Nova rolled onto her tummy to look into Synda's eyes. She wanted to argue, to demand that she be allowed to be with her mom, but the energy just wasn't there, even if it showed in her eyes. Instead, she obdiently gave in and began taking small bites, if only to appease the other lions even if she was hungry enough to eat an elephant. She was begining to wonder if something had happened to her mom, until she was distracted by the black lion's satisfied purr as he got up and saw her mom well and whole on the other side. "Mom!" Without even thinking, she got up on trembling legs and walked over as quick as her little paws could take her, collapsing with a giggle onto her mom's front paws. "Mama..."

Nebula nuzzled her daughter's tummy, purring loudly. "Oh, Nova...I thought I'd lost you for good..." She began urging the cub to eat a little more, before looking up at the other lions. "Thank you so much for taking us in...if it hadn't been for you...my little Nova would of died, as would I."

"Quiet. Rest. That is what you both need now, Miss..."

"Nebula. My name is Nebula."

"...Nebula. I am Blake, this is my mate, and Queen, Synda and this is Inari." he said, indicating each lion in turn. "Consider yourselves guests of the Whispers in the Dark Pride, and under strict orders to rest until Synda says otherwise."

((Sorry for delay xD))

Inari watched the young cub and Synda helped her to eat, keeping her steady between her paws until she got her fill. She was shocked however, as the starry female got up and stumbled over to her mother. She wished to grab the cub back and try to get her to eat a bit more, but it was too late to even try now as the cub collapsed by her mother's paws. She seemed a bit better, which was a good thing, but both of them still needed rest.

Inari smiled at the two guests as Blake introduced his Pride members to them, nodding in agreement to his words. From what it looked like, they were on the road to recovery, but going under the speed limit.

"Yes. Rest first, then talk. It has been tiring day for all." Synda gave a gentle sigh and walked over to the left over scraps of meat. She began to eat slowly, her hunger quite the opposite. It would take her to make another hunt to feed them all again, but as long as she had some energy she would be fine. Synda gave a little squeak as something kicked the inside of her belly rather hard. Wincing gently, she began to lick it as if to soothe the cubs inside. Any moment now, they would be brought forth into the world, screaming with eyes tightly shut and little furred bodies spiked with liquid.

Chuckling gently, the lioness went back to her meal, stealing glances at Blake now and again.

Nebula nodded, forever grateful for their hospitality, and forever indebted to them. Obediently, she lay her head down beside Nova as she cuddled as close to her mother's body as she could. In a few moments time, their breathing slowed and they were both asleep.

Satsified that the emergency had abated, Blake got up and nuzzled Synda affectionatly, and with a bit of worry after seeing her licking her swollen belly again. There wasn't enough meat to satisfy them all, anymore, and he was sure Synda planning to go out again, no matter how much he protested that she stay here. So, having learned that protesting would get him no where, and she'd go and do it anyways, he purred softly, "I'd rather you didn't, but if you go hunting again, take Inari with you...please?"

Staring over at her mate, Synda gave a gentle smile. The lioness nosed him gently before nuzziling into his mane, taking in his scent. It soothed her greatly, and she felt the motions within her belly stop as if gone to slumber. Looking him in the eyes, she nodded. "Why don't Blake come?" Synda arched her brow gently. "Blake need to learn to hunt better incase something happen to Synda. Inari can't hunt all the time, and Blake should learn." She got up slowly and quietly chuffed at Inari to come over. After the call, she looked back at her mate. "Blake come hunting with Synda or else Blake sleep outside tonight." She gave a playful growl and nudged her nose with his lovingly.

Blake let his flakes droop and gave Synda a rather hurt look even though he wasn't hurt at all, merely teasing her. "And what's wrong with the way I hunt? I was hunting my own meals long before I met you..." He got up and strutted a few steps, just playing things up a bit overdramatically just cause it was funny that way. He gave her a shocked expression when she said he'd have to sleep outside if he didn't come, and obediently nosed her back with a grin, "Ok fine...yes, dear. And here I used to think I was the King of this pride."

The tribal lioness looked over everything carefully, noticing the intensity degrading somewhat. She continued to watch, finishing off her deliciously caught meal with a lick of her lips. With that, Inari suddenly went back into a day dreaming mod, thinking of how nice it was to have a family again and be of use. Though the mother and cubs were not in good shape, she was glad Blake had stumbled upon them, she was able to prove that she would in deed be of help when cubs or other situations arose.

