*giggles from the Slayers huggles*

Yup, I love Slayers. I actually wanted my Gaian name to be LinaInverse, but someone had already taken it.

Anyways, I wasn't able to get on yesterday because my ISP was messed up. *sigh*

But now I am back!

*huggles everyone*

I saw the Saiyuki movie Requim(bad at spelling please don't kill me). All i can say is that it's quite a plot line with many MANY twists within it. But I loved it anyway. sweatdrop

I remember Slayers! I've only seen one of the movies which was a long time ago so I barely remember what happened.... but I remember Lina Inverse. LMAO. Took me long enough to realize your name is based on that anime. Well more or less. sweatdrop

LOL...Luna is actually the much afeared elder sister of Lina. In SLayers, there are two things that Lina fears. Slugs and her older sister, Luna. She actually admits that she'd rather take on 100 mazoku instead of pissing off her sister.

LOL...Gotta respect someone that can make Lina quake in her boots...

I haven't seen too much of Saiyuki...

In the manga, I read up to... I don't remember which book it was, but I only got half way through it, when Sanzo took Gonou back to the palace, Monkey & Kappa in tow.

Ironically enough, that's as far as I've gotten in the anime as well, the same disk. I caught episodes 26 & 27 the other day, and they rekindled my love for Saiyuki. After I finish his Witch Hunter Robin and Now And Then, Here And There, I'll prolly as my 'Gojoe' buddy if you can lend me his Saiyuki. 3nodding Such a shame... all my bud's are eclipsing my anime collection now. domokun

I just finished Witch Hunter Robin a few days ago. Cool series. Now and Then, Here and There was pretty interesting too. It's not everyday I come across someone who likes those as well as Saiyuki!

Spoiler question:
The series never really went into detail about why Sanzo and his group left or got kicked out of heaven (if they did then I wasn't paying attention) or why Goku was imprisioned (and why he didn't remember anything about heaven except when he goes berserk). Does Saiyuki Reload go into detail about this? JW

you should read gaiden. It takes place in heaven and explains what happened to their previous lives

'lo, all! I'm a huge fan of Saiyuki, ever since I was introduced to it by an online friend. Now, I've seen discs 1-10 (own 1 and the first box, and 7 and the second box, rented the rest), I have the first two volumes of the manga, and an import Gaiden box set from ebay... which I can't (well, won't) watch until I finish Saiyuki sweatdrop
Main reason I love Saiyuki so much is I'm a mythology addict, especially present-day adaptations like this. And, of course, as such, I love the culterural note sections biggrin

Another manga series - Saiyuki Gaiden. It's basically a manga all about their lives in heaven.

Well, Saiyuki is based on the Legend to the West story. In the original, Son Goku is imprisoned because he is so powerful that the entire army of Heaven can't stop him, and he terrorized Heaven. Son Goku had learned enough tricks and skills and powers that even though he wasn't celestial born, he took the name "Sage Equal To Heaven"

In other words, Goku had the power level of the gods, and he demanded to be made one of the gods. They didn't want him, and he started all kinds of trouble. He was finally imprisoned and told that his imprisonment would end when he helped someone later on. 500 years later comes a priest who frees him...etc etc etc.

Now, as for the manga and anime, I can only guess that it might have been something similiar. Remember those manacles on Goku's wrists? Goyjo could barely lift them.

If you haven't read it yet, read the actual story. It's really good, and it's fun to find the similarities and differences between the two.
