Gabriel just sat and laughed at the older Malu, realizing only to late what Larkin was doing,
"Waaahh!" he yelped as the wave washed into his small body causing him to slide backwards feet sprawled.
Lifting his sopping head up he blinked bemused. Letting out another shrill laugh he leapt up and gracefully pranced around in attempts to reach the Older Malu

It was her first steps out of the Eastern temple. it was not something she was very comfortable with, but since she was old enough to understand her future obligations, she was prepared for what she would have to do.

Everyone knew of the mane Temple... half a day’s trip from the temple of the East worshipers. And what a day that was.
Turning her tired eyes up to the massive Temple, feeling the stone under her pads.
"I made it,” she breathed softly smiling relieved.
Lifting her head up, rustling her wings slightly as she folded them properly.
Taking another moment, to take in the amazing sight of the mane temple. She breathed in deeply, nervously advancing forward, in search for a fountain, there was no water during her trip.
What she did find was a fountain already occupied by two Malu, of colors she had never seen before on a Malu. One was a baby, though it moved with more coordination them a baby, and the other was an adult, with a deep purple and yellow pelt.
She was almost scared to approach.

In escaping Gabriel, Larkin found himself in shadow. Between him and the sun was the column in the center of the fountain from which the water fell. A violent tremor shook him as the combined chill of water and shade raised his fur, and he turned around to go back. As he turned he saw a Malu watching them. He knew from his quick glimpse only that he did not recognize her. Makes sense, he thought, I don't come around very often. He smiled at her but didn't want to divert his attention from the kid for long. He focused on Gabe again, trying to dodge him, though his moment of distraction would probably cost him another splash.

flailing his legs in an attempts to shower Larkin with more water. only failing miserably as only a few droplets even reached him.
he was getting ready for another watery attack when he noticed that Larkin's attention was on something other then himself.
frowning for a moment, wondering what could POSSIBLY be more interested, he straited up, sliding one paw in front of the other delicately and catching sight of a female Malu standing at the courtyard entrance.
tilting his head slightly he watched Larkin dart off. and just skipped forward, danging his head over the side of the fountain

"what you what?" he said a bit impatiently

her ears slid back a bit as the male noticed her, though with a seemingly friendly greeting, her nerves where eased. at least this one might be friendly. she had never known a Malu from the mane Temple, so she was not sure what they where really like. raising her eyebrows, forgetting to offer a smile back, she blinked as the malu made a sudden movement, and the young malu was now talking to her. she didn't say anything in response. a little offended by the way he had spoken to her. she lowered her face slightly, ears fanning back forward, then glances back to the Adult. if that was the child's father, he sure had a funny way of raising such a rude son.

Relieved to see that he was in no immediate danger, Larkin stepped out of the fountain and shook himself vigorously. At Gabe's rudeness he laughed and gave him a little shove. "Don't mind him. I just met him today and he's already been more annoying than all the other Malu I've ever met combined." He sat back on his haunches and stretched his wings out to let the waning rays of the sun reach his back, smiling at the thought of the huge fire he intended to build that night.

"wwooh" Gabriel yelled out and fall over dramatically as Larkin nudged him. making a loud Splashing sound.
angry little dripping face popping back up from the fountain edge. cheeks budging with water that he spurted out at Larkin.

Kaioa smiled softly, feeling no threat from these Malu,
feeling a little silly for the misunderstanding about the Male being the boys father, and great full she did not say anything out loud about it before she knew.
wisely keeping out of reach of the fountain she finally smiled, gently at the males

"Children will be children" she said softly "at least they get more reserved when they age"
she would have really liked to get a drink, but as the young Malu continued to flail water all over the place, she reconsidered this particular location.

"Hey!" With his paws he wiped at the water that hit him. "You spit on me! Ohh now you're going to get it." With a short leap, Larkin was at the edge of the fountain and reaching into the water to tickle Gabriel. "Think you can spit on me, eh?"

