"Hell most of the time." Kamiss laughed, half-joking. "Seven years, huh? Quite a while. I've never settled down that long."

"Mhm. Right, well. Live as one must, if only to choose one's own path when the time comes. Don't ask. I have no idea where that came from. Anyways, since it's after sunset, I vote we retire to the roof for a bit of stargazing. Hm?" She sat up, half out of her chair, waiting to head for the stairs.

"There may even be a few traces of light searing the horizon." Kamiss agreed to her proposal, scooting his chair back and standing up. Isirine looked at them as if to say, Why leave this food?, and seemed perfectly content to continue eating.

"I don't...exactly...know my way around this place yet, so...where am I going? Left or right?" She stood by a hallway that branched off into a T shape, and could not see the end of either direction.

"Right." Kamiss said. He walked along the right passage about 4 paces, turned to his left, and indicated the staircase. "As so. Don't ask; I don't know where that came from." Kamiss grinned, taking her words of a few moments earlier. He bowed, sweeping his arm towards the stairs. "Ladies first."

She smiled, took a hold of her skirt to prevent embarrassing tripping, and headed up the stairs, admiring the scrollwork on the railing as she climbed.
"I have to ask, how did you come upon this place again?"

"Just.... made it. I went to Gaiaonline, clicked a few buttons and........" He laughed. "No, I have been working on this place for years. I crafted some of this, but it was mostly other craftsmen, and builders. To quote a friend: If you can get anything you want immediatly with magic, it's not worth it. Go with the chase." He looked at a statue close to the stairwell, embedded in the wall. "So I took the long way."

"I love the long way. I've always tried to take the weed-covered road, the steeper stairs. Nothing is worth having if it isn't worth working for. This place is beautiful, well worthy of your work."
She puched open the heavy door at the top of the stairs, and stepped out, breathless, into the chill night air. The stars were still shining brightly, beacons in the darkness, though the first pink rays of light were illuminating the eastern horizon.

Kamiss looked at the moon, barely showing, and looked between the failing light of the silver sphere and the beautiful, fiery hell that peeked over yon (YON!) distant mountains. He remembered a very young boy, unlike him, watching the sunrise and sunset each summer day. (Me.) He thought it would be a great thing to begin doing. He snapped his fingers, and a couple of blankets landed in his arms, which he spread out on some chairs, scooting those to the balcony. "Hope you don't mind the shortcut." He joked.

"It's fine with me." She nodded, and accepted his hand as he helped her sit in the shair. It was hard to believe that, after all man had done to destroy the world, she could still see the stars.

(HEY, I take offense to that statement! SHouldn't it be men? BUWAHAHAHAHA no. Man, as in, mankind, right? SEXIST!)
Kamiss lay down on the chair beside her, staring at the sun. He was transported by its warm gaze to a different time and place. SOme would argue better, others worse. Kamiss could care less. He loved where he was at right now.

(Yep, mankind. It's not sexist, women have probably done more damage then men anyway.)

Charlene kept her sight on the very edge of the sunrise, where the brilliant pinks were swiftly changing to oranges and reds. She loves the sunrise, though sunsets were her favorite. But sunsets spoke of ending, loss, and time. Sunrises spoke of beginnings, new dawns, and timelessness. both were beutiful. The whole moment was amazing, and she couldn't believe what changes had come upon her in a year's time. New friendships, a new life. She sighed with hapiness, and closed her eyes. Within moments, she had fallen into a quiet, calm, dreamless sleep, tired from her night of dancing and fun.

(I was joking.)
Kamiss looked at her, and not noticing she was asleep, started talking about the sunrise. He looked at her once more, and, finally seeing she was asleep, got up, took his blanket and covered her with it. He smiled, watching her sleep, and sat back down in his chair, the watch of the sun resumed.

(I know. ^_^)
Charlene smiled in her sleep, feeling the wamrth of the blanket and the rising sun. She rolled over, in her sleep not realizing that she now faced Kamiss, letting him see her smile. Slowly, a single dream slipped behind her closed eyes, like the oftest down-feather. All she would remember when she awoke would be the sense of light, of peace, and of a rainbow of bright colors, telling of happiness.

Kamiss stared out over the rising sun intently, giving the impression he had kept a vigil all night, possibly without reprieve. The sun flashed in his eyes and his gaze was directly at the ball of fire, but no searing rays rendered him blind.
