Monday, March 28th

Jeane accuses me of being blatantly hostile to "Sweet little Kauggie". I can't beleive her! Why can't she see what a horrible monster that dragon is?

Bah. It's not like I like candy anyway. I've started sneeking out at night and sleeping in Conan's room, in Draco's old bed. I miss that flame haired little monster.

Conan's octopus, Watson, is funny. He seems to pick up on my hostily for Kagura, and will slither all over her whenever possible. She'll scream, and it's funny.

Wednesday, April 14

Jeane, Conan, and Bob, left last night for Japan. Unfortunatly, I'm trapped in a house with Kagura. I spend most of my time in Conan's room. I still sleep there, with Vinny.

Luckily for me, though, Dhee doesn't take any of Kagura's act. He's quite grouchy, but at least he's not screaming at me to be nice to poor widdle Kauggie. Poor little Kauggie, my wings!

April 25th, 2004

I am being punished for my sins. For a long time, I wondered why I was being treated so well, when I was cast down for being sinful. With the 'birth' of my newest 'sister', I see that my punishment was waiting to arive.

Chaya is her name, and I swear that she and Kagura have joined forces to destroy me. She's so pretty, with her darling blue hair, and her lovley blue tipped wings. Once again, Jeane can't see what she's like when she leaves the room. The little darling becomes bossy and tries to make me do her bidding.

Hah. I'm done with that particular act.

For hundreds of years, I served Him. And I refuse to bow down to some prissy, babified angel thrown from heaven just like I was! One more order, and I will be forced to take matters into my own hands. And beleive me, Little Chaya will not like that at all. Hmph.

In other news, the house seems to slowly be settling into Dhee living with us. I've found myself becoming quite close to him. He doesn't take crap from anyone, and he actually seems to listen to me. Amazing, that.

Conan's been rather strange since he returned home. He becomes moody and sighs a lot, but just mention the name "Kiri", and he perks right up. It's cute, really.

We got a letter from Draco a few days ago. He seems to be doing well. I'm glad. I really, really miss my little dragon brother.

Tuesday, May Thirty-First

Every now and then, I nearly snap. I do not know why, but it is usually Chaya's fault. Both she and Kagura infuriate me. Both of them attempt to attack and otherwise make me uncomfortable.

I've recently gotten permission to sleep in Conan's room. At least I can acutually sleep there. I swear, if this keeps up, I truly will snap.

Sunday, June Twelfth

Jeane has left, following Bob and Pepito. Now Dhee has followed her, leaving myself and Conan in charge. I hope to live up to expectations.

Kagura snuck beetles into my sandwitch this morning. I threw her in a closet before scrubbing my tounge for a half hour. A terrible flavor, it is.

I'm worried about Conan. You can tell he's trying to be brave, but he's very attached to Jeane. He's such a strong little boy. I'm proud of him.

Getting the family back

Conan peered out from the kitchen window, towards the tree. It'd been nearly four days since Dhee had followed Jeane through the portal, and nothing had been heard from him since.

"You wanna follow?" Rene asked, scrubbing a dish. Mignon was drying plates, and she looked at Conan with large eyes.

"Can we go get Mommy?" She whispered. Conan frowned, turning away.

"I-I don't know." He said quietly. "Mommy told us to stay here."

"A week ago, she told us to stay here." Rene replied, flicking her wet hands into the sink. Grabbing a towel, she hopped down from her step stool. "I think we should go."

"Find Mommy!" Mignon agreed.

"We're just a bunch of kids!" Conan argued. "We'll get killed!"

". . ."

"Sure, fine." Rene brandished the dishtowel at him. "Just abandon her!"

". . ."

"Dhee told me to take care of everyone!" Conan cried. "I can't let anyone get hurt!" Conan paused. "Where's Mignon?"

"She went out back." Rene replied, putting the dishtowel down. "We're going to get Jeane. You can come if you want." The angel gave her wings a shake and started down the stairs.

Conan sighed and reached up for Daisuke, who was sitting on his head. "What do you think?"

With uncharacteric firmness Daisuke replied: "Go after her."

The boy sighed again. "Fine." Grumbling slightly to himself, he clomped down the stairs and stopped by the greenhouse to tell Lilac they were leaving. The flower girl blinked at him once or twice, then went back to grooming her flowers.

The group surronded the tree. Conan reached for both Rene and Mignon's hands. The onion girl shot him a supportive smile. "Everything will be fine." She assured him. Rene gave his hand a firm squeeze.

