Sally had taken Rosie for a short walk. Both of them were tired of being cooped up in the pumpkin house, stranded by the rain. Even Alaera hadn't come to visit in days to provide them with some amusement. And so they had set out into the forest where they were at least somewhat protected from the torrential rains. Sally didn't think it had ever rained this long, not that she could remembered. Not even when she was still a pumpkin. Before long Sally grew tired of walking and from holding the toddler, she was getting quite heavy. She briefly wondered if the girl was going to grow soon, remembering that it had been the same with Sylvestanya. She rather hoped not, she liked taking care of the toddler, children were too independent.
The pumpkin pae searched for a place they could stop and rest and found one under the overheard of a cluster of trees. She placed the child down on the ground and warned her "Stay close." She too sat on the ground looking out - from here see could see a great expanse of a rich green field of grass. "How pretty" she commented to no one in particular.

Rosie meanwhile was exploring the new land. It was a bit soggy and muddy but she rather liked the mud. She crawled over and started playing in a great big puddle. Before long she was covered - you could barely even tell she was red!

Rain had gone out to see if he could find his brother. He was home and he very much wanted to talk with him. He found out that he was on some sort of wedding quest.
Rain ended up in the clearing by change as he was looking for the beach and became lost in the real rain.
"Oh, hello. This isn't the beach is it?" He asked the girl he found.

"Oh, hello. This isn't the beach is it?" He asked the girl he found.
[chainedfaye]
Sally looked up with a start. She wasn't used to coming across others. "Beach?" she repeated. "No, no beach here. Just trees and grass. And rain." She sighed heavily. When would it ever end? She missed tended to her gardens. And the sun.
Rosie's eyes grew big as she saw another person enter the clearing. She hadn't seen anyone other than her Mommy before! And he was pretty too! The ball of mud crawled over and clutched onto the new person's leg. "Hihi!!"
immortalmina
"The rain's got me all lost. Oh, I'm Rain...I mean my name is Rain, not that I am rain..." He never thought his name sounded odd until that moment.
Rain looked down at the toddler. He hadn't really ever been around kids. He smiled, best he could. "Oh, hi there."
Rain looked down at the toddler. He hadn't really ever been around kids. He smiled, best he could. "Oh, hi there."
[chainedfaye]
Rosie blinked? Rain? He was the Rain? She didn't understand. "Wain?" She asked looking up at him and then looking out at the rain falling just beyond the trees. She pointed there. "Wain?"
Sally smiled. "I think the rains got us all a bit lost. I've never seen it rain so much and for so long. It's nice to meet you though Rain." she laughed lightly at irony of their meeting. "I'm Sally and the clomp of mud attached to your leg is Rosie."
"Wosie Wosie!" the little girl repeated cheerfully, clapping her hands together. When she was done she clasped back onto him hugging both his legs together. He was hers now, he had to stay and play with her!
immortalmina
"With a name like mine you would think I like the rain or it was my power. But no..." Rain chuckled and made small rainbow. It was slightly solid so Rosie could touch it.
"Nice to meet both of you. So, what are you doing in the rain? Besides getting messy." He did his best smile at Rosie.

[chainedfaye]
The toddlers eyes about bulged out of her head when she saw him make a rainbow. "Pweete!" she exclaimed while leaning forward to touch it hesitantly afraid it would disappear as soon as she did. When it didn't she giggled with delight and clapped her hands excitedly, beamed up at him. She liked this new person.
Rosie crawled back over to the middle of her mud puddle and started slapping the ground, flinging mud everywhere. "Pway pway!"
Rosie crawled back over to the middle of her mud puddle and started slapping the ground, flinging mud everywhere. "Pway pway!"
Sally was quite amazed to see him create a rainbow. "How remarkable" she softly said as she looked on. "Rosie dear, I don't think the nice young gentleman wants to get muddy with you."
immortalmina
"Ah, yeah maybe not." Rain said. The rainbow then disappeared. "Oh, but I can make a slide for a few seconds or minuets. I'm really not sure how long it will last." He though that might make the kid happy. Though, he didn't know kids very well either.
