Krissie Something had penetrated this darkness. He could not determine if it was external, or something in him had decided it was time. Time for what? He did not know; he had slumbered for ages. Pitching himself from the heavens to the living below. He had been no angel, just a being. What had driven him? The flowering ache within his heart did not answer his question, but added more. He had landed among the living with no care as to where or when he had arrived. He remembered water though. It had covered such an expanse that he had never touched land. And with the slowness that comes from sleeping, he lifted himself, mud and sand rolling off his think fur as he moved under the water. It was so black, was he even alive? He saw and felt nothing. This must be what hell is like. He was aware he was breathing though. But was it real? Or just the imagination? His paws were strange, restricted like he was not used to. He couldn’t see himself though. It was just blackness. He concluded though, that he was sitting on the bottom of something. So the only logical thing to do was go up. Pushing up off the bottom of the lake bed, he kicked, and almost out of instinct, whipped his tail faster than he thought he could, driving him upward. Still black? Still black. Would it end? Was this nothing but eternal blackness? He would surely lose his mind within this hellish purgatory. Or had he already lost it and was not aware that he had? Question after question was flowing through his mind, one strung to the end of another, never ceasing. His assent was slow, hindered by the unused muscles. Was this what he had always been like? Weak and slow? Desperation and panic filled his chest now and he kicked upward. He did not want to stay in this purgatory. This hellish blackness. But no reprieve was coming. No hint of life or light and the horror of losing strength and sinking back to that soft and slimy bottom filled him with a dread he had not felt since the fall. It was eternity and a day before he started picking up the signs of light. It was white though. White light from a large source. He kicked and swam more desperately. He had to reach the source of this light. Had to find out where he was. And how long did I sleep? But another fear over took him, what was at that light? Would it be worse than that blackness? While it pressed upon the soul and senses, it was familiar. He had been in that blackness for a long time. He knew that much. This light was strange and unknown. And it was not with zeal or gusto that the surface was broke. It was with a ripple. Almost gingerly, he lifted the tip of his beak to the surface he had reached and above the water line. What was this stuff he was in? He did not know of water or what it was. He had seen it in his fall from the heavens. So long ago… So long… From the stars to the deepest of shadows… He instinctively inhaled, filling his lungs with their first bit of air. And then slowly, he lifted his head until he could see beyond the distorted surface. That source of light was the moon, though he did not know to call it that. It had changed shape and waved from beneath the surface of this liquid and he had not been sure of its shape until now. And for now, he sat within the water, staring up at the place from which he had descended. It was so far away. The points of light which were called stars, but not that he recollected ever calling them that, were beautiful. He had danced among those celestial bodies once. He knew that. There were vague memories though. It was beautiful up there. Peaceful. And… something else… why had he left? The gentle sound of moving water filled his ears and then his mind. He loved that sound. This was the first he had ever heard it. He remembered that Peaceful feeling he had among the heavens, this was akin to that. The peace… but it was not the same in that questions for which he had no answers to filled his mind, disturbing his soul while his mind and body drifted with the tide. Then something more disturbed his mind once again. Am I alone? He had not seen or heard from another living creature since he had broken the surface. And fear filled him again. He could not recall who he was, where he was, why he was here, and he was alone? The crushing darkness would almost be a blessing. There, he was sure as anything that he would be alone. Up here, he would be awake… and searching… and he decided that would drive him mad faster than being on the bottom would. Some sort of purpose filled him and he turned from his back, floating on the surface, to his belly sort of. He began to swim. It mattered not in which direction. This place had an end, didn’t it? Or would he be lord and master over nothing but liquid? Unopposed because there was nothing to object to his presence? He was surer of his body now. He was using his powerful tail and occasionally his legs to propel him through this place, using this body like he had always had it. And perhaps he had… And another eternity passed before he recognized that what he was in was getting shallow, and eventually, his feet touched the soft and slimy bottom again, but it was not under that crushing blackness. He was still in the air. The water supported him easily, and without thinking, he stood in the shallows, but his legs buckled and he toppled, moving to the side a bit as he staggered and eventually fell into the water with a splash. The amount of noise startled him and he pushed back into deeper water. His heart was pounding and he was staring at the place where the water met the land and land stretched beyond. He had tried to stand, but could not. He was sore and tired just from swimming. His muscles had not been used for anything, and water was able to support him better than he was himself. He was afraid to try again though, afraid of the noise the fall made. He wanted to know he was not alone, but he was so afraid he would draw something undesired. For now… he decided, while he gathered strength and sorted out his mind, he would not venture up there. He would not… could not… So without a sound, and with barely a ripple, he slid back under the surface and returned to that blackness. He had no wish too, but it seemed he had no choice. He was not aware that a sun would ever rise. So for now, this was purgatory, a hell which he alone had to endure so he could leave… to find what though? What was there beyond hell? And when he was ready, would he leave?

Krissie Caiden trudged on through the desert. His usually pristine coat was rough from wind and dirt and he felt a soreness in him that he had never experienced before. He was hungry. And thirsty. Though what consumed his mind was the implications of this act. Was it cowardice? The unwillingness to face the problem head on. He did not have wings to carry him over this desert. Nor did he desire them. His heart was aching and it seemed right that his body ache as well. He looked up and squinted his green eyes to look into the distance but what he was met with was only the heat waves. He had long ago left the hills and dunes of sand for the flat expanse of dried parched land. It seemed to dead out here. He was alone, first the first time ever, he was truly alone. He would need to find water out here. And then soon after, food. If he survived this, he would be stronger for it. Stronger in mind, body, soul, and heart. And like he was pushing against a wall, he trudged on. He had to keep going, to stop would mean death. To turn back would mean death. His only hope was that there was something in the distance he could not see. One paw infront of the other. The heat itself was almost unbareable and his paws were sore, chaffing, and cracking from the experience. He was not aware how pampered he truly was when he had left. This journey, it seemed, had more to teach him than just how to mend his heart.

Krissie Gideon stalked low to the grass, the green blades tickling his belly as he moved along quickly. He could smell Dustlings everywhere. There were a ton here in this oasis. There were always a lot in Oasis', he had been through a lot of them. He was a traveler at heart, Oasis hoping as he called it. He had gone so far from his birth place that he wasn't sure he'd ever be able to find it if he went looking for it. But what seperated this oasis from the others he had been through was the odd structures in the center. Big... blocks of rough stuff. He couldn't determine what they were. Gideon was a wild Dust. Born and raised out in the desert itself, he was a bit small if compared to the males here, but he made up for it with sheer determination and cunning. One had to be smart if you lived out in a desert. He wanted to find some one here, ask what all these strange things were doing here among other things. Aradia Luin lay at a tree at the edge of the clan lands, nudging pages of a small story book she'd snuck out of the library with her beak, trying and get them turned without tearing them apart. The page she was currently on was of a human girl with really, really long hair, and she was throwing it down for another human to climb it. She couldn't remember what Katie had said the girl's name was- Rapnel or something like that- but she liked the story, and remembered it as she looked at the pictures. Apparently, the girl was being kept in the tower by something called a Witch, and the prince was trying to save her. Luin always thought it was nice of him, since he didn't seem to know her at all. As Luin tried to turn another page, she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. Looking up, she let out a rather loud squeak as she spotted another Dustling, a male she thought. Always timid, especially around strangers, she scrambled to try and get her book shut and hide herself. Please don't let him see me!Krissie Gideon's attention was gathered by the squeak and scramble of another creature and he dropped down lower. He didn't trust this place. Creeping along, he got sight of Luin, though he didn't know her name, and clicked his beak. She was a pretty thing. But why was she trying to run or hide from him. He wasn't one to hurt another Dust unless they were aimin' to hurt him first. Picking himself, he started walking towards Luin, "Yeh there! Hey! Mess!" He started trotting, trying to get to the female before she could run off. "I wanna ask yeh a question!" Or a few. Aradia By the time Gideon had gotten to Luin, she'd managed to shut her book and had it carefully grasped in her beak, hoping she wouldn't hurt it too much as she ran. But of course, ever the clutz, she tripped as she started running and stumbled to the ground. She'd clamped her beak shut in surprize, and felt her beak poke a hole into the cover. Oh no! Nononono! Her eyes widened in fear as she slowly got back up and let the book drop from her beak. Indeed, she had punctured the cover, and was pretty sure it had gotten some of the pages. "Oh no," Luin said mournfully, feeling her eyes water over. "I've ruined it! I can't believe I did that!" She started sobbing as she said it, her heart breaking a little. She'd ruined one of her favorite books! Krissie Gideon was a bit taken back as Luin started crying, "Ah... uh... mess... yeh be a'right?" He moved in closer to inspect Luin, he couldn't understand what she had ruined... but then he took a good look at the thing she had been carrying. It was flat... and square-ish. It was an odd thing. "Wha's thes?" He leaned down and nudged the book. "Es thes wha' yeh cryin' 'bou mess?" If this was his fault, he hadn't intended to make her do that, but first of all, he had to figure out what the hell was going on. Aradia Luin sniffled and turned her head to Gideon as he spoke, trying to scout away slightly and to make out what he was saying for a moment. Then she saw him lean to nudge her book, and she understood what he was asking about, and bowed her head shyly. "Th-that's m-my book... It's my f-f-favorite... Oh... My human will be so upset!" She stuttered, partly from sadness at her damaged book, and from nervousness around this new male. The smaller Dustling slumped onto her stomach, whimpering and looking tearily at her book. "Jennyl's right... I'm such a clutz... I don't even see why I go out beyond the barn anymore..." Krissie Gideon had been through enough places that he had gained the ability to pick up on other accents rather well, though his rarely ever changed, "Ah... I'm sorreh mess. But uh... I was'uh wunderin' if yeh culd tell meh... wha's ah... ah... barn... " His face scrunched up a bit, "An' thes es ah .. buuuk... buck... Buck?" Aradia Luin looked at Gideon curiously, wondering if he was truly serious when he asked her these things or if he was making fun of her, as that mean little Jennyl sometimes did. After a moment though, she came to the conclusion he really didn't know, and sighed. He must be new around here... You should help him understand some things.Speaking clearly so he could understand her, Luin said, "A barn is a big, open building made of wood, where some of my clanmates and I stay in. It's near a house, where the humans live... They're sometimes made of wood too, but a lot of the time they're made of stone." Her voice brightened a little as she got to the subject of books. "Books are wonderful! They're made of paper, with lots of scribbles on them that tell stories... I can't read the scribbles, but my human can, and she reads them to me all the time! Some books even come with pictures to help tell the story! Like... Lemme show you!" Eagerly, forgeting her book was damaged for the moment, she nudged it open with her beak. Then she turned it to one of the untorn pages, showing