Alyosha
Captain

PostPosted: Thu Jul 07, 2005 1:51 pm

Alyosha turned to wave and smile as Foenix walked by and her little Aerandir buzzed around. "We should be starting the treasure hunt soon!" he called, thinking Nehanda might find it fun. There were goldfish stalls to be organised - he'd have to keep Osero away from those, he grinned - and other activities to take place.

Hopefully this was going to be a good event. Maybe even one Delta would like, he pondered, watching the young Aerandir prancing about.

"Treasure hunt?" Foenix stopped as she neared the others and laughed. "That sounds right up a certain someone's alley." She thumbed over her shoulder at Nehanda.

Nehanda, in the meanwhile, ran straight up to Alyosha, one of the few people she recognized, and tugged at his shirt. "I's a super person!" she proclaimed proudly. "I makes bad guys go bam!"

She looked over at Delta, and approached more cautiously. "Hi. I's 'Handa. You're pwetty."

With a sigh and a chuckle, Foenix shook her head. "Sentences, Nehanda. Remember? We speak in complete sentences." She looked back at Alyosha, and shrugged. "Still working on that whole talking deal."

Yaraif's tiny stomach rumbled. There was so much food here, but nothing signifacantly sweet! Disappointed, she grumbled in her foreign language.

Progolo, frustrated, strolled towards the crowd. Where in the world had Yaraif gone? "Yaraif?" he called, trying to make himself heard over the hubub of the happily chattering people. He kept glimpsing small children here and there that didn't look quite normal...winged children.

He did a double-take.

Had he just seen a Polar Bear?

As conversation between friends had broken out Chao had lent back and simply enjoyed a nice bout of people and Aerandir watching, pausing only to slip her newly aquired raffle ticket into her pant pocket where it'd be safe.

With a slightly muffled yawn she blinked as the new creature, Yaraif, began to search about the food table nearby then grumbled.

"Er..." was it lost? It looked like it was looking for something. Whether it was a specific food or person she wasn't sure. Mentally shrugging she stood and wandered over, hand carefully steading her bag.

"Hey there," she greeted, hoping it would understand, "are you looking for something? Or someone?" she gestured towards the food then the crowd.

Sin ambled slowly through the festival grounds, pausing only to inspect a display a little more closely before going back to her wonderings. She sighed deeply, it was a beautiful day, but she really wasn't feeling all that great.

Spotting her friend, she raised a hand in greating. "Chao!" She called happily, jumping up and down so that her friend would see her.

The girl called out to her charge telling him not to wander too far. That was the last thing she wanted him to do. Wander off on an island they had never been on and get lost. She pushed her fingers though her hair, pulling out the knots as she did so. Quickly remembering Iniko couldn't go too far from her bonded item she decided she'd follow around the little wisp staged Aerandir for the time being Taranis would be fine exploring for a while. At lest she though he wouldn't go too far, but if he started to cause trouble she'd go and get him right away. Taking her bag from around her wrist she quickly adjusted the strap and swung it around her shoulder. It was much easier to carry this way. "Come on Iniko." she called watching the wisp float over to her. "Now what to do..." she said aloud.

Yaraif's elongated pointed ears twitched. She heard the voice and recognized a few of the words, but didn't think she was being addressed. She flipped her wild violet hair over her shoulder and leaned over to take a taste of an odd looking food item, but out of the corner of her eye she noticed a Progolo-sized being watching her.

"Aamha!" Yaraif greeted uncertainly. She'd said hello in kunkunese, but there was no way for this new person to know that. She spoke inquisitively to the young woman, ponting to the food. To one who didn't understand her (and maybe even for those that could), it would sound like a stream of delightful childish babbling.

Anthony walked out of the centre and across the village, not too sure about the garment Alyosha had lent him. He was a little short for it and had nearly tripped on the yukata before imporvising a method for typing it up a little way with various intricate tucks and folds.

As he cleared the village he found, to his delight, a large number of people already gathered. He had not met any of those he would be working with yet and didn't know where to start when it came to announcing the little event he had organised.

Looking over to Alyosha he was loathe to press the man being as he seemed to be talking to his lady-love. He also wanted to show he could do this by himself.

Walking to one side he found a table which had some plates and cutlery arranged on it. He picked up a spoon and a plate and 'dinged' the crockery hard, trying to get everyones attention.

"For those of you wish to take part we will be holding a small 'treasure hunt'. 'Coins' have been spread over the main festival area. They may be anywhere. Gryphons and Children are encouraged to look for these coins. If they find one they will be able to gain a prize at the end of the festival! " He picked up a coin and held it high, allowing those who had turned to see the glinting coin.