He took a deep breath and fell towards the tree. An electric feeling ran through his body, making him shake. When it stopped, he gasped and surveyed his surroundings. They were in a large hallway lit by torches. They could hear a loud, female voice ringing. Mignon perked up.

"Mommy!" She breathed, running towards the voice. Rene reached out and grabbed her.

"Wait." She warned, frowning. "Let's look closer, first." Gripping Mignon's hand, she crept down towards the voice.

"That's... Not Jeane." Daisuke said, shuddering and gripping Conan's hair. Indeed, no matter how much the sweet, young voiced sounded like their mother, the words that were said could not have came from her mouth.

"It was so easy to get you here!" Her laugh was nothing like Mom's, Conan thought. It was mean. "All I had to do was wait for your stupid guardian to come back. And catching him was oh so easy. All I had to do was get him to scream a few times, and you came running." It sounded like someone kicked someone else, and a low moan followed. Rene stiffened, knowing who made the moan.

"We're in trouble." She thought, eyes widening. She looked over at Conan and Mignon, biting her lip. I was the one who pushed them to come. "Well." She said out loud, softly. "Shall we go?" Conan, being the largest, held onto both girl's hands and walked though the door.

A strange sight awaited them. Jeane, her eyes narrowed, stared at them. Bob lay on the floor in a pool of his own blood, Pepito was tied up beside him, Dhee was wrapped in chains, halfway into his dragon form, and there was a human sized wooden doll.

It was Jeane who spoke. She spoke slowly, as if choosing her words carefully. "Kill the boy first." She said, extending a finger towards Conan. Mignon screamed something intelligible, and Rene thrust herself in front of the boy. Not a moment too soon, it seemed, because an arrow caught in one of her chains.

"Aren't you a brave little dear?" Jeane asked, hand over her mouth. "Fine. Shoot a will, men."

Now, her plan might have worked, if the doll hadn't lurched forward and wrapped her arms around Jeane's throat. She started to splutter and choke, grasping at the unrelenting wood.

The archers didn't seem to know what to do, because no more arrows rained down upon the trio. "Come on!" Conan hissed, pulling the girls towards Pepito and Dhee. Rene went to work on the chains while Conan and Mignon tugged off the rope. Chains gone, Dhee let out a roar and charged Jeane and the doll. Pepito whimpered and gathered the bady injured fairy in her arms.

"I think we should get out of here." Conan whispered. Bob blinked blearily.

"Why is it that every time I see you, you're getting hurt?" Rene asked gently.

"Shut up." He mananged to force out.

"Well, we've got Bob and Pep, Dhee, Jeane is locked in mortal combat with a doll-"

"No, Jeane is locked in moral combat with herself." Pepito ammended gently.

"Uh, okay. Mignon's here, I'm here, Rene's here, Dai's-" Conan patted his hair, but the tiny boy wasn't there. "Homigod." He breathed.

"He's over there." Mignon said, pointing at Dhee, Jeane, and, uh, Jeane. If Conan looked hard enough, there was a little green dot in Dhee's hair.

"Jeane's going to kill me." He whimpered.

"Archers! Fire!" Jeane screamed.

"Let's make with the running now!" Pepito cried, standing and dashing for the door as fast as possible, considering she was carying about two hundred pounds of dead weight. The three children followed her, and Dhee, Daisuke, and the doll came after them a few moments later. Howling like banshees, the group reached the gate and found themselves in a large pile of arms and legs in the backyard.

"Bob, you alive?" Dhee's voice, heavily muffled, asked from the bottom of the pile.

"Mmmph." The fairy grunted.

"That's encouraging. Pep?"

Her voice was pained. "I think... Your elbow's in my stomach." She said, heaving. Dhee apparently corrected that, because she sighed.

"Co?"

"Here." Conan said, reaching for his glasses.

"Rene?"

"I think my chain busted Mignon in the mouth."

"It did." The onion girl was near tears.

"Daisuke?"

"Mmminyrrhrrr!" A tiny, very muffled voice said. Dhee reached in his hair, untangled the relequiant, and brought him up for air.

"Jeane?"

Silence.

"Jeanie, love?"

"ITHOUGHTITOLDALLOFYOUNOTTOFOLLOWME!" She howled, forcing her way to the top of the pile. Conan stared at her, wide eyed. Not because of her rage, but because one of her arms was made out of wood. As her chest heaved with angry breathing, the arm slowly turned back into flesh.