the Witch cutting off Rapnel's long hair. "See, the Witch just found out that a man was visiting Rapnel and trying to take her away, so she's cutting her hair so they can't see each other anymore!" It never occured to her that Gideon might have not heard of this story, and it didn't truly matter at the moment. Books were her best friends, and always excited the little female. Krissie "Wha' now?" Gideon tilted his head and blinked. Humans? Clanmates? House? Pictures? He was horribly confused now. "Nah mess, I dun undastan' any of tha! Wha's ah... buldin'?" His face furrowed again and he clicked his beak in mild annoyance. "Ah barn... es ah buldin'... wha's a buldin'? Those beg thengs settin' en tha meddle of tha' Oasis her?" Aradia Luin paused to listen to Gideon, trying to calm herself down as she'd realized that she was going too fast for him to keep up. She gave him a nervous grin as she nodded to his last question, adding, "Yes, they are.... Humans live in them, and sometimes Dustlings do too... Though some of those buildings are where the humans get food and stuff." She noticed some more confusion at the mention of humans, and went on to explain what they were. "And humans are... Well... They stand and walk on their back legs, and use their front ones to lift things... They have strange paws... No claws at all! And they have no fur, except on their head! They vary in size and color, and how they look... They don't have beaks... And they're squishy." Krissie "Humans!" He had seen one before. The experience hadn't been good. He had to admit that he was a rare sight. Something so detailed and interesting. He flicked his tail forward, glancing at the SPAINE spelled out across his fur, the occasional breeze distorting the image. He had assumed that the human that had gone after him and none of the others was because of his coat. He didn't know why or really even care why his coat was the way it was. It just was. "Ah can'na be stayin' her then mess. Humans ah bad news." He was on high alert now. "Bah tha way, ah'm Gideon. Was a pleasah ta meet yeh." With that, Gideon turned tail and headed back the way he came, humans were always trouble. Aradia Luin stared after Gideon curiously, wondering at his reaction to her mention of humans. Personally, she didn't really understand it. Her owner and the other human were very nice, and took good care of all the Stardusts in the house. Maybe he's just had a bad experience... she thought to herself, not exactly sure why he'd have been treated badly. Cautiously, she trotted after Gideon, not sure of what she was doing, and called to him, "Uhm... Gideon! My human isn't bad! She's really nice, and sweet, and lets me sleep with her when I'm scared!" Eeee... Can't believe I told him that... Oh well... It's true, she thought, feeling ashamed that she went running to Katie at a clap of thunder. Krissie Gideon turned and looked back at Luin. She lived with a human? "Ye live with ah human? Why?" He was becoming a bit distrustful of this pretty gal. "Why would ye wanna live with one o' them?" He turned arouns completely and eyes Luin, this one wouldn't last a moment out in the wild. Was she naturally sickly and had to be cared for? Was she just too timid to effectivly scratch out a living for herself? There had to be a reason why. Aradia Luin turned her head down shyly, and said in a soft voice, "She brought me home from the lab after my first owner abandoned me... She really is nice. So is the other human girl she lives with... There are a lot of Dustlings and Foxes and Serpents living with me, too... And there are more of our kind living in the Oasis with other humans." Krissie Gideon snorted and hissed, "Ye all mad!" He had heard tales. Tales of a place that was run by those two leggeds where they forced Dusts under their rule. Some times the tales were fantastical, other times cruel and disturbing. All of it was rumor and heresay. He had found that place apparently. "Ar' all ye dusts here like ye?" Those tales of slavery and oppression had to be true just by the look of this one. Aradia Luin was a little perplexed at what he meant by like her, and was a little frightened by his tone of voice, cringing away slightly. "Um... Well, no... Not every dust is like me... Toril, one of the demons in our household, can be pretty mean and doesn't like being around others... Especially Fenris. He's an Angel." She settled down on her hindquarters, frowning slightly at some of the things Toril had snapped at her recently. "And... Well, Vellir, one of the oldest of my human's Dustlings, is really kind, and helps raise all the new young ones that the humans might bring home," she said fondly, nearly thinking of Vellir as a mother as well, despite already being an adult when she got there. "She's one of the best Dustlings I know. She'd fight beak and claw to keep her family safe." Krissie "Ye and yer friends are not ta be trust'd. I'd had her'd stories 'bout a place like this. Thought it ta be fairie tales and rumor." The longer he stood there the more the paranoia in him was gaining hold and he glanced around nervously, crouching down low again and moving backwards slowly, "This has gotta be ah trap..." Any minute now, one of them hairless freaks would come leapin' out from behind a bush, trying to catch him in those strange vines. He hadn't understood the human's sounds. All he heard was jibberish, and even Luin's form of speak was like nothing he'd ever heard before. "Ye all mad here... livin' with 'em..." Chances are, Gideon himself was the product of another facility located far away from this one. Most likely nothing more than a pile of dust when he had been secreted away from that place and into the wild desert. That would most likely explain his coat. Most of the dusts he had encountered were much like Luin in their colors and pattern. They could be bright, but most of the time it was of natural patterns and such. Gideon's coat pattern was anything but natural. Aradia "What do you mean?" Luin asked, perplexed at his statement. She tilted her head to the side, her bright blue eyes a little hurt at what he said. I've done nothing for him to not trust me... And he's never met any of the others... "Our humans take care of us, feed us... I like my human! She tells me stories, and grooms me, and makes me feel safe!" Luin had practically shouted that, shocking herself a little. She was normally not that loud, and never snapped at other Dustlings. She didn't like others getting mad at her... But she felt she had to protect Katie, and that Gideon was insulting the human girl. "I don't know why you don't like humans... You probably have your reasons," Luin said, her voice quieting. "But I like mine. And I'm going to go home and see if she can fix my book." With that, she turned her back on the strange Dustling, heading back to fetch her book. Then, remembering she hadn't told him her name, she called over her shoulder, "My name is Luin... I hope you have a good day." Krissie "Believe what ye will then!" Gideon turned and bolted then. His stomach was rumbling and he had to find food. He was more a meat eater and was fairly adept at hunting. Meat was a lot more abundant in the desert and easier to digest than the sparse and almost inedible vegitation. But he had to keep an eye out, the smell of humans penetrated everything here. He needed to leave as soon as possible.

Krissie Food was needed, and there seemed to be an abundance of game here. Infact, he was crouched low now, stalking after a rabbit. That little animal would be a good meal compared to the small rodents and insects he was used to picking off. It had to be done near the town though. This oasis was big enough that he could easily turned around because he didn't know his way around. But as soon as he had a full stomach and something to drink, he'd be heading for those mountains in the distance. He hadn't met another dust since Luin, but that suited him fine. They could all stay in the buildings as Luin called them, with their humans. GlacialWolf Skadia lay in what shade she could find, silently cursing the heat and the sun here. Utterly baking, thats what it was. Absolutely no cold or snow at all. The closest thing to what she wanted was atop the high mountains in the distance, or underneath an air conditioning vent, neither of which were preferable but would do in a pinch. The vent did make the floor cool, and it was shady inside. Her thoughts rambled on for a while until she was brought out of a dreamlike state by a rabbit crossing nearby. Skadia herself wasn't exactly a carnivore, but more of an opportunist, so unless the rabbit had already been in a state of discourse she wouldn't make an attempt at it. Besides, the human kept her relatively well fed. It did however, disturb her that the animal was indeed being stalked. The brownish male was prowling along behind it. Skadia flicked her tail and pondered for a moment. To interrupt, or not to interrupt. She really didn't need to see the tiny creature get torn apart so close to her. With a cool air, the female grabbed a clawful of rocks and sand and rained them down at the little rabbit. Krissie So close... just a little closer... Every muscle in his body was ready to pounce. He'd have his dinner soon enough. He noticed nothing else but the rabbit infront of him. His meal. But he had to freeze when dust and rocks covered the little rabbit and sent it scurrying, further than he wanted to chase it. It was a lost cause now. Standing, he cursed and looked around for what could have caused the rabbit to run, and his eyes fell upon what he could only describe was bright blue. "Ye! Are ye tha one that chased off me meal?!" He was getting angrier by the second. He could easily identify this one as a female and she sported the wings of the corrupted. He had spent a small amount of time in a place that worshiped and idolized these off shoots of demons. His stomach rumbled again. GlacialWolf "Oh, was that a meal?" Skadia asked coldly. "It looked rather.. full of life to be food. When searching for such things, suitability must be accounted for." She smiled, an expression that could only be described as chilling. The female wasn't intentionally being a pain or haughty, thats just how she -was-. Skadia had at best an odd way of expressing herself. She leaned to the side in her little shady area and let out a quiet yawn. Anger wasn't phasing to her, it rolled off like water. Most things rolled of Skadia, no matter what the severity. "Now, if it is sustenance you seek, perhaps asking would be a better avenue." Her wings rustled gently as she pulled them close in to her sides. Of course she had no idea that he didn't trust humans at all, or she may not have offered. Though suddenly raiding a fridge, or even better, a freezer, seemed like an excellent alternative to trying to cool down in the shade. And feeding this one would make up for any disturbance she had caused. Skadia liked things smooth, free of the ripples of normal life. Krissie "Yes it was, lass. Generaly, when ye hunt, ye look for something to kill. Though, ah dun think ye Dusts here know how ta take care of yerself." This one seemed different from that Luin girl, but still, that same dependence on the humans. "An' why would ah ask when ah can take?" Ask a source of food to sit there while he killed it. It seemed perposterious to him. Why would anything do that for a predator? Of course, he had no idea what Skadia was refering to when she insinuated that he ask. "Or would ye catch me dinner for me?" GlacialWolf Skadia chuckled and gracefully pulled herself to her feet. "Oh I don't know, several of the Dusts here seem to have a high level of independence." Her tail swayed idly as she spoke and she chuckled again. The being before her was certainly unique. He was decidedly feral and a little bit... stupid. Which was fine. It was best to be who you are, rather than attempt to feign another personality. And the accent, he was from somewhere far off. Skadia found her mind wandering again, this time to where the brown dragon in front of her may have once lived. Her eyes only stared far-off for a moment before she caught herself. How rude of her. "Oh, I do apologize. Staying on task is not my strong point." Another chilling smile. She couldn't help that. "Now then, my carnivorous friend, would you settle for something not so warm when you eat it?" Krissie Gideon snorted at the comment Skadia made. He could have come of as stupid in the sheer inexperience he had with Skadia and other's way of life here. Of course, he had heard horror stories about this place from the places he's been. It's almost impossible to have a place like this with so many and not have stories spread. Both good and bad. Then there had the paranoia of humans and anything having to do with them to count in. This one was unsettling. Unlike that Luin girl. Not... evil... unsettling like that one place had been, but just unnerving in the very air around her. She was offering what he had to guess was food, but what exactly he didn't know. Though the rumbling of his stomach prompted him to at least find out what she had to offer, "Ah... suppose..." He was wary at best. GlacialWolf Skadia nodded lightly and turned to amble back to the human's house. She knew the two legged one wouldn't care if she walked right in and dragged out the whole meat drawer. Such was the way of living, in a manner of speaking. Everyone needed to eat, so if she wanted the whole drawer, what did it matter? The odd human would go get more from somewhere that must have an endless supply of the dead things. The stomach rumble, he must be