Efreet didn't even have to hit her this time. The force of the spell, though not strong enough to reach Efreet, who danced easily out of the way, drain the very last bit of strength from Rosel's body. Her breath came ragged and painful, her foggy mind full of pain and anger. It was humiliating, ridiculous, stupid, she shouldn't be lying here, someone else should be. Someone under her power, being humiliated like this.
With one final cry of desperation, she pulled every ounce of her power and let it out, the power jerking through her body. It would be her last effort, and she knew it.

Whatever spell burst from her in that last moment wasn't enough. A blow came to her head and all went dark, this time for good.

Once again, Rosel woke to pain. It was still hot and after a moment of dizzyness, she realized she was still in Emberfall. Tucked against the side of the passway to the outer sanctum of Efreet's temple. Anger surged as the memories returned and she hobbled to her feet. The shack she had collapsed lay in ruins not too far from the passway. She regretted destroying it then; if she had not, she could destroy it now and steal one of those droplets.
Cursing herself, she limped away from the stone pillar and began to walk back to the marketplace. Someone else would have them. But a twinkle caught her eye from the wreckage and she stopped. Painfully hunched over, she sifted through the splintered wood until she came to it. It was one of those droplets, droplets of Yggdrasil. The tiny bottle was cracked, but the sparkling liquid was still inside. The market was mostly empty under the barely dawned sun, and Rosel quickly limped away from the wreckage with her prize. Popping the cap off with her good hand, she downed the concoction in a gulp.
It was hot in her stomach, and the warmth spread out to her fingers and toes. Then came the sickening sound of her own bones grinding together and she watched in horror as her arm popped back into its socket and her ribs ground into place, the dented spots on her body swelling into their original shapes.
The warmth faded as soon as it came and Rosel took a breath. The pain was gone, the scratches faded, but the smears of blood remained. She could feel it's disgusting crust around her ear and down her neck. But it didn't matter. She was better, and this time, she would not, could not, she thought bitterly, lose.
The rise to the sanctum went quicker this time, following the same path she had used before. But this time as she pulled herself onto the level ground of Efreet's chamber, there were no pleasantries.
"Efreet!" She called angrily and shot a bolt of lightning into the darkness that moved.

Efreet answered as he had before, with a furious roar and a boulder flying from the darkness. Unfortunately, it caught Rosel the same as it had the first time as well. Unable to dodge it fully, it hit her shoulder and threw her off balance. She twisted her body and stayed on her feet, wondering at the fact that she had avoided dislocating her shoulder this time.
And this time, there would be no pathetic water bursts in retaliation. Lightning was her favorite, and she hurled a bolt at the form emerging from the shadows.