[chainedfaye]
Rosie cocked her head. A slide? What was that? She looked up at him with questioning eyes, waiting to be shown.
Sally relaxed, leaned back on her elbows to watch. This guy seemed much nicer than the last she had met (well less creepy anyway) and it appeared Rosie had taken a liking to him so he must not be too bad. Idly she glanced over at the still falling rain, wishing it would slow already. She had gardening to do!
immortalmina
Rain smiled and then made a much smaller slide. Maybe this one would last longer because it was smaller. Plus, it was only a toddler who would be using it instead of a teen and adult.
"There you are. You sit up here and then slide down. Want a lift?" Rain asked her.
"There you are. You sit up here and then slide down. Want a lift?" Rain asked her.
[chainedfaye]
Rosie toddled over unsteadily nodding excitedly. She had never slided before. And on a rainbow! Rainbows were quickly started to become one of her very most favorite things in the whole wide world.
Sally smiled indulgently at the little girl. She was such a friendly little sweetheart. She was sure Rain had a new friend whether he wanted one or not. She glanced back out at the rain habitually. Was it her imagination or did it seem to be slowing somewhat?
immortalmina
Rain watched the little girl with a smile. Little ones really did know how to make someone smile. "Only thing is it doesn't last forever." And just like magic it poofed into air. "There it goes."
[chainedfaye]
Her eyes fell as the rainbow disappeared and she looked back up at him sadly. "No more 'bow? Me want 'bow back!"
Sally rose and walked to the edge of the overhanging tree branches and put her hand out. Drops of the liquid still fell upon her hand but less often. It was slowing. Turning she said to Rain " I don't think it will be much longer until the rain clears. And then maybe we can find this beach of yours. "
immortalmina
Rain looked at Rosie. "Oh, well it doesn't last for very long yet. I haven't' really learned to do it that well." He smiled half way. "It's better then before, though."
Rain too went and looked. "Oh, yeah you're right."
Rain too went and looked. "Oh, yeah you're right."
[chainedfaye]
Rosie nodded sagely though she had no idea what he was talking about. But she did understand that pretty things were special and if they were special you couldn't always have them. Instead she tugged on Rain's teal colored wings trying to lead him back to her puddle of mud. She wanted to build a mud castle and was certain her new friend would be able to help her built a magnificent one fit for any princess. Or her. She giggled happily.
Sally was actually excited to see this beach place more closely. She had seen one from a great distance while planting seeds with Ivy, but ever since then she had been a bit curious about what sort of treasures the rest of the island might hold. She still adored her garden the most but why not look around some? Maybe she could find something new she could plant.
immortalmina
"Well, it looks like someone still wants to play in the mud. Are you sure you don't want to play in the wet sand? It's like mud only...softer?" He really wasn't sure the difference, but knew there was one.
Rain walked over with her and shrugged his shoulders to Sally. He would at least humor the girl for a bit. She was only a toddler and a cute one, so why not?

[chainedfaye]
Rosie cocked her head. Sand? What was sand? It was like mud? She wanted to see!! "Wosie want pway sand!" She reached her arms up wanting to be held and taken to see this sand by her new friend.
But Sally intercepted, stepping forward to pick up the little girl from her mud bath. She got herself filthy in the process but it was only, she was sure there was enough water to wash it off, especially after all this rain. "Sorry, she's a little energetic." Sally apologized.
immortalmina
Rain would have picked her up but Sally did. In a way he was glad. He never had held a toddler before. He didn't want to hurt her or something.
"Okay, let's go and find it then." Rain began to walk back the way he came. He had to be close...how did he get lost anyway?
"Okay, let's go and find it then." Rain began to walk back the way he came. He had to be close...how did he get lost anyway?
[chainedfaye]
Sally nodded and followed him, with a smile. "Well, lead on because I certainly have no clue where we are going." The small toddler in her arms was squirming uncontrollably, wiping most of the mud off onto herself. Great now she would need a bath too. "Rosie, stop it, I can't hold onto you like this, what if I were to drop you?"
