Quest Entry 3 of 5 "Oopsie..."
* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *
It was after dinner and Ballentine was humming softly while she cleaned the dishes. Jason usually cooked during the week, and to make it fair Ballentine cleaned. Each dish was cleaned and rinsed off before dried and set aside to be put away later. Though time passed quickly and as soon as Ballentine put the last dish into the cabinet she heard a squeaky voice shriek for her.
"Mommy!" Belinda called from her doorway, screaming for the parental unit.
Ballentine rushed over to the child, thinking something was wrong of course. "Belinda, baby? What's the matter?" She asked as she scooped the child up into her arms, checking the small body for any signs of injury. "You didn't hurt yourself again did you?"
"No...." Fussing herself out of Ballentine's arms, Belinda was placed down onto her feet and backed away a few steps. "Want help with yarn thing." She demanded, pointing her finger to the box that was placed onto her bed after the groceries were put away. "Now."
Ballentine sighed, shaking her head a bit. "Can't it wait until tomorrow Belinda? It's already getting late..." Going into the room, she picked up the box to take a quick look at it. "We can start bright and early."
"No!" The toddler barked, climbing up onto her bed. Easily crawling over to Ballentine she grabbed her mother's wrists and gave gentle tugs. "Pleeeease Mommy. I wanna know now..." Those little green eyes were used to Belinda's advantage, batting them cutely to get her way. Ballentine couldn't resist.
"Alright, alright. Sit down and we'll see how to do this kiddo." The two shuffled their bodies around on the child's bed until they were comfortable. Ballentine sat with her legs spread out and Belinda between them. The girl was staring up at her mother with an excited face.
It took about an hour for Ballentine to go step by step and teach Belinda how to knit. Even for Ballentine it was a bit difficult as she never knit before. The first few rows of the scarf would be complete before the woman passed the items over to her child. "Well Belinda, it's your turn now. Just do as I showed you." Making sure Belinda was comfortable Ballentine waited to watch and coach the child. A few more minutes passed and Belinda seemed to have the hang of it.
Standing and stretching Ballentine smiled down at the girl. "Ok, work for a bit and I'll come back when its time for bed." Giving a few kisses to Belinda's forehead she turned and headed out, her only answer from the small child was a grunt of annoyance as she worked.
An hour passed, and in that time Belinda had tried to be a diligent worker. However it just wasn't meant to be. With a rather nasty scowl on her face Belinda worked hard on trying to get that next row. Her attempts were loose and falling apart, leaving her very enraged.
"Stupid yarn!" She screamed as she threw the items onto the bed. Nothing she did came out the way mommy had done it. Why didn't it work when she did it?! Still frustrated small hands grabbed up the yarn once more for a final attempt. "Just... Like... This...." But it ended up not like that, and a total flop. Belinda growled before the yarn was pulled so tight that it snapped from the rest.
Belinda gasped in surprise, not thinking that would happen. "No no.... Oh no!" Tears welled in her eyes as she tried to stick the yarn back together with no luck. She then simply tossed the items to the floor and rolled over to let out a screaming sob into her pillow, her little legs kicking at the bed in anger. Why couldn't it work out the way she wanted! Everything was going all wrong. Laying down still she continued to lightly sob into the pillow before she dozed off.
This was the scene Ballentine walked in to see. A small frown appeared on the mother's face as she lifted the discarded items from the floor. She didn't have to ask to know what had happened. Setting the items off to the side, she gently turned Belinda over and tucked her in to sleep. After she sat on the edge of the bed to redo what had been ruined, setting the items where Belinda could see them once she was finished. With a small kiss to Belinda's forehead she turned and left, perhaps a second chance would do the girl some good.

Quest Entry 4 of 5 "Pulling an All Nighter."
* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *
I woke with a runny nose and reached up to wipe it with my bed sheet. This only happened when I cry before sleeping and all too soon I remembered what happened last night. That stupid yarn wasn't working right when I tried to knit the scarf. Mommy worked the yarn so easily and I thought I could do it too. Stupid yarn must hate me.
Sitting up more I ran my small hand across my face, then rose both to rub the sleep away from my eyes. Maybe I can yell at the yarn to get it to work right. But first I have to knot it back together. "Where did it go..." I asked my self with a scan of my bed before glancing to the floor. Nope, not there either. Though as I turned my head around I caught a flash of red upon the nightstand and smiled just a bit. There it was!
Reaching out I once more took the yarn and knitting sticks into my hands, only to find to my amazement that the yarn was together again. How did that happen!? Maybe the yarn didn't hate me as much as I thought it did.
Giggling just a bit I reached over for the box, taking out the how to book once more. Mommy said I just had to follow the pictures and I could do just fine. I flipped through it once more to get to the page Mommy marked, the top corner bent so I could easily find it later. This is where we left off the night before. She's so smart like that.
