Newt, meanwhile, was frowning intently at his large flat feet, a look of misery on his chinless face, "I... I sup-sup-suppose... I d-don't have a ch-choice... if... if th-they're g-going to... to evict me..." It was horrible. He didn't want to do it, but this Jordan made it sound like he had to. That faithful moment when the wolf had come to taste fresh tender rabbit meat came rushing back into his mind, and he shuddered, the frightened tears bubbling back up and he sniffed. He'd call the labs. He'd call the labs and ask them if what Jordan had said was true. He had seen no evidence beyond the man's word that he worked for the labs- it might have just been a practical joke. Some of the other islanders trying to tease him because they knew he had been a janitor. Still, the knots in his stomach twisted and clenched at the terrible fear that maybe he was telling the truth!

“You’re making a wise decision. You’ll see this is for the best.” He leaned back against the tree, closing his eyes as it felt good to rub the pawpads of his footpaws.
He felt quite accomplished for getting Newt this far and actually admitting that it was for the best, even if he had no clue they would or could evict him. Sometimes one threat was just as good as any other, even if it was built upon lies. It was rewarding on some level to mess with the frogman and if it meant he was going back to the labs that was bonus points. Somehow that really pleased him. The labs were good in his mind and they were to be obeyed, not betrayed. The frog had turned his back on them and that was unacceptable. He had to be brought back.
“Welcome back to the team, Newt. We missed you.”
