*sigh* I have done so much research on this, and In what I know about the devil....he is a liar and a master at decieving. I have listened to Stairway many many times as well...i learned it on guitar for crying out loud! and of course it doesnt sound like the devils music...they arent saying..."hail satan hail satan...we love satan" (though thats pretty much what it says when its played backwards) but if you look at what the lyrics say...they are connected to alot of occutish things...there is a vid that explains it all and exposes everything, try youtubing it....i think it might be under...."they sold their souls for rock and roll" dont judge it by its title...just find the one on Ledd Zepp

as far as the hedonism stuff goes...yes i agree that many Christians live by it as well....so are they really Christians then? because we are supposed to "die to self" right? become separate from the world? and such?

its a sticky situation...music was my big thing...especially all the classic rock secular bands....I didnt think they were satanic....but after researching them, and listening to different stuffs about them...I find that they were very much under the satanic influence...just start researching and you will find the truth...the Bible is a good place to start. smile

And tell me, who listens to their music backwards? Honestly, if you listen to the music for what it is, and not try to dig some horrible thing out of it, any "evil" in it will not affect you. I listen to my music for entertainment, not so I can get close to the Devil or whatever. Then again, I'm sure you'd say most of my stuff is of the Devil (i.e. Ozzy, Pink Floyd, Slipknot, System of a Down, Godsmack, etc. (yes, I do see the irony in the name of the last band mentioned)). Anyways. I'm a fairly decent Christian. I don't let my music, my books, my movies, or whatever is is supposed to influence me...well..influence me. I'm entertained, and then I drop it. I live my life the way I'm supposed to. So tell me. If this is the case, how strong is the Devil's influence when it comes to music?

Well I'll be honest. In fact Im just trying to explain what doctrine tells. Personally I listen to secular music, only I don't listen to music that directly offends God and/or christianity. I try to only listen music with a good message, even though they might not be christian. Like hammerfall, rhapsody or stuff like that.

I think that, whit doctrinal differences, and multidenominationalism, this is just a matter of obedience, if your church tells you to stop listening to it, I think you have to obey, because God calls us to obedience.

In my church they have no problem with SOME secular music.

she does make a good point Vic. I mean that flat-out satanist metal bands are definitely off the list but judas priest zeplin and sabbath as examples aren't realy falling under that category.
