The Artic Fox will not start to shiver until -94 degrees F. It can survive in the cold to -112 degrees F

The term 'in two shakes of a lambs tail' comes from when lambs are born they have extra long tails. When sheep deficate they cannot move their tails out of the way like other animals, so they just shake the poo of their tails, thats why lambs get their tails docked.

snakes and fish can not blink because they have no eyelids. they instead have modified scales which (at least in snakes) will shed off everytime they grow a new skin to allow them to get larger.

The term "in blue" refers to snakes when they are fixing to shed their skin. It is called this due to the bluish tent over their eyes from the old eye scale pulling away from the new eye scale. Do not ever try to handle or approach a snake who is in blue. they do not see well when in this state and thus are easily adgitated or scared and are more likely to strike out at you. Even if they are accustomed to being handled

girraffs tongues are purple so that they do not get sunburned when pulling the leaves off trees.

all genetic cross breads of the big cats are steril, and thus can not have kittens of their own.

opposums have prehensil toes on their back feet to allow them to grip branches. Unlike in cartoons adult opposums can not hang from their tails , in stead they use their strong tails to grip branches while they are climbing to help steady their balance.

a large group of kookaborrows can get so loud that it can cause perminant hearing damage in humans and it has even been known to make some people's ears bleed from busting their ear drums

Even funnier is when you hear a scientist say we share 50% or our DNA structure with a banana. xd

Okay, new animal fact thanks to Discovery Channel - You are more likely to be killed by a falling coconut than a shark.

You are twenty times more likely to be bit by a New Yorker than a shark.

Not true.

Though big cat hybrids generally are sterile, there have been several documented cases of them mating and producing offspring - live, may I add.

Awesome.

I'll keep those in mind for the next time I meet a shark-o-phobe.

I remember another one!

-All Calico cats are female.

Actually, that's a near-truth at best..trust me, I've gone through so many cat-breed encyclopedias, the answer's practically glued on to the back of my pants! xd
Actually, ALMOST every Calico breed of cat is female. The males being born is a VERY rare phenomenon, but it comes with an even more bizarre twist-the males will ALWAYS be born completely sterile.
That's right kids, if your female cat has kittens, you can bet good money the daddy's not a stray Calico! xd

There are only three animals with blue tongues: the black bear, the Chow Chow dog and the blue-tongued lizard.

A goldfish has a memory span of three seconds.

Hummingbirds are the only birds that can fly backwards.

-monkeys are smart
-goldfish are so dumb they will bloat themselves to death (which sucks)
-if 2 beta fish r put 2gether with one female fish they will fight 2 the death 2 claim the female...

-Camels have three eye lids.(wow i wish i did)
-No two zebras have the same striped pattern
-Bengal tigers are the most water loving of the big cats. They will even chase prey into the water.
Roadrunners run rather than fly. They can sprint 15 miles per hour.

A gold fish starts life as a female then turns into a male

-Ladybugs have poison in there kneecaps(wont kill a human only smaller insects)