When he finally stopped and hopped back away from the fountain, he was out of breath from laughing. He noticed their spectator again and grinned sheepishly. "Yeah..." he panted, "children will be children." Only a little bit aware of the irony in this, he was more concerned with the fact that he was shivering. He staggered away from the fountain and flopped into the sand. The warmth which it had absorbed from the sun was all but gone, yet he still rolled around in it enthusiastically. Mildly warm sand was much better than cold water.

When he felt like he had gotten most of the water out of his fur and feathers he heaved himself onto his feet. "All right, well, the sunset won't wait. Ready to get going on that fire, Gabriel?" He glanced up at the female Malu and added, "You can come too, if you want. We're going to build a fire. Then dance around it after, because this little monster likes to dance. Should be a fun time."

Kaioa didn't say anything as she watched the Male starting to tickle the young boy.
well... maybe here the children don't quite grow up, she guessed,
head cocked to the side as she watched quizzically brow furrowed and mouth slightly ajar, as the little boy squealed with laugher, shrieking louder then was necessary. she snapped back up closing her mouth when the male moved away from the fountain and onto the warm sand, leaving the boy in the fountain to continue to try and spit water at the male, who was to far.

"awww nooow?" Gabriel wined loudly, pushing back into the fountain away from Larkin, but at the mention of dancing again he squealed and clambered over to the edge of the fountain, hopping out excitedly and shaking off the water. he looked over at the female and laughed at her "you can't Dance" he stated firmly

this took Kaioa by surprise, she had never had a child talk to her like that.
it was true... she could not dance, it was not part of her worship, but how would he know that?
taken aback by this she looked from the young boy, to the adult male, for a hint of what to really expect

He noticed her nervousness and thought he'd try a bit of convention to ease her mind. After all, his and Gabriel's antics were probably somewhat difficult to deal with if one did not have the right sense of humor, and she seemed shy. With a little dip of his head resembling a bow he said, "Oh, sorry, I forgot. My name's Larkin, and the kid is Gabriel." After a moment's pause with a puzzled frown of thought on his face he finished. "Uh... pleased to meet you?" He really didn't do this whole 'introductions' thing very often.

she Pointed her ears up, in a dignified manner. looking at the Child, who hand begun rolling around in the sand, causing it to cling with his wet... already sandy colored looking fur. Gabriel,
then shifter her duel colored eyes up to the Adult. Larkin.
lowering her face slightly, in a small bow she spread her lips back in a small smile.

"I'm called Kaioa"
she responded,
looking curiously down at the Pup Gabriel as he let out a Laugh

"Kaida, das a silly name" seeming to have picked up a D out of nowhere
he looking at her upside down. then Flopped over

"is Kaida ganna play with us?" he asked her, then looked up at Larkin as if expecting him to answer that he wanted to hear.

Kaioa blinked perplexed a couple of times at the strange mispronunciation's of her name, lost in thought for a moment on how he had managed it.
though moving on to the next question, she considered for a moment what she was being invited to. though she had not expected to just leap into the culture rituals like this, she expected to just stay in the background for a while until she could fully assess the proper behavior and life style of the mane Temple Malu. she didn't know if declining the invitation would be a good idea, but she was not entirely sure what she was going to be getting herself into if she did agree to go.

"I'm curiously" she said stepping forward a little to show she was interested "what are you going to be doing with the fire?"

"Ohh nothing too exciting," Larkin drawled, though the prospect of a fire was indeed quite exciting to him. "Just have to gather wood for it, and then start it, and then..." He glanced down at Gabriel and furrowed his brow, searching for the words to continue. "...Enjoy it? I don't know... I follow the god of heat, and I come here to the temple sometimes to teach these Malu what the desert is really all about." He eyed 'Kaida' and his face was bright with unrestrained eagerness as he imagined the height to which the three of them could build the fire, but since he didn't want to freak her out he added, "Of course, you don't have to come if you don't want to."