But Rosie didn't care. She didn't want to be in Sally's arms, she had wanted Rain to picked her up. She continued to struggle and started to scream "Wain Wain!"
immortalmina
Rain shurgged. Great he was lost and now he had to lead three to where he was lost from in the first place. He smiled a half smile as he began to walk. Flying might have been easier but his wings were a bit wet.
Rain kept walking as he hear his name. "Oh, um...yeah?" He asked the toddler.
Rain kept walking as he hear his name. "Oh, um...yeah?" He asked the toddler.
[chainedfaye]
Sally didn't care that he didn't do where he was going, it was just nice to finally get out and see some different landscape for a change.
Rosie finally slipped out of Sally's arms and ran stumbling over to Rain. She jumped up and down in front of him, her arms raised. "Wain up!"
immortalmina
Rain looked down at the toddler. "Alright." He then picked her up. "This good?" He asked never having held a toddler before.
"This, way I think... maybe we should fly?" He asked as he began in the direction he was pointing.
"This, way I think... maybe we should fly?" He asked as he began in the direction he was pointing.
[chainedfaye]
Rosie smiled happily and nodded, wiggling a bit around in Rain's arms to get comfy as she stuck her thumb in her mouth. Once she got comfortable, she snuggled up against his chest. As she listened to his heartbeat she started to get a bit sleepy and her eyelids began to droop.
Sally blinked. Fly? She'd never really flown before. Well, not for long periods, she had always preferred to stay closer to the earth. She wasn't sure she could even do it. But she nodded and flapped her wings experimentally anyway. "Ok. Can you fly with her in your arms like that?"
immortalmina
Rain thought about that for a moment. "Yeah, you're right best not to. I wouldn't' want to drop her or something." He thought he could make it, but he had flown with a toddler in his arms before.
"I'm sure it can't be hard to find on the ground anyway." He began to walk again.
"I'm sure it can't be hard to find on the ground anyway." He began to walk again.
[chainedfaye]
Sally blushed a bit. She hadn't meant to say they couldn't fly. She just wanted to make sure Rosie was safe. "Well, I'm not sure if it's the same beach or not, but I saw one once when I was with Ivy. It was a little it outside the forest. And the fastest way to get out of the forest is that way." She pointed in a south-east direction.
Rosie was sleeping contently in Rain's arms as they walked along, occasionally making a small noise and burrowing even deeper into his chest.
immortalmina
Rain nodded. "Well, even if it is the other beach it will lead home. All the beaches are around the lake. And that's where home is. Well, my home now anyway. Where do you live?" He asked as he walked carefully with the toddler in his arms.
[chainedfaye]
"In a pumpkin." She said simply as if that explained everything. But after a moment or two she realized how strange that probably sounded. "It's back in the forest a bit" Sally added on, feeling a bit foolish. "We were adventuring. Rosie got tired of being couped up inside by the rain. She's normally a little ball of energy, it tires me out just watching her. I don't know what's gotten into her today though. "
Rosie, blissfully unaware, continued to sleep.
immortalmina
Rain nodded. "Oh, well that's interesting. I just like in a purple tiki hut with my mom. At least for now. I lived somewhere else before." He trailed off as he didn't want to continue.
"Really? Well, at least she is sleeping now."
"Really? Well, at least she is sleeping now."
[chainedfaye]
"A purple tiki hut? That sounds like something to see!" Sally said as they broke out of the forest. She looked about, gathering her bearings, just able to see the edge of the beach in the distance. "Ah well there we are!"
immortalmina
Rain smiled as he too saw the beach. "There it is! Thanks so much. I do think the rain got me all lost." He walked over to the beach and then looked for the hut. "Now, she she wakes up she will see the sand. It is a bit muddy-like." Rain smiled.
