It was locked in, but luckly he was near the ropes, he reached his other arm and grabed on tightly, if or when Beniot broke out he would slide out of the ring and await him with a chair.

Hitogoroshi returned quickly to the ring area.
He saw Goldberg down and hurting, and Benoit armed with a steel chair, looking to make the kill.
Knowing his opponent was distracted, Hitogoroshi charged the ring and slid stealthily inside, intending to sneak up on Benoit.
He had a dastardly move in mind: It was a variation of the Back Cracker (made famous by the WWE's Carlito), but he would hold his jagged Rattan cane horizontally across Benoit's throat while he dropped.

Beniot, having being focused on Goldberg, had no idea that Histogorshi was standing directly behind him and his move connected to perfection.

As Goldberg attempted to lift him up, Hitogoroshi blocked the lift attempt by swinging his legs forward and scissoring Goldberg's midsection.
He attempted to further the move by locking in a reverse sleeperhold on Goldberg's head.

Beniot took this as a time to recooperate and not interfere, which he did, leaving in a turnbuckle as he tried to shake the cobwebs.