starving. Ah well, he would either eat the cold cuts, or go back after the rabbit, of which there were most likely plenty more. "Oh don't worry, its not toxic," Skadia started as she wove her way through the shady parts of the streets. The comment was meant to be settling and helpful, though it could be taken otherwise. "Just a bit cold. There's a cold box in every human's house, I imagine. Full of all sorts of tasty things ripe for the taking. I don't think they care if we steal it, either." Krissie Toxic... poisonous... he was familiar with the term. Several insects that he had eaten before had been poisonous. Given him a rather nasty stomach ache though. The same could be said for plants. He had tasted almost everything from here to where ever he came from. And there was bound to be a few toxic ones. He followed after Skadia, "Hose? Hoosss... Huse..." He scrunched his face up. "Hous..." So many new words. Apparently a Hous is what the humans lived in. And a cold box that had food in it? Skadia's words started connecting in his mind, apparently he could go into any of the buildings and take what he wanted and slip out and no human would care or try and bother him. GlacialWolf "Howse, its pronounced kinda like that." Skadia chuckled again as she nuzzled into her home through a smaller door that was a bit more convienient for Dusts. She wouldn't blow his mind with refrigerator. Though it might be funny to hear him try to sound out that one. No matter. Skadia slipped quietly across the hardwood floor, her claws making the softest clicking sound on it as she approached the fridge. Cicera, ever vigilant, scrambled out of her way when Skadia gave her a small sneer. The halfbreed female always seemed to get hints. Poor thing, but it was who she was. The corrupt clawed open the cold box, and dragged the entire meat drawer out onto the floor, spilling random cuts of beef and pork, some in packages, all across the nice hardwood. Ah well. If one was to share a home with Dusts, messes were to be expected. Skadia smiled, and dragged off a rather hefty chunk of beef roast. Krissie "House." There was still the accent to his word, but he still managed to get it correct. He crouched down low and looked around sharply, he nearly jumped when the Halfbreed female scrambled away from Skadia. His fur was standing a bit on end and he was extremely skittish. Quickly, he went after the source of meat and picked out a few pieces he wanted. He wasn't particularly choosey, and snapped then down quickly, his stomach ceasing it's rumbling. It was cold, but it was quite good. A lot less messy than taking his own kill. Backing up a little, he pawed at one of the plastic wrapped selections. He was puzzled as to what was surrounding this meat. Leaning down, he picked it up and pulled at it, the plastic tearing easily in his grip. He understood then that he could atleast get it off and greatfully pulled the meat out of its plastic wrapping and gobbled it down, going after another plastic wrapped piece. GlacialWolf That accent was so unique. Skadia decided that she liked it, despite its odd sound. "You are quite on edge," She said through bites of roast, "And you have no real need to be." Tiny grin as she clawed through some packaging into roast turkey. The fowl was her favorite, though why she couldn't say. Skadia could be caught hunting wounded birds sometimes for the taste of it if nothing else. Though for the moment, she hunted through the fridge for some kind of very sweet fruits. The human didn't have those often, but they were some of the corrupt's favorite foods. Random packages hit the floor as she shuffled through, finally withdrawing with her prize, a fresh mango. The human resident of the house, however, was suddenly aware of foodstuffs hitting her well manicured floor. The floor itself wasn't the concern, having dragons in the home would mess it up in time. Moreover, it was the waste of good groceries that she was worried about. Which was why she peeked around the corner and had to resist barking at Skadia, her newest addition, to quit tearing up all the food. Wolf couldn't blame the female though, she probably just wanted the cold, and, apparently to feed her new friend. Krissie Gideon swallowed a few more bites and then actually stretched. This wasn't so bad. He looked around for Cicera, wondering where that one had gone off to. But he caught the smell of the human in an instant, and his eyes were on the human a second later. He stood stock still, staring. His fur was on end now and he was tense. His blue eyes were wide and he very cautiously took a step backwards, then another. By this point, alarms were going off in his head and was looking for a way out. Any way at all. But none came to mind, he wasn't familar with the house. And all his attention was focused on the human poking her head around the corner. GlacialWolf Skadia blinked and turned back lazily to look at the human, Wolf. That one always carried strange smells with her, all of which were very easy to detect. Apparently thats what had her new friend on edge. Wolf tilted her head and gave Gidgeon an odd look. She hadn't actually come into contact with an unfriendly or untrusting Dust, so... it must need to be treated like a wild animal. She knelt down and slumped her shoulders a little, attempting to look as unimposing as possible. "You're alright, pretty dragon." Soft voice, soothing as she could make it. She didn't look at the male as she started to put all the food away, pausing only momentarily to pat Skadia. Wolf left a little meat and the mango, shut the fridge, and walked off as quietly and unexpectedly as she had popped up to begin with. Krissie Gideon didn't have enough experience with humans to determine if one of them was a bit different than another. They were all the same to him right now. He skittered back rather abrutly as Wolf entered the kitchen and hissed outright. The soft, soothing voice did little to calm him. The humans before had used similar voices. He hadn't understood a word the human had said, but he had gotten the tone very well. As soon as the human was gone, Gideon looked at Skadia and then headed back the way they had come in. He had to get out. The walls seemed to be closing in on him now. Get out... A lot quicker than he had come in, Gideon had slipped out of the door for the dustlings and skittered out into the yard, panting heavily. The human hadn't attempted anything other than taking away the easy meat. But the short encounter had left his heart racing. GlacialWolf Skadia grabbed her mango and scrambled after Gidgeon wildly. He was acting rather strange, and at the very least an answer to 'why' was in order. After all, she had just gotten him quite tasty food, even though it was (thankfully in her case) cold. It was out of her reach at the moment why he might hiss at the human who kept the tasty treats for her house guests. And thats all the dragons really were, guests. If they wanted pets, Wolf would oblige, but generally the human left all the Dusts to their own devices. "Hey," She sputtered as she dropped her precious fruit, "What was that all about?"

Krissie Darin didn't know how his father did it. Running this clan was extremely hard and it was beginning to wear on him. He was a tad bit thinner and there were bags under his eyes. He supposed it was difficult BECAUSE Caiden was gone. While Barras did help, it didn't really do much for the emotional distress of the girls. Especially Vellir, Barras and Aletta were worried sick about their mother. He really needed to see his love, lay next to her and just be with her. Evania came along, but the usual bundle of energy was oddly quiet today, almost out of respect for how tired her father was. She'd get to play with her sibling when she got there. Darin reached the facility and let himself inside, "Enivali!" He wandered into the compound and towards the room his love usually resided in. FelineOddity Enivali perked up at the sound of her name, and smiled as a friendly face peeked into her room. "Darling!" she called, happily, and leapt to her feet at once. Giving Darin a very warm welcome, she reached down to give Evania a kiss. "I missed you two," she said, looking more relieved than happy. "It's been hell in the lab," she sighed. "I don't think Vestakia knows, but I listened to everything, and... I was afraid she'd find out." Enivali knew Vest was a changed dustling, but every once in a while she would do something that reminded her how vicious she once was. Like cheating on Octavian like that. "I'm just glad you two are here." Enivali looked up and studied Darin, and gave him a sympathetic frown. "My darling, you do look awful. Things are stressful, I see." Krissie Enivali bounced into the room and went straight for Adramelch, pouncing on him with a giggle. Darin gave a weak smile and nuzzled against Enivali, about ready to just flop down right there, "Yes... the clan is very distressed. Vellir is a mess, and Barras and Aletta are worried about her. It's hard keeping things together with my father around." "What could Vestakia have said that'd make you so afraid that she'd find out?" Vestakia could be mean, but he didn't think she'd really go so far as to physically hurt some one for over hearing. But he wasn't really that concerned about Vest, but he did want to give Enivali the peace of mind she deserved. FelineOddity Adramelch squealed with surprise-- he had not seen them arrive. He countered with a tackle of his own. Enivali nudged Darin to go lay down and relax. "Aw.. my poor dear," she cooed. "I hope it doesn't last too much longer." She shrugged weakly. "It's a pretty big thing, I shouldn't tell anyone-- I trust you of course, but if I was the one chea-- in her position, I would not want anyone else to know. I guess I just feel guilty for overhearing." Plopping down beside Darin, she nuzzled him. "I wish I could help you." Krissie Darin smiled then and settled himself where Enivali usually laid and looked over to Evania and Adramelch. They'd be okay playing. But his attention went back to Enivali and he frowned a bit. So Vestakia had an affair with another dust that wasn't Octavian. But that's not what bothered so much, "You would not tell me if you had been unfaithful?" But he had to wonder himself if he would say anything to her if he had cheated. But then again, he felt no desire too. He couldn't claim that he was an exciting Dust. He was very calm and a rather reliable and well... a safe bet, so to speak. He clicked his beak as he realized what a bad question that had been, and winced a bit, pushing himself up and lightly running his beak through the featherfur on Enivali's neck, "It's no matter though, forget I asked Love, it was a stupid question." FelineOddity Enivali combed a claw through her face's featherfur and shook her head. Cheating on Darin was the farthest thing from her mind. "You know I never would anyways," she replied, despite him telling her not to answer. Enivali was the type to fall in love, have kids, and die with her first true love. "I just hope the lab goes back to normal soon. And the same with your clan. Goodness knows Caiden has stirred up a lot of anguish in his absence. Saryn has refused to come back to the lab. She won't come back until her daddy returns..." Krissie So Caiden's absence stretched beyond the clan. He'd have to go find his sister and speak with her eventually. Caiden's disappearance shouldn't mean that everyone's life goes on hold. Lord knows what life he was living had to be put aside to take care of the mess his father left behind. He knew he'd be coming back, but that still didn't make things easier, he knew he'd be mad when his father returned, along with many others. "I know dear, It just slipped my tongue, I'm sorry." He yawned then and laid his head down. He needed rest and this was the best place to get it.

Krissie Days had come and gone. And he had been awed by the rising and setting of the sun. He had grown stronger as well. He was able to swim well now. He had just been kicking and thrashing in the water when he had first awoken. He had eaten and filled out and his coat was no longer the dirty unkempt thing it had been. He had come into his own, physically. But his mind was still in turmoil. He had no idea what what he was or who he was. But it was dark again, and no moon was in the sky to bath the world in it's pale light. And with hesitation, he made his first steps onto dry land. He was not sure of his ability to stand and walk, but he was strong enough to do it now. It would be akin to walking on stilts really. And slowly, he began to creep across the ground, trying to get the rhythm down and walk. He had actually seen other animal walk around on four legs, but some how, he had missed seeing other dusts. But that was not what he was focused on. It was simply walking that absorbed his attention. But he was managing. Slowly though. But he never left the sight of water. He had begun to attribute the lake with safety, there was nothing there that could hurt him, it was really his domain, this was not. But he would master this ability, it didn't make much sense to him to not be able to leave his world when he wished. But he also wished to see if there was anything intelligent out there. He had encountered nothing in the lake. It was only him and the fish. But he turned his gaze skyward and for the first time, really saw the stars, even those that had been masked by the moon's glow. It was beautiful down here. Lonely, he had to add, but beautiful. But star gazing could wait till later, right now he had to learn how to be steady on his feet.