[chainedfaye]
"Yes well it is rather strange not being guided by the sun with all these clouds blocking it." Sally sighed softly. "I do rather miss it. " She giggled somewhat as her feet sunk into the wet sand, squishing in between her toes. "Oh wow that feels strange. I'm sure Rosie will love it. I'm bet she won't want to leave!"
immortalmina
"Should I put her down?" Rain asked Sally as he looked to the little toddler. "She's sleeping." he nodded. Rain didn't want to wake her, but they were there now.
[chainedfaye]
Sally frowned. She wasn't really sure what to do... She knew the toddler would love to play in the sand but then a moment's break from the energetic girl seemed too good an opportunity to pass up. She hesitated a moment before answering. "Well...I don't see your purple tiki hut, shall we keep looking for it?"
immortalmina
Rain nodded. He knew it wouldn't be right to wake a toddler up. They needed all the sleep they could get. Maybe she'd wake up once they got there?
"Okay, let's keep going. I think this way." Rain pointed left and then began to head in that direction.
"Okay, let's keep going. I think this way." Rain pointed left and then began to head in that direction.
[chainedfaye]
Sally nodded and followed after him. The sun was just started to peek back out from behind the clouds and there was a damp coolness in the air from the rain still. It was almost like walking in the very early morning hours, one of her favorite things to do. Thinking of this reminded her of her company - she rather wished she knew what some of his favorite things were to do, it would at least give them something to talk about. But she wasn't very good at conversing, at least not with strangers. Her mind fumbled for something she hoped wasn't too awkward to talk about. "So, Rain, do you have any young ones of your own? Rosie sure seems to have taken a liking to you and you do so well with her. "
immortalmina
Rain blushed a little. "Oh, no. I haven't even been around them often. So, I don't know why she likes me." Rain chuckled softly. He was glad of it. If he did find the right someone he knew that children would be okay. "I guess I haven't found the right girl."
[chainedfaye]
"Oh" Sally replied lamely, feeling a bit embarrassed. Wanting somehow to ease the awkwardness she blurted out "Well, you're really only the second male I've ever met and I must say, this time's going a lot better than the last one!"
immortalmina
Rain smiled. "Well, I'm glad to hear that. I've had some hard times, not just with girls. Still, maybe one day I'll have a little one too!" He nodded as he looked down at the toddler in his arms.
[chainedfaye]
Rosie choose that exact moment to open her eyes, sleep still clinging to them heavily. She giggle and clapped her hands happily seeing that she already had Rain's attention. The toddler wiggled herself around to get a better view of their surroundings. Spying the gigantic puddle of water as she thought, she pointed at it, looking back up at Rain. "Wha dat?"
Sally almost sighed when the toddler woke up. There went her few quiet minutes of the day.
immortalmina
"Well, that is the lake. And we are at the beach." He said as he kicked the wet sand for the little one to notice. "Oh, and the purple building down the beach is where I am living with my mom!" He pointed as he saw it.
[chainedfaye]
Rosie's eyes grew big as she noticed the sand beneath his feet as he kicked at it. "Down down! Me want pway!" She squirmed about in his arms trying to get free.
Sally followed his pointing hand down to the bright purple speck further along the beach. She smiled - it certainly stood out even from this distance! "It looks very welcoming. And cheerful" she added with a laugh.
immortalmina
Rain set the toddler down. "There you are. Glad to see you want to play here!" He chuckled as he looked back to Sally.
"Yeah, it is very nice. I'm glad to be back there, really. My mom is also very nice." Nicer then he had thought. Rain shook his head full of his father's lies.
"Yeah, it is very nice. I'm glad to be back there, really. My mom is also very nice." Nicer then he had thought. Rain shook his head full of his father's lies.
[chainedfaye]
Rosie started scooping together as mush sand as her small little arms could gather, and began shaping it into something only her toddler mind could appreciate, humming happily as she did. This was even better than mud!!
With a sideways glance at Rain, Sally grinned widely at the girl, sitting down at on the wet sand with her. "Shall we make sand angels?" The pumpkin pae laid back and started scissoring her arms and legs back and forth. After a few moments she carefully stood back up and looked down to see her angel form left in the sand.
