*warning- following breese block of text may include spoilers*
Just Recently finished the story to TJ & Earl 3 for the X-Box...Hmm, it is better than Panic on Funkatron and it is a competant (and still funny) 3D adventure game...
I'll cut to the point- in TJ&E 1 it was barly more than impled (in comparison to TJ&E 3) that ToeJam & Earl were rappers &/or in to hip hop, where as in TJ&E 3 it's more ToeJam(or DJ TJ as he wants to be called)=Pretty Fly for a whit...red thing, Earl=a fat yellow laid back Dr Dre (so Earl's ok still) & Latisha(new character)=too much attitude, gets her own rap during the loading screen & should shut the heck up. However the attitudes asside, this is still a fun game to play!
Other Pros & cons
Pros: *A load of the old enemies/earthings return including: Mr Boogey Boogey (the boogey man), Mad Dentists, Cupid(little **** messed up my control direction again), Tornados, moles(Still stealing prezzies), Fat man with mower, Mothers with shopping trolly, Oh & Father Christmas is still in it- I just can't seem to catch the rocket powered fat...sod. stare
*Big Earl will Eat ANY food (even if it is maggots with vomit sauce) & find it nice, to make up for his lack of speed.
*The Majority of areas (missions) you enter switch from day to night & back (night time is when you'll see The boogey man/Boogey men).
Returning prezies include: Icarus wings(in 3D! biggrin ), Rocket Skates (rocket skates now have a controlable speed- "Evil Skates" however, don't eek just like TJ&E 1), spring shoes & different variations of randomisers! scream
*can you do those dance missions in GTA: San andreas or the games Parrapa the rappa &/or Um jamma lammy? if so then you should find taking out groups of earthlings all in one go easy as you've got to do a similar thing if you find a special group of "funkify notes".
*It still goes split screen when player 1 & 2 go further away from each other than the edge of the screen leaving both players to search the entire level seperately if they wish - and goes back to full screen when the 2 players are close again. There is also no distance restriction in that level (unlike GTA: San Andreas, Medal of Honor: Rising sun for example)
Neutral *You can now "convert" earthlings & talk to them at any time (with the exeption of enemies like the boogy man & the ghost cow who are only temporaraly converted)
*There are different versions (well, colours) of the same character, a yellow boogey man for example.
Cons *I havent spotted any roads, the Tomatos or catapult present, seen the Phantom Ice cream truck yet cry (that was possibly the worst enemy to come accross in TJ&E 1)
*Apart from being a "female" addition (and a mouthy annoyance) to the game what is the point in Latisha? ToeJam is fast, while Earl is slower but can't accidently eat any food what will take any life off him. Does Latisha kick harder or something?...I think it's that rap what really put me off her.
*This game is better just using text for the lead characters (as before) when dealing with the story, because with the exeption of big earl (and maybe the funktapotamus) their vioces are annoying.
*being in 3D I had camera angle issues, like a mole came over a hill at stuff knows what speed very near me (berely saw it never mind had chance to escape it).
*The ending's not great (not shocking, but not great)
*It's just dawned on me, possibly my main gripe with this game- every cut scene is concentrating more on hip hop/rap and less on humour although the scenes with the funktapotamus &/or the anti-funk are ok.
*Unlike ToeJam & Earl 1 in 2-player, both players can't search a level each at the same time, they are both restricted to search the same level.
In short: The developers seemed to have concentrated on the rap/hip hop rather than the humour in TJ&E 3. It is better than Panic on Funkatron & a REALY good attempt at a 3D TJ&E game, however Toe Jam & Earl 1 is still the best of the three IMO! (TJ & E 3 is still worth playing though)