Krissie He wanted to see her again. She had facinated him. Mostly because he didn't have her fawning all over him. Of course, he hadn't tried the first time. His paranoia of this valley had overridden his desire to get closer to this female. It was fairly late in the afternoon and the sun was setting. And that afternoon found Gideon peeking into the windows of Wolf's house looking for Skadia. "Skadia?" He dropped down and ran around to another window, that was higher off the ground, and the small male had to pull himself up to peek over the ledge. He didn't exactly feel comfortable with just letting himself in. But he still wanted to see Skadia. GlacialWolf Skadia muttered in her sleep as she lay beneath the air conditioning vent. Something about snow. The tapping of claws on the windows had her dreaming of it. The icy blue female missed the stinging cold of falling snow and ice on her fur, bounding through it on the tops of mountains. But here in her dream was a map. It must have been a dream, because maps couldn't call out her name. The corrupt forced one eye open as the reality of the situation hit her even through her early evening rest. She was the opposite of a night owl, in fact Skadia was usually awake to see the first light of dawn and was sound asleep before the sun fully set. This voice however, was worth waking up for. The mysterious male who she hadn't really gotten a chance to get close to. Skadia heaved herself to her feet and shook off the last tendrils of sleep and dreams to trot over to the window. She popped her head up to meet Gidgeon's face through the window with a grin. Krissie "Skadia!" Gideon had to grin as he saw her through the window, "Can I come in?" His hind legs were off the ground and he eventually lost his grip and fell to the ground. "Oof!" But that didn't deter him, he was back on his feet again and then peeping back up into the window, but not as well as he had before when he was basically hanging off the sill. GlacialWolf Skadia almost lost her grip on her usual temperment and fell to the ground laughing. Almost. Instead her laugh came out as a snort, though she was still smiling. "I suppose that I could let you in, if you promise not to dissapear like a far-off mirage." A cool and collected response, as usual. The female slid from the windowsill and trotted to unlock the 'dragon door' as her owner so cutely put it. It was locked at night to keep strange noctournal desert creatures out, even though probably only Cicera would be afraid of them. Skadia smirked at the thought briefly, and then nosed the entrance to the side so that Gidgeon could see it was open. "Back for more easy pickings from the refrigerator?" She prompted. Krissie Gideon chirped and dropped to all fours and trotted around to the door and pushed through. "I promise I won't run off this time, and I came here to see you." He didn't say that he had been stuck in his head since last time. That could be said later. "How are you doing?" It's been a little while since last time and she had made an impression on him that he hadn't forgotten. So he came back. He walked into the house further and his nervousness kicked in, but he tried to fight it back. This meeting, in his mind, was more important than that first one. He wanted to make a better impression. GlacialWolf The blast of warm desert air that came in with Gidgeon finished Skadia's awakening process. She grinned at him as he slipped into the house, an expression that came off as icy even though it wasn't meant to be. The corrupt had always been strangely unique in her expressions. Actually, she was mildly flattered at his visit just to see her. "I'm fine. Its been a little... coarse here lately." Coarse was an understatement. Octavian had come home in a storm after the sudden dissapearence of most of the residents of the actual facility in the town. Skadia could have sworn she felt him coming that day. Laurent, after finding out just whose girlfriend he'd been with not so many nights ago, fled the household before the giant halfbreed returned. It was just as well. Octavian didn't know it had been Laurent, and hell if she was going to be the one to tell him. Currently though, he was out, and so was the human resident of the household. Skadia shrugged lightly. "Male rivalry. It makes some things difficult to deal with." She swished her fluffy tail and sat down on the cool tile in front of the fridge. Blessed chill. "And yourself? How's the hunting been?" Krissie Gideon nodded a bit, the tensions between the three leading males in the clan her was usually with had risen. Barras and Darin were, as always, good little troopers, but Alaric was getting bold in the wrong kind of way. But most just attributed that to him being young and stupid. But clan politics weren't his forte, as long as it wasn't completely inhospitable there, he'd hang around. "I know how that is." In more ways than one, not only from the clan, but from his own personal experiences. He joined Skadia on the floor next to the fridge and made himself comfortable by flopping over onto his side, with a large grin. The floor was odd, but pleasantly cool. "I've been doing well, the hunting is excellent here." Mostly because he was one of the few that would hunt, so most the local wildlife didn't see him as a threat until it was too late. He wouldn't bore her with the details of a hunt though, he had come here for her, "I hope I didn't disturb you earlier." He really didn't wish to bother her if she was busy or something. Though he didn't know of many that were asleep as soon as the sun the sky. GlacialWolf Skadia tilted her head and thought about the question. "Disturb.. no, I can't recall being disturbed by you ever. Awakened, yes, but I'm an early sleeper and an unnaturally early riser." She smirked at his position, sprawled out on the tile floor. It was admittedly cute and unorthodox, not that the sentiment showed through her expression. "So, you know how it is to be caught in the middle of male rivalry and betrayal? Something you're not telling me, Gideon?" She crouched down in front of him like a puppy ready to spring, and yet looked relaxed at the same time. Actually, she was prepared for him to lash out at her in jest at the prodding joke, and the pose was for a quick escape, just in case. Krissie Gideon grinned and sat up a little bit, "Nothing to worry about. All past stuff." He wanted to dodge this subject and he hoped the sweet look he gave Skadia would put her off of it. He recognize the posture as a good one for fleeing. He didn't want her to leave, so he moved the subject onto something, "Why get up so early anyway? What's there to see so early?" He rolled onto his back next and almost purred, he looked a bit funny, stretched out on the tile floor with his legs up in the air. GlacialWolf Skadia quirked an eyebrow and huffed. Past, indeed. Eh, it wasn't like she hadn't had past.. interests. Its just that nothing ever came of them. The corrupt decided to dismiss it. Instead, the icy female chose to put on a seductive guise, just for fun. She sat up regally and crossed her front legs a little. "Actually, there are lots of things to see at first light. I, for instance, look dramatically stunning in the golden light of morning." She managed to keep a straight face for a few seconds, but eventually had to laugh at the whole situation. It really was quite hilarious, one dust sitting there like a queen and speaking with a completely fake regal accent, and the other flailing around on his back. Skadia continued to giggle as she dropped the pose and also stretched out on the tile. "And thats also when the birds start to sing in the morning, and snowcovered mountantops glisten with fresh white powder that shines golden at first light. But more than anything, thats just when I fall asleep and awaken." A bright smile crept to her beak and she just stared at the goofy male before her. Krissie Gideon had to pause and listen to Skadia. After a moment of contemplation, he rolled back onto his belly, "I'd get up that early to see you like that." The image ws forming in his mind now, and any obsession he had had with her earlier was solidified now, he wanted this one. She was beautiful and mysterious enough to hold his attention. This one seemed too perfect. Gideon wasn't exactly a creature of the night, but he was far from an early riser. and it occured to him that she'd like it quite a bit if he'd get up in time to see the sun rise with her. He made a mental note to do that, and bring her something nice too. the image of this odd little sphere thing that the human at the clan's house had filled his mind. It looked like snow falling and he thought she'd like that, so he'd take it and give it to her. But that would have to be either later thir morning or tomorrow. But no doubt, he'd meet her at sunrise within the next few days at the most. GlacialWolf Skadia chuckled, both at seeing Gideon with a contemplating look on his face, and at the idea of anyone getting up at the peeking crack of dawn with her. She clawed to her feet and bit back a yawn. The girl couldn't remember the last time she'd been awake to see so many stars out. They reminded her that she missed the mountains. Her cool blue eyes moved from the window to rest back on Gideon silently. "If you got up that early, I'd be in a state of shock and awe." She hadn't known anyone to listen to her stories of a serene morning and actually want to see it. Though she hadn't mentioned herself in the previous stories either. Skadia had to redirect her thoughts quickly so that the blush creeping up her cheeks stopped before it was visible. "And I suppose I would be flattered." Skadia smiled, and absent mindedly groomed her tail a little. "Speaking of rising, I probably ought to get to sleep soon, Gideon." This time she couldn't hide the yawn. Her habit of resting early was seriously catching up to her. Krissie Gideon pushed himself onto his paws and swished his tail around, chuckling lightly at Skadia's yawn. "Then I shall leave you to your rest then and see you bright and early in the morning." He didn't want to rush things, it was sometimes best to take things nice and slow. And he genuinely wanted to do this for her. He trotted to the door and looked back, "Goodnight, Skadia." With that, Gideon let himself out and slunk off into the night. His heart was pounding in his chest and it would be a miracle if he actually slept before he had to get up to see her.

Krissie Niran was walking, taking the time from the rest of the clan. Things were far too hectic and his sister was just as upset as the other females. So he went walking. He really did enjoy the ground beneath his feet, it comforted him. He was far too easily stressed as it was, but things seemed like they'd be okay when he went walking. ~KiraKaguya~ It felt nice to have soft sand squishing in between her taloned claws. Even though they were pretty hot, she cared little about the feeling in between her toes. Things were a little...tense to say the least within her household. Too much drama. What with Kydra throwing fits and crying constantly about her "missing" babies that their human guardian gave away.
She sighed softly to herself as she gazed into the distance. Was that another dustling she spotted? Whoever it was seriously glowed in the light. A beautiful glow. Quickening her pace she wanted to catch up with him, or her and at least socialize with normal, sane beings.Krissie Niran turned around just in time to notice another dust coming towards him. Female by the build of her. The color was familiar of that of Aletta or Alaric, but she didn't have wings... so it couldn't be from the house. He stretched and started walking towards her. "Greetings there. Fairing well today?" He flashed the purple female a smile and waited for a response, stopping when he was in proper speaking distance. ~KiraKaguya~ She continued her pace until she saw that he turned around. Did he hear her coming? A little weary, she approached closer towards him with a half smile across her face. "Hello there," She replied softly, still skeptical of him, "I'm tolerable, I guess. And you?" Needless to say she felt a little strange carrying such a conversation with a stranger she just met in the desert. Krissie "I'm doing pleasantly." His manner of speaking seemed a tad bit odd. But his overall demeanor was not entirely strange, or offsetting. "And what brings you walking my direction?" He sat down, and every little movement he made seemed to make his fur ripple like water. The reflection off his coat was brighter than most as well. ~KiraKaguya~ Even though it was common sense and common courtesy to at least pay attention when spoken to, Basara couldn't help but stare at his shiney coat. Seriously, how does one's fur coat shine so brilliantly?! She was a little envious and wanted to shine like that, too. How could a dustling surpass her in beauty, let alone a male of all kinds? He was so...so...distracting!
The female dustling made a half-scowl as she tried to organize her thoughts. She couldn't help that he was so distracting--so beautiful. "No reason," She mumbled softly. The femme wondered if she touched his fur if some of the sparkleys would rub off. She wanted some on her fur, too. Krissie Niran tilted his head and put his face into Basara's line of sight, "I would be Niran. And what would be the name to such a beautiful creature?" Many of the females in the clan enjoyed flattery, and to start off with such talk always made for good friendships at least. He knew she was looking at his coat, it was kind of hard not too. He had to get her to look at him, not at his coat. ~KiraKaguya~ Basara stumbled backwards slightly when Niran placed his face not too far from hers. She had never been treated in such a way before and even though she felt angry towards him for doing so, she knew she had no right when she disrespected him first. The female was still a little incoherent from his previous action when she spoke, "Oh, uh, hi Niran. I'm Basara." Even though his intentions were obvious, she still couldn't help but take short glances at his coat. What did he bathe with to get such a shine? Krissie "Basara. That's a lovely name. Basara...." He chuckled softly and stood up moving away from her to give her a bit more space. "And I see that you enjoy looking at my coat, and what about it intrigues you so?" He already knew, but some part of him found it amusing that she was floundering so with this apparent subject. He wasn't trying to be mean, insulting, or rude, this was just simply the way it was and there was little else that he could think to speak about. ~KiraKaguya~ She gave him a quick nod or two before she gazed at his coat again. Honestly, she didn't mean to. She wanted to stop, really, but it was his fault his coat was so distracting! Yes, entirely his fault. Basara glared at his laughter. Was he mocking her or was he simply amused by this? "It's...shiney," She replied curtly. Krissie "Yes. It is." He looked at his own coat and flicked his tail. "Though, I believe your coat to be far more beautiful than my own." He was particularly partial to purple females, as he has been surrounded by them for some time. He didn't flinch or try to apologize when she glared at him. It was true that he was a bit vain, it was hard not to be when you looked as he did. "Lovely name for a lovely dust, how do you not have males falling all over you?" He chuckled again. Niran was a bit smaller than your average male, being a twin, it wasn't so odd. ~KiraKaguya~ Her glare subdued at his flirtations. Had he no shame? She considered herself quite the beautiful dustling, but flirting with a stranger? Was he that desperate? She had no need for desperations, but his fur...the luster...She gulped to maintain level-headed. "Thanks?" The femme replied hesitantly. "Err...I haven't really met that many males yet. There are only two I live with. One's already found his mate and they share children together, though there's a whole lot of drama involving that," She rolled her eyes at the thought before continuing, "The other is a serpent." Why was she saying so much unnecessary information? There was no way she was losing it, right? Krissie There was no desperation in him. And so if he was a bit flirty, was that so bad? He wasn't so much to the extent that Caiden was, but he wasn't about telling a girl she looked pretty. He sat and listened to her and nodded, "Drama can be quite tiring, my own clan has seemingly lost its mind, all with Caiden being gone." He sighed and shook his fur a bit, he didn't really care to think about it. "Care to stroll with me Basara?" ~KiraKaguya~ This Caiden seemed an interesting fellow, though she could just about imagine any dustling missing from a family circle was a big enough deal. Back home with the "missing" babies there was already a whole drama llama involved with that. Her human could tell something was desperately wrong, but she didn't know what for the lack of proper communication. Kydra was just throwing fits everywhere, ripping apart furniture randomly. That only seemed to make things worse, though.
She nodded quickly at his words. For some reason or another, the way he pronounced her name was almost as memorizing as his fur. She could feel that her usual attitude was quickly fading in front of him. For what reason...she couldn't tell. Krissie "The weather is lovely today, is it not." He turned and started walking, letting Basara follow if she wished. And with each step, his fur rippled again and again. It was really quite hypnotic if you looked at it long enough. He was heading towards the river actually, it was a bit warm and it always seemed cooler next to the river, "Tell me though, do you prefer sunshine or rain?" ~KiraKaguya~ She quickly skipped forward a step to catch up with him. With seemingly no effort she gracefully matched his pace. Each of her steps carried a very regal lady-like elegance to them, which would probably only urge on his flirtatious nature. But she found herself not caring either it because she actually enjoyed his silly comments or that this was her natural grace.
