Anthony smiled as the young gryphon inspected the items. "The stone itself is supposed to be the actual item." he elaborated. "It was an interesting find..." he trailed off, watching the little gryphon intently for any signs that she would touch the piece of decorated stone. It seemed that this was when the change would occur, or so he had been informed. He didn't want to miss this as it'd be the first time he'd seen this transformation 'in the flesh' as it were.
Indeed, as Gael's beak brushed it moments later in an apparent attempt to see how it tasted, a change did seem to occur. First she seems to become less real, pale, a ghostly form of herself. She became bluish, almost glowing internally as her form started to shift and meld. It was like watching one of those strange horror films where you see humans turning into werewolves. Except in reverse. Out of the fluff and feathers emerged a soft, ghostly wisp child (( In order for Gael to progress beyond the wisp stage , I'd like you to collect the following items and bring them to me:
(The items were the content of the second letter) 2 Ribbons 1 small pouch 1 large pile of beads 1 feather from another Aerandir 1 small piece of metal or rock-ore 2 small pieces of wood A piece of string
You may get these by buying them from minishops, from other people drawing or creating them for you, or by drawing, creating or photographing them yourself (although no more than one item should be supplied by yourself.) Gael should stay close to her bonded object at all times and should not be able to speak much or touch things while she is in this form.))

Sin's jaw dropped. She had not been expecting that Gael would suddenly poof into something so - so shiny. She smiled and turned to Anthony, who looked if anything - as shocked as she was.
Gael floated near the ceiling, her bonded object on the coffee-table below her, completely bewildered. Apparently, trying to eat some things was just not a good idea. She blinked and turned over. Her new form was - well, interesting. Flight was something that she never thought possible, as Sin expressly forbid her from trying out her wings by jumping off the water barrel or the roof.
Above her, the still ceiling fan caught her eye, and she moved closer to it, intent on inspecting it's every aspect.

((Sorry for the delay, been... procrastinatin to hell))
Anthony gawped in amazement to see such a thing happen right before his eyes. He automatically started taking her measure with his mind. Oh lord, why hadn't he brought his camera! With some effort he closed his mouth, blinking once as if to clear any doubts that he was, in fact, dreaming. He ha known it would be like this, why had it surprised him so much ? "Dear God in Heaven!" he muttered.
He had done his job, now, he really should go and leave Erasin be. Indeed, he'd best write this up whilst it was still in his mind. "I'll, uh... be going now, Miss... " he paused, finally settling on "Miss". "I have to do the paperwork on this and whatnot." he explained, giving a brief nod.
As he left he half-jogged down the pth, eager to begin his report.

Sin smiled as she watched Anthony dash off in the direction of his own home, intent on documenting the events that had just taken place. It made her laugh, as it was rare for her to meet someone so dedicated to his job.
Closing the door quickly behind her, she turned to see Gael bobbing quite close to the ceiling, intent on inspecting the ceiling fan. "Gael!" She called, her voice betraying her carefully-concealed excitement. "Gael, you've grown! And you'll become... er- solid, when we get all of these items..."
Sin paused and stared at the list. It made little sense for her to collect some of the things on the list, as she had them lying around at home, but Anthony had told her that she was only able to provide one or two of the items on her own. "Well. She turned to the kitchen, and decided that it was worthwhile to try and make some food while she thought about what she was going to do.
She eyed Gael out of the corner of her eye. This was truly an interesting development. She grinned, and opened the fridge, there had to be something decent inside to cook.

