Hmm I wonder if when you're in japan they set the table with forks as well as chopsticks for those who can't use them. I've never been out of the us so I don't know.

We can, we can! Do we get a treat? *leans back in stance* Beating? o.0
Chopsticks are fun but is only really useful when trying to do something to cure boredom. We get angry at forks and such for their convenient context sensitive usefulness in the culinary category of our life. Rawr at rest of world eateries that don't use chopsticks. domokun

Yes they do for most places, unless you're near an on base section of living for those who are with us in military style living. We went off base for dinner plenty of times and found forks, but the further we ate away, the more chopsticks were all they had. -Mode

Might I ask the difference between the two ways? And I normally eat using chopsticks for every meal except lunch. That's in school and my dad doesn't let me bring chopsticks. So normally then I use a spoon. =) When I went to a Japanese restaraunt before, it only set a plate, napkin, and a pair of disposable chopsticks for you. They give you a spoon if it's something like soup otherwise I think you would have to ask for a fork/spoon. O.o

Me and DL used to use them for everything. Even the cooking of the noodles we'd soon be using them to eat.