"The weather is lovely enough," She replied. No matter what she tried, she couldn't get his image out of her mind. It certainly didn't help that his fur was even more hypnotic than before, if that were possible at all. Blinking, she found herself zoning out once more while staring at his fur. She replied without the slightest bit of embarrassment in her voice. No need to be embarrassed, it was natural to stare at things even if it wasn't necessarily polite. "The rain," She answered simply. Krissie "I'm far more partial to the sunshine, personally. The rain can leave one dreary I find." That wasn't to say that rain made everyone unhappy, Niran personally just didn't have the mentality for it. Though Kaveri seemed to love it far more than him. "But the rain does have its redeeming qualities. Without the rain, there would be no sunshine." He padded on and purred at Basara. ~KiraKaguya~ She was far more taken back with his purr than she showed. Her step faltered a little, but there was always a good excuse that could be made up on the spot for such things. There was no way she was already infatuated with him, she refused to believe. Heck, he probably did this to every female he came across. She couldn't let herself fall for such trickery, yet she felt her heart jump a little every time he did something like that or addressed her directly.
Clearing her throat, she replied dryly, "I find that the rain is more soothing than sunshine. Certain things only appear in the rain, too, when most are taking shelter. And certain scents are even better in the rain," She coughed out lightly. The femme couldn't falter now, she couldn't fall for him. Krissie He really did enjoy Basara's company. She was a lady and it was obvious to tell. "Well, I suppose I should apologize for the flirting. You're a lady and it's been rude of me to so shamelessly flirt. I suppose then, I should then properly introduce myself." He stopped and bowed before Basara, "I am Niran, and it's been my pleasure to meet your acquaintance my lady." He stood back up and smiled, "May I have the joy of getting your name from you again." ~KiraKaguya~ What a strange dustling. First he flirted shamelessly then he apologizes for flirting. He was certainly a difficult one to comprehend. Though, she would never admit openly that she actually enjoyed his little flirtations, whether they were actually sincere or not--she cared little about. When he paused in his graceful steps, she did also. Dipping her head slightly in a bow, she replied softly, "Apology accepted. Pleasure to meet you, Niran. I'm Basara." Her words this time was a little less jumbled up from the distractions on his shiny coat. She was growing a little more accustomed to it now, though she doubted she could ever fully accept it as non-distracting. Krissie He then started to move on again, "Well then, dear Basara, I think it'd do me well to move on, my sister is most likely expecting me back by now. She does so worry when I'm not around. Sorry to leave you on such short notice, it's been such a pleasure to meet you." He gave Basara another purr, apparently go right back to flirting, "I do hope we meet again, though, if you're every close by, stay a while and chat, I would love to see you again." With a short flick of his tail, he turned around and started to walk off in a different direction, "And I pray your family problems resolve soon!" ~KiraKaguya~ He was such a spontaneous character. First shameless flirting, then the typical gentleman, and now this sudden goodbye. Though, the purr did make her heart jump, maybe even skip a beat just the same as previously. Her crimson eyes watched as the beauty was but a glimmering mass fleeting into the distance. She sighed sadly to herself. How disappointing, falling for a stranger like that.

Quote: New additions to the house hold had been made and Krissie had never been more grateful for the barn house. Most of the animals slept out there now and seemed to prefer it to the indoors. She stepped out onto the porch with a cold cup of ice tea and slumped down into the swinging bench. Evening had come upon the desert and she was grateful for it. The heat was getting a bit too much now. She sipped her tea and pressed her lips together. Of the acquired pets had been a half-breed that she had renamed Morpheus. He was really quite the beautiful white and blue male. But clearly disturbed and that worried her the most. He had already had two of his episodes since moving here and Koen had a clear dislike of the male and the foxes refused to go near him. She had to keep the poor dust locked away in the laundry room to keep him from harming the others. Speaking of which, it was about time to go feed the male. She had Isoke rest her head on her knee and she rubbed the girl’s head. “I gotta go feed the big one now. Lemme up.” The yellow and orange girl backed up and headed off the porch to go romp with Hannelore and Kiona. The three females were rough housing in from of the house now. She paid some brief attention to the teal male that had pretty much taken residence here now, and had found out his name was Laurent from her friend. He was currently flirting with Blue. She ran over the idea of pretty much chasing the male off as it was up setting her boys pretty badly. But most of the females seemed to like his presence and that’s what kept her from running this guy off. After Caiden’s absence, everything had pretty much fallen apart and she was almost giving up hope the big blue and purple male would ever come back. Finally heading back into the house, she left her tea out on the porch, ready to come back out when she had given Morpheus his food. Stopping in the kitchen, she filled a pitcher of water and pulled a bowl of pre-made food out of the fridge. It was a mixture of chicken and a few cut up veggies. The laundry room was attached to the kitchen and she opened up the door. What greeted her was feature fur all over the place and fresh wounds on the dustling. The position they were in informed her that they were self inflicted. The male was huddled in the corner, shaking like a leaf in the wind. She put the food and water down on top of the washer and bent down to help her boy, “Hey there. It’s okay. Lemme see what’s happening.” She tried to pull the male’s paw off his face as she could tell there were scratches across his face. What she was greeted with was a sharp growl and further tensing. She swallowed hard and persisted on, trying to get the male to basically uncurl and let her see what was wrong so she could fix it. She should have just gotten up and left to fetch Katie to get her to help her, but she didn’t. What happened was a sudden lashing out and basically a roar. The dust caught her full force across the face. She didn’t feel the pain right away. She certainly felt the leathery paw rough against her skin and claws digging into the soft flesh of her cheek and tearing across her cheek… her left eye… her nose and forehead. It all seemed to happen in slow motion and the only thing that brought this surreal… nightmare… back to earth was sensation of blood rolling down her neck. The pain hit her once she was on her back with the large male’s beak wrapped around her arm, crushing the bone. She tried to scream for help, but all that came was a pitiful squeak of pain as she beat the male with her free hand, trying to get him off. The monster was still clawing at her, tearing through cloth and flesh alike as she tried to struggle. She could tell she was bleeding badly. She could see the growing puddle of blood out of the corner of her eye and she had to wonder if this beast was going to kill her. The dust had released her arm now and she hoped it was over, but one, final swift blow to her head made everything black… and she prayed, that he hadn’t killed her.

Krissie The demons had come back. They were crawling all over the walls and on him and he tried getting them off, but it was no use. They were on his skin and wings and no matter how much he clawed and struggled, they wouldn't go away. His world was skewed and horrible and when the door opened, what he heard was the rusted screech of a monster's gaping maw. What came through the opening was a hideous mockery of a human being. He curled tighter when it touched him. For a brief moment, it flashed back, and seemed to flicker in and out of the kind being that had taken him home and the monster that had come to torment him. The voice, was grating and horrible, and it terrified him. He screamed, finally, and lunched at the monster. It recoiled and he pressed on thinking himself triumphant, that he was going to defeat this demon that tormented him. He clawed and bit, putting all he had into the destruction of this vile being... but he blinked and was he was greeted too was soft pink flesh and crimson blood. The taste of copper was heavy on his tongue and all he could do was drop the broken arm from his beak. In the back of his mind, he could hear the laughing, the mocking laughter and the jeering, "Look! Who's the monster now?!" He disgusted and utterly mortified tremor went through him, mentally, physically, and emotionally. He had killed some one. He had murdered. He gave a choked sob and looked around. He didn't know what to do now. The voice was laughing at him, and she was bleeding. And all he could do now was what he done from the beginning. And so he ran. Ramming the screen door and not stopping, startling all that resided on the front lawn. He had murdered. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The attack on her, although violent, had thankfully been brief. But though it had been brief, Krissie's life was in very real danger. Most of the dusts were outside, the only thing that saved her at this point was her beautiful little Memory coming down the stairs into the kitchen. There was the shriek of a fox, which high pitched, carried through out into the yard. Morpheus had busted down the screen door and ran for it soon after he had gotten Krissie down. That was something else to be thankful for. With Memory's cry, it sent Koen and the rest of the boys charging into the house, only to witness their human unconscious and bleeding on the floor. That sent even more of a clamor through the house which had Katie rushing down the stairs. There were not major medical facilities in the Oasis. Only a general practitioner. More serious cases always had to be helicoptered out if it was too serious to just drive to the nearest city. A quick call had the doctor at the house within minutes and Katie was left with the unfortunate task of wrangling the dusts outside. The resulting damage had left her with a broken arm and countless gashes all over her arms, head and torso. Most of the bleeding had slowed on it's own, but she had reached a dangerous level and she didn't receive hospital care soon, she'd be gone.

