't him who had spoken. For a brief second he felt himself being pushed aside and controlled. Watching from a far away dark place he could see himself and yet do nothing. Then almost instantly he was standing there with his blindfold on and questioning himself. What had just happened? "I do not know." The concern in his voice was genuine this time as he slowly reached for the blindfold letting it come from his eyes. Opening them slowly the light that filled his eyes hissed and sizzled and instantly he felt that same tugging. Before his body could act for him he closed his eyes and returned the blindfold to his face. The tugging stopped as did the burning in his eyes. Sighing he turned away from Relique... "I should leave." He said simply deciding perhaps it had not been such a good idea to come after all. What was going on with him?

"You don't have too..." She said after a moment or two of silence. She moved away from the door, her fingers laced together loosely as she let her violin and bow hang against the front of her, and took a few small steps where she only guessed him to be (and was thankfully accurate). She had heard the concern and uncertainty in his voice, and all though she admittingly was no longer one to really offer help to others, she felt herself s bit compelled to. ... and honest had no idea why. "If you want help... I..." she said, her words failing a bit.

"Help me?" He questioned. Such a foreign reply offered to him. He had never asked for nor expected anyone to help his current situation. While walking the world in darkness was fine with him the idea of actually walking in light... was it possible? Not to worry about the pain? Not to wonder if that uncertain feeling would take over him again? "I do not think it a good idea. Perhaps..." he reached for the door but only stopped when Relique came into place. Instead his hand had found purchase on her shoulder. The contact both scared and excited him... shifting he moved back slightly not familiar with close contact. If he were any other person he probably would be blushing but being himself he could only remain stoically still. "Beauty..." the words left him before he could help himself but again they were not his own. "... You excite me." The mocking voice was unrecognized but even so Ennui was not in his own body at this time. For what seemed like forever was only a fraction of a minute as he had been surrounded by a dark aura. When he came to he was on his knees a cool sweat having accumilated along his brow. "What happened?"

Relique, who had moved backwards, when he had gone into the last little episode and fell to his knees, came forward again. The spot on her shoulder where his hand had rested moments before still tingling lightly. "You said the word 'beauty', then that I excited you...and then you fell," she said, her voice soft and her words precise. However, she had noticed something... something that many others probably would've surpassed simply because they weren't used to noticing difference. Continuing to "look" down at him, she spoke again. "Your voice though... it was not of your own. It was different; more cold and..." she shook her head s little. "It just wasn't you.

"Did I?" he questioned unsure of what to think. He did know that something HAD happened. Sighing he remained on the floor but only shifted enough to position his robes more serenely around him as he "looked" away. "I do not know what has come over me. I... feel there is something I must learn." Pausing in his words he reached for the blindfold once more and realized his body began to respond in a way he was not familiar. As if being pulled away he removed his hand away from the fabric sitting silently for a moment. It was then he turned his attention to Relique. "You asked if I wanted help..." At this point he went silent knowing she would pick up on what he was asking without really asking. Normally he would not care what happened to him or those around him. As long as he could live his life how he choose then there was no need to wonder about trivial things. But somehow the issue at hand, the blackouts had peeked a curiosity in him he had never felt. What exactly was going on? The only other times that he had blacked out where in the past and usually devestating events had transpired because of it. Was it possible those events were connected to his black outs? Only then did his mind wonder to a long time ago... constant experiements, bright blinding lights, and endless darkness.... what was it all for? Why did he have to go through such things only to so easily be allowed to leave his once imprisonment? "I wish to do some research. There are events in my past that I have long left undiscovered." This was spoken more for himself but it was partically an invitation for Relique to assist him.

Relique nodded her head after a moment of silence. "If that is where you need help, then that is where I will help you," she said, but then added, "but not at the moment, for there is little time left to do anything this night..." In Relique's mind, day would only prove to give them difficulties and intrusions.
She lightly knocked her free hand against his shoulder, silently offering it to help him up.
(( I think we should have the whole research bits done in a new RP now? And it could be based like... two days after this RP? [ relique'll tell him when and where to meet her in her next posty] ))

[[Yep definately]]
Ennui nodded reaching his hand out to take her offering of help it both symbolized his willingness to trust... for now but that was even pushing it. "Very well..." He spoke as he got to his feet. "I apologize for the uneventful visit to your dwellings..." There seemed to be what was an awkward smile that crept along his lips but it would more than likely be missed by the other blindfolded Clockwork.

"It's fine," she replied, and let a small smile, too, creep over her lips... and like the other's, it too was most likely missed, though Relique did not know for sure.
She moved to the door and felt around for the handle for a second before grasping it and pulling the slab of wood open on its hinges. "In the evening of the day after tomorrow, meet me at the broken fountain in the area where the Great Fire burned. From there we'll continue on." She moved to the side of the door to allow him passage.
"And remember, stay close to the wall... and do not tell others of this place." Her ending tone held a serious note, despite its normal soft surface and silver ring.

Ennui only nodded though it was likely missed. He wasn't one for gossip so her secret was safe for the most part. After all who could he tell? As he made his exit he paused for a brief moment the only notice that his robes had stopped flutter against the floor. Perhaps he had wanted to say something but words escaped him currently. Instead he shifted again and continued out of the room careful of the stairs as he exited the building and made his way home.
[THE END.. because I said so.]
