She reached the edge a moment after him and leaped out, whirling to face him, looking much like a wet dog, with her mane slicked down the sides of her neck and down her front legs. Then she sped towards him, and shook. Her hair, mane and tail, went flying, drenching everything in its path- and it would get Zaphiro did he not get out of her way in time.

He wasn't expecting that. The second that Yue had charged him, Zaphiro had been positive that she was ging to ram him and braced himself accordingly, ready to throw his weight back at her if she tried to hit him.
He wasn't expecting her to simply shake herself.
Overcompensating for the hit that never came, Zaphiro flailed wildly for a moment in an attempt to regain his balance. Droplets from Yue's shaking coated his already soaked form, but the fact that her manuever was successful did nothing to affect his expression...because he was falling. And with a large splash, the stallion was tumbling back into the water.

She sneered at the stallion as he fell. The splash! Shooooot! She flung herself into the air, getting only her lower body wet. "HAH!" she crowed, jubilant. And settled herself down on the bank, so that when the stallion edited, she would be waiting, looking precise and superior. As, of course, she was. He was a stallion after all.

Zaphiro had closed his eyes against the water, but it was still a bit of a shock to the system to be plunged in once again. Still, he was only underwater for a few moments before bursting to the surface, tossing back his mane and and glancing about himself for the mare. Bright as she was, it didn't take long for him to spy her reclining on the bank, a smug expression on her face. Definitely not a timid mare.
Well, he wasn't going to give her the satisfaction. Flicking an ear, he gave the mare an amused look. "Given up already, Yue? Man, I was thinking that you had more to you than this, throwing in the towel already." Deliberately, the stallion spat a stream of water in the mare's direction, then flopped backwards into the water again.

Oh! Oh! The gall! She was up in a second, and prowling the bank, looking for the perfect place to jump in. She couldn't stay on the bank long, certainly, and he was a slippery one, this Zaphiro. She flung herself into the water with a mangled battle cry, going after him. And no mercy!
Where had he gone when he flopped? She glanced about, eyes stubbornly open against the water. ARGH, COLD! She surfaced, eyes taking in the surface, looking about for blue and sparkly.

Submerged as he was, Zaphiro could tell the second she jumped in. And how was that a difficult thing, considering that the water was clear and pure, unclouded by dirt and debris. But the water was deep in some places, like where they were, which was probably why she wasn't lunging at him yet. But he couldn't hold his breath forever, and she'd seen him soon, which meant it was time to act.
Chuckling to himself, Zaphiro kicked off the bottom of the water and swam upwards, directly beneath the mare. Now, would she notice him in time, or would he be able to complete the shoulder lift he was planning?

She could almost feel something bad coming. Something bad. And she didn't like it. She shifted about in the water, beating her wings against the surface, looking about, legs moving frantically as she fought to stay afloat. Above? To the side?
At the last second, she thought about below, but....
She spun in the water, eyes scanning the skies and the shores frantically. Where could he have gone?!

"Brbl." Zaphiro had been just about to shove Yue skywards when her flailing foot unexpectedly hit the side of his head. It was a light hit, but enough to catch him off-guard and make him both jerk to the side and gasp, which, considering he was underwater, probably wasn't the smartest course of action, as it caused him to inhale water...

Thunk. She felt her hoof hit something, and glanced down through the water to see Zaphiro. "AIIIIE!" she yelped, and shot further away from him, so both would have room to maneuver around. And hopefully for him to get to the surface...
And then she noticed that, well, bubbles weren't breaking the surface, and he didn't seem to be surfacing, and... was he inhaling water? It took a minute for the consequences of that action to process, but when they did, she sliced through the water with worried eyed, apologies primed to fall from her mouth. When he surfaced and could hear them. If he surfaced and could hear them...

Panicking seemed like an appropriate response right now. No, scratch that; BREATHING seemed like an appropriate response, and panicking wouldn't help him achieve breath any sooner. He didn't feel like drowning today, all things considered.
But it didn't look like today was his time to go anyway. Kicking off the side of the spring, he burst up to the surface and into the air, coughing vigorously as his starved lungs tried to replace water with air. Completely forgetting Yue for the time being, all that mattered was breathing...and man did it feel good.

"I am so sorry!" the mare wailed, flinging herself at the dark blue stallion thoughtlessly. He was alive! Alive! And it wasn't her faul;t, and she didn't have to tell Safi she'd killed his friend! Or tell her mom she'd killed the shiny stranger! Or hide, terrified she would be attacked by a horde of his angry friends for inadvertently...
Almost jumping right onto him as he spluttered, thrashing about on the surface, coughing. She barely managed to avoid hitting him, landing in the water right next to him with a splash, and coming up nose to nose with him. "Are you okay?!"

A few more moments passed before Zaphiro really took note of Yue's panic or proximity, intent as he was on breathing. But a few splutters and gasps later, he was able to nod in response to her question, though more than that seemed slightly impossible.
Still, he reassuringly touched noses with her before pulling himself out of the water and sprawling out on the back, feeling completely watered out for now. After a few MORE moments, he was finally able to speak, albeit a bit more softly than normal.
"Well, that was a flawed move on my part, wasn't it?"

She followed the stallion onto the shore, settling herself down next to him, watching him with still-worried eyes. "Flawed, yes. I suppose that would be a nice word for it." she grumbled, relaxing a bit- as he was still breathing, and now able to talk.
She stood up, trotting restlessly around the area for a few minutes. "Do you think you're ready to go back?" she asked him finally, trying to gauge his ability to move by his ability to talk. "I find myself less and less eager to go swimming, or really, stay here." she glanced over at him. "We can walk, if need be."

"That might be a good idea, yes." After all, how long were she and her mother planning on staying around? He doubted it would be too long, as there wasn't much to hold anyone's attention around the teepee. Besides, he was pretty sure that he'd had his fill of cavorting for now. Actually, he'd probably had his fill of cavorting for a while, to be frank.
Pulling himself up to his feet, he gently shook the water off of his wings, testing how useful they felt. Maybe a bit longer wait for flight.
"I'm sure that we don't need to have your mother worrying. Come on, the path is this way."
