"They're really good!" Lucius chimed in watching the two with a smile, eating his own muffin. "Hello, I'm Lucius, and you are?" He asked the two, he'd offer his hand but it was full of muffin.

Reira was surprised for a moment as she was more or less pulled into dancing with Alturius. Also, she had never heard anyone speak quite so disapprovingly of their own mother! The quick tempo made it easy for her to keep dancing and turn to try to get a good look at the accused 'witch.' "I can't see..." she commented, spinning back to face him. "I'm sure she can't be that bad, though!"

"You take a willow switch to the arse and then tell me she's not a witch," Alturius laughed a little, trying his best to keep up with dancing with Reira. "Well to be honest, I was being a little pain in the a** when she did it, but yeah, very heavy use of the rod in that household from my mom." He chuckled. "Meh, she's just duplicitous and bitchy, but then, she's the one who says I'm going to be king, so I'm not going to argue."

Reira didn't really know what to say to that. Luckily, she was mastering the art of changing subjects. "They have some really great blueberry muffins..." she began, trailing off when she realized she'd already used that one. Then again, Alturius hadn't been around at that time, so she should be fine. "You really should try one."

"Later, once the witch-queen is gone," He chuckled again. "I am so tempted to go and see if the band can pull off a waltz, this dance is so... strange," He laughed shaking his head slowly. "They really all that good?"

"Yes," came the blunt response. She couldn't come up with anything better.
"A waltz?" she asked, a bit skeptical. "I've never danced a waltz before, I don't think..." She had some idea of how to, she'd just never actually tried. "Sounds fun. You should ask, I bet they'd try." Finally, a comfortable conversation. Reira really was quite interested in trying a more formal dance, too.

Alturius bowed and moved quickly to the band, after a long conversation, he finally managed to wear the band down to play a more formal tune. He couldn't get them to play ANYTHING good, but it worked.
He moved back to Reira and bowed, offering his hand. "May I have this dance Princess Reira?"

Reira paused for a moment, her eyes wide. The only one who ever called her 'Princess' was Tiki Jim... She didn't let it bother her, though. She smiled and offered her own hand with a slight cutsey. "You may."
The tempo was slow, the instrumentation one of a punk band, but somehow the music was captivating. She did her best to keep up with Alturius' lead.

Alturius chuckled and took her hand, putting the other on her hip he smiled and started to lead her in the waltz, smiling. "This is much better," He said with a light laugh. "So then, is the food really all that good?"

Reira blushed, caught. She couldn't flat-out lie; it was just one of those things she couldn't bring herself to do. "I didn't actually try it... But it looked delicious!" She let out a light giggle as she couldn't speak for a few seconds, concentrating on the steps. "The punch was good, though. Not too sweet." The footwork stopped for a moment and she spun, the room seeming to turn in the opposite direction as her golden hair lifted weightlessly.

Alturius smiled. "Ah, I see, well then, after this shall we go snag something to eat and drink, dancing is rather tiring work." Alturius was warring with himself, should he try to turn on his charm and woo this princess? Or save it for any of the possible six billion others that were out there. Regardless, he kept doing his waltz thing, cause that was what he was best at.

"Of course," she replied. As far as she knew, Lucius, and possibly Sol, were still near the food, so she'd be saved if the conversation dipped back into plans of becoming King of the island. Other than said conversations, Alturius was turning out to be decent company. She loved dancing, so she was having a great time for now. "Where did you learn to dance?" she asked, becoming more confident with the steps.

Alturius chuckled. "My mother made me learn when I was little, I had to practice a lot," Shaking his head he let out a weak laugh. "She said a king had to know how to dance, how to flirt, and how to convince people he was the right person to follow." Shaking his head he smiled. "She left me a lot of work to do if I'm going to take the isle, it'd have to be by force, I don't think many people want to be ruled over."

Maybe this was just one of those things Reira wasn't meant to understand, but she was certainly going to try. "Why do you want to do something that you know no one wants?" she asked, looking Alturius straight in the eyes. It just didn't make sense to her.

Alturius shrugged. "Well to be honest, I was raised being told it was my birthright, and I read some Hobbes... Basically, he says that people require a strong ruler in order to function, the isle doesn't even have a de facto ruler." He smiled. "I just like to think that I'll have the power to command people, my mom's father is Hi, the Elder, that makes her of high breeding."
