Yea, we get in trouble for chewing gum in Band. Lol. Our bd is always like "I'm not trying to be mean, but How the hell are you supposed to play an instrument with gum in your mouth? How are you even supposed to keep the beat??"

We get in trouble, someone almost everyday. You have to put it on your nose, if you take it off at all for the rest of the day you get sent to the office. Don't ask how my BD knows, O.o he just does. Then you have to do these things called 'Up Downs' for the rest of class. You stand on your tip toes and then make your feet flat, and do that repeatedly, it hurts after about fifteen minutes. (We have to do that if we screw up while marching as well.) If you keep getting caught he will take points off your grade and also send you to the office. I get why he does it though. Everyone in my band is hardheaded and won't listen to him.

We just get told to spit it out but if a whole bunch of us chew gum rite before concert festival then he wont let us go. He'll cancel it

Yes, people in our band get punished for chewing gum and it is well deserved. It destroys the inside of your insturment and makes the pads stick....

There was this one time where one of the directors said that you look tacky chewing gum when you are a percussionist.

Yup, our director gives us automatic detentions for it. But he gives detentions for anything, like having your stand up to high.

My BD in my Middle School band got really pissed at me once. I was chewing gum when we were playing and since I play the Electric Bass I can do that, but she noticed my mouth moving and she stopped us playing and she was like. "Flash(my name) are you chewing gum? You know what I have said when you come into class chewing gum. SPIT IT OUT NOW!!!". It was embarrasing 'cause everyone turned around and looked at me xp . But I'm not sure how my BD now is like with gum...

lol gum chewing in band is punishible by death if caught hehehe the worst punishment is when a girl in our band was told 3rd day in a row to stop chewing gum so our BD walked up to her told her to spit it out in his hand and he stuck it in her hair, she wore a somekinda big a** hat all day long it was terrible
