The frog jumped off Arch's head and onto Ruby's shoulder, which made her grin and distracted her attention from Arch for a few moments. She gave it a quick kiss.
"Well I'd offer you some pie but that was ruined today." She frowned, remembering the reason she had crawled up into the tree that morning. She then paused, her face paling. "You didn't eat any of the pie, did you sug?"

Arch grunted as he rolled over onto his back, pushing his back up so he could move his wings. He held back his smile.

Ruby lost even more of her coloring, she held back her natural gag reflexes, just bareley. "Sug....." She finally decided it was best not to tell him, "yeah, musta slipped some curls into the crust by accident.....it was a new recipe I was tryin' out, but I don't think I'll be usin' it again." She pasted on a smile and hoped Arch didn't see the pink fuzzy turtle rolling around in the hamster ball.

Arch the Angel "Ahm screwihn wihth yeh, dahlihn. Ah sahw whaht 'ahppehnehd, ahn the litthel bahstahd wahs prolleh 'appeh. Death baih paih, ihs theah ahneh betteh waih?" Arch grinned, groping off the side for his beer. "Whaht taihme ihs iht?" Ruby bit back a sniffle, "I just looked and the lump in the pie was there. He musta gotten outta the ball an' wandered into the pan right when I was puttin down the crust." She leaned onto his shoulder. "I tried to get a new hamster but all I could find is that." She pointed to the pink fuzzy turtle in the hamster ball, the poor critter moving at a slow awkward pace. The frog made a small croaking sound on her shoulder, blinking its red eyes. "An' it's about an hour till Aaron's bus gets here..."

"Wehl dhamnhnehd." Arch said, putting an arm around her as he continued to fumble for the bottle with the other hand. "Weh cahn seeh iffhn' Merlihn cahn mahke ah nehw hamsteh." Arch said, yawning lightly. "Soh theah wehre ahwt ohf 'ehm aht the stohre?"

Arch said, yawning lightly. "Soh theah wehre ahwt ohf 'ehm aht the stohre?" Ruby nodded, "They sold them to people to eat, the whole place was sellin' animals for food. So I bought all they had left....an' set 'em loose... in the base" the last part was whispered very quietly into his shoulder. "Think Merlin will really be able to do it?"

She gave him a quick kiss and slipped off the bed, moving towards the small kitchen area. "I need to throw away that pie, before somebody actually does attempt to eat it."

Arch grunted, rolling off the bed, realizing he was on the wrong side of the beer. He cursed, standing up as Ruby left, walking around and snatching up his beer, finishing it. He lit a cigarette, and walked out of the room, looking around.

Ruby made sure to sing the first verse of "swing low sweet chariot" as she dropped the pie and the hamster into the trash. She took one of her roses and dropped it in after, bowing her head for a brief moment. The frog stayed perched on her shoulder watching the scene with slight amusement.

Ruby cleaned up the last of the kitchen and headed towards the elevator to go back up to the surface, and meet Aaron as he was dropped off by the bus. The frog on her shoulder smiled, and with small pointy fangs, took a quick bite. Ruby squeeked and brushed it off. "Bad! bad Frog, no biting." The frog bounded down and dissapeared in the room. It did occur to her for a moment that frogs didn't bite, but she brushed that thought aside and headed back to the elevator.
After reaching the surface, a curly redheaded boy ran up to hug her and tell her about his day. Ruby still rubbed at the bite marks on her shoulder, but nothing else seemed to be amiss.
