Papina barely registred the fact that Cordain had even said anything before she gasped as the breeze started to run across her roots. Oooo... talk about one of those head-over-heels sensations.
Her roots slowly started to shift first towards a more normal color, then into a lighter, drier color. Papina winced as her roots protested being abused like this. First, too little air and now too much! Normally, they didn't seem to mind what she did, but with all that had happened to them recently... The leaves on her head seemed to droop, almost like they were just starting to wilt.
Papina herself was stunned at her own reaction; her body had never reacted like this before, not even when she had to wade through a lake for a while. She hadn't a clue what was going on. She blinked at Cordain, wondering if he had any idea.

Cordain shook his head as he looked at her hands, the breeze dying down as he held her hands, "Hmmm...maybe I should put wind spirits in your wrappings next time?"

Papina squeaked as Cordain took her hands and could only stare at their hands, feeling a blush start at her collarbone and creep upwards. His hands... they're so warm... "Umm..." Well? Say something! "Umm..." OTHER than "Umm"! "Umm..."

Cordain chuckled lightly, "Should I let go of your hands Papina?" he asked her, noticing her blush and sudden inability to speak. "Also, when do I get the opportunity to meet the rest of your family?"

"Ummm... ummmm..." Papina's mind was running around in little circles, with only a small detached part coolly noting all this, but unable to do much. Well?Well what? He asked you a question! He did? Yes, he did!"Umm... wha?" She looked up from their hands to his face and blinked, trying to figure out what he had asked.

Cordain gave a light laugh, "Papina...would you like to have lunch now? or do you want to just sit here holding hands for awhile longer?" he asked her. At the mention of lunch, Hal opened his eyes and climbed out of the pool, wrapping a towel about his waist.

The sounds of Halcyon moving around snapped Papina out of her daze and she turned to look at Halycon for a moment before blushing and turning to look back at Cordain. "Um, yes?" she squeaked. She wasn't quite certain what she was saying yes to, but it seemed like a good idea. The leaves on top of her head perked up at the thought of food, however.

Halcyon finished drying off and moved off to tend to lunch while Cordain led Papina inside. Well, he more or less carried her to a table that was outside the arboretum but not inside the pent house. He smiled as he sat down, "Halcyon's banned me from the kitchen, he's afraid I'll burn it down with toast."
"TOAST ISN'T SUPPOSED TO SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST TO THE POINT THE TOASTER MELTS!" Hal suddenly shouts.

"... Banned?" Papina started to ask in response to Cordain's statement when Halcyon shouted. Her eyes became as big and round as saucers. He melted a toaster making toast? Note to self: Learn to cook. "Ehhh..." she started, not sure what to say, nor how much more blushing her cheeks could take. You can learn some very odd facts when you weren't planning on it.

Cordain sighed as he leaned his face into the palm of his hand, "So I never learned how to cook anything that required fire...I kind of grew up on cold meals in a matriarchal society that I intentionally outcast myself form..." He watched Papina with a smile, "You might want to wrap a towel around yourself, white shirts that are wet tend to be see through."
With that said he tosses a dry towel onto Papina and gives a chuckle as he courteously looks skyward.

"Oh..." Papina said softly. Matriarchal society? Just where did he come from? She then blinked at the next part. "I... wha?" She looked down, having forgotten that she didn't have her own clothes on. She leapt up with a squeak before collapsing back into the chair with a sinking feeling. Just how long had she been looking like this? Green was even more visible than... Her thoughts were interrupted when the towel hit her. She blushed bright red as she took the towel and stood up to wrap it around herself before sitting back down again. She rubbed her face with one hand, mortified. Bad enough Cordain saw (worse since she wasn't quite certain if she minded his seeing or not), but if Halcyon saw her too...
He had an arboretum and a pool here, surely there must be a big enough rock to crawl under, right?

Cordain was laughing lightly as Halcyon returned with sandwiches for them, "I didn't know what you did or didn't eat so I just went for a basic ham and cheddar for you Papina." He sat down and looked at the smile of Cordain, then at Papina's blushing.
He looked down at his food, "...If I'm interrupting an intimate moment between a couple I will move on to have lunch somewhere else."

"Nonostaystaygogo," Papina manged to garble out. It was uncertain if she was asking Halcyon to stay or to go, but she took one of the sandwiches all the same and absently took a bite before making a face. As a plant, she normally didn't eat meat, thinking it wouldn't be good for her, so the ham was an odd taste. She blinked and examined the sandwich closer before what Halcyon first said finally set in. "Ah... I don't usually eat meat of any sort." She picked some of the ham out and sniffed at it before nibbling on it, curious.

Cordain watches Papina with a faint smile, quietly eating his own sandwich. Hal looked confused then decided she meant for him to go as he picked up his lunch and waved, moving off in the direction of the study.

Papina was half-tempted to reach out to Halcyon and catch hold of him before he got away, but he was already out of reach before she thought of it. She felt as if she was crimson all over with embarrassment as she quietly picked at her sandwich, eating bits of bread and cheddar as she just sat there, feeling quite small and very confused. What was up with herself? This entire trip, she'd been acting very oddly.
She held up a piece of bread with a strip of cheddar attached and examined it as she tried to get her thoughts in order. It wasn't working very well. She sighed and ate the piece, swapping to simply watching herself pull the sandwich into tiny pieces. She had a few choice words for her mother not warning her about this earlier, forgetting that her mother thought she was too young for this still...