Sin is in Black Chao is in Red
Chao yawned and trotted down the path, taking a breif walk through the 'streets' of Setone. Bare foot and t-shirt bearing she paused, waiting for a slightly distracted Sanar to catch back up before she headed over towards Sin's house, curious to see what her friend was up to.
Sin stood, quiet as always, staring at the whispy form of Gael. How was she supposed to get help in finding these items? She didn't even know if she could leave the house, or if Gael would just blow away.
"Sanar! San!" the gryphon had bolted down between the houses before Chao could even reach Sin's doorway.
A breif chase later and the teen was making her way back towards the house to rap against the door using her side, a squirming Sanar in her arms.
Sin leaned against the door and opened it a crack, curious as to who could be calling at this time of night. As soon as she saw that it was Chao, she reached out and pulled her friend into a tight hug. "Good god, I've needed to talk to you!" She exclaimed, ushering the two of them into the house.
Chao squeaked and poor Sanar clicked at the sudden hug, "yee gods Sin, if you were so in need of me why didn't you just come over?" Chao asked, once she'd released Sanar, who immediately began to poke around the house curiously.
"San, no tearing things apart!" she called after the gryphon then turned back to Sin.
Sin flushed. "I uh.. can't leave. Gael met Anthony for the first time... and got all whispy."
"Whispy...?" oh, hey wait, hadn't she had this explained to her? "Oh! Kiro explained this to me! Does she have an item and everything?"
Sin smiled, "Come and see." She lead the way into the living space, where Whisp!Gael was floating near the ceiling. "She won't come down..."
Chao couldn't but let out a slightly undignified 'squee' like sound, and make a small attempt to cover it with a cough. "Oh gods, so that's what a wisp looks like, hello Gael!" She called, waving to the wisp.
Attrached by the call Sanar made her way into the living area, inclining her head to see what her mother was making noise about. At the sight of Gael she clicked and ruffled her wings, she'd certainly never seen anything like that before.
The whisp decended a bit, before floating back up again.
"How long has she been like that? Did it happen when she received an item?" Chao asked, mentally reviewing the letter Kiro had sent her way.
Sanar tilted her head and clicked curiously at the floaty thing.
Sin glanced at Gael and then back to Chao, "Anthony left about twenty minutes before you got here. I've been trying to figure out the best way to get down to the community centre for help - I cannot supply all of these on my own apparently." She raised the list so that Chao could see everything that she required. She looked at Chao sideways. "You could write to your friend on the other island, maybe someone there'd be willing to help too."
"If we copied the list I could go and send it over to Kiro and ask him to post it at their lodge," Chao replied, scanning over the list curiously.
"Is there anything you could help me with?" Sin asked as Gael came closer to them, her whispy hands making grabbing motions at the paper.
"We have some ribbon, or rather, what was once of my shirts at home, and well..." Chao glanced at her unsuspecting gryphon and dropped her voice, "Sanar is a gryphon with feathers...."
Sin glanced down at Sanar, "Yes, she is... Shall I?"
"Yep, go ahead."
Sanar's eyes flicked towards the two adults questioningly and ruffled her wings, wondering why they were staring at her.
Sin reached down and ruffled the hair on the top of Sanar's head, while with the other hand she carefully selected a feather and pulled.
Sanar let out a loud click of alarm and bolted at the tug, the downy feather snapping out with a sharp pain. What was that for?!
"San! San come back it's for a good cause," Chao called.
Sin backed away quickly, not wanting her fingers to get bitten, and raised the feather up towards Gael. The whisp glowed slightly before going back to her normal blue whispy color. "I think that this'll do the trick. Do you have any ribbon on you?"
"It's at home, I'll drop it off later, 'kay?" Chao said patting the quivering Sanar who was eying Sin unhappily. She rubbed at the spot where the feather had come out and cooed soothingly until Sanar calmed down.
Sin smiled. "Would you mind taking this down to the community centre? Or staying with Gael?"
"Do you really think she'll float away?"
Sin nodded, "Paranoia, maybe I could drop by Anthony's on the way and ask him."
"Yeah, that'd be a good idea," Chao nodded her own agreement, "San and I can just hang here if you want to do that."
Sin nodded, "Alright." She grabbed her keys had dashed out the door.

--A Gift--Jizzy strode up to the small house where knew Sin to live. SHe patted her bag softly, making sure it's contents were still safe. "You glad we can help Gael and Sin, Toby?" She asked the small gryph hobbling along at her side. Tobias hooped loudly, jingling around, beads secured onto each spike on his back. He clincked slightly as he hobbled towards the house. Jizzy smiled as the reached the porch, digging into the bag. She took out a pouch and one of Tobias' feathers, placing them down with a note on the porch.

