RP With Ana Moofuls Quite unexpectedly, the door flew open, a monstrous gust of wind tearing around the shop...but somehow managing to avoid all the plushies. Within moments Acia rolled through the doorway, attempting to climb back to her feet while at the same time struggling to subdue the wind, succeeding in neither. She finally managed to rise to her feet, bracing herself against the wind and glaring in the general direction it was coming from. "Just STOP!"
Instantly it was gone. Acia sighed in relief, yelling back out the door. "I fixed it, Moo! You can come in now!" Without bothering to wait for her caretaker, she turned to continue inside, pausing in step and blinking back her surprise at the sight of the group within. Finally she giggled, rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly. After mumbling an apology, she started for Ana and Nayati, waving a greeting. ArmaeraFaen Anastasia looked up as the door banged open, and spun about when she realized that her friend had just arrived. "Acia," she yelled, "Over here! Nayati's here! An I was workin' on the car, too!" Moofuls Acia hurried over to her friend's call, flashing the pair a grin. "Hallo Ana! And Nayati! I haven't seen you in a while..." She paused, peering up at him. Then glanced to Ana, then back to Nayati, then giggled. "You're taller than me too." It seemed like just about all of the 'children' were, but Acia didn't seem bothered in the least. More amused than anything. "It's good t'see you again, Nayati."
Abruptly she whirled back on Ana, peering curiously at the reptile. "You worked on the car...? ...Great!! How's it comin'? I'm sorry I wasn't here earlier. I was tryin' to get Moo here faster, but the wind just knocked her over and blew me down the street...." She grinned. An extremely windblown Moo entered a short while later, muttering under her breath as she closed the door behind herself. She shot Acia a glare--which, thanfully, the glider did not see--, then sighed and smiled faintly, nodding greetings all around as she headed for the couch. "Afternoon, all." Iris_Virus -The sphere hit his hooves lightly and bounced back, much to his delight, causing a soft half laugh to escape him. His eyes turned for a moment to glance upon the others around the shop, but quickly went back to make sure he wasn't going to end up drenched.- "Hello Acia! Have I thanked you yet for helping me?" ArmaeraFaen "I got the controls in the front, but I can't get 'em to balance," Anastasia told Acia, "I can't keep the wheel in the right spot- I'm gonna need help. An'... I still don't know how to turn it on. Can you show me?"As Moo came in, he waved and said, "Somehow I knew you couldn't be far behind. How's life? I hope you don't mind- I'm letting them have some modeling glue..." Moofuls Laughing softly, Acia waved away Nayati's thanks, smiling. "Eh, we couldn' just leave Iris like that. Happy to help!" It had been fun, Acia thought, vaguely remembering that adventure. Unexpectedly, her smile falter slightly and she sighed. She hadn't really seen Sidney since then... She wasn't sure she'd ever even seen him as a child.
Abruptly she snapped back to the present, flashing Ana a grin. "You did that much?? I think we can get the wheel to work. An' turnin' it on is no problem!" Skirting around the pair, she led them over to the partially hidden car, eyeing the work Ana had done and nodding her approval. Dropping to the ground, she rolled onto her back and crawled beneath the car, pointing out a few spots to Ana--though she wasn't completely sure she could see. "Originally the switch was here, but I rewired it to come up into the hood near where you put the remote." Pausing, she blinked. "Actually, that may be what's preventin' it from fittin' right."Moo chuckled dryly at Ar's comment, flashing a faint grin and shrugging. "The wind delayed me. Surprisingly good, actually. Had an eventful day... Nah, don't worry about the glue. Acia's had far worse, trust me." ArmaeraFaen Anastasia crouched down next to the car and tried to follow along with Acia's explanations, while she added her own. "I didn't want to cut up the car, yet, but I got a file an' a saw an' some glue. We can use the pointy bit of the file to make holes, or we can just cut stuff with it. So if you wanna move the switch an' change the way I got the remote now, we can do it.""Eventful in a good way, or bad?" he asked, chuckling. "Well, I've shown Anastasia how to use the glue, and made sure she knows to use it in a well-ventilated area, but I wanted to make sure." He leaned over and curiously picked up the small ball of water, and held it in his flattened palm for Moo to see. "She's getting better... Do you ever wonder just how powerful they'll become?" Moofuls Nodding, Acia crawled out from beneath the car and rose to her feet, absently dusting herself off. She circled around around to the hood, lifting it slightly to peer in at the reassembled remote. "Hmm.... yah, I think the file'll be fine. The switch is what's holdin' it crooked, so if we work the switch into the remote parts, it'll fit perfectly. We'll just haveta cut a space in the hood for the steering wheel." She grinned. "Ya did a good job!""Good, methinks," Moo chuckled, yawning. "We've got a new baby in the family, anyway. Almost two. Adopted this little pink-hair baby last night... Darling little boy, named him Jaxom." She paushed, then chuckled, shrugging. "And my 'room-mate's' SM's baby is due today, so everyone's paranoid about that. Got out of the house for a break..." After nodding her approval of the glue, she turned her gaze to the water ball, eyes widening slightly in curiousity. "Will you look at that... Ehh... I hope they have a limit." She grimaced, gesturing to the door. "That wind... Acia can't yet control strong gusts, but she can summon 'em. If she gets too much stronger...." Moo sighed. ArmaeraFaen Anastasia's skin rippled with color as she beamed happily. "I had another idea," she told the glider, "If we can get some longer wires, we can run the remote off the car's batteries, an' we won't have to mess up the hood at all on top! We'll be able to fit everything under it the way it looks on the box.""Anastasia's never really tried to to anything on a very large scale," he told her, "And I'm a little worried about what might happen if she did... it's only a matter of time before she realizes that everything, particularly living things, has water in it." The water-ball suddenly lost cohesion in his hand, and he dumped it out in the sink, shaking his hand dry. Moofuls "I'd actually thought the same thing," Acia replied, grinning. "The remote an' actual batteries have seperate switches, you know? So I figure I can hook the switch from the main batteries to the remote as well, and turn 'em on at the same time with one switch an' one battery pack. S'why I worked the main switch up through, and we can just rewire it from here to hook to the remote." "I hadn't thought of that," Moo murmured, grimacing. "Soo...she could control almost anything, in a sense? That is...rather terrifying. I've worried Acia'll get to the point where she pulls up a tornado or hurricane or summat and not be able to control it..." She grimaced. "I doubt Acia would intentionally hurt anyone, but she could do some serious damage if something like that happened." ArmaeraFaen "Awesome!" Anastasia replied, and began tearing the taped-up batteries away from the remote. "As soon as I get these off you can hook it up, then.""Not so much control them, as simply drive all the water out of their body. Anastasia is a dear young girl, but she is at heart a predator." He thought about the tornado scenario as well, and added, "I suppose this is why we raise them as well as we can. So that they use their potential for some better cause than wanton destruction." Moofuls "Alrighty," chirped Acia, waiting until Ana had removed the batteries. Once that was done, she stepped forward and began disconnecting the wires from the main switch, soon succeeding and tossing the part to the ground. This done, she disconnected the battery pack from the rest of the remote, then twined the original wires with the ones that had been holding it. "Hmm...wish we had some sorta insulation...""Dehydration..." Moo tapped her lip thoughtfully, then shrugged, grinning hesitantly. "That could be useful. Ana... Ana's a good girl, she wouldn't do that to anyone.. right?" She paused, then shrugged. "But you're right, of course. They're all good kids thus far, and as long as we see to it that they stay that way, we shouldn't have to worry." ArmaeraFaen Anastasia offered the duct tape, and said, "We could wrap it up with this...""I suppose all parents worry about this. But... Nuclear power, nuclear bombs, same idea, same man, and it simply expands the world. I would say it is certainly a broader world, since..." Moofuls "That works!" Beaming, Acia accepted the duct tape and tore off a few strips, carefully wrapping it around the wires, one strip after another. "That should do it... Hope it works. I'd hate ta haveta redo it all. Not that it took long, but...all the same."Moo