Her thoughts were interrupted however and she came back to Earth as the sound of Synda's gentle chuff perked her ears. She got up, looking back at the guests, then proceeded forward to her King and Queen. She stopped in front of them and nuzzled Synda lightly, swishing her tail feathers curiously as the look of faded laughter was plastered on both their faces. "How may I be of help to you, Synda, Blake?" She smiled warmly.

Just to establish how they met, from ooc to ic xd

Moonlit Monkey
mrgreen I <3 Reid being sick... And as soon as I'm not sick anymore, neither will he be.

Reid: THEN GO TO THE DOCTOR WOMAN! *Sneezes and falls back down* The sinus pressure! The sinus pressure!

Lady Mirage
Nebula: *gets shoved out by Mira, kleenex box in her mouth and pads over to Reid* Hey...I, uh, "heard" you were sick...thought you might like these. ^.^

Heard as in his sneezing is awful loud xd

Moonlit Monkey
Reid: *Looks up at Nebula and smiles, laughing a little* Heh... Thanks.. *manages to blow his nose* Sorry if I have uh, disturbed you with my cold... *Glares at Monkey*

Lady Mirage
Nebula: Not a bit! I don't like seeing others sick, and came over to see what I could do to help.

Moonlit Monkey
Reid: *Smiles, sounding like complete s**t* Thanks... I don't think I got your name though...

Lady Mirage
Nebula: Aaah...oops, I did forget that minor detail, huh? Forgive me, my name is Nebula *bows to him* May I inquire as to yours?

Moonlit Monkey
Reid: *Watches her and smrisk a little, finally noticing her beauty. Bows his head back to her, not really wanting to stand up* I'm Reid. Pleasure to meet you. Thank you so much for the tissues, you have no idea how much I appreciate it. *Laughs a little then clears his throat*

Lady Mirage
Nebula: Reid, huh? Hmm...I like it. It's simple, sweet, and easy to remember. ^.^ *smiles at him, then looks around* Anything you want? blanket? Chicken soup? Mira makes a lovely soup...

Moonlit Monkey
Reid: *Smiles* Thanks... Um.. Soup, sure.. Some company'd be nice too though....

Lady Mirage
Me: *to Yuki* I'm not walking out like this... -.-

Yukio: You look cute! Besides, he wants his soup. How do you expect Nebula to carry it?

Me: But...do I have to wear this? Why won't you?

Yukio: Because it wouldn't fit, for one.

Me: Meh...I'm going to get you later when your sleeping... *walks out in maid outfit, neko ears and all, carrying a lion-sized bowl of soup, sets it before Reid, turns around the sticks her tongue out at Yuki*

Nebula: *visibly embarrased* Eh...ignore them. *sweatdrop* Company I can do most certainly. *lays down with purr, and flick of her tail* So...Reid...tell me a bit about yourself...

Moonlit Monkey
Reid: *Trys hard not to laugh* Wow.. Thank you! *Waits until they leave to start laughing and looks at Nebula* They're awesome... *Coughs a little, smiling because she's actually staying with him* Well... I'm the King of a pride, Scales of Themis, that will hopefully become joined with my best friend's pride. I have an adopted son, Desero. He's a cub but he's... Unique and I love him dearly... I've had a mate but things didn't work out... I love to fish, I tend to be protective annd... I hate being sick.. What about you?

Lady Mirage
Nebula: *can't help laughing either now* Well...they can be kind of embarrasing sometimes. Yuki likes to pull things on Mira since he's much bigger than her now...but that's neither here nor there. Oh, I'm sorry about your mate, but I'm glad you and Desero have each other. Umm...me, huh? Well, mine's a sorta long sad story, but I'll try to shorten it. *she looks up at the sky for a moment, as if searching for something then looks back down at Reid* Well, I have a daughter, Nova, but no mate anymore. He was killed before she was born...*long pause as she debates going more into detail, but decides she will if he asks* I recently joined the Whispers in the Dark pride after Blake and Synda saved our lives. Do you know them?