Aradia "Mother, would you care to tell me where we're going?" Barras asked. This wasn't the first time he'd asked since they'd left the house, and Vellir suspected he wouldn't stop until she finally relented. He was happy that she was finally leaving the house, and that as of late she'd been looking a bit happier. However, he was both a little irritated that he had to leave Luin back at the house (he trusted Laurent with women as far as he could throw him) and he was curious. Vellir wouldn't tell him though. Smiling softly, she shook her head for what must have been the thousandth time and said, "It's a surprise, sweetheart. It would be horrid of me to spoil it for you, wouldn't it?" Barras rolled his eyes and mumbled a "Yes, Mother," that made Vellir's smile widen. Her son was a good boy, and she knew after what she'd been through- what they'd all been through- since her mate left, Barras would do anything to make her happy. If that meant making a trip across town to a destination he didn't know, he'd do it. Perhaps it was a bit wrong to manipulate her son in such a way, but Vellir was too excited to care right now. It had been a good while since she'd met her father, Legion, and today was the first day she'd managed to get out, and she wanted to see him, and the sister he had mentioned. She'd wanted to bring her daughter and grandson along as well, but they'd been unavailable, and she wanted to get out while she still had the chance, so it was just her and Barras. I hope we get along alright, Vellir wished as they got closer to their destination, and she could just see the house where she'd heard Legion lived. Please, don't let anything go wrong...~KiraKaguya~ It was a dreadfully hot day. Even though it was afternoon now, the sun was still blazing hot as ever. It felt as if they stepped outside for even just a moment they would instantaneously melt into gooey Dustlings. Such a revolting image that would be. Who would love them, then? No one would love a gooey mess of a couple dustlings. So gross. But who else was there besides the two of them to fix this problem? The human was away for whatever reason, and just when she stepped out of the household this stupid thing broke! Fans weren't good enough to keep the whole house cool. Emerald eyes squinted in the sunlight as the male stepped outside. He's had it with the whining of his female mates. They did nothing but complain. It was a man's job to fix these kind of things. He watched enough television to know. Anything mechanical was usually a man's job. And if he can't fix this little AC unit than he certainly wasn't as manly as he thought he was. The females would be disappointed, for sure. He'd show them he was more than capable to fix this little machine. Layla sighed at her father's determined eyes. Determination was one thing, but did he even know how these things worked? Honestly, men. "Daddy, are you positively sure that you can fix the giant cooling fan?" She asked as the two of them stepped outside into the blazing heat. "It's sooo hot outside. I feel like I'll melt any second now. Let's hurry, daddy." Legion was feeling the same. He had bits of doubt in his mind as the couple walked towards the side of the house where the unit was located. Watching was one thing, but how would they even fix such a machine? "Layla, dear, of course I can fix it. Daddy is more than capable of fixing such a trivial thing," He grinned as he gazed at the machine. Of course, a small flexing of his wings had to follow. Men, seriously, what was it with them and showing off? Aradia The mother and son were just a few houses away when the pair of demons came out of the house. Vellir's eyes widened a little at the sight- she recognized Legion from the last time they'd met, but had almost forgotten how large he was- and she had to assume that the female with him was his daughter. Her sister. There was no denying the resemblance, even if she wasn't a demon. She had to admit, she hadn't expected to meet her as a full grown adult, but it made her no less excited. Before Vellir realized what she was doing, she started running towards them, with Barras shouting behind her. Running in this heat wasn't necessarily a great idea, but Vellir hadn't been this excited in a long time. "Legion!" Vellir called out, just as she heard Barras call for her. A little closer than his first shouts, so he must have been following. Vellir couldn't help but smiling as she called out again, eager to get the Demon's attention. "Father!" ~KiraKaguya~ "So...Daddy, how are you going to fix it?" Crimson eyes glanced at the machine, then back at the larger demon. Feelings of doubt surfaced faster than ever. They've never seen such a machine before, let alone try to fix it. She wasn't naive enough to believe her father could do anything. There were limitations, even on heroic figures like her father. Legion circled the unit for a short time as he tried to think of a way to fix the unit. At first, he shouted at it, but that didn't seem to work. Gnawing on it was out of the picture. The thing was filthy looking. Dust collected everywhere on the filters. Nasty, simply nasty. "Let's try...hitting it," He stated as a last resort before taking a few steps back to bang his shoulders against it. If anything, that ought to do it. They would have to step back inside to see for themselves, though. An unfamiliar voice echoed in Layla's ears. Father? Did she even hear things right? She knew there were others aside from her immediate siblings she was born with. But how did they know where they lived? "Daddy, who are they?" She questioned suspiciously. A charming female followed by a male. Was this some kind of a joke? They weren't suitors, were they? She did call Legion "father", after all. Legion, of all people could never forget a lady's voice. No matter who it came from and what their relationship was with him, he would never forget. He sharply turned his gaze to meet that of the running couple. The winged one was familiar. She was Vellir, his daughter from his first mate. Who the male was, he was unsure of. He guessed he was her mate or something similar to that. She was a charming lady that took after him. No doubt she had almost equally charming males after her heart. Of course, they could never surpass her beauty. No one could. Except maybe himself, but that was a different matter entirely. "The winged female is your sister, Vellir," He replied excitedly. His spiky tail flickered behind him excitedly. What an awesome surprise this was, meeting her out here when he just wanted to fix the AC unit. Aradia Vellir slowed down to a trot when she grew close to the two demons, realizing she was acting like a little child rather than a full grown Dustling with children of her own. The female smiled at Legion when she was near enough for him to see, pausing a moment to take a breather. Running was not the best idea, she thought to herself. "Hello, Father," she said once she'd caught her breathe. "I've finally had a chance to pay a visit... Hope I didn't catch you at a bad time." The older female looked towards Layla and smiled sweetly, not certain how much her sister knew about her or how well she'd be received. Especially after the spectacle she'd just made of herself. "Ah, hello dear... I'm Vellir, and it's a pleasure to meet you." Barras caught up just a minute behind her, his chest heaving from trying to keep up with his mother. For being an older girl, she's certainly fast, Barras noted, then looked towards the other Dustlings. He tried not to show how daunted he was by the male Demon's size, or the fact that he was a lot more majestic looking than Barras. The female was closer to his size, and there was ignoring the resemblance between her and the male. They had to be related. It occurred right after that thought that the male demon was the same shades of purple and blue of his mother's spots and that he had the same emerald eyes shared by his mother and himself as Vellir started introductions, "This is my son, Barras... Barras, this is Legion and his daughter... Your grandfather and aunt." Ah... Well... This certainly is a surprise, the Dustling thought, hoping his eyes weren't bugging out of his head as he sputtered. "Eer... Um... Hello. It's... Well... I wasn't expecting this when we left the house," he finished, grinning weakly. Very smooth. How am I related to my parents again?~KiraKaguya~ Legion slowly stepped away from his youngest daughter, approaching his first and oldest daughter with a grin. He hadn't expected this of all things. They should have said something earlier so that he could better prepare himself mentally for guests. Well, not just that but so that he could tell his clan members in advanced they were expecting guests. Later on he was sure to get complaints on how the females couldn't groom themselves and appear more attractive. He'd deal with that later on with some smooth talking. "It's nice to see you here, Vellir. I'm surprised you knew where to find me...and Layla. But this is certainly unexpected for us, too. If we had known we would've fixed the air conditioning unit earlier," He chuckled light-heartedly. His emerald eyes glanced over towards Barras. A striking resemblance of his mother...and respectively of himself. More so on the mother part, though. Such a cute one, too. He should have no trouble with the ladies, Legion thought. "Hello there, Barras. It's nice to finally meet you. Your mother's told me all about you." He reached a hand over to pat the smaller male on the head with a smile. "I didn't know you were that old, daddy," She shot a short glance at her father before continuing, "But at any rate, it's a pleasure to meet you, sister Vellir and...nephew Barras," She was a bit hesitant on the nephew part simply because she couldn't believe she was even old enough to be an aunt. The guy certainly seemed a lot older than she was. Man, seems everybody in the family was old. Except for her and her triplet brother and sister, of course. None the less, she was accepting to the both of them. They were family, after all. The only other family she's ever met besides her father, that is. She could hardly contain her excitement. Aradia "I had to ask around a bit, but it seems that demons of you're stature are a bit difficult to come by," Vellir said jokingly. Layla. My sister's name is Layla, she said to herself, the smile on her beak growing warmer. The girl seemed nice, for a demon, and she wanted to get to know her. "I'm sorry for the short notice, but I couldn't get away from my clan until now... Besides, I wanted this to be a surprise for Barras, as well." If it weren't for his feather fur, Barras was sure they would have all seen him blush. He wondered what his mother could have already told about him, but he decided that it would be rude to ask. Instead, he looked at his... Aunt. She looked far too young to be his aunt; she was young enough to be his kid. He smiled at her slightly and shrugged. "It's nice to meet members of the family outside the clan... Though I have to say, I feel far to old to be a nephew of this pretty little thing." Vellir laughed and nudged her son's shoulder with her head. "Now you're making me feel old... Bad, bad boy." Her tone of voice said that he wasn't at all bad. She peered back over at the machine her father and sister were working on, raising an eyebrow. "Oh dear... Your AC isn't working? We know how bad that can be with a full house." She frowned slightly, tilting her head to the side. "I've seen the humans use weird metal tools to fix them..." ~KiraKaguya~ Being a demon, Legion was of course larger than the average male, but aside from that he was larger than most demons, too. He hadn't really seen any other male demons around here, but that was besides the point. He had an ego and pride to keep as a man and a demon. Vellir's words of course boosted his confidence. Such a sweet daughter. "It certainly is a surprise. We welcome you, though, so feel free to make yourselves at home. Though it is probably best if we head back inside where it is slightly cooler." Mother and daughter sure knew how to rub the two demons the right way. Certainly family members, without a doubt. Layla couldn't help but chuckle at her...nephew's comment. "Man, that must mean daddy here is as old as a fossil," She joked lightly. Legion chuckled lightly, as if the fact that the AC unit wasn't working was a trivial matter. This new surprise certainly occupied his mind. Family was more important than some AC unit. Fans would suffice, for now. The human should return and hopefully fix the machine. "Eh, it doesn't matter much. We still have fans, they should keep cool temporarily. Come on, let's head inside. You guys must be hot, maybe thirsty, too." Father and daughter walked away from them, entering through the side door made just for their kind. Such a good human. Thoughtful. Aradia Barras and Vellir followed into the house after Legion and Layla, both relieved to get out of the heat outside. One of the downsides of living in a desert, even a more fertile area of it, was the heat. Upon entering, Vellir glanced about and grinned a little. "You have a very nice home, air conditioned or not." Barras nodded in agreement, though he still felt a little uncomfortable. Despite being family, they were still strangers, and he could smell the other dustlings living here. And, if his feel of the older Demon were right, there were going to be a lot of females. With the exception of the ones in his family, Luin and Brighid, he was always awkward with the ladies. He didn't take after his father- or grandfather, if his hunch was right- in that department. That had been left to Darin. So now Barras was resisting the urge to fidget as he and his mother were led to the water bowls. He tried to focus upon what his mother was saying. She was talking about his sister. "I would have brought my daughter with us too, but Aletta couldn't be gotten... She's Alaric's mother, the boy you met. You'd be able to tell at first glance, their so alike in appearance." Vellir said, having caught up to Legion as they walk. "That's something that seems to run in the family." ~KiraKaguya~ Inside the house in front of where the fans were located were the other dustlings. They were all lying there comfortably in front of the cool breeze. Most of them, of course, were females. A couple of the non-clan members were sitting in front of a fan together, as if banding together as "rejects" or whatnot. Legion's ladies, however, had it best. Probably because of their strength in numbers, not to mention their leader was without a doubt not someone anyone would wish to invoke anger upon. "Make yourselves at home," Legion replied cheerfully, "Are you guys thirsty? There should be some cool drinks in the fridge, even if the AC is down." He left his family members behind as he approached the fridge, effortlessly opening it with his two arms. The demon's head poked within the cool air circulating, searching for some cold water, perhaps even ice cubes. Layla insisted on poking her head into this conversation. She had a right to, they were family after all. "Not too many dustlings have the same dark