This book was too hard for me to read. Mommy said she'd help me later with my other studies but this one, way to hard. Thankfully there were pictures were I could look at them and go step by step that way. The words might not have helped my situation anyway.
After the refresh on what to do I started to get the knack of it. Sure it took me a few minutes, I'm not that good! Slowly but surely I was making the scarf, I was really doing it!
I don't know how long I worked on it, I only know Mommy tried to come in and bother me like a bazillion times. Ugh she can be so annoying, just like brother Bricriu. I'm so happy it's finally working for me that I just don't want to stop! "This is fun now...." I giggled as I finished another line. I think I can work on this all night!

Quest Entry 5 of 5 "I Did It!"
* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *
"Mommy! Mommy!" Belinda started to yell as she hopped down off her bed. For a whole day the child had ignored the requests of her mother to eat or sleep, wanting to finish what she had re-started the day before. And what was that? Well the red scarf she got from the store.
After the small tempter tantrum she had, she was quick to recover and ever more so determined to finish the said scarf. It took all day and all night, but at 2am the small child was bounding out of her room like a bat out of hell. Her shouts for the parent had woken a few of the other children, each annoyed but quick to fall back asleep.
Belinda however was still wide awake. She carried the scarf in her small hands, the item held as if it were a delicate flower. Nothing would ruin it this time.
Soon enough the small child ended up at her mother's door, one small hand reaching up while she went on tip toes to get the door handle to turn. Ballentine was already in mid movement to get up and see what her child was yelling about and was a tad surprised that Belinda just let herself right on in.
"What is it Belinda? It's late and you'll wake everyone else up..." Ballie said as her daughter ran over, crawling up onto the bed with her.
"Look mommy. I finished!" Letting out a small giggly laugh, the scarf was presented to Ballentine with one of Belinda's largest smiles. She really was proud of it, even if the scarf in question had multiple loose spots and a stretched area here or there. It would still fit it's purpose.
Ballentine couldn't help but chuckle lightly. "Well honey, you did do it. I'm so prou-" Ballentine stopped and smiled just a bit as she looked down at her child. Belinda was fast asleep against her, a small whimper coming from the child every now and then.
Shaking her head, Ballentine gently laid the small girl down, the scarf left set beside her. "I'm proud of you..." She said lightly while kissing the Belinda's forehead. She sat there a moment to watch as the girl spelt before she herself laid back down to sleep.

After the scarf had been produced the small girl has slept for quite a long time. Her ears twitched slightly as she yawned and awoke around noon. Pushing herself out of the pillows Belinda dropped to the floor and stared at the ceiling. Her body ached. Was it because of the exhausting creation of the scarf ?
She growled and opened her eyes slowly to look at herself to find the cause for the hurt. Belinda had grown into a child !

Journal Entry "Something New..."
* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *
Belinda growled as she pinned her brother Bricriu down to the ground, snatching back what was hers to begin with. A doll had been stolen from her room and ever since her growth spurt she no longer ran to Mommy when she had a problem. Oh no, she could easily beat up her brothers now, save for Hugo who was still bigger than her. Usually their fighting was just for play, a bit of wrestling here and there, but today it was nothing but brute force Belinda used to get her brother into submission.
Over the past few days Ballentine had noticed the behavior Belinda was displaying and was growing a bit more worried. Small swats and nips were turning into punches and bites. Time outs weren't working anymore either and this mother was beginning to run out of ideas to try on her daughter.
But neither of them realized a small solution to the problem. Bricriu's constant taunts and stealing of Belinda's things had to come to a stop. Belinda being less violent when her personal items weren't being handled by someone else. At this rate Bricriu was going to be beaten to a pulp!
But with her doll now back in her hands, she proudly carried it back to her room to put it back in it's place on her bed. "It's ok now. I saved you..." She whispered to the doll before placing a small kiss to it's forehead, much like her mother did to her at bed time. This doll was her favorite too, it being the first one she got.
She gave out a faint sigh as she laid down on the bed, petting the doll's hair. "Maybe now he won't steal you.... I got him good this time." She said with a small giggle. She took a small glance around her room and sighed, a frown appearing on her lips. Everything was childish, toys and all. The only thing she liked anymore was the doll, and of course wrestling her brothers to the ground. She was getting bored and really needing some new form of entertainment...

Journal Entry "Home Changes"
* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *
Spring had finally arrived. It melted away all the white snow and brought with it the warm weather. Trees were beginning to fill, flowers starting to bloom, and the birds once more singing in the sunshine. But what else did Spring mean? Well a major spring cleaning of the DeMarselle household of course, and along with the cleaning came major changes.
With the addition of Colby, Kito and Shakina, the house was beyond crowded. So Ballentine took the necessary steps to take everything into her own hands. Or at least hired professionals' hands. Contractors were hired to completely renovate the upstairs which meant all the children had to camp out in the living room. It was like a slumber party every night for them, but in the week that passed each one learned to shut up and get to sleep after the 5th scream form Ballentine.