Moonlit Monkey
Reid: I'm really sorry to hear about your mate as well.. *Has the feeling she didn't really want to talk about it, so he thought about the rest of what she said and breaks out in a massive grin* Yes... I know Syn very well... We have been friends since.. God... We were cubs... I havn't seen her much since she's had cubs though. But wow we used to have some good times... Guess I'll have to thank her and Blake though the next time I see either one of them.. *Smirks a little at her*

Lady Mirage
Nebula: *relaxes a bit more and grins back* They are an awesome family...Neo and Halo, their two oldest boys are nearly grown, and Holly's so funny. She does a good job of keeping her brothers on their toes. You should come and visit sometime! I'm very sure Synda would love to see you again, and I bet Desero would love to play with Holly and Nova as well. Are there many cubs in your pride?

Moonlit Monkey

Reid: Yeah... We'll deffenatly have to do that sometime... I'm sure Desero would have a blast! * sweatdrop 's when she asks about his pride* Well... It's not so much a pride as it is a family... It's just me, my sister and my son. We live in a beautiful location though... Right off of the river, literally. The river when it used to be a lot higher than it is now carved out the caves we live in. *Realizes he started to ramble and smiles sheepishly with a faint blush hidden beneath his fur*

Lady Mirage
Nebula: *imagines it, and smiles dreamily* I bet it's beautiful, and even if it's just you and your family, it must be nice... I've always loved that kind of landscape. Where we live, right now, is an oasis that Blake found as a cub. Full of flowers, a grove of trees to one side...and the stars at night are gorgeous. There are nights I wouldn't mind taking my place once more among them to walk their heavenly paths...there are nights I really miss it. What are the stars like where you live? *she doesn't realize she's probably leaving her companion with alot of questions as she smiles dreamily thinking about her past...at least the parts that weren't heartwrenching*

Moonlit Monkey
Reid: *Smirks a little, getting completly caught up in words and her dreamy state* They're beautiful. They get so bright that they reflect off of the water sometimes. When it's a full moon the whole land gets lit up brighter than usual, I love it. I've always loved loved loved stargazing... You were... Among the stars? *Puts his head down watching her with a smile*

Lady Mirage
Nebula's wistful smile never left her face as she began to speak. "Oh yes...for many centuries. You see, back when the universe was created, and the Moon Goddess took residence in her palace, she realized this was too big a place to watch over all by herself, so she created Guardians and gave them each an assigned galaxy. Each Guardian's task was to watch over the lions who lived on their planets and protect them from harm as much as one can, keeping in mind that they could not interfere in the cycles of life and death and free choice that was given to everyone. They could, however, make sure everything stayed in balance with nature, that the souls of those who died and who were about to be born went where they belonged, and that all was kept in peace. I was a Guardian of the Triangulum Galaxy, the nebula of which adorns my coat..."

She paused for a moment, realizing she might as well tell the rest of her story and though her smile remained wistful, it was joined with a sense of longing and sad determination. "...but I was not happy. I wanted more, but I wasn't sure what it was I felt I was lacking, so I began to watch more closely the lives of the lions under my care. I saw them be born...grow up...love...have families...and die among their loved ones. The more I watched, the more I realized that's what I longed for most. So...I began a quest to find a place where I felt I belonged most, making a few Guardians...unhappy...as I did so. Eventually I found this world and fell in love with a lion...and begged the Moon Goddess to let me become mortal. She agreed, but thought I'd realize quickly that I didn't belong here and would wish to leave to go back to my old place.

However...it didn't work out that way, as I found I was very happy here and the lion who I fell in love with became my mate. The other guardians became angry with me and killed him...the same day I found out I was pregant. A friend came to me and told me that they thought if he was killed, I would give in and go back...but I refused to. Partially because I refuse to let them think they won, but mostly because I believe this is my home, and I will not leave Nova. There are still nights, though, that i miss it, and maybe one day the Goddess will allow me to go back, but not until I'm good and ready. There's too much to see and do here yet."

Moonlit Monkey
Reid took this time to admire her coat that she so fondly spoke of. Her words were laced with emotion that only an extremly old soul could posess, it was intoxicating to the sunburnt giraffed lion. Caught up, he had completly begin to gaze at her as if she was herself his favorite star. When she stopped talking he shook his head a little to get him out of gazing.

