Family indeed; the sort of family that would be a nightmare to have to feed at family reunions! Or house, for that matter. "Well, if that's the size of our family NOW, we're going to have to work on finding a decently sized place to host get-togethers and whatnot; I think that this cave is fine for two, but not for two-dozen. Unless we added an expansion, but home desgin has never been my strong suit."
Completely straight-faced, Safi looked around the cave at the weathered walls, then out towards the entrance at the snow outside. Still much too cold, that's what it was. "Of course, that would be assuming we kept this cave as a residence, which I don't plan on doing. This has been fun, but if we stayed in here too long, people might talk!"
Granted, talking of all sorts had been done already and Safi for one was enjoying it immensely. Kimi amused him, and not in the childish fashion foals did. Though that got him thinking...
Grinning, he deliberately patted the mare on the head with one wing in the way that adults tended to pat foals. "But this has been a good chat, eh Kiddo?"

"Indeed, a lot of fun," said Kimi, settling herself up and stretching out her body. "We should talk again sometime, it was nice. Shouldn't be too hard to find me. I'm the blue mare with flaming hooves. You are a flying stallion, we're bound to see each other again sometime or another." Kimi smiled slightly as she looked at Safi. She had lost track of time of how long she had been inside the cave for, but it seemed like a long enough of a time.

"Yes indeed, you might say we're pretty distinctive." Nodding in agreement to Kimi's statement, Safi bounced lightly to his feet with the energy of a foal. This had been fun, alright; he really ought to make more of an effort to find random individuals to chit-chat with.
But from her tone, he'd guessed that she was about ready to get going, and he really ought to be moving on himself, cold or no cold. He wouldn't freeze to death in such a short time...hopefully.
Trotting to the cave mouth, he peered out through the lightly falling snow to see that the wind had died down a bit and the sun was starting to appear through the clouds. "Well, looks like you'll be safe if you try to make a break for home now, Kimi; and even I ought to be able to manage out there! Good conversation warms the soul, good company the body, and all that good stuff."

"So true," said Kimi, trying to restrain herself from laughing some more. Never before had she laughed so much in one conversation. When talking with a stallion like Safi, its hard not to laugh! He brightened up her day, made her feel warm and prepare her to go outside. Now it was time to go out and face the real world, which Safi had prepared her for. Amongst all their laughter, Safi gave Kimi some great words of advice on how to handle the real world, especially to think about the present, not about the past.
"Well, off to the real world we go," said Kimi with a smile as she slowly began to walk out of the cave. She didn't want to leave the cave, she wanted to stay and talk with Safi, but she knew that she had to go out eventually, she couldn't stay inside the cave forever.

"Indeed; but at least now we're both ready to go, eh?" Smiling, Safi leaned against the wall of the cave, crossing one foreleg over the other as he looked out over the snowy landscape. Damn but the snow could alter a landscape...hopefully he'd be able to figure out where he was going!
Of course, that was why he had wings. He'd find his way soon enough in the air.
Tossing back his mane, he trotted out past the cave mouth and Kimi, spreading his wings and flapping them experiementally to get the stiffness out of them before pivoting back to grin one last time at Kimi. "Until the next family gathering, stay sane, Kimi!"
Then with a laugh, he was winging his way skyward, feathers dazzling in the glittering sunlight as he flew northwards.

"Good bye Safi!" she shouted as he took off. Kimi then watched as Safi flew away, still inside the cave, just peeking her head out to watch. As he flew off too far, she emerged from the cave and began walking onwards, towards her parent's home.
