Hearing Miley's mumble, Noru held back a smile. Apparently the boy knew something about the locks here. When he took the sword from her, Noru noted the way he held the sword. It certainly didn't seem to be too heavy for him, which meant his endurance, or better yet, his strength would be fine and easily worked upon.
Seeing him hold the point up, Noru lightly pushed the tip of the sword down. "When you fight, you don't always have to hold the point up. A sword isn't necessarily meant for spearing somebody." She laughed at the pose and grabbed the blade of the sword, taking the blade from him, careful not to cut herself. Picking up the sheath that had been next to the blade, Noru quickly made her way towards the counter of the store.
The shopkeeper seemed to be taking quite a while, and as Noru made her way towards the other group of customers, she stopped and gestured behind her. "Are you coming?" Without waiting, she stood next to the others and placed the blade - now sheathed - onto the counter. She stood there silently, not one to interrupt or join into conversation. Her upbringing had made her a good public speaker, but whether or not she chose to use those skills was another matter. Noting the topic, she held back a grimace. The demonic arts was not something she was abject to dealing with.

((The last player I'm purposely waiting on should have internet back tomorrow, and hopefully a profile and post soon after.))
Miley, though admittedly hesitant to go near Hock's counter, wasted no time in scampering after the lady. He couldn't believe that she was really going to teach him. Or at least that's what it looked like, if she was going to buy a sword that she probably didn't need, and that she had had him test out first... He stopped at the lady's side and with wide eyes looked up at her, at the sword, at her once more, and then at the counter. This was awesome.
Or maybe it wasn't for him? It was a big thing, after all, to buy a sword. Especially for kid she didn't even know. Miley bit his lip, bursting to ask but not daring enough to actually open his mouth.

Noru, after setting the sword down on the counter, noticed that Miley's eyes were wandering from the sword, to her, back to the counter, and once more at her. An astonishment filled his eyes and she wanted to shake her head. Apparently he understood that swords were not something you bought off of a whim. Well, not in these parts at least. First off, they cost quite a bit of money, secondly, they were like pets almost. You grew attached to them. Noru said this, her hand unconciously sliding down the blade of her sword.
Here, money wasn't the problem for her. No, not with her family background. And considering the fact that she was buying this sword without the boy's parents consent, wherever they were, just emphasized the fact that she lacked responsibility. Oh yes, quite a bit of responsibility. Yet Noru had no problem with it. The boy had gone out of his way to question her. He seemed persistent, and with practice, he could be quite a good swordsmen, if Noru had the patience for teaching, which she hoped she did.
Looking down at him, she noticed him biting his lip. If she bought a sword for every child who asked her, she would be a poor woman indeed, even with the amount of money she was capable of retrieving. Yet Miley, like she said seemed persistent. Noting that he seemed anxious to ask her something, she lectured him with a slight impatience to her voice. "What is it that you want to ask? If you don't ask me anything and you keep holding it back, you're never going to learn anything. So I suggest you ask me now, before you bite your lip off."

Colby smiled and listened to Carilee rattle off her long name as if she had done it hundreds of times before. The long-winded speech, that was simply the girl’s name, made Colby grateful that her own was so simple and that her parents’ weren’t that long either. Demonic Arts thought Colby, that can’t be the easiest of things to learn. Whatever sword the girl was looking for, Colby wouldn’t be surprised if she couldn’t find it at Hock’s store. It was a nice shop, but something like that…they were probably very valuable, few, and far between. “The weather is a bit hot don’t you think?” She asked, knowing full well that it was easy to forget the temperature when some one was in a shop as nice as this, where there were cooling spells cast upon it.

