"I daresay you would be forced to accompany me on such an endeavor, creature, for I know neither the location nor appearance of your mislaid apparel." Slipping into a shirt and tossing a thick cloak about his shoulders he spun around and backed up to her. "Fancy a ride?"

Maea stared at him. "You must be kidding me." But it didn't look like he was. He seemed serious, actually. She sighed. "Hang on a minute." She settled her wings carefully against her back, making sure they were comfortable before she began. This spell was a quick and fairly easy one, but it had the disadvantage of not working too well if she moved her wings. Her eyes drifted half-shut, and she muttered under her breath. Her wings didn't disappear, precisely, but they became transparent. There was a slight shimmer in the air over her back, but as long as she didn't move them, her wings would stay invisible to anyone who wasn't looking for them. Now she was ready to go. She stared at him for a second more and shook her head slightly before climbing onto his back. "You're one of the strangest people I've ever met, greshak." That was becoming less an insult and more a nickname by the minute.

"Keeps people on their toes, yes, except for yourself, being firmly upon my back as you are." Instead of walking to the door he once again walked to the window and pulled open the shutters. "Pardon the long step, if you will, but I fancy not the glances we would receive should we exit by way of the stairs." without another word he stepped onto the windowsill and jumped down to the snow-dusted cobblestones below.

Maea sighed. "We're gonna get stares anyway. It's that way," she added, pointing to their left. "Down this road a few blocks, then we'll turn left at the cutler's shop." She shifted uncomfortably. Maybe she should have just walked.

Faelin shifted her weight and rotated his injured hand a couple of times before returning his grip for travel. "That we shall, but I deal extensively with the innkeep and not once has he had the pleasure of observing me with company. I would prefer my reputation at the inn remain intact until we return. Should an unkown female mysteriously appear during the late hours of the night he might have cause to become flustered." Following her directions he turned left once they reached teh butcher's shop. "If you must misplace your finery in the future, might you choose a place just a tad more reputable than an alley?" Wrinkling his nose he carried her off the main road.

"Where do you suggest? I need somewhere that nobody can pin me down, somewhere secluded, and it has to be cheap. Preferably free. What better place than an alley? Take a right just up here." She grinned. "Besides, I don't know what you're complaining about. Your work is a lot messier than mine."

Faelin stoppedi n his tracks, head cocked to the side, and he looked over his shoulder at Maea. "It dawns on me, creature, that I know next to nothing about you. Who are you? What is your true vocation? What, pray tell, were you doing in my wardrobe?"

Maea sighed and shook her head. "Can we not discuss this in the middle of the street? Go into the alley." She hopped down from his back as soon as they were well into the shadows, then went over to the barrel where she had stashed her belongings. It was all still there. Thank goodness. She pulled the boots on, then swung the cloak over her shoulders. When she looked back at Faelin, grinning, she gave an impression of 'another face in the crowd' that made her almost invisible even standing right in front of him. "What do you think, greshak? The spellwork took a while to work out, but I have to say, making it part of the cloak was harder. Needlework is not my thing."

"A bloodline then." he responded. "Tis a good thing for you, possessing the magical capacity to imbue such simple clothing with your enchantments. Long and hard have I studied yet I cannot make so much as a glimmering pebble." Faelin cocked his head to the side. "You look celestial yet your n** is more that of its polar opposite. The ability to imbue marks you as a fullblood of either." Crossing his arms he leaned against the wall while she finished tying off her boots. "Now then creature, you denied my query before though now the requisite conditions are met. Perhaps I may learn even a spare hint of your identity or purpose?"

"I find it hard to believe that one as supposedly intelligent as you doesn't recognize a thief when you see her at work." She grinned. "What else do you think I was doing in someone else's house at night? He already had someone to warm his bed, even if I were to consider stooping that low. I have my pride." She grinned. "Oh, and you ought to stop calling me 'creature'. It's annoying. Try Winter." She'd used the name before; it was obviously a false one, but then, who expected a criminal to give her real name?

"It is undeniably rude to simply assume a person's occupation based on the first encounter. What if, perhaps, you were a lonely serving girl at some deplorable teahouse and he offered you a substantial future? I could not be entirely positive until you came clean after all." Faelin, sighing with extravagance, dropped his shoulders and looked at Maea in mock depression. "Alas, she rejects the pet name given in exchange. Shall I, too, reject that which you have bestowed upon me?"

Kira had managed to talk the priest into staying at a friend of theirs house overnight. In fact it seemed it was easier to talk him into anything, which made him the perfect priest for her plan. The friend they stayed at was one of the guards, and they waited until it was his shift at the wall, and walked with him there. Once they had made it. The young priest looked at her with a look that lacked any patients. “All right…what is so important here that you dragged me out here”.
Kira pretended to be studying the wall as if looking for a specific spot. “Wait” she said simply. It was her plan to wait until the priest and his friend begin talking about something, and sneak out. She was through with this town, and all its troubles. With her brother gone there was nothing to hold her here, and she no longer had a desire to be a priestess anymore.
The priest nodded with a sigh. “Okay…but only for a little while…there going to miss you at the temple if your gone to long”, he said. Knowing that they should be headed home by now, his career could be at stake. He sighed again, and started talking to the guard.

"What?" That one took her a minute, then, "What, greshak? To be honest, I was surprised you put up with it this long." She grinned. "Faelin, wasn't it?" She gave an elaborate bow, flourishing her cloak. "Pleasure to meet you. Now, I believe we were going to... 'masticate and secrete enzymes'?"

"That you called me by something other than my name brings a measure of calm to my heart, Winter, for it means less people overhear and notice my presence." Throwing her a wink he extended an arm in a gentlemanly manner. "Yes, quite, chew and swallow and all that. Shall we? There's this perfectly delectable little bistro down by Dammund's."

"Greshak it is, then." She took his arm. "That sounds lovely. Actually, I'm glad to be with someone who knows this town. I haven't been here in-- a long time." How long had it been? At least half a century. The place had changed.
