OK...now Bill says this is NOT our last week. I asked him today. He wouldn't say anything more, though. Could be he doesn't really know either, but they are still downsizing the weave room faster than the warp mill, which seems really weird to me. We MUST be sending warps to Tietex!

eek If I get what they were saying tonight correctly...starting next Monday I will be the ONLY one working on 2nd! There will be a guy from the weave room staying so I'm not the only one in the building, but the 2nd shift weave room supervisor clearly said Friday was his last day! I don't think this guy staying will be running anything! (He's a Fixer, BTW. smile )
Also heard 1st is laying off 5 people, & that Bill told them we may still be here up to July. :O

Well...after all last week talking like I would be here alone on 2nd (Bill asking if I was still OK with being alone upstairs, Mr. Carter bringing the fixer guy up & telling me he'd be there so I wasn't alone, etc.), Today Bill comes up & says, "This is the last week for the Weave Room on 2nd. We're shutting down 2nd. So this is YOUR last week." :X Darn it, I wouldn't have felt like it was such a kick in the head if they'd just left me with the idea the end of April was it! The Sampler still seems to have a lot of work & we run tons of selvage spools now because we're doing them for Tietex also now...so I don't know how crazy my 1st shift partner will be about this. If they think she's gonna start working really fast to make up for my absence, they better think again! She works hard already--we both do!

My partner is indeed shocked & unhappy, & we agree they must be crazy thinking one person will be able to run all those selvage spools alone, especially if they give her any more orders with junk yarn that will keep her constantly busy on the sampler. I told her they'd better be sure they want rid of me 'cause I'm not going to sit on my rear end waiting to see if they'll call. I'm gonna either get in TAA or get work! :X
Another weird thing is they aren't saying anything even now about the Sampler's fate! Last rumor we heard was Tietex would take it, but still nothing on when or if they want one of us to run it or even to train any of their own people to run it. Do the dummies think they'll just get the thing & figure it out themselves? It took us 3 years to get good at running this hunk of junk! :X

If you hang on though til the final layoff if they close down, you may be able to get the special benefits, free schooling (some people just want enough to get to another job, others want a lot), etc. you will not get if you quit. Man, EVERYONE surely will not be able to go out--SOMEONE has to run Market Samples!

Ronny Walker says Joe Holden is a really good guy to work for. smile
Here is comes...tomorrow is my last day...I already cleaned out my locker.... sweatdrop
My partner is wondering if the rest of them will really be there much longer anyway. She heard all the warps hanging in the big carousels downstairs may just get cut off. gonk What a waste of money, time & materials!