Jarrick sighed as Carilee went from answering his question to commenting on the weather, though he perked up though at the mention of the demonic arts. Frowned upon by his father and once by his mother, the subject had always been a mystery to Jarrick, though an infinitely interesting one. Until that moment, he’d met only those who didn’t understand the arts, but now he was faced with an actual practitioner.
He considered pointing out that it was probably more than the need to acquire supplies that made that field less than savory to some, but decided that it probably wouldn’t change her opinion in the slightest. Though, he had always just assumed that magic of that sort just took a wave of the hands and a few words to use. Remembering his manners despite his excitement, Jarrick looked to Colby, "Yeah, it is hot out today, though it's far better than cold in my opinion." He redirected his gaze at Carilee “So about these demonic arts,” Jarrick started, far more animatedly, “Just how long have you studied them? And who’s able to use them?” He doubted learning an art like that was simple, but he supposed that if there was a chance for him to do anything with his life, he'd take it.

"You're really going to teach me?" he asked quietly, trying to keep his voice from squeaking. It had all been so easy he couldn't quite believe this was really happening. And to be honest, he was almost intimidated by the idea of accepting such an expensive gift from the lady. What if he messed up and it meant that she'd wasted all her money? Miley almost felt guilty just thinking about it.
Carilee blinked and didn't say anything for a moment. "I'd rather not sweat myself to death, personally. Not that freezing would be any better. But yes, demons. Anyone can, if you're careful. And talented. There's no room for mistakes, you see," she said, pushing her glasses up her nose again. "If a demon gets out of control, well, the wielder is usually the first one to die," she finished matter-of-factly.

Noru looked down and shook her head, slightly annoyed. "Of course I'm going to teach you!" she hissed. "You don't think I'd be buying a sword just to give it to you and say: Here good luck! I'm not that irresponsible, give me at least some credit." She sighed and eyed the sword on the counter once more. She didn't know what had gotten into her. It wasn't something she normally did. After all, she did enjoy her personal travels. No other responsibilities to worry about. But perhaps, it would be nice to have somebody to teach.
Stretching, she couldn't help but hear the other conversation that was going on beside them, between the three individuals. A conversation about demons. Noru scowled. Demons were a problem to deal with. Like the girl said, once they got out of control, well, people were bound to lose an arm, a leg, or their life - whichever came first of course. Noru had spent some time helping caravans and towns and only a few times had she had to deal with a demon. It was not something she liked to do on a frequent basis. No, not at all . . .

Jarrick gulped as he listened to this, disconcerted not only by Carilee’s warning but also by the tall lady waiting by the counter, who had apparently heard something of the discussion and was scowling as a result. Until then, Jarrick had known little it anything about the negative points of magic. Though bothered by the idea of losing control, Jarrick wasn’t quite put off yet. To some extent, he was eager to see his limits and figured that taking risks like that couldn’t be that much worse than living his life out as a cobbler. “I guess that those risks aren’t exactly issues for a skilled student of the demonic arts such as you,” Jarrick said, smiling slyly, “Controlling demons can’t be much of a worry if you’re looking for things like this Sword of Bestial Summoning. In fact,” he went on, reaching the part he’d been building up to, “You could probably even handle a pupil or two at this point.”

Colby’s eyes darted from Carilee and Jarrick. She didn’t know too much about magic. Other than the fact that it that it could both be helpful and difficult. It was obvious to her that both of them had a much better understanding of that subject. So she kept her mouth shut and paid very close attention, maybe she’d learn something that would end up being important later on in her life. One never knew when random bits of information would be useful. In the midst of the conversation Colby’s gaze floated over to the women with a large sword, and her young charge. The child seemed to be getting a sword, and awaiting the gift in a state of excited disbelief.

Li came through the door to the shop cautiously. He liked to just see some other swords than the one he had. It was a hobby of his so to say. He glanced at the people for a moment and walked over to a corner to see the swords, and hopefully keep any attention cast on himself away. He picked up one of the displayed weapons and studied the sheath. After satisfying his curiousity, he replaced the sword to its former location. He turned again to the people in the shop, most nearing the counter or already there. He took a moment to note all of their features and thought he saw someone familiar, but was mistaken. He returned to his corner.

