Alto Saxes. The don't practice at all, and they are extrmly mean towards females, redheads, and flute player. That sucks because I'm a red headed female flute player... sweatdrop They always try to play As loud as possible and it burns a hole in my ears. They'd sound good if they practiced. Sorry altos. I still love you.

In our orchestra (We don't have a band, so the clarinets have to endure the overblown egos of the violinists), the brass section is by far the worst. Then come the violas, then come the violins, the flutes, the cellos, and the best are the clarinets. We rock heart

in my band, its not really a whole section thats the worst, its more like a few people in the sections that make it bad.
lets review, shall we??
trumpets- they're pretty good, they all take it seriously, and if anything, they're the best section.
percussion- all in all its good, but we have this one guy in there that is so funny, but her breaks almost everything. he inverted the crash cymbols (sp?), got his finger stuck in the tamborine, gets kicked out of class alot, ignores the dynamics and plays forte (sp?) for everything, along with much much more.
altos- heres the major problem. they can all play good enough, but the upper class men dont take it seriously. at all. they will over blow just randomly cuz they can, some dont even play the peice, they talk constantly, and treat band more like an easy A than actually wanting to play.
tenor- we only have one, and he doesnt talk ever, and i can never hear him play, so i couldnt tell you.
baritones- they're ok. the first chair, if she plays baritone that day (she'll switch from that to a trobone i think, or sumthin like that) is really good, and loves playing it. the other two got moved from the trumpet section, so they are good too.
oboe- we only have one, and shes really good too.
bass clarinets- we have two, and they are pretty good. when we get to the harder songs it takes them a bit to learn it, but it all works out
clarinets- they are pretty good, but they either they dont play loud enough, or the rest of the band plays too loud to hear them.
flutes- thats me! the second part players have some issues counting (sometimes, they'll hold a half note for the whole bar while we're just learning the peice, and they'll play a measure early). the chair in front of me insists on sleeping durring class, even though its last period, and she should be awake by then and actually gets pissed at me when i tell her to wake up, and says she got home late/didnt sleep well last nite, so i always say, "well, thats not my fault, dont take it out on me!" and the first two chairs, while they are amazing fulte players, they talk too much, and it gets us in trouble.
trombones- they are good, i think. i dont really know, i cant hear them play
tubas- we have two tuba players, but i think they each play a different kind of tuba, but im not sure. one of them cant seem to remember his fingerings, and i dont know about the other one.
and...... i think thats it....

The worst in our band is the trumpet section. Most of them have only been playing for a year and our conductor is always hassling them about their posture, because they don't sit up straight enough. It gets really annoying when I have to hear it constantly during every practice. I'm first chair for clarinet and I always sit up straight, even when I'm not playing, so it really aggrivates me when most of the trumpet section don't sit up straight. There are probably only about 3 out of the 8 who can actually play and sit properly.
Next, its the Sax section. The first chair can't really play that well and they are always coming in early or really late. It's really annoying when they don't get something right and we have to stop just for that single bar or phrase, and even then, they can't get it right....argh!
