I've been checking up on the essay archive -- unfortunately, a hard drive crash ate my backup of the last two essays before I got around to formatting them... sweatdrop , and Elysian's page with the GEN I essays seems to have expired.

I'm trying to buy a ninja band and I was saving for 50,000 gold until I saw 22,000-30,000 on this list. Could I really buy one for that much?

Introduction
As a Gaia Exchange Analyst my job is pretty simple; give advice to buyers and sellers alike using my knowledge from researches of the Exchange. Here in this post, I intend to state all the important parts of the Gaia Exchange Forum and the Gaian Economy. Something that seems so simple, but has such depth and confusion in it.
The Gaian Economy, What is it?
The Gaian Economy IS the Exchange and the Marketplace. It is the trading of items through selling and auctioning. However, apart from that, the economy is a whole other world full of characteristics.
The economy is created of Gaians and Items. It is all about the pricing, value and demends for items that really counts in the Gaian Economy.
The Pricing System
There is no set pricing system, but there is a reaction to everything that happens in the exchange. The prices of each item is decided by its value, demand, rarity and other item's values, demands and rarity.
It is actually quite simple. But if you don't know it, then it becomes a very hard ten thousand peice puzzle. If an item is currently worth 10k and everybody is wanting it. Then the price would go up for buyers to make more money out of them. However, when another item becomes more popular, the other item's worth and demands would be flushed out and it's price will drop rapidly, not to mention that this is the best time to get an item. As this item's price drops, its quantity will disapear and it will soon become more rare, thus bringing its value back again. Except... this time it's even higher.
The whole thing about the Pricing System is the competition between the items. Which one is on highest demand.
New Items
New items are very strong in effecting the Gaia Economy. When a new item is first introduced, it will be very popular and "in". With that, the demands for it will rise and it will become a whole lot more valuable, and with that, making other items less valuable.
For Sellers
A big advice that I have for sellers is to be patient and wait for the item to become more rare.
For Buyers
My advice for buyers is to wait for the low point where an item is less demanded.
Conclusion
So... that's my little guide and my little theory...