((Each gryphon / child / owner of bottles / guest should be able to find one coin. You may find them wherever you like. biggrin finding more than one coin will not equal getting more than one prize)

Progolo paused, mid-call, to listen to the announcement. A treasure hunt, eh? Well, he was hunting for something of his own already; the coins would have to wait...Besides, Yaraif could undoubtably find small coins better than he could.

Wherever she was...

Sy blushed slightly, nervously glancing at the people around her- as if she was worried that they might mind Aly putting his arm around her. Oh, such deviousness. After her mind cleared of daydreams, another woman whom she didn't recognize appeared. She tried to say hello... and failed the first time, getting too excited and nervous and saying both syllables at once.

"H-hey. I'm Syrenrei." Smiling brightly she extended her hand to Foenix.

Delta was meanwhile looking up at Nehanda. She wasn't about to greet this obviously-evolved Aerandir but she remembered how her mother had described the value of friends... plus the child had complimented her. Fluffing her feathers she did a little dance in a circle and chirped.

O__O !! She was wearing clothes! Like the people in magazines! Sure, it wasn't quite as shiny and detailed, but to wear clothes- now that was something. Delta tried to be discreet as she admired the garmet.

Chao's brow furrowed as she struggled to understand Yaraif's speach. So odd, you travel to a new world and you can understand anyone around you but you find a new creature that doesn't speak that first language and you're screwed.

Still, her mind managed to work out that she was being greeted, or being asked if Yaraif could eat her hand, but Chao was favoring the first option.

At Sin's call she was distracted for a moment and waved back happily to her friend before her attention slid to Anthony.

"Cool, a treasure hunt," she smiled, eyes alight with excitement and gave her pack a small pat, feeling the warmth of the glow through the material. "I hope it's alright if I find one for you San."

Turning back to Yaraif she grinned, "it's been nice meeting you, but there's a treasure hunt going on now," she gestured to Anthony and the coin, "searching for more of those. Unless you'd like to come with and search...?" really, she didn't know if Yaraif was understanding a word she was saying, they seemed to be speaking very different languages. But it was always worth it to try, right?

Yaraif had jumped at the sound of the tinkling dishes, but had fortunately recovered in time to hear more incoherent gibberish. Yaraif raised a tiny eyebrow, but then just smiled and nodded. She had to get something to eat before she just keeled over. Maybe this woman was offering her food? Her tone sounded inviting enough.

Progolo, meanwhile, had finally figured that if she'd left voluntarily, it was because she'd either seen something so interesting she couldn't resist investigating, or that she was searching for food. He wouldn't allow him self to think of what might have happened to her if she hadn't gone voluntarily.

Pushing thoughts of a vicious Polar Bear attack out of his mind (How could he have not noticed if Yaraif had been eaten by a Polar Bear, anyway?), he made his way towards the food stand.

There she was! She was talking to a rather confused looking woman. He sidled over, wondering if this stranger was understanding one word of her jabber.

"There you are," he breathed. He smiled weakly at the woman. "I'm sorry, was she bothering you? She sort of slipped away..."

As Prologo came over Chao was attempting to figure out what Yaraif had said... and failing misrably.

After being saved from having to toil over the sadly fizzeling away attempt at conversation the teen simply smiled greatfully and waved a hand at man's explaination, "no, no bother at all. Just one going nowhere conversation I'm afraid," she shrugged then smiled, "but I'm glad you've found her, what's her name, if I may ask?"

Suddenly remembering her manners she offered a hand, "oh! And welcome to Ar'Idil! My name's Chao."

Progolo slid Yaraif some sugar-loaded treats while the woman answered, hoping that food would keep her from pulling his hair out in fury.

"Good," he said in relief. "That's good to hear...her name? Her name is Yaraif. She's a...kun-kun. She...doesn't speak English well."

As if that wasn't obvious.

He took her offered hand, smiling and slightly flustered. "Oh, thank you, I'm Progolo. Progolo Dgagn."

Struck by a sudden shyness as she nibbled on her treats, Yaraif fluttered onto his shoulder.

Chao smiled, giving his hand a firm shake then waved to Yaraif, "it's nice to meet both of you. A Kun-kun?" she blinked, she'd never heard of such creatures, but hey, considering how this was part of Gaia, that wasn't surprising.

Noticing Yaraif's sudden attitude change she pushed a hand through her hair, dislodging a few strands from her bun in the process and looked back to Progolo, "erm, if there a way I could introduce myself to her? In her language?"
