Jack was splayed on the ground of the commons room; a solitary black figure lying beside the hearth, the fire was a blaze with light; sending warmth through his entire body. The dungeons were so cold during the winter time. Up above him boys and girls were probably outside, enjoying the winter holidays, unless they were at home enjoying a nice Christmas with their family. Jack however, was one of the students staying, he didn't like going home. He seemed to be a nuisance whenever he was home. Maybe it was because he didn't openly speak enough, or vice versa. It just seemed to be too hard on his mother. And he hated seeing her distressed. Nyo purred and rubbed against Jack's face. Jack smiled weakly and daintily petted Nyo's sleek back. Nyo meowed softly, before stretching and climbing onto Jack's belly.
God Damnit, Nyo. Mental note: Never leave your belly un-protected.
Jack stared absent mindedly up at the green tinted ceiling. It seemed just days ago that his father had been killed. But no, it was the winter holidays. This was supposed to be a happy time for Jack, not a time to sulk and be lost in despair about his father. He should go and visit Hogsmead, or maybe he should go venture to the library. He didn't have any homework. He had finished that yesterday, but maybe he should just go down to Hogsmead. He could go have a butter bear. Jack still lay motionless, deciding whether to go to Hogsmead or take a nap.

Jack woke with a start, at first he didn't remember anything of last night; but then it all came flooding back into his head. He had made a friend, her name was Carmilla. He had cried in front of her, and Nyo had been there. He sighed, and fell back against his bed spread. Thank god it's morning... he thought; I thought that day would never end...
Jack got up and looked around; all the students were fast asleep, he could hear low snores and wheezes as his fellow Slytherin wizards were lost in a deep slumber. Right behind his bed was a big window; he stared into it and saw the vast green inside of the lake.
Then he turned away from the magnificent lake, and rummaged through his trunk to find some clothes. Once he got his hands on some pants, underwear, a shirt, and socks, he got everything on. Then he pulled on his sneakers and tied them up. Jack stood and grabbed his Hogwarts back robes, and then he whirled around, and marched out the door; down to the great hall to have breakfast...

Liz came into the common room with her arms full of books, parchment and quills. She took a seat near the fireplace and started working on some last minute homework.

Melody walked into the common room with a big leather bound book from the library. She looked at everyone with her yellowish-green eyes then shook her head as she walked to her favorite courner of the common room. She sat down in her chair and started to read her potions book.
"What exscatly is the plan you are all trying to come up with?" She repiled as she looked at everyone over the top of her book.

People call me a 'Half-blood' or a 'mudblood' because I am not from a prominent line as they are. I just laugh at their stupidity for they have failed to realize that it is not blood that makes the witch...
Erkamina Katsume Erkamina Katsume, or as she was normally called 'Mina', sat in the common room near the corner of the room, trying to avoid eye contact with anyone else. She was well spoken in spite of her apparent shyness but she didn't want to deal with the fact that she was indeed a half-blood in a house of purity. She hung her head in silence and looked at the room with her blue eyes, scanning for any trace of hostility at which she would just leave. Slytherin was her assigned house for one main reason, her mind. Although she was courageous, she was also selfish and would do anything for her own gains. She was smart and wise yet she was sly as well. She 'would fit' here as the Sorting Hat said after much deliberation. She begged mentally that the tattered thing would change its mind but its decision stood as law. She shook her head softly as she looked around once more, her eyes speaking volumes of her strangely out of place status. The green snake now lay emblasened on her uniform, but secretly she wished it to be a Lion or something else... And yet a few people seemed to speak of pranks, something she seemed to be eager to listen in on. As she adjusted her position to that of the observer she sighed, announcing her presence "so... What exactly are we planning folks?" Blood means nothing. Magic does not come from blood but from something much more meaningful, the heart.
Halfblood of Slytherin.

With a loud crash, a volley of curse words, and a muffled cry of pain Jack came tumbling down the stairs. To any on-looker his painful quagmire might have looked like a swirling ball of black robes. To Jack, however, it looked like a tornado of a tie flapping left and right in front of his peripheral vision, a black shirt waving around below him, feet flying forward, and the floor rushing towards his face.
He hit the floor with a loud thud and, after a few moments of straining his eyes to look up at the tinted green ceiling, propped himself up by the elbows, and looked about the seemingly empty room. The fire blazed in the hearth, which was surrounded by large and heavily cushioned armchairs, and rain lashed the windows outside.
"Huh... Thought it wasn't supposed to rain during spring.." he thought to himself as he rubbed his throbbing forehead.