chuckled softly, then grimaced. "Errg, don' let Acia hear 'nuclear'. She's still upset that her bomb didn't work. Though I don't think she'll make another... The bomb blowing up Gambino's kinda got to her." ArmaeraFaen "Ah, Gambino who what now?" he asked in confusion, "No offense, but I think your door must open to a different world... I don't know anything about what you just said, and if someone had blown up an island I'm sure I'd have heard..." "Hey, sometimes we just gotta do things over an' over 'till we get 'em right," Anastasia reassured the sugar glider. "Eventually we'll get it perfect."Moofuls "Oh, not the whole island." She blinked, cocking her head curious at Ar. "You didn't hear? Gambino's mansion was hit by a bomb to get rid of the zombies... I thought everyone'd know by now." "Perfectly would be nice," Acia cheerfully replied, then shrugged. "But sometimes perfect's not an option. I'd like to get as close as possible, though."ArmaeraFaen "And Gambino is a who now?" he asked carefully. "By Whatever Means Necessary!" Anastasia seemed to be quoting something, as she responded. "But now what do we have to do to make it work?"Moofuls "Gambino, that filthy rich snob who has parties every excuse he gets?" She chuckled dryly, scowling. "Left us all in the mansion, he did. And escaped before the bomb hit... The place was under lock down 'cause of the zombies, so no one could get in or out. I was still there when it hit..." She shrugged, sighing. "Explosion knocked me into the water, so I got lucky. As far as I know, anyone who didn't get into the basement died or was thrown into the water. I'm suprised no one's sued Gambino yet." "Now...." Acia shrugged, blinking at the car. "Now we just have to add the covering, really. And a few odd bits here and there. We'll do the tires last, umm.... The hard part's done."ArmaeraFaen "Zombies, huh?" He sounded... skeptical, but willing to take her word for it. "But why would a bomb be sufficient to kill all the zombies in a given structure? I mean, you drop a bunker-buster on something and you get survivors... and zombies are supposed to be much sturdier than people, right?" "Well, let's do that!" Anastasia was practically bouncing in her boots with excitement. "I wanna see if we can make it drive tonight!"Moofuls Moo shrugged, grinning slyly. "Fine, don't believe me. But I was a zombie myself for a short while, 'til someone was smart enough to dump one of those potions down my throat..." She trailed off, then shrugged, continuing. "As I said, all survivers were either in the water, or in the basement. Far as I can tell, they managed to get the basement clear of zombies before the bomb hit. And then water sort of...breaks down the zombies, so they all 'died' in that." She paused, glancing to Indy. "Some survived?" Laughing, Acia willingly complied, glancing quickly over the car before getting to work. Deftly snapping the remote in place she closed the hood over it and stepped away to rummage among the pieces, dragging out a door. The best things about this particular car were that the pieces were light (they were plastic), and more things snapped together than actually screwed on once you got past the interior. The door easily clicked into place, and Acia headed for another piece, flashing Ana a grin. "help yourself."ArmaeraFaen "Okay, now I'm confused," he admitted, "because if the zombies are the walking dead, hideous in all their unholy evil, yes, okay, vaporize them. On the other hand, if such a state is curable via this solution, why not simply flood the structure with the solution in aerosol form? I mean, I'm just throwing out ideas here..." Anastasia gleefully grabbed another few parts and hauled them back to the car to snap them into place. At this pace, she might be able to drive around the shop before she had to go to bed!Moofuls "No one knew the bomb was coming save Gambino." Moo scowled, shrugging. "And don't ask me. I was changed back shortly before the bomb hit, didn't have time to help anyone else." Pausing, she glanced to Indy, chuckling softly. "Mayhaps. Actually, I think I've seen a few myself. Just didn't mention it incase they weren't zombies. Wouldn't want to insult anyone." She winked. One piece after another was snapped into place, easily managed by the two small creatures. Acia finished by snapping on a side mirror, then glanced over to Ana, eyes glinting with excitement. "Just the tires, now, and one last check over. And then we'll drive!"ArmaeraFaen As LP moved past him, he asked, "Hey, where ya goin'?" He shook his head as Indyana continued about the zombies. It didn't make sense... but it didn't need to. Their world was not his, and needed not follow the same rules. Anastasia's colors flashed with excitement, and she dashed away to come back rolling a pair of tires to hook up.Moofuls Moo merely shook her head in reply to Indy's queary, but eventually murmured a reply. "'Course, I didn't know anyone there except for LP and Kanth, and I haven't seen Kanth since then...but Acia said she's alright." This subject was...disturbing. Umm, search for a change... Laughing, Acia did the same, then propped up one corner with a small toy jack and popped on a wheel. "Easy enough. Not like real wheels where ya haveta take forever to hook 'em on." She snapped the jackl back down, then moved to anther corner, propping it up for Ana to do this one.ArmaeraFaen He nodded, and called to Anastasia, "I'll be right back, honey. Don't hurt anyone!" Having done that, he stepped out with LP. Anastasia carefully snapped the wheels in place as Acia held the jack for her. Once all the wheels were in place, she climbed into the car, and said, "Let's go!"indyana Indyana watched the two leave the shop, feeling oddly responsible. Of course you're responsible... prattling on about zombies and such. For shame... she growled mentally. She watched the remaining Velvets play with the car. For some reason, the phrase, "Building a better mousetrap" kept coming to mind... She glanced up at Moo, realising that she hadn't really talked to her about Acia at all. Excellent subject change opportunity. "Acia seems quite the mechanic," she observed to the parent. Moofuls Moo chuckled softly, glad for the subject change, shrugging guiltily. "My fault on that part. I'm a bit of an inventor, mechanic...spare time hobby thing. Used to have her in the shop with me while she was a plush, and she's been fascinated with it ever since. 'Course, chemistry's taking most of her time of late... She'll be better than me soon." Acia climbed into the car from the other side, slamming the door shut behind her. She flicked the switch, and after a moment the car rumbled to life. Cheering triumphantly, the glider took hold of both controls, flashing Ana a grin. "Ready?"indyana Indyana looked over as the car started up, a small smile crossing her lips. "They seem to learn things very fast," she commented. I'm guessing they aren't more than five months old, and already, they are building cars." ... a better mousetrap, her mind interjected for some reason. Indyana slapped the thought away in annoyance. Some days, she thought for certain she was losing it. "I guess I better start planning now, if I want to be a parent someday... so much to teach them, in such a short time." ArmaeraFaen "Yeah!" Anastasia whooped happily, "Let's go!" Moofuls Acia immediately pushed forward one control, and the car shot forward off the shelf, landing on the floor with a bounce before speeding off across the room. The glider laughed aloud, easily steering with the other control, driving circles around the two remaining humans before continuing at random around the room. "Wanna go outside??" indyana Indyana watched the Velvets with growing amusement. "I'd say they are on their way to their wild teenage years," she told Moo, with a grin, remembering herself doing similar things to that at one time in her life. ArmaeraFaen "Yeah! Outside's gonna be awesome!" Anastasia's colors were in constant motion now, shifting across her body in eye-searing brightness. Moofuls "Errg, don't tell me that," Moo groaned, staggering back as if she couldn't bear the thought. Actually, it was rather scary.... Well, they'd live. Moments later she grinned, chuckling softly and cocking her head towards Indy, absently watching the Velvets out of the corner of her eye. "You think so? I'm not sure if they'll actually grow anymore. This might be it." "Than off we go!" A moment later the door again burst open, accompanied by a gust of wind just as large as the earlier one. However, this time Acia was able to manipulate it to stay a few feet above the ground, so the two Velvets in the car could easily drive out beneath it. The door slammed shut behind them, and the pair sped off down the sidewalk...to no where in particular. Wheee, this was better than the hovercraft!indyana Indyana shrugged. "If they've been learning this fast for this long, there's no reason to think they won't keep learning. Even if they physically don't grow, they'll mature mentally, unless there's some sort of magical stop point... I suppose that's possible