(Someone being by themselves+social person=social person goes to see what's up. Doi. =P)
Syleti knew a moment's discomfort as for a moment it seemed that the rider was going to ignore her. Which would have meant, of course, that she truly didn't wish to be approached. Relieved when the other woman finally spoke, the grin returned to her face. "Yes sir! Green Erith, and I'm Syleti."

Nevaeh placed a light grin on her face. "It's nice to meet you Syleti. I'm Nevaeh, rider of blue Javareth." Nevaeh replied looking the girl over a little better. She was fairly pretty in her opinion anyway, rather nice or at least seemed it. She would have to note this girl as a possible person to talk to again later.

It wasn't hard for Syleti to realize that she was being looked over, after all, she'd done it more than once herself. It was...disconcerting...to get that look from another female, though. Vaguely remembering a lecture from the Candidate master about how they'd be expected to abstain after Impression until their dragonet was mature enough to understand what was happening, she managed to stay relaxed and keep a friendly smile on her face. "Likewise. So, is it really as busy as everyone says it'll be after Impression?"
She tried not to be too rude about scarfing down what was on her plate, but she was hungry. And know that Erith was sated and slumbering, she knew quite certainly that the hunger was her own.

That was one of Nevaeh's favorite things to do during hatching feasts or it had been at her old Weyr. She'd loved to look over the females that had impressed. She tried to make it obvious when she did so. A lot of the girls she'd looked over had been very pretty and almost everyone of them had given her a negative reaction and the ones that hadn't she enjoyed scolding for flirting when they're dragonets were newly hatched. Syleti seemed rather calm and neither showed interest or reacted negatively.
Nevaeh showed no more interest of such and turned her gaze out to the crowd allowing Syleti to eat without being stared at. "You're time will be dedicated to your green Erith. You will have little time to do things of your own between feeding, bathing and oiling your dragon and doing all the chores that come with the weyrling duties. You will be tired and your work will be hard. The hard work will never end even once your Erith is grown but it's all worth it."

"Sounds like the Candidatemaster was right--AGH, get the shards out of here you fardling bloody dimglow!" The stream of invective coming from Syleti was directed at a blue flit who chirped merrily as he dodged a swat from his bonded, a pilfered slice of roast wherry firmly grasped in his talons. He landed a good half-dragonlength away to gobble down his prize, wings spread in case he needed to dodge Syleti or anyone else again.
Syleti, meanwhile, had forced herself into some sort of calm again, though she glared at the blue. "Tidus...yes, he's mine," she admitted reluctantly. "I'd just gotten here when I got his egg, and I didn't know the first thing about training them..." She did start eating a little more quickly, so she wouldn't be the victim of another fly-by theft. "Anyways...we'll be able to visit our families and stuff eventually though, right? Or whatever else people around here do during free time."

He had been expected to make an appearance, so here he was. It wasn't that K'rel disliked Hatchings; oh no, quite the contrary, he loved them as much as the next rider. Each Hatching revived the memory of his own Impression to Siventh turns ago, that moment of utter completeness, the comfort of knowing one would never have to be alone again. He sighed fondly at the memory, feeling Siventh do the same somewhere in the back of his mind.
No, he loved Hatchings, but the crowds afterwards, the Gather that followed... The Wingsecond fought back a frown as he wove his way through the celebrating riders and families, setting instead of a rather forced smile. Being social was one thing, tolerating crowds and noise and other suchs things was another entirely, especially considering T'bell was off who knew where doing those Harperish things he did. The brownrier nodded a polite congratulations to a group of new weyrlings as he passed, then rose on his toes to peek above the crowd for the food and drink tables that should be somewhere nearby. Shards and shells, he could use a glass of wine.

Nevaeh watched calmly as a flit snatched food from Syleti's plate. That blue certainly needed some training for sure, of course so did many other flits around the Weyr. "He's rather amusing." She replied watching the flit devour his piece of meat.
Turning her gaze back to Syleti she sighed. She knew how hard it was to really be away from your family after living with them for most of your life. "Yeah you'll get free time as time passed though it'll be a while before you can see your family unless they come to you. Only after your dragon learns to fly and go between will you ever be able to leave the Weyr. Once they're able to fly though your free to go see your family as long as you let your weyrlingmaster know where you are going."