But soon enough construction was completed and the upstairs changed to allow larger rooms for the growing kids. Each one was permitted to choose the room of their liking. Though Jay found himself completely shut out of the house with the addition of his very own in the backyard. Yes Ballentine had even go so far as having a small house built for him on the property. His own little bachelor pad. He had been completely surprised when she first told him, and his gratitude never changed when it was completed.
It only took a day for the kids to get Jason moved and get themselves settled into their new rooms.

Roleplay on AIM "Meeting Dae"
* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * karma_k It had been a long day, but it was, at last, coming to a close as Karma seated herself on a bench, a sleeping Dae in the crook of her arm. He'd been sleeping all day, actually, which was just as well as the sights and sounds of the festival surrounding them likely would have terrified him.
The foxcoon hadn't been able to find him a babysitter, try as she might, and had been forced to bring him along with her as she made it a point never to miss the renaissance festival, kids or no kids. Oh well, at least it was giving her arms some much-needed exercise.
He'd be getting up soon, though...it would probably be best to be in the car and headed home by then as it was much easier to handle a spazzy toddler in his carseat than it was to handle him in an open strange place with millions of places to hide. She would just take a quick rest, she promised herself. The parking lot was a long walk from here.
Ballentine was a first timer there, and since Belinda had been acting favorablly decided that a small treat was in store for the girl. Ballentine had wanted to dress Belinda in a Renaissance gown, but learned that would be quite difficult with an unyeilding child. Pants and shirt it was.
So the two walked through the fair, Belinda demanding to play every game at least once. Ok , so maybe it was a bad idea... And a very expensive one. Not only did Belinda usually lose the games, she'd stomp and kick and have a tanturm until the booth worker either called for security or gave her a booby prize to shut up.
The need to feed was what took the duo in Karma's direction. Ballentine held all the prizes while Belinda gnawed contently on a carmal apple.
A large bulky man would step in Belinda's way, causing the small girl to fall back onto her a** and lose said apple. instantly she lashed out. "YOU IDIOT!" She shouted, gripping his leg and attempting to bite him. Thankfully Ballentine grabbed the girl in time and apologized to the man and stopped any problems.
Taking Belinda to the bench Karma sat upon she let the girl stand on it while getting eye level with her. "Now you listen to me missy. You either behave or we're going home and you won't see the fire works. I had enough of you and your tempter."
Belinda's response was a narrowing of her tear full eyes and a scrunch of her face. "Humph." And her nose upturned while arms crossed her chest.
Karma's attention was immediately attracted by their company as she turned to look at Ballentine and Belinda quizzically. She'd never seen either of them before, but as long as they were sitting less than a foot away, it would probably be rude of her not to at least greet them.
"Hi." she said, smiling tiredly and a bit awkwardly. It sounded like the little one had a temper on her and she didn't want to agitate it. Against her shoulder, Dae's wings gave a small flutter as he stirred at the sudden influx of noise, but he didn't quite awaken.
A green felt robin hood hat sat crookedly on his head where his mother had placed it nearly two hours ago. Considering he had slept through the entire thing, Karma had reasoned that the boy might like at least ONE momento of the occasion to prove that he'd gone, if nothing else...
Both Ballentine and Belinda turned to look at Karma. Ballentine in a bit of shock as someone actually said something to them, Belinda more curious who the person was. And what a tick, what was that? Instnatly her eyes focused on the wings, a small smile spreading on her lips. Before Ballentine could react, Belinda launched herself at Karma's arm to take a peek at what or more importantly who she held. "Ooooh! Look Mommy! Someone like me!" She explained, having a good sense of smell and able to detect the boy was in fact an Eden.
Ballentine just forced a smile, "Sorry about that... She's a bit of a handful."
Karma smiled back, bracing herself and wincing a bit as Belinda's weight collided with her arm. "That's all right. By now, I'm used to it." she assured Ballentine before lowering Dae a bit so the little girl could have a look at him. Was Belinda an Eden too, she wondered? Had that been what she'd meant by "someone like me"? Or was she simply referring to the fact he was also a small child?
Dae's head lulled back a bit, his eyes still closed and his feathery antennae twitching lazily on an early-evening breeze. "Sorry he's zonked right now..." the foxcoon apologized to Belinda. "He usually sleeps all day, but he's due to wake up any time now..."
And, oh, what fun that would be, she thought warily. If only society didn't frown on leashes for unruly kids...
At the mention of the boy being due to wake, Belinda leaned back just enough and began to take in a deep breath. Thankfully a hand slapped over her mouth befor ethe girl could scream whatever it was she was going to say. She struggled while being tugged into Ballentine's lap, the woman holding her down with ease.