". . . Dhee followed you first." Mignon said, meekly. "An' there weren't any adult's no more. We were worried."

"Yeah, yeah." She growled. "I think we all need to get inside, get checked over, and get to bed." Jeane gently helped Pep prop up her brother and move him into the house.

"There's a lot about that I didn't understand." Conan said, taking Daisuke from Dhee.

"Why?" The little man asked, smoothing his hair down. But Mignon gasped, stars in her eyes.

"If you love something enough, it'll be real!" She squealed, chasing after her mother.

Sunday, July 10th.

My wardrobe has changed.

It started with a simple black tee shirt and a pair of jeans from Jeane. The witty thing she is, the tee shirt says: "I solve all my problems through violence". That certianly gave her a laugh.

To please her, I changed from my usual white dress. To be certian, it was getting quite threadbare. The shirt hung nearly to my knees, and I had to roll up the pants several times. I'll need wing holes added as well, because my wings don't like to be hidden under a shirt.

I tromped outside to show her, and how she squealed! She grabbed me up and held me close, bubbling about how cute I looked. She added a knit rainbow cap on my head, and sent me in to look at myself.

I looked almost human. A little girl with a circle above her head, and wearing chains.

It's almost laughable.

Return

Heavy steps stalked up the stairs. As if the person realized how noisy they were being, the steps became nearly silent. Fingers gently traced the green wall before opening a door.

A little boy slept in a crib, there was a tiny little bed on a shelf, another young boy slept in his bed, and a little angel slept in the last bed.

Long arms reached down and picked up the angel. She frowned momentarily before curling into the arms. The intruder sat into a rocking chair and gently rocked back and forth. Rene reached up and grasped the collar of his tunic and sighed.

Rene woke several hours later, frowning. She shifted around, trying to figure where she was before her eyes opened. She blinked at the face above her untill it focused. It was green. With red hair. And when she let out a shout, the eyes were bright blue.

"Draco!" She squealed, hugging him. Draco laughed.

"Hiya, Reenie." He said, hugging back. "Why were you sleeping in my bed?" He asked, teasingly.

"I missed you." She said, voice muffled. Conan sat up, rubbing his eyes.

"Hey." He said, voice muffled slightly. "Welcome back." Draco nodded.

"Good to be home."

July 20th

That Mignon has grown. I think my reaction wasn't quite what she expected. I said something I shouldn't have, and stomped upstairs.

I hate watching everyone else grow up.

Maybe I'll never grow. That'll suck.

Saturday, July Twenty Third

It's offical: Mignon hates me. She's even been hanging out with Kaugra and Chaya.

Lovley. The girl who can shatter glass with her voice wants me dead.

But it is so, so nice to have Draco back. My little dragon brother is the only thing keeping me sane right now. Not that he's really little anymore.

He's been trying to get me to fly, though. With these chains, it's nearly impossible. But I won't take them off. I don't think they would come off, even if I tried.

Breathe

Ninety five degrees. Wearing her black shirt and jeans, Rene was nearly swimming in her own sweat. She sat in a lawn chair, shaded by an umbrella, while several other children swam in their pool.

It was the first time she'd seen Dhee without his usual pants and tunic. His upper torso was covered in shimmering white scales, which seemed to protect him from getting sunburned. "Pretty good for arrows, too." He grinned winningly at Pepito when he caught her looking. Bob huffed and flattened himself to the side of the pool.

Jeane, dressed in normal clothes, was floating in the center of the pool. She occasionally shot a jot of water over at Rene, temporarily cooling the chained angel. Chaya would happily swim by, shooting smarmy looks over at Rene.

Everyone had swimming lessons except Draco, who had learned during the winter in a trough in the basement, and Rene, who would sink like a stone.

After an hour or so, everyone started to get out of the pool. Jeane was first out, hauling InuYasha and followed by Conan. Mignon pulled out afterwards with Pepito and Bob. Dhee waited untill Chaya and Kagura got out before he got out, leaving Rene in her lawn chair, napping.

She awoke about a half hour later, blinking in the sunshine. She stood and stretched, looking around. No one was around, and the pool cover was off. She slowly scaled the ladder and started to tug the cover onto the pool. If she didn't Jeane would, and the woman didn't need to move around more than she had to.

