~Mr.Domino~ And here I only knew of three... I feel so deprived of knowlage...
I want to try the big one. It looks the funniest... xD xD;; Sadly only one of "the big one" was made. That's the octo-contra-bass clarinet.

I only play the B flat clarinet and, as you can see, I'm not very computer savy. redface I've always wanted to play the bass clarinet or the octo-contrabass clarinet. You now, just the biggest, hairiest clarinet I can find. I bet it'd be amazing! biggrin

I am very advanced in Bb Clarinet :3 ... I've only been playing for 5 school years though T.T And I started bass clarinet in january. I'm also very good at that .. except I can't get any high notes for some reason!... and it's me not the clarinet >.<

Being at University I have had the opportunity to play most of these clarinets. The best of course are the Regular Bflat and the Bass Clarinet. The others ones have major tuning issues... similar to the silly oboes that have definitely major tuning issues. If you get the opportunity to play them please please please try your best to play in tune!!! burning_eyes

I play Bb most of the time, but switched over to bass when one of our piece had a main part for it. It was very strange, completely different ombiture. Need less to say, I switche back and we have a Frosh who plays it now

That is a pretty cool sounding name, right? Makes me think of a "octopus", whenever I pronounce it. ANYWAY! Only one was made, because having a octo-contra-bass clarinet is... Well... Kind of.. pointless. It's lowest note, which is a Bb-concert, is a octive lower than the lowest note on a piano (not to mention a octive lower than a contra-bass clarinet's lowest Bb-concert). The point that I am trying to get at is that its lowest note vibrates at about 14hz, which is pretty hard for a person to hear. In my opinion, Mr. Leblanc built it just because he could xP;; (correct me, if I am wrong on the frequency, because I was only guessing from the 440-A which we tune to.)