"My name is Ballentine, this is my daughter Belinda. She happens to be an Eden, I take it your little bundle is as well?" She asked, wincing as sharp teeth nipped her hand. She tugged it away and glared at the pouting girl in her lap "Like I said she's a handful. More so since she can reach higher since her growth spurt."
Karma's eyes lit up at confirmation that Belinda was, indeed, an Eden. "Yes, he is!" She smiled, before clearing her throat, calming herself. "I'm Karma, and this is Saturnidae....we all call him Dae, though."
Dae flinched a bit at the sound of his name and one silver eye cracked open a bit only to squint shut again as sunlight smacked into it. He moaned and rubbed at it groggily....he didn't like the sun. Not even at sunset.
"You're probably seeing him at his best right now..." she warned. "Once he wakes up and gets going, he's jittery as all get out. I've been trying to socialize him, but its harder than you'd think to find kids for him to play with that aren't my own."
"Oh I know the feeling! Belinda hasn't been around much other edens either. I took her to the HQ once but we didn't get a chance to stay long. She played with one boy though who's name slips my mind." Laughing a bit she glancd down at Belinda who had calmed down enough to be released. "I try to get her out but time is a problem."
Belinda on the other hand once more returned to Karma's arm, though this time was much more gentle at the approach. She bat her eyes curiosuly at Dae, reaching over to flick an antenna. "ooooh. Fuzzy."
"Yeah..." Karma agreed, watching the two children carefully. "It would help if they had a directory or something...or maybe a calling tree so we could all arrange our own get-togethers or somesuch..." That wouldn't be a bad idea...but then again, some people had severe issues with getting calls from strangers.
Well, that did it. Dae's eyes both snapped open at the antennae flick and focused on Belinda instantly. He didn't know this person.
He...didn't....KNOW this person...!!
For a moment, time seemed to stand still before the moth eden gave a squealing yelp and dove to bury his face in Karma's shoulder, his wings trembling on his back like a pair of large brown leaves.
"Oh, Dae....Dae, honey, don't be afraid..." she tried to soothe him, while prying him off of her neck. "She was just saying hello."
Belinda's face once more turned into a frown, her eyebrows creasing. What was wrong with the kid!? She just wanted to play. "Hey..... HEY!" A finger jabbed lightly at Dae's shoulder, "Come play with me." She demanded, gripping the shirt sleeve togive it a directing tug. Ok so she wasn't gentle, but she didn't try to rip him out of Karma's arms either.
Ballentine sighed, taking Belinda's hand into her own to stop the girl from any more damage. "Belinda no, don't frighten him. you might be to big to play with him kiddo."
Dae gave another squeal and tightened his grip on Karma's neck like a panicky drowner as the foxcoon coughed once and then made a greater effort at prying his hands away. "Okay....okay...." she gagged. "Look, if you choke me, I can't take you home, okay?"
Dae whimpered, though this seemed to make some amount of sense to him as he grudgingly loosened his hold until Karma was holding him slightly away from her, not relishing getting caught in another toddler deathgrip. The moth eden looked warily around him, spotting Belinda after a minute and beginning to tremble all over again.
"Izzit an alien...??" he whispered.
"No...Dae, she's an Eden, just like you." Karma assured him, tightening her grip on him a bit in case he decided to spazz again. "You came from the same tree, isn't that special?"
He was silent a moment, looking back to Belinda. ".....sister?" he tried, now looking incredibly confused.
"No..." Karma laughed. "No, not your sister. Can you say hi without freaking out, do you think?"
"Hi." he said, reaching for her again.
"No. To them." she clarified, motioning to Ballentine and Belinda. He turned to look at them again, his eyes seeming to take up most of his face, such were their hugeness, and was silent, save for the dry rattle of his ever-trembling wings.
Belinda's ears twitched. Alien!? She was the alien!? She let out a small snort as she took the boy in once more, he was the alien with his antenna and big eyes. Silently something was muttered under her breath as she shifted to sit on her bottom instead of squatting.
She took a moment to ignore him while picking something out from between her toes. Mmm, mud. It was casually tossed aside while her foot was brought up to her face for closer inspection. She kept her ears turned just enough to catch the converstaion incase she was addressed once more, and she was.
The child looked up at him, fixing her eyes on him before wiggling her toes at Dae. "You're a big baby! No fun at all." That said, she turned her face away.
Ballentine frowned. "Belinda apologize. He his a toddler of course he'll be afraid of you... You're intimidating to some people." She said, ruffling the girls hair.
Belinda snorted. "I unno what you mean but he's a big baby. I bet he won't even play tag!"
"Dae? Do you want to play tag?" Karma goaded, not having very high hopes but still giving it the old college try that maybe he would lighten up a bit in the presense of a fellow eden.
"No...!" he whimpered, trying to lunge back for her shoulder and failing.
"Please?"