Rosie's eyes grew big as she saw the imprint Sally's figure had left in the sand. "Pwetty! Me want make!" The toddler immediately flung herself down and started moving her arms and legs as fast as she could, sand flying everywhere as she did so.
immortalmina
Rain watched the two making angels and it reminded him of something. "When I was little it snowed, but not on the beach. We made snowmen and sandmen. Sandmen when we were on the beach." He then made an angel as well.
[chainedfaye]
"I've never really seen it snow. It's only been a bit frosty since I've been awake. I kinda wish I could I bet it would be something to see." Sally thought for a moment before adding with a laugh. "Though with all the strange weather we've been having, snow doesn't seem as unlikely!"
Rosie giggled happily as she finished her angel and watched Rain make his. Snow? Sandmen? She looked around a bit fearfully of men made out of sand and crawled closer to Rain for protection. "Sandmen?" she asked a bit of a tremble in her lip.
immortalmina
"It was a freak snow storm. Didn't stop snowing for weeks. Then it stopped cleared up and never snowed again." Rain explained. It had been odd.
Rain smiled down to the little one. "Oh, well I don't think you should worry about them. We'd have to make one. We could just make a castle instead."
Rain smiled down to the little one. "Oh, well I don't think you should worry about them. We'd have to make one. We could just make a castle instead."
[chainedfaye]
Sally nodded. "Yeah that does seem a bit strange." She too wondered what a snowman..or sandman was.
Rosie felt better. If Rain wasn't scared of sandmen, then she wasn't either. And if you had to make them then they couldn't be all that scary. Her happy smile returned. "Otay! Cwastle"
immortalmina
Rain smiled. He sat on the sand and pulled some sand to him. "Okay, you can make it anyway you want. That's part of the fun!" He then began to move it around. "If only we had a bucket and spade. They would help."
[chainedfaye]
Sally joined the two already sitting on the ground, gathering up her own pile of sand. She started humming happily, and without thinking much began to shape her pile of sand into a pumpkin.
Rosie was grinning widely as she created a miss-mass of shapes for her castle.
immortalmina
Rain smiled as he looked at what the girls were making. "Very nice. It's like the house the Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater put his wife in." He chuckled. Rain was making your standard castle
[chainedfaye]
Sally froze and looked up at him with a confused expression. "Peter peter pumpkin eater? What in the world is that?"
Rosie looked over at Rain's castle. His was much better than hers. Annoyed at her pathetic attempt, the toddler smashed her hand down on the piles of sands that until moment early, was her sand castle. She giggled in delight and specks of sand flew everywhere. Amused, she flung her other fist down into the sand. "pwatte cak, pwatte cak!!"
immortalmina
"Oh, it's rhyme. About a man who did have a house for his wife so they live in a pumpkin shell. It's odd, but all of them really are." Rain had read a lot when he was living with his father and his father's family.
[chainedfaye]
Sally froze, her work on he sand castle forgotten. A rhyme about a person living in a pumpkin? That was strangely coincidental. "Well, its not that odd" she said slowly. "After all that's what Rosie and I live in."
Rosie was still happily flinging sand around as her arms flailed. This was fun, but the sound of her hands hitting the gritty sand below just wasn't as satisfying as the lovely "smluck" sound that mud made. An idea occurred to her and she grinned deviously. Gathering together clumps of wet sand with her tiny little fingers she formed them into a roughly shaped ball. Now...who would her victim be? She glanced back and forth between the two adults - Sally always had a fun reaction but she was too far away to really splatter good. Better go with her new friend, he was closer. She reached her arm back and flung the sand ball at him with all her might (which admittedly wasn't much). She giggled madly.
immortalmina
Rain looked at Sally with a surprised look. "Really? Hummm... Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater had a wife and couldn't keep her. Put in a pumpkin shell and there he kept her very well. So, where is Peter?" Rain chuckled as he was only joking.
As Rain chuckled he was hit by a sand ball on his leg. He looked over to Rosie. "Oh, my little sneak!" he winked and then made a rainbow ball and tossed it at her. It was soft and wouldn't hurt.