too." Indyana looked up as the two Velvets careened out of the shop. "Uh... should we be worried?" ArmaeraFaen Anastasia whooped with glee! This seemed so much faster than the Explorer! "This is great! How much faster can we go?!" Moofuls "A very good point..." Moo shrugged, thinking. Well, the Velvets were bound to grow at least a bit further, aye? They looked too...childish to permanently remain this way. Indy's comment snapped her from her daze, and she glanced up, blinking. "Hmm? Oh, yes, um...WAIT-" Moo bolted towards the door, forcing her way through the wind--which Acia had convienently forgotten to halt-- and running down the sidewalk after the pair. "ACIA, GET BACK HERE!" The glider completely ignored Moo, not entirely on purpose; she couldn't hear her. "Let's see!" she shouted over the wind, pushing the control as far forward as it could go and summoning a gust up behind them, pushing the car even faster. Instantly the speed nearly doubled, sending Acia into a fit of giggles, doing her best to dodge around passer-bys...though many of them had to jump out of the way.indyana At Moofuls's sudden alarm, Indyana jumped up and bolted out of the shop after her. She ran down the street, trying to figure out where the two Velvets had gone. I wonder where Ar got to? Should I go tell him about this? she wondered as she ran. Well... if it were my kid, I'd want to know. She kept an eye out for Ar and LP as she ran down the street. ArmaeraFaen Anastasia hung on for dear life, loving every minute of it, as they caromed along the sidewalk. The tailwind scattered pedestrians and all they carried, and Anastasia had a sudden idea. "There!" she shouted over the sound of their passage, "Go towards the puddle there!" Moofuls Without question, Acia nodded in reply, altering their direction just enough to head for the puddle. She realyl wasn't sure what Ana had in mind, but, eh, did it matter? This was GREAT!"ACIIIIIIIIIIIIA, COME BACK!" Right, so, yelling was incrediably pointless. The two Velvets were so far ahead, it was unlikely she'd be able to catch them. But...they were smart kids, they'd come back eventually, aye? Unless the batteries died first. Which was possible. But Moo could find them, then. ....Ar was going to kill her... indyana Indyana caught up with Moo finally. "Sorry, I would have said something sooner if I had realised this was going to be such a problem... I didn't see Ar anywhere out here though... What can I do?" ArmaeraFaen The wheels lost all purchase as soon as the car hit the surface of the puddle, and the car shot forward, now being propelled by the wind alone. Water ran up the sides of the car and pooled behind the young velvets, and left a steady trail of spray behind the wheels as they shot forward.
"Use the wind," Anastasia yelled, "an' I'll make sure we don't slow down!" Moofuls "Eh, my fault, not yours. I should've been paying closer attention." Moo sighed, slowing her speed somewhat now that she could no longer see the Velvets. "Umm...Any chance you can fly?" Yeah, right, brilliant Moo. "Err, scratch that. I...have no idea." Acia's mouth dropped open in surprise at the trick, but she quickly disguised it with a laugh, nodding in agreement. A dangerous grin flashed across the glider's face, eyes glinting dimly as the gust grew in power, propelling the Velvets at far faster rates than was safe for the tiny car. Not that the glider was even thinking of that right now. ""WHOOOOOOOOHOOO!"indyana Think think think... Indyana demanded of her brain. There's got to be something..."This road goes pretty much straight through this district and then loops around. We could try to cut them off on the other side, but I'm not sure how exactly we could stop them other than throwing ourselves in their way. We just have to hope they stop..." ... and don't crash, she added silently, suddenly realising that they had the equivalent of a couple of kids on a joyride running on the streets of Gaia. ArmaeraFaen The car skated along with a glide an ice-skater would have envied, as Anastasia slid a thin layer of water between the spinning wheels and the pavement, letting it get flung back as spray without ever allowing such a mundane force as friction attempt to halt their acceleration. She let out a delighted scream that rivaled Acias, howling "YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!"

Continued Moofuls "Aye....aye, we'll, umm....we'll meet 'em on the loop." Moo slowed to a walk, sighing, nervously wringing her hands. "Where's it loop? I'm not to familiar with this area, really..." Unknown to Acia, they were quickly gaining even more speed. She'd completely lost control of the wind, which continued to grow at an alarming rate--not that she was paying attention to things such as breezes. Cheers and whoops of delight frequently interupted the glider's laughter. This was easily the most exciting thing Acia had ever done in her life. She found herself vaguely wondering if anything could compare to it. Maybe skydiving..... Ohhh yah, skydiving.ArmaeraFaen Anastasia added her own cries of happiness as they barreled down the sidewalk, especially as she saw the alleyway coming up before them. Any second now, Acia would turn and they would zoom past the open gap and out past the storefronts.
Any second now...indyana Indyana strained her ears, trying to hear the tiny car motor. The shops were busy, even at this hour, and she couldn't pick it out in the crowd. "It's... just up ahead..." she called to Moofuls as they emerged from the alley and made their way along the street toward the intersection. Indyana made it to the intersection and stopped in the middle of the street, looking in the direction the Velvets should be coming from. She didn't see anything out of the ordinary... and she didn't hear the car yet either. "I don't see them," she said, then turned to look the other way, just in case they had missed them... but nothing seemed amiss there either. "Where are they?" Moofuls Moo merely nodded in reply, running after Indy, acting much calmer than she actually was. Acia should know better! Everything'd work out, though. Acia could drive well enough (Moo knew this from the hovercraft), so they'd just take the loop and end right back where she and Indy were heading. All...was...well... She slowed to a walk as they emerged onto the street, turning expectantly in the direction the Velvets would come, listening intently for the little car. Shouldn't be long. Acia judged the distance well, and began the turn with time to spare...but nothing happened. Surprised, she jerked the controller to the side, but still there was no change. The glider's joyful cheers abruptly faded to a shout of horror, screaming above the wind. "IT WON'T TURN, ANA! IT'S NOT GON-"
The small car hit the wall head on, jolting both Velvets forward, then back against their seats. The hood and everything within it crumpled in an instant; not surprising, considering the speed they had been going, not to mention the car was mostly plastic. But even once the car had stopped, the wind continued blowing, forcing both Velvets forward against the dashboard. It was a few minutes before Acia was able to calm it, and immediately afterward she blacked out, oblivious to the fading winds. indyana Indyana looked at Moo, suddenly fearing the worst. They should have been here by now. "Maybe we should start heading up and see if they got tired and stopped somewhere...?" Moofuls "Aye, let's...head up the street," Moo muttered in reply, immediately following her own words and starting up the sidewalk. The car was small, and it couldn't go -that- fast, so there was a good chance it was just taking the Velvets a while, but at the same time...something didn't feel right. "They can't be too far ahead." indyana Indyana moved up the street with Moofuls, checking one side while the other girl checked the other. I'm sure they're fine... they just stopped somewhere, she thought, but even as she thought it, she knew it wasn't likely. It was more likely something had happened to them. ArmaeraFaen Anastasia was stunned momentarily, first by the impact, and then the pressure of the winds. But as the winds began to die, she started moving again. In the movies, crashed cars blew up. And this wasn't a movie, but... she didn't want to take chances. The remnants of the car were easily pushed aside or kicked away, but Acia had passed out. Anastasia tried to pick her up, but the sugar glider, as small as she was, was too much for the small chameleon, and so Anastasia had to settle for half-carrying, half-dragging her companion away from the shattered car and deeper into the alley-way. Her chest hurt, and her colors were turning dark, but at last, Anastasia had the two of them far enough away from the wrecked car that she felt safe. She sat down next to Acia and began speaking softly, saying, "Acia, hey, you gotta wake up, c'mon..." Suddenly, a noise caused her to look up from her fallen friend. A large, evil-looking tomcat had come to investigate this intrusion into his territory, and he liked what he saw- two potential meals, conveniently presented.
