Yeah your right semes are mostly dark haired and ukes are blond alot.

Maybe since the main character is often the uke, the authors/creators want to save energy by not penning their hair in.

Seriously though, the dark complexion goes with a 'tall, dark, and handsome' image, while in this genre, light hair represents innocence. In anime as a whole, lighter haired characters tend to be inheirantly evil, but not so much in the romance section.

I never noticed but now that I think about it your right. I think they should also change it to the Seme having light and the Uke having dark

Yes, the little blondie is almost always the uke....I was reading some yaoi manga in the bookstore last week, and this poor, innocent little blond...*sigh*....He didn't know what was coming for him...

yeah, some times. but i do see uke that has dark hair. haru wo daite, iwaki has dark hair.
i think it's just the attitude of the character. the ukes are the innocent one most of the time, maybe the light hair give them a more pure look i guess.

But there's some manga that I read, where it's the uke who has teh dark hair, and the seme the light hair. ^^;

Did you ever notice that in most yaoi and shonen-ai(not all, but a very large amount) that the Seme usually has dark hair and the Uke has light hair?

For example:

Brother
Yellow
Wild Rock
Empty Heart
Boy Princess

and I know theres a lot more, but I can't think of any of them right now....

Ehh... most, maybe, not all though.

One exception that I know of is Only the Ring Finger Knows. Yuichi (blond) seemed more like he would have been more dominant while Wataru (black/brown) was the more submissive in my opinion... But then again, the story ended just after the two got together so... *grins* But Yuichi was always the one to initiate the action, while Wataru always seemed to walk right into it.

I agree that Wataru does seem to be the less dominant one in that relationship, although he doesn't come off as being completely submissive in the manga. I never read the novels.

What I have noticed that the taller one does tend to be the one that is dominate.
