The worst show I've ever been in was called 'Believe'. It was an adaptation of a book about alien abduction stories. Basically, the 'plot'... was a whole bunch of people recounting their frights of alien abduction, or stories others told them, none of the 'characters' actually had any sort of alien encounter. To sum up, it was a book that was told from the perspective of one person, turned into a play split into 24 roles, when only two of them were neccessary.

The worst I've seen: The Piano Lesson, I've read the script, great script, the production I saw was horrid though. It was over three hours long, I actually fell asleep at one point in time (felt awful because I did so). It was the worst show I have ever seen... The worst I've been in: The Canterberry Tales (highschool version)! AHHHHH!! The horror, the horror. It must have an an agony to watch! I was Jane Weeks, who by the way isn't even a real character in the original tales! It was awful! Bad acting, bad costumes, bad lighting, great scenery though! lol!

The worst I've seen: A production of Grease... It was awful. Sandy couldn't act, Danny couldn't sing, and there were only 2 good actors/singers in the entire thing.
The worst I've been in: Definitely The Sound of Music. The VonTrapp kids sang beautifully separately, but when they sang together, it was like hearing a chorus of four-year-olds.

Worst show I saw was a production of Twlefth Night at the Arden. The actors were all wonderful and I loved the set design to peices, but the way it was cast kind of ruined it. Sebastian and Viola were both played by relatively young people while Olivia and Orsino were played by, not old, but older people. It kind of looked as if Sebastian was dating his mother. gonk
Worst show I've been involved in, was the production of Romeo & Juliet my high school did when I was a junior. Worst. Juliet. Ever.

Worst play EVER: The Honorable Urashima Taro. I had nearly blocked it out of my memory. But it's still there. It was a childrens' play, but that wasn't an excuse for it being horrible and stupid. I've spoken some about it, but the sheer painfulness of this play bears repeating. We were in SHINY kimonos (shiny BAD for auditorium stages!) and doing fake kabuki. Like we would walk around in a circle to show distance/time passing, but there were no stylized movements and only like 6 people wore kabuki makeup out of about 30. And I won't even get into the octopus heads.
The sea monster was one of those rolling painter's scaffolding things and we domed it with pvc pipe. Then draped it with a tarp that had a bunch of sparkly sea-colored cloth remnants sewn to it. Then we strapped a kid to the front to snarl and growl and be mean. Oh and there were about four kids, fully visible, who just kinda waved their arms around and pushed the scaffolding. It was so dumb.
And I should mention, the set REALLY looked like something out of Spongebob Squarepants. Oh, god.

I sat through "The Sound of Music" in a local community "theatre" it was a big room with lawn chairs for seats and a tiny "stage" onone end. But my friend was playing Liesl so i had to go support her. SHE (and my other friends) was good...no one else was really. Isnt that how it always is? xp

Well, I havent seen too many shows, but here's one I heard that was REALLY bad:
Witchtales: OMG, the music did NOT fit the subject (salem witch trials). The song untitled 'The arrest" was all flowing piano music. The music and drawings in the book thing were nice, but the singing and other stuff SUCKED!
Also...
Carrie: never seen it or heard it, but it was only open for two days, so I'm assuming it's pretty bad. Anyone see it?

well it's between Hello Dolly and Les Mis. In Hello Dolly i had all the inside scoop on what was happening cuz my dad was "directing" it. Not really though because the principal had the bright idea to make the Tech person, the Drama person and the Music person all "Co-directors" yeah...stupid. and then the girl that played Dolly was just a pain in the a**. a freshman prima donna with no brains who dosn't realize that if you walk directly off the stage and say the F-word before the sound people turn down your mic, then the entire audience is going to hear you. Then she figured she'd better turn her mic off herself to prevent such a thing from happening again and instread forgets to turn it back on for the "Hello Dolly" number. Then there's the fact that the trumpet player that they hired because they wanted it to sound "professional" couldn't play to save his life.
and les mis was just bad all around. The best actor/singer thy had in that show was the kid that played Gavroch (sp?) and the part where Javert commits suicide was hilarious because thy didn't have a fly system so they lowered the bridge down on this rope from some machine or something and it fell about half a foot at a time and made a loud CHUNK sound every time right in the middle of his song.

I do recall this one play that I saw that just bugged the heck out of me...it's called "The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui" It was basically one giant parody or metaphor of the rise of Hitler...except Hitler was a short little asian kid and it all had to do with vegetables (more specifically cauliflower). For god sake! The swastika was replaced by a god forsaken cauliflower!!! I wanted to kill myself right then and there...The actors were extremely good while using that script...I mean, if it weren't for them, I WOULD have killed myself right there. Besides, there was this really eye-opener between two of the minor guys...Besides that, the set was just a couple of wooden boxes the whole time, regardless of the setting. Arg.

Me again. My schoo's production of West Side Story went amazingly well...except for two little things. One was during our school previews for elementary kdis and the other on opening night.
Our conducter is an idiot. During the previews wejsut show kids little parts of the show. For "I feel pretty" we were starting from a certain line and going straight to the song. Obviously she didnt know this so after the line was said Consuela and Maria and Rosalia jsutstood looking at each other and smiling uncertainly. When the orchestra did come in it was in another key. That would have been fine as none of theelemnetary kids cared BUT on opening night the orchestra started playing "Tonight" during the scene change for the balconey scene and then stopped all confused. So Tony and Maria stood looking at each other for a good minute before Maria took matters into her own hand and started acapella.
It was scary watching them from backstage. Luckily we kicked a** after that.

We did A Street Car Named Disire. WORST PLAY EVER!!! we are a very low budget school so we had next to no set at all. We had one actress, Mara that toke it serouilsy. We worked our asses of all the time for it and got next to no where. Our prop tech was also our costume tech so she had no time to get all the props put on and taken off. we had a sack of meat out there for about 4 scences. I am a lighting tech. with a board from the 60s i think, and they got their lines out of order so i did a black out a little bit to early. We also did Once Upon A Matteress. And during the song, "i'm in love with a girl named fred" Fred picked up the weight and it was made of styrofoam and when she put it down it broke. And when she was playing the sleep scene the queen and her both let go of this beauitful glass goblet at the same time and broke. Our mute king steped on the jestor and said "oh sry man". sigh

Bugsy Malone *shudder* My directer had vocals playing, while we sang! And the best part is, we were in a different key(we were using the musical book, not the movie soundtrack's xp ). It was HORRIBLE!