Anastasia blurred and stepped back into the shadows, hoping that the cat would go away, but instead, he slunk forward to claim the fallen sugar glider."No!" Anastasia yelled, "Bad cat! Go away!" She hurried forward to stand between the cat and her friend, but this availed her little, as he now saw her again.
The tom was not fussy, and was perfectly content to start with the noisy squirming thing. Anastasia shrieked in terror, squeezed her eyes shut, and flung up her tiny arms as the cat swatted at her with a paw almost the size of her body. "GO AWAY!!!" she yelled.
And suddenly, he did. With a startled yowling, the cat ran away, and as she cautiously opened her eyes, Anastasia noticed a splattering of water all about, some of it tainted with a thin, reddish fluid.
She returned to Acia's side and begged, "Please, Acia! You gotta wake up..." Moofuls Even with the chameleon's whispers and prods, it was a few minutes before Acia awoke. Groaning, she pulled herself into a sitting position, one hand rising to rub her head. She gasped, then winced, immediately pulling away, staring in shock at the blood-splashed fur. After a slight hesitation, she reached back up and dabbed at it again, reassuring herself that the cut wasn't bad; bleeding a bit, but not bad.
Memories of the crash suddenly flooded back to her, and she immediately looked up, eyes searching frantically for Ana. The glider sighed in relief when she saw her friend right beside her, vaguely wondering why she hadn't noticed Ana there before... Oh well, that wasn't important. "You alright?" she asked, though Ana didn't look too hurt... the car was in much better condition. But that wasn't important.
"I'm sososososo sorry, Ana! I didn' mean to wreck the car! It was just goin' so fast, and it wouldn' turn, and then the wind wouldn' stop, an' pleasepleaseplease don't hate me! I really didn' mean it, an' I promise I'll nevereverever do somethin' that stupid again, even if it was just about the COOLEST thing I've ever done. Oh please don' hate me!?!" Right, so she was rambling... Could you blame her? ArmaeraFaen He walked back into the empty shop, and knew that something had gone horribly wrong. The shop lay empty, devoid of life. He checked the area that Anastasia and Acia had been hiding in, and discovered that their car as missing, as well. Back he ran to the shop door, and concentrated on his bond with Anastasia. Holding Anastasia in his mind, he swung the door open, and was presented with an alien street scene. It wasn't Fayetteville, so he knew- he hoped- that the door had sent him to Anastasia. "I'm not mad!" Anastasia exclaimed, "I was afraid! You wouldn't wake up, an' then this cat came, but I yelled and he ran away... Acia, I don't know any of this place! How're we gonna get home?"indyana Somewhere a few streets over, Indyana was still helping Moofuls search for the runaways. No one seemed to have seen anything unusual; everyone was going about their business without a pause. Where are they? she wondered again. Moofuls "You're not?" Acia seemed both surprised and relieved. But, wait, huh? "You fought off a cat!?" Cool! Alley cats were big and scary. Moo was always worried they would mistaken Acia for a mouse, so generally wouldn't let her near them. But Ana had scared one away! Shaking her head clear, she returned her thoughts to the present, gnawing her bottom lip nervously. "I....dunno. I'm not sure where we are either...We were drivin' too fast for me to tell."
Sighing, she climbed to her feet, swaying slightly at first and holding her head. Whooo, dizzy.... But after a short while the feeling faded and she looked up, smiling nervously and glancing around. "Umm...let's just head back the way we came, then? We'll leave the car... I don' think we'll be able to fix it. An we didn't ever turn, so if we just go straight, we'll get to the shop eventually..."Moo had picked up speed by this time, jogging up the street in the direction the Velvets should be coming from. Where were they?? Her eyes searched the street up ahead, subconcioously clinging to the bond with Acia...which meant the glider was alright, though where she was, Moo didn't know. "They cant be far..." ArmaeraFaen "I yelled an' pushed at him an' he went away," Anastasia said, "I hope I don't get in trouble..." She looked at the faint, rapidly drying trail they had left, and agreed, "I guess... But didn't we make a couple'a turns when we came out?" Still anything was better than staying in the alleyway, so she blurred her colors to that of her surroundings, and moved out in the general direction that they had come from.He moved through the crowd of strangers quickly, a man on a mission. Those who thought to block his passage found themselves stepping back as they saw the expression on his face; a man on a hunt, who would not stop at their life to complete it. He hurried down the street, pausing every now and again to check his bearings. The alien feelings of need and fear grew stronger in one direction, weaker in all others- but the buildings did not respect the direct line of this pull. Moofuls "Why wouldja get in trouble?" Acia blinked, cocking her head uiously at her friend. 'You saved me! You saved us -both-! Ar can't possibly get mad at you for that." Satisfied with this 'excuse', Acia smiled, though it soon faded. Eep, Moo would be furious! They shouldn't have ever left the shop, and she'd wrecked the car, -and- her head was bleeding and making her hair all sticky! Sighing, Acia dabbed lightly at the cut, winced, then ignored it, focusing on the larger probem.
"Umm...did we...turn? I honestly can't remember most of the ride... We were goin' so fast, 'twas all a big blur, ya know?" But when Acia lookedback, Ana was gone. The glider's face fell...until she realized that piece of the wall was walkin away. Sighing in relief, she walked after her friend, staying slightly behin so she wouldn't lose sight of Ana. indyana Indyana peered carefully into each alley on her side of the street, but she didn't see anything that would warrant further inspection. We're searching for a tiny car with two tiny anthro children in it... in the entire shop district... and we can't ask anyone because that would just sound crazy. This could take a while. I hope those two have just gone back to the Toychest and haven't gotten lost...ArmaeraFaen Anastasia paused, and complained, "You were the one drivin'... you don't know either? What if we never get back!?" But she continued marching resolutely down the only path she could think of, back the way she hoped they'd come. Moofuls "We were goin' to fast.." Acia repeated apologetically, sighing and looking down. Moments later she looked back up, glancing curiously around th street. "We'll get back, Ana! I promise! Don't worry...Look, I've got an idea!" Abruptly she turned and ran back towards the broken car in the alley, stumbling to a halt as she neared it and staring curiously at the broken frame. Nodding to some silent thought, she headed into the alley and straight for...a garbage can? "Just you watch!"Moo wasn't bothering to search the alleys. Acia wasn't there, she could tell. Though where exactly the glider was, she couldn't be sure. Something kept guiding her forward, so she had no choice but to follow--not that she would have chosen otherwise. They had to find the Velvets! ...Preferably unharmed and before Ar realized they were missing. ArmaeraFaen Anastasia was momentarily nonplussed, but she turned back to watch what Acia was up to. If only they could get back to the shop quickly, she would be happy. She just hoped her guardian wasn't mad at her. Or worse, disappointed. She was never sure if he got mad, but it was terrible to feel his disappointment. He, meanwhile, had paused as the feeling changed slightly and began to move. Anastasia had begun moving, but where she was going he couldn't tell. He would simply have to attempt to follow and overtake her. Moofuls Acia climbed up the side of the garbage can, not willing to risk gliding again just yet, and shoved off the top, gagging at the smell. A light breeze soon swept it away, though, and after taking a deep breath Acia jumped down into the garbage can. Desperate times..... Faint rustling noises came from within the garbage a Acia searched, the glider's voice occasionally echoing from he can. "Smells horrible in here... Takin' a bath first thing when I get home, eck. Oh, here we go...This should work!"
