Death to Blondes

PostPosted: Tue Mar 20, 2007 10:55 am

"'Zats what I get being raised by a unikalona I guess." he looked straight forward at the scents. His cool blue eyes wandered over the soft landscapes as a few more twigs poked at his pale sides and chest. His braids getting more tangled than one could imagine. Their personalities clashed but it was mostly because they were similar or close to. He actually didn't mind the little female, normally he'd give a swift kick to a foal who came near him and started to bug him. But she was odd, and this bugged him...once again that damned compassion was coming to him.

Azariel looked back at him, "Unikalona? What's that?" Could she help it if she were ignornant? It wasn't as if her father had taught her about "unikalonas" heck, he probably hadn't heard of them himself. She flicked her tail dismissively, "Eh..." She trotted out of the cover of the trees, immediately going over to the figure which sat by the fire outside of the teepee.

Whickering softly she nudged the young woman's shoulder, "Azariel..." Spoke the woman, touching the filly's muzzle, "You're very late..." She rapped her knuckles gently on the fily's forehead, "Your father is very worried." She had yet to see the injured stallion, her attention too fixed on her young charge.

"Its...ask some'un vous trust." he watched as they were in front of the teepee and she ran to her two legger. She watched the two interact, when Ares was young he didn't let Itzpapalotl lay hand on him because he was taught not to. He snorted as the female touched the female, his cold eyes ran over them, flickering like a caged animal about to attack. His wing lay helpless. He figured while walking he had broken more bones than one. He stood, watching them he wanted nothing to do with any of them now that he was here and he wanted to leave.

Azariel shook her head, gently tugging on the woman's tunic until she stood, "Is something wrong, Azariel?" She asked, casting her gaze around. A nod-or the equine equivalent of one. She turned, and motioned for the inidan girl to follow, "Yes, yes, I'm coming." Came the reply.

Azariel trotted back to Ares, "Behave, you," She grumbled, looking closely at him, "I told you before, if I have to knock you out to get that wing fixed, I will. So behave around Mashki." Her tail flicked with impatience and she looked again at his wounds. He'd lost a lot of blood and it really didn't look well. For the first time, Azariel wondered if Mashki knew how to fix wings.

Ares lowered his head snorting at her, "You wouldn't be able to." his accent was diminishing as he spoke. It often did that in the night and early morning or if he hadn't been around a French speaker. He snarled as the thing came closer to him, he was starting to ct like when he was younger again. Hate everyone and survive...basic 101. He was more than nervous and he might have to be knocked out to let it touch him, he shivered at the thought of being touched by a stranger.

Azariel's tail flicked once and she looked at him with a riased eyebrow, "What's wrong, Ares?" She asked calmly, "You can't get fixed up unless Mashki looks at you and I won't let you leave until you do." She sighed, why was he suddenly acting like a big baby? He clearly wasn't afraid of pain or he wouldn't have gotten this far. "If you're really that scared of her we're going to have a problem." She stated calmly, "Because I'm not leaving you alone until you get it fixed, so unless you do, you're gonna be stuck with me for a looong time. Do you want to be stuck with a filly for a long time?" So she was using herself as an incentive to get looked at, her conscience certainly was determined.

Mashki stared at the white stallion Azariel had brought home, sensing she shouldn't approach too far and get into the male's personal space. She could see he was hurt--the evidence was in the damaged wing that lay uselessly by his side. "Azariel..." She began, "If your stallion wants help, he needs to come closer to the teepee, I need to get the bandages." She turned slightly as if to go back.

Ares watched her, why had he even trusted in her in the beginning? He hadn't trusted her, felt sorry for her maybe. Thats why he saved her and brought her home now it was time for him to leave...so why wasn't he leaving. He watched as her voice turned calming to him and almost soothing, he walked forward a bit more closer to the light of the fire but he stood still if he were to get fixed he'd have to lay which would be even more coaxing from his newly found filly friend. His cool eyes followed the female, turning no less cold or hard. His legs twitched as the muscles beneath his pelt tensed.

Azariel's ears flicked back, a slight giveaway to her annoyance, "Come on, Ares!" She hissed, stomping a back hoof, "Do you really want to deal with me for the rest of your life?" An amused laugh, "Come on, what stallion wants to deal with me? I'm sure you don't want to be tied down, don't you?" She sigh and reached up, tugging gently on a braid, "Come on, the sooner you get fixed up, the sooner you can leave!" There, an incentive, "And you won't ever have to deal with my whining or stubbornness ever again! And you can go out and hurt yourself and won't have me bugging you about it ever again! See? So let's get you fixed up!"

Mashki emerged from the teepee, bandages and ointments cradled carefully in her arms, "Azariel?" She called, blinking into the darkness, "Azariel, make sure you bring him closer, I do not have the kind of night vision your kind do, I will the help of the fire." The young indian woman was curious about this entire affair. How had the stallion gotten injured, for example? And why had Az brought him back to the teepee? He was clearly very badly hurt, but his own human should be looking after him, not a filly and her indian.