Yawning deeply, Sin opened her front door to try to aleviate the smell of burning eggs that she had just caused, quite by accident, mind you. She had been cooking them when Gael's whispy form had floated dangerously close to the open burner, which she had never been tall enough to inspect on a more regluar basis. She had been staring at the fire, something that Sin had tried very hard to keep Gael away from, as it was a sure recepie for disaster.
Gael, of course wanted to get closer to the eggs and the bright orange things under them, and had caused Sin to ignore the slightly burnt, and then burnt smell that the eggs were making.
As some of the smoke billowed out of the door, Sin glanced down and noticed that there was a small package with her's and Gael's name written on it. She opened it to find two of the items that she had been needing for Gael's growth quest. She smiled happily. These were the first items that any of her island-mates had choosen to send her, as Chao was lazy and hadn't brought over Sanar's feather yet.
She smiled slightly, and closed the door, taking the gifts inside to show Gael.

Early in the morning, some days after Jizzy's wonderous delivery of many well-needed 'quest,' as Sin was calling it, items; Sin headed down to the community centre to check her mail box. The morning was brisk and clear, not unlike many mornings on her home islands. The smell of the sea was strong and Sin thought she could taste apple pie on the wind, but she knew it was far too early in the morning for that sort of large-scale baking.
She opened her mailbox and was surprised to find the following note:
Glitterati Sin,
I know we've never met, but I live on the next island over, Cetalu. I was in the Centre there and saw your list and figured I'd ship you over some spare ribbon I had.
My Aerandir's name is Lucius, and he's a cockerel(rooster) and panther. He's already a child, and let me tell you, they seem to get even more personality overnight.
I hope these ribbon help you in Gael's journey to childhood!
~Nyxa and LucThe ribbons enclosed are very different. One, a flashy, silk concoction of green and blue. The other, a simple pink and white flowered cotton tidbit.
Sin's jaw dropped, apparently, Chao's brilliant idea to send their lists to her contact on Cetalu had paid off. She smiled, and pulled out some paper from her notebook to write a response.
Dear Nyxa and Luc -
Thanks so so much for sending along some ribbons! It was really great of you to take the time to find them for us! I'm sure that both of these ribbons will be very interesting to Gael once she gets out of her current state.
With that in mind, and, while speaking to someone who has already gone through what I am going though, I have a couple of questions. Is it okay to take a child outside while they are in whisp state? Anthony never answered me, and I'm concerned - I don't want to take Gael outside without knowing. (I really don't want her to float away.)
What was Luc's bond object? Gael's is an artefact, of an image of what looks to be an Aerandir, but there are no bird like qualities at all. I think that this has something to do with Gael's job. She's going to be a researcher, which explains a lot of her curiosity.
Gael is a mix between a stripped hyena and a secretary bird - but Luc sounds very neat! I'll be glad when Gael can talk back to me. All she does now is float, and before she just bit me. Ah, the woes of parenthood, non?
Sin and Gael
Content with her letter, Sin dropped it into the post box and headed back to her home, content to know that her questions may be answered.

Sin had been away from the community centre for a few days, wondering if perhaps, there would be some way that she would be able to not have to worry about Gael's whispy state for much longer. She had, quite accidentally, broken a necklace the other day and was now proudly the owner of a rather large pile of beads. She was quite happy with this, on top of the fact that Chao had dropped off the Feather that she'd had to assure Sanar would be used to good purposes. Sin shook her head, she now had two feathers.

