We really stink this year cause we have a new director that can't pick music. The most awsomest people are in Jazz band, cept one that never shows up anyways.

Oscar Peterson! I did that for my "Greatest Canadian" project, but no one listened 'cause I was RIGHT BEFORE lunch...I even told the teachers my presentation was looong... Anyway! Uhhm...Trumpet 1 for me biggrin My friend plays Jazz KEYBOARD...piano...potato potato? XD We're not allowed to have wind instruments or concert-brass (horn) so I'm really surprised you guys are allowed to! Our teacher wanted an official Jazz band lol.

LT. Riza-Hawkeye Syrinx330 -waves hand- I was a member of jazz band...for one song in our Christmas concert, but a member...kinda sorta none the less. I'm a flutist, so I have a right to be excited cause there aren't many jazz band songs for flute out there, except there is a smaller school that I used to go to, and saw people at when I went to area all-state that it turns out there is a permanent flute player in the jazz band there. Ugh. Hopefully next year I can come back to this thread and say that I'm an official member, possibly as a saxophonist -crosses fingers- you guys sould play "moondance" the original song has a flute playing melody the whol way through. it's a fun song too. ^_^ *we play it, but our teacher decided to get the only arangement without the flute part. i really wanted to play flute for that too. crying * our jazz band has alot of really cool music like "Sing sing sing" "Pick up the Pices" (one of the best songs ever) "Jump Jive 'N Wail!" (the other best song ever) and "In the Mood" We play Pick up the peices awesom song ^^ also we play the chicken and AFTERSHOCK which i have to say as a trumpet player is an AMAZING song. but as a flute player THE CHICKEN is awesome it's so hard to choose! sweatdrop

My jazz band played the chicken last year when we went and did a tour in Europe. At the Montreux Jazz Festival some guy was dancing and singing along to The Chicken. I remember watching him as we played. xp

I am one of the three tenor saxophones in our jazz band and we totally ROCK! One of our songs we're playing at our next concert is the theme from Ghostbusters, arranged by my HUGE band nerd trumpeter best friend =]

LOL. We choreograph certain songs. We had an awesome ending to Sing, Sing, Sing. We also played a version of Hey Jude my conductor wrote, which was awesome. Not only was it a hit in the US, but when we went on tour everyone in Europe loved it too. We had them sing along at the end. It was great. xd

I play trumpet! I'm third part. Stupid drummer says that I'm bad because I play third. Smart drummer kicks him. Smart drummer says that he never ever plays because he sucks at trap and can't even play 4/4 swing properly.
Third part is important, and if I were missing, There would be no third part in the trumpets. I'm an important member of the chord. 3nodding
Did you know, on most songs we play, I have a higher part than second, and sometimes higher than first. whee I'm good at third! I'm proud of myself! (I would play second or first just as well, too. That's the idea flexibility of trumpet players!)

I'm in our "B" Jazz ensemble, the one specifically designed for freshmen, sophomores, and upperclassmen who want to play a second instrument in Jazz or that just recently joined. I play flute. 3nodding
In "B", we have a flute, a violin, four trumpets (one had to drop due to time conflicts), six trombones, three drummers, a pianist, three altos, two tenors, a bari, and a bass. Our festival pieces include "Softly, as in a Morning Sunrise", "A Bremis Among Us", "April in Reggae", "Mosaic", "Miss Fine", "After You've Gone", "Blues for McCoy", and "You Stepped Out of a Dream". Ah, so many. But I enjoy Jazz. Our director's crazy. ^_^