"Yes ma'am," Miley responded without thinking, again a bit intimidated even though he was fairly certain now that the lady was nicer than she'd first seemed. He hoped he wouldn't make her mad too often. By all the gods, this was going to be fun. Miley wanted to run outside and jump around and brag to his friends about it. Only then they might ask to be taught too, and maybe she'd rather teach one of them... Or one of the sneakier boys might tell her about his mom. "Where are you going first?" he asked cautiously, plans to avoid the necessary people already coalescing in his head.
Carilee blinked and stared for a moment as Jarrick suggested she teach. "Why would I bother? Seems like an awful lot of trouble for all that you don't get much in return." Her eyes drifted toward the counter for a moment, checking that Hock had not yet returned.

Keldan, still lounging around the counter, listened with interest at the conversations taking place around her. A girl who was interested in Demons. Facinating. Keldan personally doubted that Hock had a Beastial Sword of Summoning or whatever it was. The only reason he checked was to look like he was really trying. Plus it trapped other customers inside, giving them even more time to browse and look at goods. Joy.
Perhaps more facinating was the older teen (or young adult) who apparently was going to teach some little kid how to use a sword. She glanced at the sword the woman was purchasing. Nothing too fancy. Therefore, Keldan concluded, it must not work too well. She still liked thinking that fancier swords hurt more, contrary to previous situations she had seen.
"Hey, you wanna teach me how to use a sword?" Keldan asked, grinning at the swordswoman. "I could certainly use some lessons. And a sword." She was only partially joking; she really could use a sword, and perhaps some lessons. But her question was asked more out of boredom than need.

Noru turned around as another individual entered the shop. Watching as he picked up a sword and glanced at it, she quickly lost interest. After all, he was probably just browsing. He looked over at everyone and a look of familiarity crossed his face and was almost instantly lost. It was at that moment that she recalled Hock had locked the doors. Or said he had. Perhaps they only worked from the inside out. She sighed. If she wanted to leave, she should've taken that moment to do so. Oh well. She was still busy waiting to purchase the blade for Miley.
Glancing down at it, she was filled with a small sense of approval. It was a simple blade, yet, with a good owner, it was liable to do damage . . . quite a bit of damage depending on how well it was weilded. She thought about her own sword, a monster in comparision. Despite her slight frame, she could still hold it. It was hard not to notice, her sword, even thought it looked fairly plain. However, she did have the hilt wrapped with tattered cloth, making it look rather ruggad. Not to mention half the sword was covered with the leather ties that kept it to her back. In her mind's eye, she recalled the light - almost invisible etchings along it's blade. They were complicated markings, markings she was absolutely familiar with. Her thinking was quickly pulled away by the woman who had addressed her.
Glancing up, Noru shrugged her shoulders. "I'm quite short-tempered." Seeing the girls age, she shook her head with what she hoped was a smile. "You might be better off finding someone who won't be shouting at you. Plus," she added, gesturing towards Miley," I think I've already taken on one over-enthusiastic child whose blinded by dreams of glory and talent." She said more to herself, than anything," Not to mention I'm constantly on the move. Might make it difficult there."
Recalling Miley's question, Noru looked down at him. "First, once we've gotten this sword, I'm going to the inn, where my room is, and a warm meal and a bed, and I'm going to sleep. And then I'm leaving first thing in the morning. If I have time I might pick up supplies on the way back." As an after thought, she added, "You're welcome to come with me, if you have no where to stay."

Keldan chuckled at the swordwoman's reference to her little student, who seemed thrilled to be getting a sword.
"So you're gonna be a great swordsman, eh?" she said to the kid once the other woman had finished speaking. "One that they'll sing great tales about, no doubt." Keldan winked at him.

Colby thought over what Carilee had said. Having a student really was a whole lot of work, sure you got some one to do practically anything you wanted, simply, because they wanted to be like you. But at the same time a teacher would constantly have to stop and explain stuff to some one who didn’t already know. “Do you know anyone who would be willing to teach the arts?” She asked, not for herself, but for Jarrick as he seemed quite interested in the whole thing.