It wasn't her fault, really. One of her chains caught in a bolt on the ladder and yanked her backwards, sending her spiraling into the pool. She gasped for air, but the chains dragged her to the bottom. Water filled her nose and mouth as she strained to pull herself up.

I'm going to die here! She realized as her vision started to dim. She still struggled, but her attempts were weakening as her body reacted to the lack of oxygen.

Memories played across in her head as her eyes closed. Landing by the table outside, meeting her new family, always trying to be good. Attacking Kagura, living with Chaya, losing Draco. I love you, everyone.

When her consciousness faded, the chains slowly slid from her frame and she floated to the surface.

Jeane casually looked out the window to check on her a moment later and dropped the plate she had been holding onto and screamed, dashing down the basement steps. Bob and Dhee followed quickly behind while Pepito forced the rest of the kids to stay inside.

The hysterical, pregnant woman managed to pull Rene from the pool. Her body was limp and her face had a bluish tinge to it. Jeane let out a scream at the sight, trying to force the water from the tiny girl's lungs. Dhee pulled her away and held her to his chest tightly. As soon as she was out of the way, Bob took over with CPR.

Rene was watching the attempts to save her life with an oddly detached frame of mind. If she died, she died. She was pretty sure she'd go back to Heaven, and if she did, she'd certainly do a better job as a Seraphim this time.

Jeane's wails grew louder by the moment, and each moment that passed increased the probability that Rene would have brain damage, if she would live at all. Rene turned from the scene, mostly ignoring the wails.

"I didn't think I'd made you so cold." A voice, light and even, came seemingly out of nowhere. Rene spun around to see the speaker, though she knew who it was. A very normal looking man stood perhaps a foot from Jeane and Dhee. He slowly held out his hand. Cringing, Rene approached him, head down.

"My Lord." She murmured, staring at her toes.

"Rene." He admonished gently, pushing up her chin until she looked at Him. His eyes were kind, but he was pulling her back towards her body.

"My Lord, please forgive me!" She begged, tears in her eyes. She had to explain to Him, tell Him how ashamed she was for letting Him down.

"Rene." He murmured, pressing her down. His gentle eyes met hers. "Live. Be happy."

Her body jerked once and the last of the water was expelled from her lungs. Rene wheezed for a few moments, eyes closed. Bob rolled her onto her side and gently patted her back. After about five minutes he picked her up and carried her into the house. She buried her face in his shoulder.

"Live. Be happy."

July 30th

Finally out of bed. Jeane refused to let me move untill about a half hour ago.

When I woke up she was there, patting my head and sniffling. After she realized I was awake, she switched between yelling at me for being irresponsible and telling me how glad she was that I was okay. After that she ordered Bob and Dhee around, telling them to bring us food and drinks, to open a window, and stuff like that. Jeane's as big as a barn, and Dhee's been quite happy with himself.

After we ate, Jeane made me take a nap. I was ready; every muscle in my body hurt. When I woke up, Mignon was sitting with me. She had made me a card and said she forgived me for being a meanie. Joy.

I had a guard at all hours. Most of the time it was either Bob, Draco, or Conan. Under orders of Jeane, they were making sure I wasn't suicidal, or anything. Draco was the only one amused. He offered to shove me out the window if I realy wanted out.

I told him no, I was under orders to stay here. He laughed at me.

Live

Scene: The family pool.

Jeane was once again fully clothed and floating in the middle of the pool. Dhee had a train of babies following after him in rings. Conan was having a water fight with Draco, and Rene and Kagura were floating on rafts.

Enter: Rene, from the basement. She is wearing a tank top and biker shorts with her chains. Chaya giggles at her as she makes her way over to the pool.

Jeane: Came out to enjoy the sun?

Rene walks over to the ladder and drops her chains at the bottom. She climbs up and looks out at everyone.

Rene: I came out here to swim.

Rene takes a leap into the pool, submerging before being pulled back up by Dhee. She snorts water through her nose and laughs.

August 4rth

Well, I've learned how to swim and that my chains do come off.

I don't like them off, though. They're there for a reason, even if I can't figure it out. They're comfortable now. Besides, I've gotten quite good at whacking people off of their feet with the chains. Heh.

Sunday, August Seventh

Several days ago I met a boy named Lute. He seemed nice, but was angry about his past. Of course, he was a banished child. Nothing I could say made him feel better, and that made me feel bad in turn.

I, at least, know why I was banned. I know that it was my fault.