"Don't wanna!!" he cried, his robin hood hat suddenly flopping down over his eyes and making him fall silent for a moment. He couldn't see!! Karma dodged as his arms began to flail, accidentally slapping against her face before she set him down watching him run in circles blindly before colliding with Ballentine's leg and toppling over backwards on his butt, the hat falling off of his head at his side as he blinked owlishly up at the strange adult.
"See. Baby." Came Belinda's call after the boy fell onto his butt. Belinda shifted to lay on the seat, her feet in the air and head hanging off the edge upside down and eyes fixed on the boy. "Biiiiig baby." Lifting her head a bit, she smiled at Ballentine. "Can we go now Mommy? He's not fun at all."
Ballentine frowned, shaking her head at Belinda then looking down at Dae. She smiled softly and offered her hand down to Dae. "It's alright. Let me help you up..."
He cringed away for a moment, staring at the hand as though it was a giant moth-eating dragon. A second ticked past....two....and the hand was still there. Why wasn't it grabbing at him? Why wasn't it dragging him off to its underground lair to do all sorts of awful experiments to him? No, it was just sitting there....being a hand, basically.
After what seemed a very long time, he tentatively extended his own hand, which seemed very small by comparison, and placed it in Ballentine's palm. As he did so, he looked to Belinda in puzzlement. He was a baby, yes...his mom always called him her baby and Kendall called him his baby brother. But, he wasn't big. SHE was big. She was...GINORMOUS!
"Big." he said solemnly, pointing to Belinda. She had it backwards, that was all.
"Yes. Belinda is big. But she was small like you." Ballentine said as she gently and of course carefully lifted the boy up off the ground, sitting him on the bench. This unfortunatly put him between Ballentine and Belinda, so far out of mommy's reach! "You'll get big one day too, then you won't have to be so afraid." She said as she reached to ruffle his hair but was quick to pull it back not wanting to freak him out or upset Karma in any way.
Belinda followed the boy with her eyes, "I'm not big. Mommy is big, you'rejust small. A big small baby!" Hmphing once more, Belinda sat up only to slip off the bench completely. One of her booby prizes was a ball, and said item was taken into her hands. She walked a few steps away and started to bounce it, the ball flashing lights each time it hit the ground.
Well, NOW she had Dae's attention as his head tracked the ball with each bounce, barely hearing the words that were said by either female. To say he liked lights was an understatement...and horribly ironic considering how he avoided sunlight like the plague. He was transfixed...watching the little flashing lights twinkle with the single-minded intensity of the truly obsessed.
Karma, though she looked relaxed, was tensed and ready to lunge for him if he showed any signs of trying to flee. Having him run away in the house was one thing...she knew where to look for him. She'd never find him amid all the booths and trees in this place.
Belinda paid no mind to either the adults or Dae, humming lightly while she continued to bounce the ball. Up and down, up and down. The lights flashed and twinkled even as Belinda caught the ball between her hands. She took a small glance around and then threw it up, high up into the air. She gave a small laugh as she waited in the right spot and caught it in her arms, the ball setting off another 3 seconds of flashing before going still until the next bounce.
Ballentine in the mean time glanced over at Karma and smiled. "So how long have you had your Eden? He sure seems to have a personality of his own... Quite the opposite of Belinda as you can tell." She chuckled lightly.
"Oh its been a few months..." Karma said, looking to Ballentine and satisfied for the moment that Dae was more or less calm. "He had uncanny timing...my husband had just said no more kids, and then he shows up." she chuckled and then knit her brow in concern. "I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should take him to a child psychologist or something....see if there's a reason he's so jittery and a way to calm him down..."
As the two women spoke, Dae silently slid off of the bench and wobbled on his feet a moment as he watched the ball twinkle and sparkle. He was drawn to it like...well...a moth to a flame. His wings were too weak, as of yet, to support his weight, but they beat against his back in a rapid buzzing vibration all the same as, inch by inch, he drew nearer to Belinda and her ball.
"Well he doesn't seem to be so jittery right know." Ballentine stated while pointing at Dae, who was now walking towards Belinda. "Those wings of his are adorable. I'm not too partial to pink, but the color seems to suit him well." She said with a small smile. "Belinda on the other hand won't wear anything unless it's red. Though I'm one to talk, I wear a lot of blue." Laughing again, she turned her attention over to the children.
Belinda had noticed Dae's approach when she heard the wings buzzing. Cold eyes turned to look at him, the ball cradled other chest. "Whacha want you little baby." She snapped, hitting the ball with her hand with enough fource to make it twinkle once more. "You want my ball doncha? Well you can't have it!" She stuck her tongue out at him.
"I think lights are one of the only things he likes without reservation." Karma said, though she was a little surprised to see that he was actually approaching Belinda. "We had to bribe him with a Gameboy Advance to get him used to his new room once we'd finished it...he was so busy staring at the little glowy screen he forgot to be afraid." She cocked her head slightly. "I hope Dae didn't make your little girl angry..."