This time, the glider used a breeze to lift herself from the garbage can, a length of strong yarn held in her paws. She alighted lightly on the ground, still muttering about the smell, and immediately went to work prying one side panel off the car. ArmaeraFaen Anastasia crept back down the alley towards the wrecked car and Acia's new project, and asked, "hey, you need a hand?"She didn't know what the ugar glider was doing, but it stood to reason that more hands would make it go faster. Moofuls "Nah," Acia immediately chirped, meaning no offense. This was what Acia thrived on: spontanious, slightly eccentric inventing. And this didn't even have to work -long-, and long as it worked. The shop wasn't -too- far away.
She soon managed to pull off the plastic piece, and dumped it on the ground, pulling a tiny screwdriver from her belt. She then proceeded to unscrew the four screws holding the door together; they fell away, leaving four holes completely through the two layers of plastic. Grinning, Acia pulled the inner layer off and tosses it aside, then tore the yarn in half and began threading it through the holes, one piece to the two holes on each side. "Ever seen a parachute?" ArmaeraFaen Now Anastasia was confused- she had seen them, in movies, and on the base, but what did they have to do with being lost? "Yeah, but... what's that got to do with us?" she asked bluntly, "I mean, we're not falling..." The sugar glider was a lot of fun when she made sense, but this wasn't really one of those times, and Anastasia couldn't help but wish she knew what was going on. Moofuls Acia explained as she worked. "We're small. We're reeeeeal far from the shop, and it'll take us ages to get back without the car. I can glide, but you can't, 'cause you don't have anything to catch the wind. I'll make you a parachute type thing, and I can use wind to fly us back towards the shop. It'll save time, an' whoever's lookin' for us'll have a better chance of seein' us, you know?"
All through the explanation, Acia had been adjusting the yarn, relapping it a few times and tying well placed knots to form loops for hand holds. She also carefully tied it to stay balanced, so the thin plastic wouldn't slide on the rope and unbalance her friend. 'Course...that was assuming Ana even went along with her idea at all. Personally, Acia thought it was good, but she was also used to gliding. Ana might not enjoy it as much. ArmaeraFaen Anastasia wasn't sure she liked that idea, but she had to admit, it'd take forever to get back just by walking... "Well," she considered, "You're not gonna... I mean, you know what you're doin' right? I don't wanna break my leg or nothin'..." Her guardian often disparaged people who jumped and used parachutes, because they got injured so often and kept doing it... "He's gonna be real mad if I bust my leg... an' I'm not gonna like it either." Moofuls "I'll be careful," promised Acia, flashing her friend a smile. "An' it won't be like normal parachuting, 'cause the wind will be carrying you in the air, you know? As long as I control the strength, it'll set ya down gently and you won't have to worry about getting hurt. 'Twill be a lot faster, trust me." ArmaeraFaen Anastasia eyed the contraption dubiously, but finally sighed, "Well, okay. I trust you, Acia... you're cool. If you say you can do it, I believe you." And with that statement of trust, she began to struggle into the cobbled-together parachute harness. She just hoped her companion didn't see her. Moofuls Beaming her approval, Acia stepped to the side, only approaching once Ana had struggled into the harness to double check its security. Once reassured, she took a step back, cocking her head curiously at the gear. "Hmm... Well, it'll do. Right, um... don't panic, it's a bit weird at first when the wind lifts ya. But you'll get used to it easy enough. The harness'll hold, so just relax."
She really hoped she was right. Taking a deep breath to calm her own nerves, Acia summoned a gust, light at first, but soon growing in power to lift the chameleon off the ground. Moments later the breeze split to catch Acia as well, and the glider rose to a height to hover just beside her friend, flashing Ana a hesitant grin. "Good so far?" ArmaeraFaen Anastasia gulped nervously and clutched at the harness as she was picked up by the wind- somehow, this was just different than being picked up by a person. She knew her guardian would never drop her, and for all her brave words, Anastasia just didn't know how long Acia might be able to hold her up. "I'm okay," she told the glider, "Let's just go..." Moofuls Acia felt an immediate drain on her strength from the effort of picking up another creature, even if it was just a Velvet. But the parachute helped to lighten the load, so sustaining the wind really wasn't a problem--yet. Flashing Ana a reassuring grin, she altered the angle of the gust to push them back towards the shop...and off they went, easily faster than they would have been walking, but at a slow enough pace to allow Ana to get used to flying. ArmaeraFaen Anastasia kept up her death-grip on the harness, but gradually became less frightened as they continued to move without plummeting to their deaths.
They were higher than she'd ever been before, except for when they'd been on the plane, and that had been inside... Just watching the world around them was enough to elicit a small, "Oh... wow..." Moofuls The glider easily overheard her friend's quiet exclamation, unable to surpress a grin. "Isn't it lovely?" she asked, performing a little spin midair just because she could. "And it's so much faster than walking, and it doesn't make me any more tired. 'Cept now, 'cause there's two of us...but it's not bad," she quickly added, more as reassurance to herself than anything. And it wasn't bad. They could easily make the shop at this rate, even if it took them a while. At least Ana was enjoying it.Could they really have gone this far? Moo was beginning to wonder if she had gotten lost... But no, it felt like Acia was this way, and Ana would be wherever Acia was, soo.... Sighing, she paused in step, pulling her eyes from the road and stretching her arms out over her head while she waited for Indy to catch up. A faint smudge in the sky further up the street caught her eye, and her arms immediately fell back to her sides. But moments later she raised one to point out the dots, gesturing Indy over with the other. "Can you tell what that is?" ArmaeraFaen She was moving again. A pair of young lovers holding hands gave a startled exclamation as he simply shoved them aside and altered his course, picking up a steady ground-eating jog. The unnervingly blank expression on his face did not waver for an instant as he ran, damn-all-comers, after the moving signal. Anastasia smiled experimentally at Acia. "I've never done this before," she said, regaining some of her color, "But... it's not so bad..."indyana Indyana turned to squint her eye up at the spots. "It looks like a..." She stopped. She had been going to say "balloon", but that definitely wasn't what that was... in fact, now it looked more like two objects. She squinted, then blinked and tried again. Then, something occurred to her. Acia, the little furry one, had rushed into the shop on a gust of air. Indyana turned to look at Moo. "How high can Acia fly usually?" she asked the woman. Moofuls "It can be scary the first few times," Acia admitted, smiling. "But you get used to it, an' it's really fun. Y adon't need to worry, I wouldn't let you fall." It was a long way to f all, too, Acia realized, peering down at the street. Hmm, maybe they should go lower? But at this height, they wouldn't be bothered by any of the people walking on the sidewalk, and they could also avoid lots of stares. "As high as she needs," Moo shrugged, the significance of the question missing her completely for the moment. "I've seen her--HOLYCRAPTHAT'SACIA!" Delayed reaction. Whirling back to face the two Velvets, she cupped her hands around her mouth, yelling up at the pair. She wasn't entirely sure they would hear due to their height, but it was worth a try. It didn't even seem odd to her that Ana was flying, too. "ACIIIIIA, GET DOWN HERE!" indyana Indyana watched them. They seemed to be bobbing easily on some wind that she couldn't feel... in the direction of the Toychest. "I think they're headed back to the shop," she observed to Moo. "At least they're all right..." ArmaeraFaen Anastasia gulped and turned dark as she heard Acia's guardian. "Hey... isn't that Moo?" she asked, worried. If Moofuls had found them, could her own guardian be very far behind? His head snapped around as he heard Moofuls' voice carrying above the crowd, and he altered course, bounding over a bum and dashing down the sidewalk towards her position. As he got nearer, he saw that she was pointing and waving at something above them in the air- and then he realized, that the worry and fright was pointing in exactly the same direction. "ANASTASIA!" he shouted, "I'm coming!" Anastasia slumped in her harness... and hoped that they'd just fall out of the air now. indyana Indyana heard Ar's voice boom out from down the street, and she turned to look. Then, she glanced up at the Velvets again. They seemed to be doing all right... although now that she could see better, she had no idea how exactly Anastasia was staying up in the air. Moofuls "Maybe, but.." Any further words were cut off as Moo heard Ar's shouts. She groaned, holding her face in one hand. So much for getting back before he found out... Well, time to face the music. She sighed, then turned her eyes back up to the pair, yelling, "GET DOWN, NOW!" "That is most certainly Moo," Acia reluctantly muttered. She sighed, then grimaced. And Ar was here too.... Well, she and Ana could get grounded for life a the same time, then. "Hold on, we're goin' down." The gust gradually lightened, at a slow enough rate that the two Velvets didn't suddenly drop. Both easily landed on the sidewalk a short distance from their guardians, though Acia kept the breeze going slighly; the 'parachute' would fall on Ana otherwise.indyana Indyana winced a bit on Anastasia's behalf. Ar certainly did not look pleased... he looked very worried and a bit crazed, actually. And Moo looked as though she had been dreading his reaction. Well, it was a good landing, at least, she thought. I wonder what happened to the car?