"Such a sweet and sad story... Personally though... I'm really glad you stayed." If he wasn't so sick, the male would be purring very very lowly. He was... Drawn to her. Drawn to her like he fooled himself into believing he could be drawn towards Alba.

"You're... So much different from my mate and from.. Any other lioness I've ever met. And for that I'm very thankful.." Laughing a little he smiled truthfully and gazed into her yellowish eyes, but then sneezed looking away just intime into a tissue.

Lady Mirage
She found herself totally relaxed in his presence, something she'd not felt in a long time. Yes, she felt relaxed with Synda and her family, but a part of her still felt like an outsider looking in, and she longed for the unity they had. With Reid...Nebula found herself thinking back to how she'd felt with her old mate, and she felt them surprisingly similar. Still, a part of her was reluctant to rush in, though she sensed he felt the same. Her tail flickling lazily behind her, she couldn't help but grin a little when he sneezed. It was cute!

"As am I. The others know nothing of what this kind of life holds for those who are blessed to experience it. There is pain, yes, but it makes the happy times all that more thrilling. But, forgive me, I'm a bit confused. Why are you so thankful I'm different? Outside of my past, I see little difference beyond the fact I understand the balance of nature and life than most."

Moonlit Monkey

Reid looked away, which believe you me was hard to do, and licked his slightly chaping lips. He had to choose his words wisely so he didn't offend any listening ears.

"Well... That's just it. You know that there is a balance to maintain. You think about things that others just scoff at. They're too engulfed in their own lives to think about anyone else's unless it benefits them. Thinking about an entire other group? Thinking about an entire other society? Thinking about entire other worlds and galaxies? No way.. That doesn't happen here. When I was a cub I used to watch lions too.. Not like, creepy stalkerish watch, but also nothing of importance as you have done. Just observed attitudes, manerisms and ways of being. My last mate was... Wild, crazy and immature. And I thought that having her around would be a nice change to Desero's and my 'old-soul'. But it turns out I bored her and she ended up annoying the daylight out of me."

Laughing he shrugged, there was no insults in that, it was all truth.

"I've had the possibility of being inlove few times. Mutual feelings, possibilites for starting something... But nothing ever works out. Gods have something else instore for me I guess. So I just work on trying to be a good father, which is no easy task... I enjoy being a father, and don't get me wrong, I love my son... But I want some cubs of my own someday." s**t, was that too much to tell her their first time talking? Nah.. Reid had been longing for companionship for a long time. He was empty alone, no matter how much Desero kept him company.

Lady Mirage
Nebula laughed when Reid mentioned how his mate had annoyed him, but not in a mocking way, but a very understanding one. "Sometimes finding balance in your life is hard...and it's not always what other lions think, that maybe having someone whos' the complete opposite of you will balance you out. Yes, I admit, There's quite a few who actually do find happiness that way. Sometimes, though, the best choice is someone who's the same...someone you can talk to, and know they aren't going to scoff at what you say to them."

"There's also no harm in having or wanting a family of your own....to find where you truly belong. As for me, I am still on the search. I love the pride I am with now, but there are still times I find myself wanting what they have. Sure, we both have our children, and yes in a way we are both happy, but there's something...missing...." It was hard for her to explain what she felt in her heart into words, and she was visibly struggling to come up with how to say it. "Maybe it's a bit selfish to want more than what I already have...a sort of family who loves me...my daughter...but it's just not...enough. It's not...quite right yet....I feel much like I did before I became mortal, and it makes me wonder if the search ever truly ends for anyone, and the thought makes me sad..."

Moonlit Monkey
Reid paid attention to her and nodded hard, "Yes, I know exactly what you mean! It does end for some... Just have to work at it hard enough I guess.. " Though he didn't want to tell her that he honestly felt in the short time that they'd been talking that his search was about to come to an end, it was hard not to tell her just... Everything.

"You seem like the kind of lion that I can just sit here and talk to without boring. It really is an anomoly, and I like it. Really... I just.." Coughing a little he looked away so he wasn't coughing on her. Gods if he got her sick, he'd feel HORRIBLE. Looking back at her he smiled appologetically.

"So tell me about your daughter.."