She grinned slightly and opened the door of her mailbox, wondering if Nyxa had written her back. She desperately wanted to know if she could take Gael outside, as she was terrified that she would leave the door open and have the whisp float away. Inside were two letters. She smiled, and opened the first one.
The first letter, adressed in small precice handwriting that Sin recgonized wrote : Sin and Gael~
Thank you so much for the reply.
As far as taking your wisp outside goes, everyone on Cetalu here took theirs outside. They're not prone to wander far from their guardian or their bonded object. In fact, though Luc is now a very independant young fellow, when he was a wisp he was very quiet and merely followed me around.
His bonded object is a LOVELY carved bow. It's got large red gems above and below the handgrip. He carries it with him everywhere. He's a long-distance hunter and he's been spending more and more time with Osero, a grown Aerandir that inhabits a cabin not far from my own. (Osero is a fisherman but he's been teaching Luc different things from what I hear. They killed a deer the other day, ick!)
An Aerandir with no wings, you say? That does sound most odd. I thought that all Aerandir were a mixture of both bird and mammal, though perhaps my assumptions are wrong.
Keep me updated on how things are going over there. I would be interested in coming for a visit once Gael is grown into a child and settled. A picnic, perhaps?
~Nyxa and Luc
Sin smiled slightly and wondered if she should share with Nyxa, in her next letter about her suspicions with regards to the wingless Aerandir. She decided she would, because applying two heads to a problem would give Gael some good speculation for when she got a little older.
The other small package was written in a hand alien to Sin as well, but the postage said that it came from Cetalu. She opened it.
Foenixfyre There is a very small package sitting outside your door, obviously recently delivered from Cetalu. Upon opening, a piece of string falls out. It is red and green spun together and knotted at both ends. There is also a note. Quote: Sin- I heard that you needed some string for Gael to transform into Child form. Hope this helps!
She grinned. Now, she only had three items left on her list, a rock of some sort and some blocks of wood. She really hoped that there were more mysterious benifactors waiting for her in the coming days. She pulled a piece of Ar'idil paper out of her pocket, and wrote a reply to the nice person who had sent her the string.
Dear mysterious person who didn't sign their note -
I want to know your name so that Gael and I can thank you properly. Are you a guardian as well? I'm very greatful for the gift of string that you sent us, and I would love to strike up a conversation with you.
What is your Aerandir like? Is he/she already a child? What was their bond object?
Thanks so much again! Sin and Gael~!
It made her wonder why someone had been so kind as to give her a gift but choose to remain unknown. There was something - almost gallant about it, and Sin was struck with a huge sense of pride. Someone cared about Gael's future, and SHE COULD TAKE GAEL OUTSIDE!!!

Progolo Progolo strode up to Gael's home, feeling deeply awkward at this situation. He didn't even know the Aerandir, nor his owner. But now was no time to be shy, Progolo decided. This was and encouraging thought, but Progolo's social courage flailed. He left the envelope on the doorstep, glanced back at the 'hovel' guiltily, then hurried away. The envelope had a funny bulge in it it. Inside, the letter read: Quote: To Sin and Gael, I saw your note in the Ar'Idil lodge referring to Gael's required items. This piece broke off my flute recently, and I thought maybe you could use it. It consists mostly of silver, if that's of any importance to you. Congratulations on Gael's development, and I hope to someday meeting both of you in person. Good luck! Best Wishes, Progolo Dgagn #4, Ar'Idil Island Inside was a strangely shaped metal key...

With the final piece to the puzzle, sent over by a mysterious neighbor that Sin had yet to meet, she was finally ready to take all of the items, as well as Whispy!Gael, whom Nyxa informed her was perfectly safe to take outside; down to the community centre to see Anthony. Sin was frightened. She wasn't sure that she wanted Gael to grow into something new, as the current form that her child was in was just so different from what she had been before. Would Gael change that drastically again?
She was hunting for a box to put all of the stuff that she had acculmuliated on her coffee table over the last week or so. So far, she was having no luck. It wasn't that she didn't have any boxes, which she had applenty, they were all either too small or too large to fit anything logically inside of them.
After some rummaging around in her back closet and behind her house, Sin managed to uncover an old packing box from when she had originally moved to Ar'Idil. It was a little dirty, but Sin soon fixed up the empty box so that it was fit to carry with a damp spongue and some soap.
Gael, who had been inspecting the fine inner workings of Sin's computer, let her hand pass through the back of the box, curious as to what it's function was in the real world.
As Sin rummaged for the packing tape and assembled the box, the realization slowly began to dawn on Gael what the purpose of the strange square object was for. TO PUT THINGS IN! A content smile graced the whisp's face as she floated happily around, pleased that she had been able to figure just that out with very little outside work.
After putting all of the items that she had collected, still inside their various boxes and packages that they had come in, Sin stood up, and picked up Gael's bond object. "Come on Gael," She said, placing the artifact and the letter attached to it into the box as well. "let's go see Anthony.
Gael followed, but at a slower pace. What on earth would Sin want to see the strange sandy-colored man for?

