Isabelle I don't really like invite only much. We were all newbies once and if people are actually interested in joining the guild and being active in it rather than polling only, and if they aren't a pal of anybody already in it, how would they be a part of it? PM a mod or the captain? sure why not? then they would get to see if the person was conversation worthy and hence become friends and invite them.

Maybe the mods could just be more selective when people apply. Some of those I accept are pretty ...well, they sound like they just want gold only. Is there a rule about declining applications?

Well it'd be cool if the polls had lots of votes so personally I think if they're not excessively spamming then don't see a reason to deny them. More opinions can be a good thing.

Is there a rule about declining applications? i like the idea of more selective accepting. maybe tell them on the front page that they must type up some sort of paragraph about something they are interested in to prove they can and will contribute to our tightly knit group. (YES ESSAY TIME KIDS!!!!)

A more interesting way to do it would be to only accept people who contribute some kind of discussion to our ad thread in the regular forums. We could make up random topics and they'd have to add discussion to it.

soggypicklemuncher Oh god, essays...if I'd had to write an essay to join I probably wouldn't have gonk Yeah an actual essay would be a bit much, but I guess if the guild is trying to deter people from joining that would work. XD

XD well soggeh you are safe then. consider yourself one of the lucky few who joined before the essay writing started! but anyway.......its not a REAL essay. just like, type up some crap to prove they are literate and will contribute.

WobinA jupiter4000 Maybe the constant glitches contributed to this? I don't know. glitches contributed to newbs joining PJ? confused No, just about the posting thing. I thought maybe the glitches had something to do with people not posting more often. Like the poll glitch when people couldn't add polls or something like that.

You Rule Supreme A more interesting way to do it would be to only accept people who contribute some kind of discussion to our ad thread in the regular forums. We could make up random topics and they'd have to add discussion to it. But then there are the people like me who don't find guilds that way. I found this guild by going through page after page in the GGN Index, and waiting for a name to jump out and hit me. Then, after hitting it back, I took a look, and joined.

I'm not the only one getting that glitch! It's driving me batty. yeah it has something to do with the new forum code and how they made it automatically resize signatures to the restriction limit. so it is resizing and crap while u are trying to scroll. a small workaround is to click stop in your browser when u can. do this once all the important stuff is already loaded.