As poor K'rel stepped past them, Saer was whirling around, intent on snagging up another piece of fruit, and maybe some of those meat rolls she saw others munching on. However, as she did so, she came dangerously close to knocking into the older brown-rider. With wide eyes and a shocked look, the young woman fumbled with the rest of her apple, valiantly trying to avoid tossing it straight at the other rider.
"OH! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to try to run you over!" A sheepish grin appeared on her face, and she waved, hoping she hadn't made a complete fool of herself. Not like it would've entirely mattered to her or not, first impressions were generally wrong anyway. Especially if they were bad first impressions.
(Still short, but growing in size ever so slightly! XD)

The brownrider stumbled aside to avoid being trampled on, sending the girl a look of utter disbelief before he could help himself. Quickly catching himself, he straightened up and managed a smile for the girl, recognizing her from the Hatching as one of the new weyrlings. Shaking his head, he lifted a hand as if to dismiss her apology. "It's fine, no harm done. I'd be more surprised if I managed to go the night without getting a bit trampled in this crowd. You were trying to get...?"
He glanced back over his shoulder, then half turned and took a step to retrieve a couple of meatrolls and a half of fresh redfruit from the table before turning back towards her and offering the lot. If she didn't want them, he could eat them himself. "Saves a few people from getting shoved about," he teased.

She accepted the offered food gratefully. "A mind reader, are we?" Her eyes shone with a tiny bit of mischief as she easily teased back. "Thank you." Saer glanced at the crowd before nodding her agreement. "If I escape without horribly colliding with someone by sheer accident, I will be rather proud of myself." She lifted a meatroll to her mouth, taking a decent sized bite before her eyes went wide. Chewing as fast as she could, the girl tried to finish her bite before speaking again. Swallowing proved to be a bit of a challenge but she managed, somehow.
"Forgive my manners. I'm Saeryan, rider of brown Daranth!"

It had been difficult to pry himself from Luith’s side, but now that he was here, in the dining hall, E’sar had space to feel a little bewildered at his sudden and complete devotion to the bloody-muzzled little dragonet snoozing in the barracks. He was hardly aware enough to even acknowledge the pats and congratulations from the people that had attended the Hatching, even when his own birthmother walked up and gave him a hug, wearing a sardonic grin.
He saw the spot where most of the new weyrlings were gathering and contemplated going over—these were the young men and women that he’d live, train, and die alongside of. Die? he thought, feeling a little morbid. E’sar pursed his lips and disentangled himself from his beaming family members, vestiges of a former life, and headed over towards them, though they all seemed engrossed in their own separate conversations. He could not help but give the boys that calculating look, though he knew he’d have to put down that eagerness for a while…
And even knowing that, he couldn’t help but notice T’bell through the crowd as he sauntered towards his peers, eyebrows lifting and a rather wolfish smile coming on to his face. So he couldn’t even really resist whistling, either, low and suggestive, eyes following the ‘rider. Subtlety was for prudes.

"Only when I'm standing before a buffet table," he countered just as easily, helping himself to the other meatroll and finishing off a bite before risking speech once more. "It's an impossible feat in any Gather, I'm sure. With everyone rushing about, excited by the Hatching, the risk must be doubled at the least." He shook his head, but smiled, expression lifting further at the mention that she too was a brownrider. "K'rel, Wingsecond and brown Siventh's rider. It's a pleasure to meet you, Saeryan, and congratulations on your Impression."

R'ael it seem wasn't here yet. Neither was any of the dragon riders he reconginzed. He wasn't looking forwards to meeting up with G'dor anyways. And all these people he did not know where congratulating him making him shy away. He did not even have his grandmother here. She had retired early and shooed him off here.
Like he was one to enjoy a party. He should talk to the the others in his group. Who's dragons had just hatched but they all looked busy and the young man who gave that whistle was making him doubtful of this all. Soneth was sleeping so he could not go back there to hide..
The blonde sigh and stoaked the bottom of his flits jawline. "Well, what is your big idea now Sonia?" He questioned the flit and recived one sleepy whirling eye. "Sleep hmm? Not a big help are you."

"Thank you, and it's my pleasure to meet you, even if it happened because I almost tromped straight into you." With a happy sigh, the girl took up the redfruit, indulging in a juicy bite before repeating the previous process, trying to chew and swallow fast enough to speak once more.
"One can always hope to stay out of everyone's way. This is my first Gather, however, so I'm quite unused to all the hustle and bustle at the moment. It's sure a pleasant change from the quiet of where I am from though." It was true, she preferred such activity over the solitude being a journeyman fisher's daughter. Nothing exciting ever seemed to happen to that craft. Even her own prior craft as an apprentice healer had been more exciting, though it didn't compare to this.

"There're worse ways to meet people," he admitted, then finished off his meatroll in a few short bites. Once his mouth and throat were clear, he continued. "Your first Gather?" Disbelief was clear in his voice, but he laughed, lifting a hand in a gesture to include the surrounding area, the people and activities and so forth that composed the Gather. "You'll have plenty of chances to get used to it, I'm sure. This weyr uses every excuse for a Gather. It gets rather tiresome, to be honest, though the Hatching was nice."