If Ares had ever read thoughts and knew what this filly's indian was thinking he'd be all over her a**. He wasn't in the mood for anyone questioning Itzpapalotl's tactics, the young shaman had things to do and even though she wasn't shaman of the tribe she still had the gift. He believed he remembered something about a foal delivery a region away.

He let Azariel pull him closer to the fire and he hissed slightly as the female came back out warning her. His cool blue eyes wandered over them as he stood silent...a subtle fear was in him as well as a hatred to two leggers. After all, thei was the incident where their was one throwing stones at a foal...of course he had almost torn it to bloody ribbons if Cynara wouldn't have got their, it probably would have died. But he needed to learn that others were trustworthy, right? He trusted no one unless they earned it.

Azariel glanced back, mouth still full of a braid and replied with a sound of agreement, "Co' on oo!" She hissed tugging more, "Oo arr ehhing elp!" She let go of him then, the annoyance of not being able to speak correctly irking her to no end, "If you're still nervous about it, I'll have Mashki bandage me up first, so you can see she's good at it, okay?" She grinned lopsidedly up at him, "She's done it a lot."

Azariel was a bit proud of that too. She wasn't some filly-filly who was afraid of getting dirt on her, she loved to get into anything and everything even that thornbush. She winced inwardly, she was still recovering from that fiasco, both physically and emotionally, being laughed at wasn't fun.

Mashki placed the supplies on the gorund, careful to make sure nothing was going to tip over or fall to the ground and ruin itself. Turning back to the two she waited, tying her long tresses back, "Your wing is very damaged," She told him, voice soft, "You are lucky Azariel brought you here, you could be dead." She paused, head extended a bit, not touching the stallion, "What I will do is going to hurt, sometimes quite a bit, but you have to stay still as much as you can." She looked at him coolly, "Do you understand?" She knew about these horses, these "soquili" and hoped he could understand her, this would be infinitely more difficult if he couldn't.

"Your two legger is stupid." he eyed the female, he got to hos knees and laid down lazily. The loss of blood was getting to him, his complextion had pale and his eyes were starting to get dazed. He had growled at the two legger softly when she said he could have been dead. He pulled his good wing closer to his side. He peered at her with those cold eyes and snorted that he understood semi what she was saying. He already knew that it was going to hurt, it was a broken wing. She underestimated him. His head turned to Azariel, the stallion almost looked helpless. He was fighting like a mother, but even he couldn't compete with some things. The wolf must have gotten at a blood vessel that he shouldn't have. It was ripped up pretty bad but nothing that couldn't be fixed if it was immediate attention. "Doesn't matter if...you go first...she's yours..." his accent was fading as he got his words out in an almost whispery breath.

Azariel was tempted to get angry at that--but let it roll off of her in light that it was probably from his inner problems with two-leggers. With an amused huff she answered, "I'll take that as a compliment." She nosed him gently, "So what?" She grumbled, looking at him a bit sternly, "She should help you too." Her eyes widened a bit at him as she saw where he was going, "Come on, Ares! Think about something else. What do you like to do?"

MAshki approached the two, carefully sitting in front of the injured wing and reaching to spread the wing open, being very careful to try and not damage the wing more. She began carefully examining it, checking for breaks and tears, applying pressure where needed.

Pain shot up and down his wing as she touched it, he had underestimated how much damage was really done to it. He didn't show it on his face, he wasn't going to show weakness to the two legger nor the girl. He looked to her, "I don't know," he thought about it, "Saving fillies that don't know the dangers of the world?" he eyed her at his sarcasm. He was trying to pull through but not for him, for her perhaps. Dumb filly, he had his weaknesses and it was foals despite what he did to them he always had a weakness for them and it could have been from his rough child hood he didn't know but it was mostly for ones roaming on their own or orphaned ones. The others he didn't care for paticulary. He was almost a guardian for the abandoned even though she was far from it.

Azariel snorted, "That would be an interesting hobby, wouldn't it? Too bad you couldn't indulge yourself here." Ha! Like she needed to be rescued! Her tail flicked, she could take care of herself, no matter what anyone else thought. A huff and a quick glance at the damaged wing before returning her attention to the white stallion, "So do you always save foals from danger?" She asked, lips twisting upward, "Or am I somehow special? Even though you did lead the wolves to us."

Mashki sighed softly, carefully knitting two slivers of broken bone back into place, her entire concentration on that. Sweat slipped down her browbut she ignored it, right now just wanting to patch this wing up and do it properly.

His brows furrowed, "I was being sarcastic, next time your on your own." A pure lie but she wouldn't be able to tell. He almost had feelings for her now it seemed...like a little sister or something of the sort. "Azariel," he replied, the first time he had used her name rather than 'ma petite', "I didn't mean to lead them to you." he looked to her seriously arching his neck to see the two legger. He could see bone, he didn't flinch he had saw it all before. He had a pale scar running up his foreleg, down his chest and rump. But all were to pale to be seen but if you touched his soft pelt you could feel the roughness of them. He had many more, smaller of course but these were the ones he remembered most. He looked at Azariel, "Care if I spend the night?" he whispered...he wasn't going any where soon. "I'll be...gone by morning."
