i have a couple favorite companies. i like tokyopop since they've been in the biz for quite a while. i mean i used to get my sailormoon manga from them when they were still mixx entertainment. 3nodding they seem to do an alright job of what they do in picking good series. i have to say that i'm not really a fan of their promotion of american comics and manwha as "manga" or their cine~ or ani~manga, and they definately could lay off the cheese in their takuhai/manga magazine, but other than that, i give them props for starting this whole thing.
viz, from my experience seems to be doing a pretty good job with translations. i'm happy with my fullmoon manga i recently bought. i'm happy that they brought over shonen jump, too, although i don't read it. it took them a little while to bring over a girls' equivalent, though. that's probably because shoujo is finally taking the spotlight.
for anime i really am a fan of pioneer/genon. i was really impressed with all of the dvds i buy from them, and i think they do a fabulous job of handling series. i like adv, too, because i like a lot of the series they pick, and i'm pretty sure they do more sub~only releases than usual, which is a plus for me. 3nodding

Lately my favorite has been viz. Probably because most of the manga I get now comes from it. Like Full Moon, Ultra Maniac, and Host Club. Does are very good series. ^^