purple we seem to have. It's certainly nice to easy spot a family member from far away--especially if you've never met them before," She grinned, "And, it must be a rather attractive trait when attracting potential mates," she bragged. Aradia They settled near the fans while Legion went to get the water, albeit a little uncomfortably. Neither Barras or Vellir wanted to discuss mates- Vellir because of Caiden, and Barras because he didn't want to discuss the subject in general. However, it would have been impolite to leave her hanging. So Vellir spoke up once more. "Yes... I suppose I must agree with you. Our family certainly is a distinctive bunch. And it does bring about a lot of attention. "Like Barras has drawn the attention of a sweet little Dust named Luin," Vellir said, making Barras' jaw drop. "Yes sweetheart, even with all that's been going on, I notice how you and Luin look at each other. It's very heartwarming, and you two look so nice together-" "Mother!" Barras said, his mortification growing by the second. He was wondering if they could see his blush even through his fur. "Please, they aren't interested in my love life." "Just making an observation," Vellir said sweetly, leaning over to nudge her son's shoulder with her head. "Besides, your love life is an interest of mine, so hush." ~KiraKaguya~ While her father was still busy digging through the fridge for cool water that was accessible, Layla spoke in his place instead, "My nephew already has a female companion? My, my, aren't we quick. Though I'm sure she's quite a beautiful dustling with refined tastes if you are to like her, too. And we're interested in your love life, dear, Barras, we are your family after all," She grinned. Legion spun his head around with two bottles of water stuck in his mouth. A rather silly sight, somewhat embarrassing, even. His intentions were good, at least. He hoped they didn't mind that he stuck his mouth around the plastic, but that shouldn't prove a problem anyway. They would just have to poke a hole on the side to drink from it, so it wasn't as if he stuck his whole head in. "I hope hoo don't mnd," He tried to speak through the bottles, "Bat all we haff if wafer." Aradia Female relatives are evil, Barras concluded as his mother nodded, smiling over at Layla. "You'll have to meet her, Layla. She's a smart girl, but shy... I can't wait for the two of them to finally start their own family-" "Thank you Legion! Water is fantastic. Let me take one of those from you," Barras said loudly. Legion had walked in right as his mother had brought up the subject of him having kids. That certainly wasn't a discussion he was ready to have with anyone but Luin. Especially his mother and newfound aunt and grandfather. He jumped up quickly and moved over to Legion, retrieving one of the bottles in his beak. You heard nothing of me starting a family, you didn't hear any talk about me being involved with a female. Please give these women no more fuel for the pier! he willed. ~KiraKaguya~ The demoness smiled delightfully at her older sister's comment, "Children already? I'm glad to hear it. Here's to hoping you two have lovely, wonderful and healthy children together. I'm sure they'll be exceptionally beautiful, too, just like us all," She nodded confidently. Anyone carrying their genes must have some type of charm in them. Even Barras, who seems a little...shy and less confident has that certain charm to him. A bit different than she was used to, but his cuteness was almost radiating from his shiny fur. "Oh, good. I wasn't sure if you two wanted something else. It's a bit hard to reach the sink, but you don't seem to mind. Drink up." The old grandfather grinned as he thought of Barras having children, "So, you're going to be a daddy soon, eh? If you need some advice, don't hesitate to ask. And if you're too embarrassed, you could always ask your mother, too, I'm sure she'd be more than happy to fill in whatever gaps or doubts you have or will have." He wasn't helping his poor grandson, of course, but Legion was a proud demon. Children that carried his genes made him proud, no matter how far down the family line they were. "And when the little ones are old enough to walk, bring them over for some play time. I'm sure they'd love it, and so would the ladies." Aradia They were all out to get him, it seemed. Barras sighed at jabbed a gash in the bottle with his claws and started drinking, resisting the urge to sigh. "We aren't having children that soon..." he finally relented, fidgeting slightly. "I'm waiting for the right time to bring it up with her." "That's understandable, honey," Vellir said after she had some water from her bottle. "There's no need to rush to have children. You're still young..." She paused for a second, and Barras knew what was coming before she said it. "It's been so long since you and your sisters were babies, and while I love taking care of the children that come into the clan, I having more grandchildren would be wonderful." Barras rolled his eyes. His mother must be feeling better. The winged Dustling was kid crazy. Nyx had explained it to him once that, since she hadn't really had her own family growing up, she wanted to have a big family now. That didn't make the talks less embarrassing. "Mom, we'll have children when the time is right, and not a moment before. Now, can we please discuss something else?" His voice was pleading at the end. He hated it, but it couldn't be helped. ~KiraKaguya~ Legion couldn't help but laugh at Barras' shy personality. He was a cute kid, a nice kid, too. He couldn't be anymore pleased by his upbringing, though no doubt ever went through his mind that Vellir was a good mother when he first met her. The demon patted his grandchild on the head ever so gently, as if to encourage him to have a little more confidence in himself without the use of words. "Yes, I think it's probably best we stop embarrassing the poor kid. But I'd love to see some great grandchildren from the likes of you," He laughed. Legion didn't doubt that he probably had some great grandchildren at the time, but he was more interested in Barras for now. He seemed like an interesting kid. "So what brings the two of you here?" Layla asked, changing the subject like Barras had begged. She was, of course, curious as to know the reason behind their visit. Was it just a casual visit or something else? Aradia "Nothing more than seeing family and getting out of the house for a little while," Vellir said, willing to give her son a break for now. "Barras needed a break from clan duties, and I haven't been out of our territory in months." She smiled sheepishly then, and nodded over to Layla. "I also wanted to finally meet my baby sister." Barras nodded slightly, finally relaxing a bit now that the topic was off of him. "Yes... Things have been... Tense since Dad disappeared, and things have only recently calmed down a little... Despite having you all gang up on me, it's nice to get a breather and meet the rest of the family." Though, it'll probably be a while before I join mother for the next visit, he thought to himself. They seemed nice enough, but he was going to need a break if each visit was going to be similar. ~KiraKaguya~ "Well, it was nice of you both to visit us. Even if it was on short notice. Give us a warning in advanced next time and we'll better prepare for your arrival. Maybe next time we'll offer you something more than just water...and with a fixed air conditioning unit running," He chuckled lightly. "It was nice seeing you too, Vellir, dear," She grinned, "Maybe next time I can meet my niece, too. Or perhaps this pretty little Luin dear...with a couple kids, too." Layla was excited, for sure. She couldn't wait to meet little ones in the family even if the couple hadn't planned that far yet. "And if the two of you need any help at your place, just come see us and we'll see what we can do. Don't hesitate to call us for anything, we're family after all." Her crimson eyes glanced over at her nephew, then back at her older sister, "By chance are the two of you leaving so soon? You seem like you're about to leave at anytime now."

Aradia What did I do? What have I done? Toril kept asking herself over and over again. It seemed that, even at this disastrous moment, she would be stubborn and refuse to answer her own questions. The only response the Demoness received was her ragged breathing, the slapping of leathery wings against the air, and the howl of the wind as it blew past and through her, trying its hardest to freeze her to the core. She knew the answers, though. Not even her stubborn mind could block it out. She could still feel his fiery feather fur and flesh between her claws and fangs. A phantom of the Angel’s heat still clung to her as much as the drying blood. Oh, and there was no way Toril could forget the way his chest rose and fell, his heart and lungs laboring harder and harder every time she dug in- “STOP IT!” she shrieked, forcing away those thoughts and the unnatural pleasure that had started rising with them. If there had been any doubt about her demonic status before, there were no doubts now. She had ravaged an Angel- probably killed him- and she was most certainly a monster. He said I was still an Angel... Ha! He was on Death’s doorstep; had no idea what he was talking about, Toril thought dismally. She hadn’t meant to go so far. Hurt him, yes. Make him suffer for all the pain he caused her. But Toril was no murderer. She’d lost it when he spoke to her though, told her that he didn’t know what he’d done for that kind of punishment... Just something about it had made her lose it, and she didn’t know why. The end result had been her hurting a relatively good Dustling, one that she’d loved in another life, once upon a time... Fenris was probably dead. Suddenly Toril felt as if she were made of stone, and her whole body was frigid. She could see the lights of the town in the distance- How long have I been flying?- but she had to stop. Jerkily the Demoness descended to the sand, practically buckling to her side upon landing. Her claws and fur were tacky with dried blood, and she wanted to get rid of it, and every reminder of what she’d done that night. It wouldn’t be that easy an escape, though. Nothing was easy for Toril. GlacialWolf Little was Toril aware that she was coming upon a dragon who genuinely was a monster. Or rather, had reverted to one, going possibly even farther into the hate in his mind than ever before. Evil ruled him. Torture was his solace. The light of his angel was not there to bring him back. What was left for poor Octavian? Nothing. He was a brooding, vengeful, hostile beast. Nothing more than a beast. After all, that was what he had always been. Hadn't it? The pink and blue male was pacing, back and forth, looking at absolutely nothing in particular. Deep blue eyes fused with madness. They were sharp, if one looked in them. Piercing. They made all but the stoutest gasp when he met gazes with others. His fur was unkempt, ragged without being patchy. Fluffed out, adding to the crazed appearance and hiding a little of his lithe, muscled body. Strength and tormenting the others in his house were an obsession. Octavian would compulsively run or fly until he pitched into the dirt, furthering the strangeness of his condition. Most of his housemates had fled. Cicera was too weak to flee against his orders, and she was his newest whipping girl. He had just sent her running, before he took up the pacing. Frazzled fur whipped side to side when he turned, nostrils finally catching the scent of someone he thought he remembered, but that could have very well been a dream. Sunrise and Sunset paused, briefly, to seek out the source of this new disturbance. That, and find out just who the next victim was. A twisted grin started across Octavian's features, teeth visible in his beak as he found it, the female demon, the source of his current distraction. Oh, wouldn't that just be perfect. An absolute monster assailing a demon. He reveled in the thought, aspecially when some emotion flashed across her face that he understood so well. It was how he felt all the time. Claws to fur, slash to skin. Blood in the sand and on him. Octavian did love a good bath in crimson. He started toward her rapidly, body picking up speed with relative ease even in his strange condition. No sound uttered from him as he changed course and came flying at her. Size was to his advantage, Octavian was one of the largest dusts in the facility. Wings spanned outward as he drove toward her, beak open, pupils constricted. Toril was not done with fighting yet. Aradia There was only a moment's warning of the halfbreed's movements, a whiff of the familiar scent on the air. It was all it took to make Toril jerk to her side, rolling out of the way right before he would have struck her. When she was rolled back onto her stomach she jumped to her feet, adrenaline surging through her and forcing her tired body to react, to face the next hell that awaited her this night. The Demoness wasn't quite ready to face this one. "Octavian?" she rasped, not quite sure of what she was seeing. There was no mistaking Octavian for any other Dustling; she'd never seen another like him. However, the halfbreed was more crazed than she had ever seen him, more wild. She could almost feel the madness in his gaze, the murder in those shining blue eyes. Something in her answered back. The anger, the blood lust that had filled her when she'd struck Fenris. It told her that Octavian would be a challenge, he would fight back as Fenris had refused to. It would be wonderful to rend him limb from limb, to tear out his wings...Toril tried to shake it off. She didn't want that, she didn't want to hurt anyone else tonight. Instead, she backed up slowly, not wanting to present her back to him. "Get the hell away from me, Octavian," the Demoness hissed, feeling more demonic than she had in her life. "I've already hurt someone else. I don't want to hurt you too." GlacialWolf Octavian cursed her a thousand ways in the short moment that she dodged. So, he really did remember. Something about the demoness had been familiar after all, but what was it? Quickly the dragon racked his brain. Where, oh where could she be. The sick grin never really left his features as he considered Toril, long after she had asked the question. Finally, he remembered. Yes. The one who hated to be touched. Well then, he could fix that, yes indeed. A brush, a n**, scattered orange and black on a sea of light grains. It was about time something from before was recalled. A stroke of luck in the dark. Octavian's voice was heavy, that was the best way to describe it. Deep, with a little rasp, low and forceful on the ears. Something was most certainly wrong with him. "You cannot hurt me." He stated flatly, through a twisted toothy beak. Several long seconds later, as though a space had occured in his mind, the halfbreed threw back his head and absolutely cackled. Hurt someone else, oh boo hoo!
Yes, she doesn't know what hurt is.
Shall we show her, Octavian?
The monster is ready, he can handle this.
A rain of blood and feathers, like old times. Lovely.