Lady Mirage
Nebula looked at Reid for a long moment, thinking abou her daughter. "Well...Nova's alot of things. She's an 'old soul' as well, but also has a touch of her father. She's a smart-alek and loves to make others laugh, while at the same time always asking questions about things. She's a bit more outgoing than I tend to be, and little more blunt as well, but has begun to learn to be observant of others. She's got a natural talent of reading the stars...astrology I believe it's called. Sometimes she can see parts of a lion's past in them, but it's more feelings and emotions, as that is what remains behind the longest, and only if it's still strongly affecting the one whom she's doing the reading for. Often it's more snipets of what might happen if certain choices are made. As I've taught her, the future constantly changes and being rewritten with every action we make, it's never set in stone."

She blushed lightly under her dark fur, realizing that she was rambling a bit...Reid had a very intoxicating and relaxing effect on her. She felt...safe with him like she could just tell him everything, even in this short space of time. "What is Desero like?"

Moonlit Monkey
Reid took in the information and thought about it, forming a presentation of the cub in his mind. "She sounds amazing... And you seem to have taught her well from what I can tell so far." But now a broad grin set over his face as he got to talk about Desero.

"Des is... Well... He's the oldest old soul I've ever met. He's very logical, quiet sometimes and respectful. He dwells a lot on the past, even though he's just a cub he's got a quite dramatic past. When I took him under my wing he was an adult in his mind. I give him a safe, loving home and he does appreciate it. Thankfully he's starting to learn how to be a cub with aid from his friend Discord. She's a little pain, but it's good for him to loosen up. Him and I can have philopsophical discussions over just about anything. Many of times we've had them under the stars on the river bed... He's extremly bright and he does have a good sence of humor when he does lighten up." Every word from Reid's mouth was full of compassion and pride of the cub he was raising by himself.

"Though... He does need a woman's touch. And although my sister is around, she's not a mother figure.. Alba, was extremly unfit to be the mother figure to a cub of his maturity and intellectual level."

Lady Mirage
Nebula blushed deeply at his praise of Nova's upbringing, and actually had to look away for a moment, her purr deepening as her smile widened. Finally, deciding she had herself back under control, she turned her gaze back to him and listened to what he said about Desero, and couldn't help but wonder if truly Nova and he could get along....if things kept going the way they were.

"It sounds to me that you are a wonderful father...kind, caring...and a good listener. He's a lucky cub to have found a father such as yourself, even if you're not related by blood. I would like to meet him one day, talk to him myself. Perhaps Nova would be a good friend after all...smart enough to understand philisophical converstations while being silly enough to show him that being a cub can be fun. All without being a pain to us," she chuckled, thinking of his comment about Discord. Of course, there was hints that she'd love to come to his little pride and see it for herself, and spend more time with him, especially with how she said 'us'.

Moonlit Monkey

"Well thank you, very much. I do try..."

Reid smiled widely and a slightly flemmy purr came rolling itself out of his throat as he nodded. "Yeah.. I really do think that'd work out great..." Ho s**t, were they actually connecting this well? Their entire lifes just seemed to want to snap together.

"Well, Desero's spending the night with Discord and her mom Bella tonight... So... You and Nova are more than welcome to come to my pride and check it out.. Or I could come over there, however you feel more comfortable." Honestly, he didn't care as long as he was spending time with her. Learning about her, observing her and just being with her.

Lady Mirage
Nebula was pretty much have the same reaction to all this as Reid was, and she thought over her answer carefully. "I think...I would like that very much, to spend some time with you and your family in your pride, but I also think it might be best if we spoke to Blake and Synda first, to let them know so they don't worry about my...disappearance." She was actually putting it lightly, as she wondered if she could make herself leave once she got there, hence why she thought it might be best to broach the subject first with them. Knowing the king and queen as she did, she was positive that they'd be all for this, and would have nothing but best wishes for the couple, but still...better safe than sorry, right?

Moonlit Monkey
Reid grinned and nodded. "Yeah... I think that'd be best... I'd like to see them again..." He was starting to get his hopes up, and that was never usually a good sign.. But Nebula was hands down the most beautiful lioness he'd ever seen, and he didn't want to do so much as let her out of his sight. And the best part of all of this, was he was beginning to feel better. Standing up he stretched and took a deep breath.

Lady Mirage

Nebula got up to pad closer to Reid, her tail still flicking lazily behind her in contentment. "Aaah...seems the company has done you more good than even I thought it might." At this point, a light breeze kicked up a small cloud of dust into their faces, causing her to sneeze lightly.