Dae seemed uninterested in her insults, his eyes locked on the ball. Wings still buzzing and flapping he began to walk in toddling eager circles around Belinda, in a poor imitation of a moth circling a lamp. He wanted to see the little flashy ball from every angle.
"Naw. She may look angry but in my opinion I think it's all just a game to her. She snapps and gets snotty but no matter what I do it doesn't seem to stop her. It's probably bad to let that kind of behavior go but I really have no way of stopping it unless I resort to violence and I'm not one to hit my kids if you know what I mean. She's young I'm sure she'll grow out of it. As long as something is there to keep her occupid she's good." Shruggling a bit, Ballentine slouched a little mroe to relax, one of the small stuffed animals that Belinda got now being used as a minor pillow. "I have to admit she ran me for the line today.. I'm exhausted. I could sleep here I'm so tired." She chuckled. "Fire works and then home."
Green eyes followed Dae, narrowed slightly. What was he up to? Sizing her up. Tch, she could so take him. She waited until Dae was in front of her once more before she made her move. The ball was quickly moved right in front of his eyes and smacked, lights twinkling right up close! Though should Dae make any movement to grasp it, Belinda would move it up high and out of his reach.
"There's going to be fireworks?" Karma groaned. "I wonder if I should take him home before that...I'm not sure if he'd be enchanted by the big sky sparklies or if he'd bolt screaming at the noise." It could be either-or when it came to Dae...though it would most likely be the latter.
The twinkles reflected in Dae's eyes as his mouth dropped open in wonderment. Oohh sparklies...BIG sparklies....quivering all over now, he began to circle again, quicker, more excited than before and pausing every time he reached the ball to stare at it some more. To passersby he probably looked ridiculous.
"Yes.. they start in about an hour if I'm guessing the time right. And I can understand your concern after seeing him when he woke. Perhaps if you stay you can cover his hears. When I was a little girl my mother used to do that for me. Doesn't block out all the sound but may work." Shrugging a bit again she took her eyes from the kids to glance aroudn at the passing crowd.
Each time the boy reached for the ball it was lfited away. Belinda laughing and continuosly hitting the ball to keep the flashing active. She even began to move her steps, making the boy follow her now. She lead him back towards their parents and started aronud the bench. Ok maybe she was wrong, but this was quite fun!
"Maybe..." Karma relented, watching the new game Belinda seemed to have invented at Dae's expense. He wasn't protesting, though, so there was no reason to get involved. "He's going to be really difficult when his wings get big enough to actually lift him....in fact, I'm dreading that day." she smirked. "Kind of like how most mothers dread their kid getting behind the wheel of a car for the first time."
Dae followed obediantly around the bench as though Belinda was the pied piper and he was a rat, eyes glued to the ball. Just as long as it kept twinkling, that's all he cared about. As it grew darker around them, the ball became even brighter and more interesting. If she wanted to, Belinda could probably have kept his interest this way all night long.
"Ugh.. " A small groan, "My kids already stole the car. Bricriu, one of my other little ones, thought it would be funny to drive the car. Took a drive down the drive way and smashed into a tree.... he's quite mischevious that one. He and his brothers are still doing time for that stunt. THough I'm sure they are goofing around since I'm not there and Jason doesn't keep disciplin well. Jason is my oldest. I think I have..." A hand was lifted as she started to count. "Oh gosh.... I ran out of fingers." She laughed. "I kicked Jason out and into his own house on the property so that took three out of the house, leaving around 8 off the top of my head in it. Not including myself. All in all I have a very full house."
Though as much fun as it was, all games got boring after awhile. The boy wasn't even making much of an effort to get the ball! Snorting and now agitated, she stopped walking and promptly shoved the ball at him. "HERE! Take it." Turning on the ball of her feet she went to her mother and put her head down in Ballentine's lap. "Moooommy.... I'm bored." Her tail swished behind her slightly.
Ballentine looked from Karma and down to her daughter and smiled. "Well the fireworks will be starting soon. We can go head over to the field and get a good spot in a little while ok?"
Belinda pouted but gave a faint nod then cast a glance at Karma.
Karma looked back to Belinda and then sat up a little straighter "If you guys want to go ahead, that's fine....before the good seats fill up, I mean. I'm thinking I might take Dae home after all before I'm too tired to drive."
Saying so, she looked around for her eden son, seeing him nowhere. "Dae...?"
Dae however, was under the bench having the time of his life, it seemed, with the little sparkly ball. Like a kitten with a ball of twine, he was rolling, batting, and otherwise making a mess of himself in the dirt as he batted the thing around.
"Dae..." Karma groaned, unable to see him well in the dimming light but able to see him well enough to know that he had gotten himself filthy. "I hope you're having a good time down there, because now you're going to need a bath when we get home..." When he gave no reaction to this, she reached beneath the bench and dragged him out, gathering him back into her lap.