Dear Journal -
Wow. It has been a small struggle to get this much written. I can barely be coherant I'm so tired. You will not believe what has happened since the last time that I had a chance to write in you!
Gael has grown into a child! She's positively adorable. Her hair is curly and just the right length to stick things in. She's still quite quiet, but at the same time, I can tell that she's getting far more comfortable with human speach.
I think she misses being able to bite people though. Or just having a beak in general. She keeps on giving me these annoyed sort of glances that I can only associate with the looks that Gael used to give me just before she took a large hunk out of my finger. Or arm. Or nose, but that was only once!
Oh! And right after Gael and Sanar grew. Oh! Did I mention that Sanar has grown too? She has a bag from Canada, which both Gael and I have agreed rocks much socks. 3nodding
I seem to not be making much sense. I'm talking like a person far younger than myself. But anyway, back to the story.
Right after the growth ritual was complete, the ground started to shake and very soon after that, Anthony ran off to try and radio the other island, trying to figure out what was happening. I tried to tell the man that I knew what was going on, having grown up on a chain of volcanic Islands myself. This was fairly normal.
And then the mountain on one of the far, uninhabited islands began to smoke.
What happened after that is a blur. I remember Gael crying and then waking up to silence. Gael was sitting over me, looking very concerned. I gathered that I had been knocked out, for there was an egg-sized lump on my forehead and my eyes were so filled with stars that it was like I was dizzy when I really wasn't. A very odd feeling, I assure you.
Gael and I went home soon after that to find that part of our wall was badly burned from the falling magma and such. It didn't take long to rebuild the wall, but I've been painting ever since.
This is a photo that Anthony gave to us soon after I returned home. Apparently, the earthquakes attached to the eruption raised a sandbar. I can't want to explore it with Gael.

The sun streamed through the kitchen window, long before anyone else on the island had awoken. Gael sat on the counter, idally fingering the beads around her waist, curious as to what their nature was. She remembered when Sin had accidentally broken the necklace - as she had been very upset. Gael guessed that it was just because she loved the necklace, in that light, she was honored that Sin was willing to donate something so special to her for a cause like Gael growing bigger.
She flexed her fingers, curious as to the nature of these new digits so unlike the paws that she had had for most of her known life. It was a bizzare feeling to have something so like a human, to be so much like Sin facinated her. She raised her hand up to touch her face. She could feel her breath coming in and out. She stopped breathing, and the feeling went away.
But her breathing had to continue, as was the case with anything living. She inhaled sharply and went back to stairing out the window. She didn't know what was so interesting about the world outside of her window, but she was facinated with the workings of the world outside of the window.
She was also hungry, but Sin wasn't up yet, and Gael had next to no idea how to cook, and she immagined that she was doomed to burn things just as much, if not more than Sin did. For, when Sin got distracted, things tended to blow up.
She hopped off of the counter, and padded silently back into the bedroom, intending to sit on Sin until she woke up and cooked food for the two of them.

Day 46~ Sin was annoyed. She could not, for the life of her, find any books that she would deem 'alright' for Gael to being to learn to read on. Reading stories to the girl was one thing, but she needed something with print bigger than newsprint for her to actually suceed with learning to read.
She resolved, at that point, to go down to the Lodge and see if there was, by any chance some books that were more child oriented. She had been simpally reading to Gael out of her own books, but the more that Sin thought about it, the more she realized that she had to get Gael something far closer to her own level.
Over the internet, she'd ordered several books, but Gael's building curiosity had made it so that Sin worried that the child would go crazy if she was not started on the learning to read process sometime in the very near future.
With a quiet sigh, Sin pushed away from her desk and wandered off to find Gael, intent on heading to the Lodge as soon as she could arrange.