And it's finally my turn to post again! Acia's been hoarding the log since the Halloween incident. Seems to think writing is bad for my health. The nerve... I'm perfectly fine, though I now have another mohawk. Not willingly, might I add. Jack and XBear (my sister-in-law) decided it wasn't healthy for my stitches to be covered up, so they shaved my head. Again. And dyed it pink. I swear I'll kill them both.
But on to other matters. Acia's still 'grounded', mostly because she's already forgotten that she is, and has been too engrossed in her latest project to complain. It's a good idea, I must say, so I'm not protesting. Quite the contratry, I've been doing everything I can to help her finish it. The design is a bit confusing, but, eh...she'll get it, I'm sure.
What she's trying to make, basically, is a personal heater...sorta. This deserves some background info, I suppose. See, one of my SkullMonkeys, Isto, has a metal arm. Birth defect...thing. Anywho, during the summer we discovered that it's not the onle part of him that's metal. Quite a few of his 'bones' are, and wirse all throughout his body help keep him alive. All well and good...during the summer.
But now it's getting cold, and we've discovered that very cold temperatures shut down these metal and wires. (Few different incidents, long story) So Istos under house arrest until the warm weather returns, and already it's driving him mad. Acia wants to make this heater to somehow...keep him warm from the inside out. She's hardly gotten any sleep since she began. I actually have to force her from the laps at night. She's so excited about it, though... Acia's finally found a way to use her talents to help someone else. Besides the whole muffing thing, of course.
I admire her determination... But it's a bit scary. I think I'm going to head to the shop in a couple of days. Get her out the house, you know? She gets all...mad scientisty when she's inside for too long. Besides, Isto can wait a few more days... Toodles.

"Guess what, log! Today's a holiday! Or, Moo says it is, anyway. 'Tis somethin' called Thanksgiving. I don't think it's a Gaian holiday, log. I suppose 'tis from wherever Moo came from before. She hasn't always lived here, you know. I dunno where she's from.
"I can't decide if I like this holiday or not. I suppose I do, but it really is very confusing. Thanksgiving, giving thanks, that's easy enough to understand. But then Moo started ranting about something called pill-grims and engines. It was all very, very confusing, log. Moo said that the pill-grims landed on a rock and got cold, so the engines gave them turkey.
"How does that make any sense at all?! What's a pill-grim? Why didn't they just go to the store if they were hungry? Where did an engine get a turkey? For that matter, how could an engine give anyone anything even if it somehow managed to get something!?!.... Umm... My head hurts, log.
"I don't understand... But a holiday's a holiday, so I guess I don't need to. We're going to have a big fancy family dinner, log! An' Moo says a bunch of close friends are coming, too. Other people who live too far away from their families to visit. Even Isto promised to come for a while! I haven't seen him much since her got married... I guess that makes sense, though.
"I'm really tempted to go into a long ramble about marriage right now, but I can't! 'Cause this entry's about Thanksgiving! Plus, Moo says I talk too much. ...Anywho, I get to help cook dinner, log! Lenta's trying to teach me how to cook, 'cause me an' Moo burn everything. 'Cept for muffins. 'You could burn a salad, 'Cia!' Lenta says. Lenta doesn't make much sense. Even I know you don't cook salads."
Footsteps. "Acia?"
"Hi Jack!! I'm recording a log entry."
"Eh, delete me off it, would you? Lenta says she's about to start cookin', so wrap it up." Footsteps. A door closing.
"See log, I toldja! So, I'ma go cook now. Happy Thanksgiving!"

We're sick... the whole bloody household has come down with the flu. It's an epidemic! I don't know what to do... Everyone who'd normally help has caught it too. Jack, Mauli, Lenta...Even Acia's caught it. Poor dear... She's never been sick before and is not at all happy with the situation. I keep catching her trying to sneak to the labs. She won't just lay down and rest, which is only making things worse.
I finally just gave in and called Isto. Just now, as a matter of fact. He's on his way to help out. I know he's married and I shouldn't be dragging him away and whatnot...but we need -someone- healthy here. He NEVER gets sick... I'm actually not sure he even can. So he'll be here, and I can get some rest myself... If posts are scarce for a while, you'll know why... Toodles.

Acia's better, and not a moment too soon, I'd say. Any longer and I'm sure she would have gone mad from staying in bed. But, she's not crazy (I think), and she's healthy again, so all's well. Everyone's healthy again. I'm healthy again! I hate getting sick... Isto's been such a big help. He's going to head back to X's tomorrow, I think, but he's stayed a couple of days just to make sure everything's back on track.
There's really not much to say otherwise. Everyone's been sick, so we haven't done much. As soon as Acia was proclaimed 'well', she charged back to the labs to continue work on her project. I have to say, I don't think she'll finish anytime soon. The concept is good, but it's far too advanced for even that glider as she is. But.... well, who knows?
She is trying, at least, and she seems to think it'll work. She's not just randomly putting things together either. She's taken apart various heating units (Isto 'found' them for her while she was sick. I don't want to know where.) and seems to have a good idea of how they work, because, well, they're fairly simple. But most of the same methods would cook Isto from the inside out if used, so they're not an option.
Well, she's trying. Mayhaps she'll have it done by Christmas. Personally, I doubt it, but, eh... we can hope, right?

"I didn't finish soon enough.... I...didn't...finish...." A long pause, then a sigh; "Isto got in a wreck yesterday on his way back to X's... His arm gave out from the cold, and he crashed... Wouldn't have if I had finished sooner... Don't think I'll be able to... Gonna try, though... Mayhaps it'll make Isto better...."

"It worked! It WORKED! I can't believe it actually did, simple as it was, but it DID, log! It did! See, I figure out why it wasn't working before. I was trying to -heat- the metal, when all it really needed was something to get it working again. Then it could fix itself!
"So I thought about it, tried a few things. It was Moo who finally gave me the idea. The battery in the hovercraft had died, and Moo had to use Lenta's car and some jumper cables to restart it. It worked for the car, so why not for Isto?
"Well....yeah, Isto's not a car, but that's not the point. He runs on electricity, and the cold stilled that power, so a new current should restart it.