Belinda all but bounced up at the other woman's offer. Yes! They could go now! Green eyes were full of excitement as they looked at the mother once more, Belinda bounching on the balls of her feet.
Ballentine gave a faint nod. "Mmm. Seens mine is more eager to go than anything. It was good meeting you and perhaps our kids can play again... or attempt to." Standing up, all the prizes were once more gathered into her arms as she looked at Belinda. "let's go kiddo."
Belinda smiled brightly and looked at Karma. "Bye bye! And keep the ball shortie!" With that said, Belinda turned and began to run off into the crowd, must to Ballentine's displeasure.
"Thank you!" Karma called after Belinda as she waved to Ballentine "Hope to see you two again!" Saying so, she looked to Dae. "Can you say thank you...?" she asked, watching him shaking the ball in front of himself. "Dae?"
He shook himself out of his trance to look up at her briefly and then, at the happiest she'd ever seen him, proclaimed "BALL!!!" and shoved it in her face like some sort of majestic treasure. Smiling a bit and sighing deeply, she got up from the bench, carrying him with her as she plodded against the flow of the people heading for the fireworks show toward the parking lot..
"And once we're done getting you over your social anxiety, kiddo, we're going to work on your manners."

Play Date "Mad Monkey-Bar Skills (Belinda and Ilori)" http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=2924655
* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * Arafel Arafel was positioned under the monkey bars, arms extended underneith the hanging toddler. This was dangerous... Putting a toddler that couldn't even walk-er, slither yet on such a high thing... However, that was the problem. Ilori was having too much trouble slithering... and her above-average strength for climbing seemed to boost her young ego.
And it was. Ilroi had her tail-half wrapped tightly around one bar... smiling slightly as she seemed to defy gravity and lift her upper body up and to the next bar. Her hands grasped it, loosening her grip on the previous bar until she was hugging the new one. Her snake -half would then drop that bar, dangle a moment, then curl up around the next bar. The toddler completely unaware of the dangers that could hapen if she were to slip. But thats what Arafel was for. Ballentine The day was nice, and as a reward to her children Balletine took them all to the local park. Each one went off to do their own thing and thankfully was still under the watchful eye of the adult. Though while Mommy's attention was distracted on the brothers, Belinda was quick to sneek off to the jungle gym.
The tire swing was turning out to be her favorite, and easily she pushed and shoved the others around the swing away to claim it for herself. She was easily becoming known as the playground bully and most backed off.
Quickly feet ran around the tire while hands gripped the chains. At the top speed that she could go she'd hoist herself over for a whirl about! Dizzy is what it made her, small giggles escaping her lips as she slowly came to a stop, though her eyes caught something yellow on the close monkey bars.
"OOoooh!"
She lept from the tire, wobbling a little as she walked due to the previous engagement. Giggling she climbed the ladder up to the platform near the monkey bars, cocking her head to the side as she looked at Arafel.
"What's she dooin'?" She asked, her tail twitching behind her in a curious mannor. "My mommy doesn't like me on dos.. I fall. See." Her knee was offered to Arafel's point of view with a bandaid across it. "I missed da bar once too and fell on my bottom." Arafel Arafel's eye caught the sight of something moving through the other children, she didn't get a glance at the actions however. As soon as she looked away Ilori had made a tiny noise, causing Arafel to jump and jolt her attention back. She felt like she was driving a car for the first time again. Looking away, then getting jolted back to staring where she was supposed to.
Ilori Looked back, pointing with one hand at the inquisitive eden child that had seemingly poped out of nowhere. "Guul." She stated, giving a squeak as she lost her balance and 'fell.' Arafel choked, arms out to catch her... but instead the child simply dangled from the bar with a tight hold frmo her tail, giving a tiny giggle. "Fuhn Fuhn!"
Arafel let out a breath she'd been holding, she reached up to Ilori to pluch the child from the monkey bars so she could turn her attention to the new comer. She smiled to the girl, cradling Ilori "Mm. I don't like her on them either... but she doesn't seem to fall like I do." She offered the bandaid a look of sympathy, leaning down to place Ilori on the safer sand below the bars. "Me too." Arafel smiled a bit, tugging back her sleeve to show her own bandaid across her elbow. The woman was a bit too childish at times... Climing a tree and falling out of it or something like that.
Ilori wobbled on the sand, trying to coil her lower half so she could gain blanace again, giving a tiny frown to the ground as though it had betrayed her. Ballentine Belinda sat there a moment on her hunches as she watched Ilori. It was as if she noticed for the first time that the girl didn't have any legs but a body of a snake! Once more her attention bounced between the child and the parent, her eyes falling onto Arafel. "She looks funny. How come she ain't got no feets?" Sure it might have been rude the way she asked, but as a child... She really didn't care.