And when she is drained, we can show her just why she fears being close.A new light entered the mad dust's eyes. A brightness and a more focused purpose that wasn't there before. There was a reason for all this now, and it made him all the more intent. Octavian lunged forward again, closing the growing gap between them in bounds with his wings stretched out, giving him lift and speed. Obsession had left him unnervingly fast, but certainly nothing that was out of reach for a dragon his size. While he never truely left the ground, he was very light as his maw opened wide again for another strike, a lash for pretty dark shoulders. He was reared back on his hind legs, and foreclaws would follow, a slashing rain one after the other. Octavian wasn't out to kill her though, no, not like sometimes. He was going to make her suffer, and then he was going to strike at what he believed to be a deep rooted fear in the demoness. Aradia Somehow, Toril jerked back before his teeth could touch her, but not the bite of his claws as they sunk through her feather fur and flesh. She let winced, both from the pain and the shrieking that had started up in her mind. How dare he touch me? How dare he?! I'm not his to strike, not his to touch... I'll make him pay, make him bleed...She let those thoughts linger, let them fill her mind and soul. Octavian wouldn't leave her alone, she knew. The only way she would get away was through him. Whether he was dead or alive when she got through really didn't matter. All that mattered was seeing his feathers on the ground, his blood joining the coat Fenris had left upon her. Maybe seeing my own blood spill, too, she thought grimly. Toril ignored the urge to back off this time. Instead, she drove forward at him, spreading her jaws much as he did. Only her teeth found purchase upon flesh, sinking into his upper foreleg, and she could taste the metallic tang of blood. It made her mind sing to do this, and she started to shake her head violently, wishing to take a chunk of his flesh. GlacialWolf He could feel that he had made an impact with her, mentally, even though the cost of it was possibly part of a foreleg. No matter. He had done much worse to himself, not too terribly long ago. Now the scars would match. She already smelled like he wanted her to, bloody. That hint of metallic twang struck his nose like it might have done to a hound, and drove him forward. While she was occupied with his leg, he crashed his open beak into her neck. It wasn't something he had meant to do right away, but for the moment all of him didn't care. Whatever concience he once had was dead. Warmth was running over his leg, and all he cared was forcing Toril into submission as quickly as possible. He bore down, clutching the back of her neck and drawing himself as close as he could in his slightly comprimising position. It would be easy, he knew, to simply do away with her. It would be better, far better, to make certain that emotional scar she carried would never heal. Just like his would not. Three horrible losses were more than most had to face in a lifetime, and Octavian had them in the short span he inhabited the oasis. There would be a small satisfaction to making her as broken as he. It would slake a lust that Cicera and the others could not satisfy. Not a normal kind of physical lust, no, not at all. The halfbreed was not that kind of type, or so he believed. All he wanted, at this moment, was to brutally torture a dragon he had once known as so full of herself. Bring her down to his level in a flurry of raining featherfur and crimson watering the desert. Aradia The pain didn't hit her immediately, but when it did she had to fight the first reaction to howl in pain. Instead she swallowed it down, right along side a chunk of the halfbreed's flesh as her head jerked and tore it away from the limb. The last thing she'd let him have was the satisfaction of knowing he'd caused her pain. However, Toril was in a bad position, with Octavian forcing her to the sand with his jaws and weight. Her thoughts were an enraged, frantic mess, wanting escape and to tear him apart. The part of her intelligent mind that still remained though, knew it was useless to fight back. Even if her body wasn't already tired from her flight and mauling Fenris earlier, he had all the advantages- position, strength, weight... She was going to get beaten. When has that ever mattered? was the last lucid, intelligent thought that entered her head. There was truth in that- when had the facts of her own futility ever stopped her from trying before? Her body started to thrash as she pushed back, her legs digging into the sand beneath her to try and get support, her head trying to bang against his to let him go. It hurt like fire where his mouth was, and she wasn't making much of an impact, but it was something. Her tail, though, managed to whip out and lash the male across the face with the barbs, and she wanted to smile at that. At least one blow was accomplished. GlacialWolf Octavian had a long habit of ignoring even large amounts of pain. It came from his incessant self-wounding, from which he still carried many scars. Now was no different. His own blood ran into the sand from his leg, clumping the small pieces of quartz together at his feet, but he paid it no mind. His cheek too, stung mildly and crimson dripped over his beak. Still there was no real stopping him. The futility in the female's struggles brought him to a new height of feeling powerful. The halfbreed had never gone so far in bringing physical harm to another since he entered the oasis, but all that was changing right now. He twisted, jerking her neck to keep the demon well off balance. She could claw at the sand all she wanted, but Toril would never find solace or stable ground there. Octavian flung his bulk against her, completing the task of knocking the demoness flat onto her side. His teeth had made their impression, but he wasn't out to kill her and that much was obvious by the fact that she was still breathing. Beak full of fur and blood, there wasn't much chatter coming from him still. The large male would simply hold her there a while, let her get a little more of the fight out before he let go of her neck long enough to carry on his planned 'conversation' that would lead, hopefully, to the further mental breaking of the femme. It was only a matter of time now. Aradia Toril snarled at Octavian as she was jerked from her paws and onto her side, the male pressing down on top of her. She could barely move under him, and she already knew that if she kept up her thrashing all she would accomplish would be tiring herself out. As things were her neck was really starting to bother her, and her left wing felt as if it were bent at an odd angle. Not to mention that the mere feel of him against her made her skin want to crawl off. Pig-headed to the end, though, she persisted flail and jerk as much as her position allowed, trying to wriggle away some how. Growling and hissing at him with every breath. All the while, she wondered what was going to happen once she was too worn out to keep up the struggling. Kill her? Beat her, try to break her... Or something other vile thing? It made her feel ill to think about it, but the thoughts still occurred. She wouldn't ask though; she didn't want him to know that even the tiniest shred of fear may be inside her. It certainly wouldn't help her case. Besides, she thought to herself, closing her eyes for a second, I probably deserve what is to come.It didn't take too much longer for her struggling to grow weaker, her breathing more ragged. Toril's neck hurt like hell, and she could barely stand his touch any longer. She glared at him out of the corner of her eyes and rasped, "Either finish whatever you've started or get the hell off of me, b*****d." GlacialWolf Octavian was not about to let an opportunity slip out of his claws. He had a rather attractive female well pinned, and his sense of morality wasn't kicking in at all. Now dragons didn't rape persay, they didn't reproduce traditionally speaking, however that didn't mean the large male couldn't be very lewd toward his captive. Grinning like a fool, he finally released her neck. The halfbreed didn't bother to respond immediately, instead he took to grooming out the featherfur on her throat that he had marred. A little roughly, but Octavian managed to keep a little of the intended sensual undertone in his touch of her. It wasn't as though she was in a position to argue being showered in.. affection. It was long minutes before he was finished. The twisted male groomed whatever bits he could reach without being bitten or releasing Toril from her pin twice over, until her featherfur shined. "Oh come now, you have to relax a little," he hissed, sprawling more against Toril as he muttered to her. "You've no chips to bargain with here, and are very much trapped. You're mine, Toril, and I'm going to prove it." Aradia When he finally released her neck, Toril thought- no, prayed- for a second that next would come the finishing blow. An end to the humiliation and the hell that had been that night. It was too good to be true, but even a Demon could pray for something. The halfbreed didn't kill her though. Instead, Octavian spent the next few minutes grooming her, all around the spot where he had bitten and anywhere that was beyond the reach of her beak. She had tensed up almost immediately, every muscle in her body clenched to the point that if she moved something, she was certain said something was going to snap. Toril remained that way throughout the entire process. After what felt like a miniature eternity, he stopped his grooming of her. By the end her body had started to quiver from the tension, and she was trying her hardest to get her mind away from this, trying not to think about what might come next. She missed all of what he'd said, except the last sentence. Those words made her blood run cold and her heart start thundering in her chest with fear. "You're mine... and I'm going to prove it." The Angel Thernis had said that Caelestes a long, long time ago. Toril remembered that. The Angel had had her former self in much the same position she was in now... Helpless, overpowered, trapped... Devadas had come to Caelestes' rescue that time though. A fiery savior, protecting the woman he loved. No one would be coming for Toril. She had made certain of that. A surge of panic spurred her to resist again. It wasn't as strong as it had been earlier, of course- Octavian had made sure she'd worn herself out. A frightened babbling reached her ears, and to her horror it was her own voice, frightened and pitiful, and it poured out without her even thinking what she was saying. What she shouted at the end shocked her, though. "Nononono! Not your's! Not your's to touch! Get off, get off me! I'm not your's! FENRIS! I'M SORRY I HURT YOU! Help me! Help me! Please don't be dead..." By the end she was sobbing, and anything she might have said was lost in her whimpering as her renewed struggling weakened again. GlacialWolf Octavian practically howled with acid laughter. There was no one to come save her, she was completely helpless in his grasp. Nothing she could do. Every fiber of him spurred on, willing him to take full advantage of this. He shifted and grabbed hold of her with both forelegs, stifling her weak struggles as best he could. From here, much of her upper body was exposed to him. Complete control. Wasn't that what he had been looking for all along. The male let loose a horrible evil cackle right into Toril's ear. Low, villanous, full of the unnatural hate that had siezed him ever since Vestakia's light had left and he was dominated by that evil which had threatened to sieze him for as long as he could remember. "No one is coming," he hissed, "You've ruined everything for yourself. He's probably bled to death and will never know whats happening to you right now." Oh it was delectable. Octavian ate her sorrow like a vampire, feeding off of it. It spurred him on, brought him to new heights. Roughly he groomed out more of Toril's featherfur, plucking bits out here and there on purpose. His. There was nothing she could do to stop him. "You have no savior." He couldn't have stopped even if his concience started screaming right now. "You are mine." More beautiful black fur through his beak. "No one else has claim to you." He felt as though the more acid words spilled from him, the more took their place. "You killed him, Toril." No, he wasn't going to kill her. He was going to finish breaking her and then he was going to make her completely his. Toril would follow along without protest. "You don't deserve to be helped," he growled, gripping her lightly with his claws, letting her feel his powerful body against herself. Shake, quiver, tremor, the halfbreed wanted to feel the demon's body fear his touch. He would be all over her, his fur mingled with hers. " Demon," he hissed, "murderer." Octavian's pink tail wrapped over Toril's demonic dark one. He lavished rough affection all over her neck and cheeks and shoulders with his beak. Hind legs clutched her too now, pressing the female deep into the soft sand. Bulk played an advantage here, his body outmassed hers by far. "I am your punishment." Aradia Toril didn't know why she'd said that. Why she'd let Octavian know anything of what happened, know how scared she really was. How guilty she felt. And how all she wanted right now was for Fenris, healed and alive, to come to the rescue. She wouldn't care if he hated her for what she'd done- the Demoness would deserve every ounce of his scorn- as long as he would be alright and end this nightmare. She said the words, though, and there was know taking them back. Octavian knew everything, and every word that came off his tongue stabbed at her heart and soul, as piercing as sharpened claws. The weight of him covering her, the warmth of the halfbreed was nearly suffocating. Oh, and how she squirmed and flinched at every touch, every little tug upon her featherfur. What he said was the worst, though. Vicious words, made all the more worse that they were true. He's right. He's right. You know everything he says is true, don't you? You murdered the Angel, and you deserve this, Demon... hissed the darker part of her mind, venomous with self-loathing. No matter that she shook her head weakly to what Octavian said, or how fervidly she whispered "No", Toril knew it was a futile attempt at denial. All the hoping and wishing in the world wouldn't bring Fenris to save her. Praying that he still lived was useless. No one answered a Demon's prayers. "I hate you," Toril sobbed, bowing her head and flinching away from him. Her entire frame, so small beneath his, was quaking beneath him from fear, from hatred. A voice at the back of her mind whispered, Not as much as I hate myself, though.GlacialWolf He was almost finished with her, the acid nearly done spilling from his tongue. His beak kept grooming, harshly, roughly, dropping bits of her fur into the sand on top of the ones she'd managed to slash from him. No longer did he have to hold her down quite so forcefully, Octavian's point had been made. The demoness could not escape from him, no matter what her hopes were. She had killed her love, admitted it to him, and now she was paying pennance. Not that Octavian believed himself to be righteously intervening. It was just how the encounter happened to work out. "You're worse than me," he hissed at her, more hate rolling through his voice. The halfbreed moved his tail now, stroking the demon, bathing her in his masculine scent. She wouldn't be able to wash him off for days, and every moment of it would remind her of him, and what he could do to her. "You're a murderer. You have no right to hate me." He loved this. Loved hurting her, traumatizing her. Octavian loved the feel of her shaking beneath him and the sound of the sobbing coming from a prideful demoness. It was an aphordisiac. It was everything the halfbreed could do to keep from panting, or letting his voice get husky in Toril's ears. Though perhaps he should have, it would have terrified the femme even more. But after all, he was almost finished. "You're nothing," he growled, finally unable to keep how pleased he was from leaking into his speech, "You don't deserve anything at all." He threw back his beak and laughed horribly, the sound echoing through the night sky. Aradia Toril fell quiet, save for her heavy sobs and harsh whimpers every time he yanked some of her fur out. She couldn't deny what he said. The demoness was nothing. Anything she could have been beside a Demon, a monster, had drifted away the first time she'd struck Fenris and tore into his fiery fur and flesh. I'm no Angel, she thought wearily, shirking away from Octavian at his frightening laughter. That sound sliced into her as sharply as fangs or claws could have. She squeezed her ruby eyes shut against the sound, her smaller frame quivering all the more. I deserve this... Angel... Fenris... I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.GlacialWolf Octavian was still laughing when he settled down next to her. He was going to sleep near her, suffer her to seeing him as soon as she woke. The halfbreed was horribly evil, and there was almost nothing now that would turn him around. Too much had happened that would force him to be this way forever now, or so he thought. "I told you that you're mine," he whispered, lustfully now to her. The giant halfbreed curled around her smaller body, one foreleg over her to prevent escape. It was simple, she would sleep next to him because there was nothing else she could do, of that he was certain. Grinning horribly, Octavian lay his beak down over her and closed his eyes, Toril's whimpers and shaking actually lulling the vicious beast into a state of relaxation, and it wasn't long before he slept.