As Rain chuckled he was hit by a sand ball on his leg. He looked over to Rosie. "Oh, my little sneak!" he winked and then made a rainbow ball and tossed it at her. It was soft and wouldn't hurt.
[chainedfaye]
A blank looked crossed Sally's face for several moments. What in the world did he mean? Wait....a blush broke out over her face. "Erm...well there really isn't a Peter" she stammered out, not understanding that he was joking with her.
Rosie giggled insanely as the swirling ball of colors came towards her. It was so pretty! She tried catching it but her hands were too clumsy and the ball tumbled out of her grasp, dissappating as it did. She frowned sadly.
immortalmina
Rain smiled and winked at her. "Oh, I'm sure there will be one day." He chuckled as he was just teasing her.
"Oh, well how about this?" Rain made a small rainbow bracelet. "I hope that stays longer." He said as he tied it around Rosie's wrist. Though, he wasn't sure it would.

[chainedfaye]
The pumpkin pae just nodded blankly in response, her mind whirring away. She'd been after Alaera for who knows how long to find someone to be with. But she'd never really thought of looking for a special someone for herself. She'd always just been satisfied by her pumpkin friends and caring for first, Sylvestanya, and now Rosie. But what would happen when they would no longer needed her....?
Rosie's eyes grew huge as she looked at the bracelet. It was the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen in her whole entire life! Stumbling up from the sand, she lumbered over to Rain and threw her arms around his neck hugging him tightly. "Fank You Wain!!!"
immortalmina
Rain smiled to Sally. He only meant it as a joke. He hoped that he didn't hurt her feelings. She had Rosie. All he had was his mom. Which was nice, but not really the same.
Rain hugged the little girl back. "You are very welcome. A pretty for a pretty girl." He nodded. Hopefully it would last. He really wanted it to. Maybe that would work? It was his power after all.

[chainedfaye]
Rosie blushed at the compliment before releasing his neck and toddling over to Sally. "Mommy Mommy Wook!!" She proudly displayed to her the shimmering bracelet of colors twirling around her wrist.
Sally broke out of her reverie. Looking down at her little girl's wrist she smiled and laughed at the girl's excitement. Pulling her up into her lap she kissed the toddlers cheek and hugged her. "Well isn't that a pretty little treasure you got!" She hoped that it lasted longer than Rain's other rainbow creations, or poor Rosie would be saddened. She glanced up at Rain. "You have a wonderful way with children."
immortalmina
Rain smiled. This time it would last. Some how he knew it would. It was small anyway. That might help it out. He beamed at Sally. "Oh, well thanks. I don't know why. I don't have any and I missed my brother's kids when they were young." he scratched the back of his head. Rain never even thought about having kids, though after this it might be nice. If he found a girl anyway.
[chainedfaye]
Rosie was still admiring her pretty new bracelet. It was her most special-est treasure ever now! A thought occurred to her and she frowned slightly...Rain didn't his own special-est treasure though! Well she was the girl to fix that!
Leaving her Mommy's embrace she scurried over the sand, head down looking for something. She didn't know what, but she knew somehow that she'd find something special. She kept wandering ever closer to the taste, scrunching up her nose at the feel of the now wet sand sinking in between her toes. She rather liked it but there was no time to play now, she had work to do!
The toddler almost stepped on it before she saw it, half buried in the sand. Her eyes growing big at her discovery she clapped happily before bending over at picking it up, brushing the excess sand away. A shell! It was beautiful, scalloped shaped, with stripes of chocolate brown layered over creamy vanilla on one side, while the other had a purplish tinge that blended together with a light shade of blue-green. She liked this side the best, it was the prettiest. Holding her discovery carefully she raced back to the adults, rushing up to Rain's side as she held the little shell out. "Rain Rain! For you! Tweasur!"

Sally let the girl scramble out of her land, watching in wonder as the toddler did who knew what. But she had wandered too far away. "Rosie" she called "Come back here now! Not so far away!" She started to rise to go fetch the girl when Rosie started to come back to them herself.