"My mommy has lots of weirdos too. My brother is blue!" She explaimed, then let out a little giggle. "He likes to call me big mouth 'cause I gots a big mouth, see." And she showed Arafel she could indeed open her mouth rather wide. "Mommy says not to listen to him," she continued afer a moment. "She says I'm her little child of Eden. Is she one too for you?"
Standing and stretching out her small body, she turned her eyes back down to the snake girl. "I met a few of da others. A boy with a funny tail. He didn't talk much... Eva-something...." She mused aloud while tapping her finger upon her chin. " 'N I just met Dai-something! He was to scared to play with me, so boring! Hey!" She flashed Arafel a big smile. "Can I play with her?" She asked, bouncing a bit happily on the balls of her feet. [ s t i l l i n p l a y ]

Journal Entry "Lady Like"
* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * "I'm bored!" I screamed at the sky. Mommy had told me to go outside and play while she was making lunch. I guess I was in the way or somfin.... But there was no one to play with! Waya said something about wanting to be left alone to practice something, Hugo took Bricriu and Edward on a camping trip, Jason was gone with Colby, Tasa only wanted to play with dolls, Taima only ignored me and the twins were too young to play with! "No fun!" I huffed, puffing my cheeks out in a pout.
At least the sun was warm today. I sat on the fluffy green grass and laid back to stare up at the sky and watch the lazy clouds float on by. Some of them looked like things and I tried to guess them... Though this wasn't much fun at all. Kicking my feet up into the air, I caught sight on how dirty my feet really were. I spread my toes as far as they would go to inspect them a little more and only frowned. Mommy told me I should start wearing shoes and be more lady like... I don't want to be lady like I want to be me!
Turning over onto my side, I curled my body up close. My eyes found a tall blade of grass that a grasshopper was sitting on. Would Mr. hopper like me more if I was lady like? No... He'd hop away anyway. Sighing lightly I closed my eyes to think. If I were more lady like then maybe I'd have more friends. I could try it... But what would make me more lady like?
"A-ha!" I exclaimed as I suddenly sat up, the grasshopper fleeing. Bolting up to my feet I quickly ran across the yard back to the house. An idea had come to me! But... If Mommy sees where I'm about to go she'd get mad! Quietly I crept down the hall to her bedroom door, listening to the sounds of the house. She was still in the kitchen! Perfect! Cautiously I pushed open her bedroom door and slipped inside, shutting it behind me with a soft click. I made my way over to Mommy's pretty table. She called it a sanity table I think. But she sits at it every morning when she puts on...
"Make up!" I giggled as he pulled himself up on the chair, looking at Mommy's make up scattered on the table top. I lifted the first lip stick tube I could fine, popping off the top and seeing the color I chose was dark red. It was so pretty! I wasted no time in smearing the color around my lips like Mommy does. Next was the pretty deep green eye shadow, using my fingers to spread it over my eyes. I took a moment to look at myself. I didn't look like Mommy always did but I thought I was pretty! Now to see what Mommy though!
Hopping down from the chair I ran as fast as I could to the door. Throwing it open I skittered across the dinning room and went sliding into the kitchen with a happy squeal. "Mommy! Lookie! I'm like a lady now!"
Mommy turned to look at me, a bit surprised first but she smiled at me and started to laugh. I laughed too! Mommy picked me up into her arms and started to wipe the make up away with her shirt sleeve. "Oh Belinda... You look like a clown with all that make up on!" Oh no! Mommy didn't like me like this!? I frowned as she continued to speak to me. "Why don't you go clean off your face and after lunch I'll show you how to put make up on right ok?"
I was set down onto my feet again, my bottom getting a little push in the direction of the bathroom. I just cast a sad look over my shoulder as I started out, but Mommy's smile made me smile. I hurried on to the bathroom to wash up real good. If mommy said she'll help me then I know she'll do a good job! I love my mommy!

Journal Entry "Sudden Changes!?"
* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * A few days after the trip to the park where Belinda met Ilori, I noticed the change in her behavior. Almost over night she went from her usual high strung bratty self to someone completely different. She was quieter and calm, something she rarely was. I wasn't sure what to think! Had she mellowed down? If so for what reasons and why... It surely was too fast of a change!
Several times I approached her, offering to take her to her favorite places or give her the foods she loved. Each time I was answered with a mild 'No thank you Mommy.' Or an 'I don't want it.' Needless to say but that answer was starting to get me nervous. I mean, she was completely different from the girl I raised.
Soon it was going to be her one year birthday, it having been an entire year that I have had her and raised her from that little leaf that she was. She already grew so much and it was still surprising to me even to this day... She totally surprised my expectations, but this mood change was just, mind boggling!
Perhaps I need to contact other owners, see if anyone else is having this problem. Otherwise I don't think Belinda's birthday party is going to go as well as I had hopped...