Moonlit Monkey

Reid laughed and coughed a little since he was still sick, no matter how good he was feelin', "That right there was behond the cutest sneeze I've ever heard... Yeah, I guess you're right though.." The sun would be setting soon, but Reid didn't really mind. It'd be nice to get Nebula out under the stars, he longed for some stories. So his pace wasn't exactly all it usually was, but he was trying.. In his tail flicking he bumped hers and smirked looking over at her.

Lady Mirage
Nebula outright laughed, having never heard anyone call her sneezes cute ever. It felt good, it really did...they belonged together she was certain of it. Walking side by side, unhurried...she liked that. Some seemed ever in a hurry to get someplace and she prefered to take her time when she could, and most certainly wasn't in any hurry to end this moment. Even when they bumped tails, she returned his smirk, and when it happened a second time, she wrapped her tail around his. Maybe her daughter's more outgoing nature was rubbing on her after all....

Moonlit Monkey
She was... Not for a lack of a better word, perfect. Perfect for him so far. he knew that Desero would get along famously with her. There was no way he couldn't, as with Nova. This way he wasn't the only child again, he'd have a sister to relate to, though she's older than him. With their tails wrapped around each other he walked almost up against her. Everything was perfect... Acceeept for his cold... "How far is it exactly?"

Lady Mirage
Nebula was a bit too engrossed in the feeling of them being together to truly comprehend his question at first. "How far? Oh! The oasis isn't very far into the desert, the dunes hide it pretty well. Once we reach the border of the desert, it's about...a half hour's walk to the den from the border." She was finding it hard to concentrate on him, walking and talking all at the same time, but she certainly wouldn't be found complaining. She liked the giraffe-patterned hunk of a lion beside her far too much to worry about a little thing like that ever. In the distance, the sun was setting, setting the dunes on fire with it's glow. "Not far now. If you'd like, I'm sure you could rest there, see the family, and we can journey to your pride in the morning." She was afraid of him overexherting himself and getting sicker, especially when she wasn't sure how far they'd have to travel to his lands.

Moonlit Monkey
Once they could see the little pride, Reid became more and more ashamed of himself. He was having troubles breathing and the sand going up his stuffed nose and in his mouth when he tried to breathe out of his mouth. It was horrible, he was miserable physically, but he was falling inlove at the same time. It was the most akward feeling he'd ever felt. "Yeah... I think spending the night would be the best idea..." He coughed and turned his head again. "It is beautiful though, I'll give Blake that. He always did have a thing for flowers..."

Blake was patrolling the borders of his little pride, watching Nova and Holly as he did so to give his older boys, Synda and Inari a break from their antics. He'd earlier given Nebula permission to leave and get to know the lands surrounding here a bit better, since he knew from her history she hadn't been mortal very long and there was still much she didn't know, and he secretly hoped she'd make some new friends. Maybe recruits to the pride, or perhaps....more. They had talked quite a bit, and even though she never came out and said she was unhappy, he could tell there was a bit of her that longed for something more. He hoped one day she'd find what she was searching for.

"Nova! Holly! I'm leaving you behind..." he called out, glancing at the two cubs giggling as they followed behind him and quickened his pace.

"Hey, Dad! You got longer legs! No fair!" Holly called out, mock despair in her voice as she ran to catch up. Mounting a dune, she lost her footing and went sliding down the sandy embankment, nearly hitting her father as he stopped to watch them. "Wheee!"

Nova giggled as she watched, and called down, "Hey, try this!" She backed up a few steps, growled lightly and sprinted as fast as she could towards the summit and then jumped, tucking her back legs up with her front so that when she came down, she was sliding on her rump. Crashing into Holly, they giggled some more, a mixture of legs and tailfeathers in the sand.

"Let's do that again..."

Not too far away from them, two lions approached the border, and Nebula roared to let them know she was both back, and that there was a visitor...

"Mama!" squealed Nova, scrambling to her feet all excited to see her mom again, and mounting one more sand dune, she again took a running leap and slid down the hill to land at the feet of a....red giraffe-lion? "Woah...Who're you?" She pawed lightly at Reid's face, obviously no fear at all of the other, as Blake approached carrying Holly by the scruff of her neck.