"And, that's basically what I did. You know those machines that zap people to restart their hearts? I just rewired one a bit, changed the pads to little clamps, and altered the settings to lighten the shock and such. Moo had one in the first-aid kit of her plane, just in case, if you were wondering where I got one. It really wasn't hard to do. I wish I'd thought of it sooner.
"I didn't really have anything to test it on, so I went straight to Isto. He was starting to get better, but he kept having constant hot and cold flashes. Poor guy, he had a really, really bad fever, log. Moo was all worried about him. Me too..." She trailed off, pausing at the memory, then continued, once again cheerful.
"We unhooked some of the wires in his shoulder and clamped the shocker thingy to that. Isto hardly felt the first shock, so I went back in and altered it to be stronger again. He felt the second shock, and the hotflashes soon stopped, but he said he still felt really cold. He and Moo talked for a bit, then Moo and I went home...
"And then today we went back, and he was better, log! His fever was almost completely gone, and he was up and about and-- Oh, we were so happy, log! It's scary seeing Isto sick... Moo said he hadn't been that bad since the in....incident? incident with the lightning. I don't know what she meant by that, so I'm gonna ask Isto next time I see him.
"And... That's really all I have to talk about. I've been so busy trying to help Isto that I haven't had time for anything else. Hmm... I'ma see if I can talk Moo into goin' out for a fly. The plane seems lonely. Bye, log!"

Sunday, December 12th, 2004 (RP Taken from Adroi's log.)
"Trust the engine to give out while we're in the middle of no where. I told you the plane still needed a few repairs, but would you listen to me? Noooo.... We are completely lost," Moo stated matter-of-factly. She sighed, staring around at the lush tropical forest surrounding. It really was a beautiful place...but that wasn't the point. "I feel like Gilligan," she sulked.
"At least it was a good landing," came the cheerful reply from somewhere overhead. "It could have been much, much worse, ya know. Ya hardly broke the CD at all."
Talking to Acia, Moo mused, was like talking to oneself. Or, more specifically, talking to absolutely anything and everything around you. "Could you come where I can see you? We don't have the supplies to fix the CD--" she paused, blinking. Aha, Acia was getting to her. It couldn't be 'the plane' anymore, it had to be the CD, the crop duster. Rolling her eyes, Moo continued, "Nor the tools. These islands are owned by some fancy rich guy anyway, so their must be some kind of house, aye? Fancy rich guys build houses everywhere."
"Oh, it's right ahead." The glider anthro suddenly dove down to hover in front of her caretaker, cocking her head curiously. Throwing a mock bow, she swept an arm in the direction they had been walking. "I saw it ages ago. You shoulda said somethin', 'cause we've been walking in circles for the past two hours. I--wait for me!"
Moo obligingly paused in step, snatched the glider out of the air, and deposited Acia on her shoulder, then immediately continued walking. Sure enough, within a short while the estate came into view. "See, toldja they build houses everywhere," Moo murmured knowingly. But she hadn't expected it to be this...big! It looked even bigger than the House... though that may have just been due to the trees...or something.
"Umm, we gonna go look?" Acia's query snapped her caretaker from her daze, and the pair reached the estate in a matter of minutes. After a moment's hesitation, Moo stepped forward and knocked on the door, then settled down to wait. ...And wait... And...yeah, there was no one home. "Err...there may be no one here. Rich people own lots of houses, aye? But they can't be in all of 'em at once."
"Then let's check the sheds!" Acia chirped, calling a gust and lifting from Moo's shoulder to dart around the house. Moo groaned, sighed, and ran after her.
The first two sheds yielded no results, though they did find some tools. Perhaps if no one was around they could borrow some to fix the plane? The pair moved on to the third shed, the door of which was opened a crack already. Moo took this to be a good sign and pushed it open a bit further, peering within. "Hellooooo...?"
Any reply was immediately silenced by a squeal from Acia. The glider darted into the shed and spun in a circle midair, pointing at the various test tubes lining the shelves. "Looklooklook, it's a LAB! This is so COOOOL!!! What ARE these!?!?--We just HAVE to get a lab like this, Moo!--Oh, they're baby...things!! Looklooklook--oops."
Abruptly the glider fell silent, blinking sheepishly at a woman working with some of the test tubes. Moo grimaced; well, at least they had found the house owner. Though she was beginning to think that wasn't such a good thing. This place could easily be the secret headquarters for some evil organization bent on world domination. It certainly looked like it, what with fetuses lining the walls.
"Eh, sorry about that," Moo murmured, pushing open the door and stepping inside. "Acia's a chemist." She paused, glanced around the room. As long as she was here, she might as well look around. If it really was a secret organization bent on world domination, they would kill her either way. "Whatcha got here?"
Because it was not a secret organization, and because that woman was in an exceptionally good mood that day, she explained: "Fetuses of various species of extinct creatures, recreated by splicing old animal DNA with human DNA."
Moo blinked.
"Ohhhh, I understand! But why?" Acia asked, cocking her head curiously at the woman. In reply, she received a cheerful, "Why not?" As that was the foundation to most of Acia's experiments, it made perfect sense.
The conversation continued, and the woman(who's name, they learned, was Sunny) volunteered to show them around the island, which they gladly accepted. When they finally repaired the CD and left the island two days later, one test tube came with them.

Tuesday, December 14th, 2004 (Taken from Adroi's log)
"Look what we got! Looook!" Acia darted through the house, calls summoning everyone who had not mastered the art of ignoring her to the living room. The resulting group was rather small: Jack, who had been there to begin with; Banda, who was too nice for his own good; Aeorin, who was exceedingly curious and annoying--moreso on both counts than even Acia--; and Jax, who had no choice in the matter.
The slam of a door signaled that Moo had made it inside, and within a few minutes she reached the living room. A small beaker was held in one hand, its contents hidden behind her fingers. Before she could speak, Acia swooped down to land on her shoulder. The glider shot a nervous glance towards the beaker, but, once assured it was safe, immediately regained her composure.
The little glider clapped to get everyone's attention, then gestured grandly towards the beaker, announcing in the calm tone she reserved for her scientific rambles: "This is Adroi. I named him. Adroi is a wonambi fetus, so he's a kind of baby snake. I'm going to research wonambis more later." She paused, flashing a cheerful smile around the room.
Everyone else blinked.
Acia continued, "Adroi is gonna live with us, and I'm gonna be his guardian, because he's a snake and my best friend's a snake, too! Moo'll help, just in case he gets bigger than me, an' so I'll still have time to work on my experime--"
Moo cut her off with a frown, one eyebrow raised. "We didn't agree to any of that. You're too young to be a guardian of anything, not to mention too small--"
"I take care of Pip well," Acia argued cheerfully. "And you're going to help, remember? Or... I'm going to help! I'll be the assistant-guardian. I will teach Adroi everything you can't teach him."
Moo frowned. Jack snickered. Yawning, the Jivvin anthro climbed to his feet, striding casually towards the pair. With practices ease, he snatched the beaker f rom Moo's hand, raising it to eye level to peer at the fetus inside. "X has one of these, though it's grown a bit. Sanura, remember? You could ask her about 'em. I think 'Cia'd be a big help."
"You're busy with Jax, Moo," Acia continued, pointing to the toddler playing on the floor. "I can help with Adroi. You know I can!"
Sighing, Moo glanced from Acia's hopeful smile to Jaxk's taunting grin and back. However, instead of replying, she turned to face Banda. "What do you think?"
Despite the fact that he was deaf, Banda had caught almost every word of the conversation. In reply to Moo's question, the small SkullMonkey simply smiled and shrugged. "Acia's smart. This'll be good for her, I think. Let her help, at least."
Acia flushed with pride at the complement, smiling her thanks to Banda before turning hopefully back to Moo. Finally, Moo nodded slightly, blocking out Acia's triumphant cheer. "Assistant only, though. At least until you're older." Acia was too busy planning to acknowledge her.

"Guess what, log! Moo an' I got stuck on an island in the middle of nowhere for almost three days! It was so cool, log! See, it wasn't just any old island. This island had a secret genetic engineering center thingy! And we got to bring one back! Umm... I'm probably not explaining well enough. Lemmestart over.
"Okay, so, remember a few days ago when I said we were gonna go flying? Well, we did. But before we left, Moo was all worried that some new parts were faulty. She tinkered with 'em a bit and we left. We flew out over the ocean for the first time, and, wow, it was SO beautiful, log! Endless blue... Sea and sky, you know? I loved it.
"We flew for a while, then the plane started making funny noises. Moo said a lot of things I won't repeat, the engine gave out, and we fell. Thankfully, the wind was already blowing pretty strong, so I was able to tilt it somewhat to help control the plane. Moo steered, and together we were able to glide to a pretty nice landing without damaging the plane too badly.
"We checked the plane over. Moo said she could fix it if we could find some tools, but... we didn't have any. So we set out to explore the island. After a while of walking, Moo realized where we were. She tried to explain how to me--something about longitude and latiude and the sun's position--but, yeah, I still have no idea what she meant. Anyways, turns out we were on a private island owned by some old rich guy.
"Moo figured, since he was rich, that the old guy'd have a mansion on the island, and somewhere in there wuld be tools. So we searched for a bit and, sure enough, there was this huge mansion place! But when we knocked, no one was home.
"Behind the house were three big shed type buildings. We went to check those for tools, and instead we found this big lab full of vials holding DNA from different extinct animals, or fetuses of those animals recreated using the DNA. We met this lady named Sunny in the lab, and she explained what everything was and what was going on. I can't remember most of the technical stuff, but that's alright, 'cause I don't think Moo understood most of it either.
"Afterwards, we explained our situation to Sunny and she let us borrow some tools from another shed to fix the plane. It took a few days, but we fixed it! I guess that's obvious, though. How could I be recording this if we didn't? So, yeah, we fixed the plane.
"When we were about to leave, Sunny took us back to the lab shed and asked if we'd like to raise one of the fetuses. Boundless, they're called. I agreed immediately. Moow as a bit hesitant 'cause our family's really big as it is, but I talked her into it. Sunny let us pick, and I chose the woonambi--it's a kind of snake, she said, and my best friend is a snake, so I figure we'll get along well.
"And... Now we're home! And I'm gonna be Adroi's 'co-guardian'... thing... 'Cause Moo says I'm too small and young to be his real one. When we got back, I made this little wagon thing out of some spare parts I found in the garage, so now I can pull Adroi--that's the snake, by the way--around with me. And I'm working on an elevator type thing so the wagon can go on the lab counters. Nearly done--it was pretty simple. Pulleys and whatnot. But I can't get the motor to make it go back down.
"Oh well. I'll work on it.
"And... That's about it for now. Buh-bye, log!"

Monday, December 20th, 2004 (Taken from Adroi's log)
"Got any twos?" Acia asked, blinking curiously at the pile of cards. The cards didn't reply. Sighing, Acia picked up a few--careful not to look at them--and placed them face down on the ground so she could see the beaker they had been propped up against. "You're not very good at Go Fish, Adroi. Maybe I should help?"
The fetus just sort of...floated.
The glider nodded cheerfully as if she understodd exactly what he was 'saying', then set down her own cards, picking up the pile of his that had been growing for some time now. While she sorted the cards, she talked. After all, she had liked being talked to as a plushie, so...this stage kinda counted as Adroi's plushie stage. So he'd like being talked to too! "Wow, you've got a lot of pairs, Adroi," Acia murmured, setting down her fourth one to come across.
"Lots and lots of pairs..." She continued a short while later, setting down the seventh. And she still had a bunch of cards to go! "Maybe I didn't explain the rules well enough...? You're supposed to set down pairs and get rid of cards. Not collect them..."
Eleven pairs later, Acia had completely finished off Adroi's hand. She stared quietly at the small pile of cards infont of the beaker, finally glancing up to the fetus itself, flashing a grin. "You won! Good job! Yahwanna play again?"
Adroi..bobbed..
Acia took that for a no. "Alright, well, I'll pick up the cards, then we can get a snack." She thought that was a good enough idea. The glider quickly gather up the cards and replaced them in their box, then picked up the box and headed for the kitchen. "I'll be back in a minute!"
A short while later, Acia returned pulling a 'wagon' laden with food for them both--orange slices, to be precise. Adroi had never tried them, and Acia loved them, so she figured he would too! Even though Moo said he would probably only eat meat for a while. But that wasn't the point.
Immediately upon entering the living room, she knew something was different. The glider's gaze quickly searched the room, finally settling where she and Adroi had been playing cards.
The beaker was gone.
Dropping her hold on the wagon, the glider ran three steps before kicking off the ground and catching herself with a breeze, shooting straight up in the air to survey the room from a height. It had to be here somewhere! She hadn't been gone long, and most of the family couldn't actually carry things! "Adroi, where'd you go?"
There was no reply. Well, she probably shouldn't have expected one. Again, Acia scanned the room, gaze searching for any sign of the beaker. A greenish strip near the couch aught her eye, and, as she watched, it disappeareded beneath it.
Curiosity aroused, the glider dipped down beside the couch, alighting on the floor and peering beneath it--only to come face to face with a snake head nearly the size of her torso. First instinct told the glider to run. FAST. In the opposite direction from this snake. Instead, she merely took a small step back, eyeing it curiously. After all, Sidney was a snake, and he was one of her best friends!
The snake didn't seem at all concerned with her. It boredly returned the glider's stare, slit eyes slowly blinking after a minutes or so. Acia blinked in reply. Wait, the snake had blinked, she thought. Normal snakes couldn't blink. They didn't have eyelids. .... "Adroi, you grew!"
The young wonambi anthro seemed to recognize his name, head tilting to the side, blinking slowly once more. He stared at Acia for a while longer, possibly pondering her as his first real meal, but soon decided against it, swiveling himself around beneath the couch and using lanky limbs to slide further beneath it.
This didn't bother Acia in the least. Positively beaming, the glider stepped back a few more paces, speaking as she went. "You stay right there, 'kay? I'ma go get Moo. She'll be so happy to see you!" Still talking about how wonderful the snake was, probably to reassure herself that he wasn't going to eat her, the glider took to the air once more, flitting off in search of her caretaker.

"He hatched, log! Or...whatever you call it when a beaker explodes and a little snake dude comesout of it Adroi hatched!
"I'm not really even sure how it hapened. See, we were playing cards (he won, log), and when the game was over I went to get a snack. When I got back, the beaker was gone! So I looked allll over the room to find it, and instead saw this green scaly thing crawl under the sofa. I went to see what it was, and it was him, log! He's here!
"I'm so proud.
"Adroi's already a lot bigger than me, though. I guess I shouldn't be surprised... Well, it won't be bad. I help take care of Jax, and he's bigger than Adroi is. 'Cept, Jax is a cat, not a snake. I like snakes.
"Anywho, I went and got Moo so she could see, and she tried to get him out from under the couch. She did, but only after her bit her arm, and then he wouldn't let go for an hour. He was just playing, though. Moo kept saying how 'lovely' the bite mark looked after he let go. Personally, I thought it a bit disgusting. It was all bruised and bloody and...yeah.
"So, um, that's about it. I'ma go now, 'cause Moo's screaming, and I think that means Adroi bit her again. Bye!"
