"Oof, ow..." Gaius cringed at the mental image. There were so many unseen dangers around the village, he didn't know what he'd do if he had to go without footwear. Even flip-flops at least! "Better be careful that doesn't get infected..."
He trailed along beside Marshall, glad of the company. That was something he missed, working alone in his duplex, or even out in the open. He needed more people around... He didn't know why, it just seemed safer that way.
"Hey wait, what? Winner?!" Gaius jerked around to look at Marshall. A smirk spread across his face. "Then that would be you, wouldn't it?"

"Usually? Yes. Quite. Buuutt, as you beat me in the last round AND beat the poor game system (may it rest in peace), I think that makes you the winner!" Marshall explained as the two came up on the Cafeteria. "I think Steaks and Lobsters would make a fine victory meal! Oh! And Truffles...Whatever those are. But who cares, they sound expensive!" Marshall joked as they entered the linolieum floored Cafeteria, Marshall heading over to the sweets cart, but finding his eyes wandering over towards the Sushi Bar yet again.

"Truffles?" Gaius snorted derisively. "Those things aren't worth the cost... Though lobsters on the other hand..."
He chuckled. As if anyone could buy anything here anyways. He didn't follow Marshall towards the desserts, though, instead turning towards where some of the vegetables were kept. Though the idea of being forced into vegeterianism haunted him, he figured it wasn't so bad to enjoy a little healthy greens every once in a while, right? He'd enjoyed them before the island, after all. Picking up a carrot stick, he dipped it in the ranch and crunched on it as he walked back over to Marshall. Peeking over his shoulder, he raised an eyebrow. "And just what are you planning to kill your poor teeth with today?"

"Oh, just going for the classic, like mom use to make, good ol' boy favorite today...Pie! Apple, I think. Then again any pie is good. Except for that stuff you can get at McDonalds...Did any one actually ever eat those things?" Marshall rambled, as he looked around for some ice-cream to go with his Pie.
"Y'know, I've been wondering...Have you figured out what you're turning into yet?" Marshall asked out of the blue.

Gaius was, of course, caught off guard by the sudden question. He blinked a couple times before gathering his thoughts enough to answer. "Uh, not really..."
Moving around to lean against the counter, Gaius tapped the end of the carrot stick on his lips thoughtfully. "I talked to an islander who said I smell like an herbivore, though... and my change in tastes look to support that... Other than that, though?" He shrugged. "Dunno!"

"Heh heh...Glad to know I'm not the only one then." Marshall said, opening the little compartment for frozen treats, deciding that an Ice Cream Bar was just as good as a scoop. "I'm just kinda...afraid to, y'know?" Marshall said as he headed towards an open table.

"Yeah... me too," the horse-man confessed. "Especially after seeing so many people I know changing... Losing their humanity like us..." He sighed and shrugged. "At least it's only on the outside?"
Sure, Ambrose had told him differently, but Gaius prefered to try and hope that maybe, maybe... that wasn't the case.
Finishing off the carrot stick, Gaius pushed himself off the counter. "Ah, I should probably get back to working..."

"Yeah, your chair was probably ready a good...15 rounds ago, neh? Heh..." Marshall laughed, sitting on the table instead of the chair. "You sure your hands alright? I don't want you to work yourself sick over the chairs, okay?" Marshall lectured, despite the fact he'd been walking around with a loosely-bandaged foot for fourty-eight hours.

"Don't worry," he chuckled, "I'm a grown-up, I can take care of myself! You on the other hand..." He reached off and ruffled Marshall's hair. "Remember to brush your teeth! We don't want them falling out or anything!"
He made a pass by the salad bar, grabbing another carrot before heading for the door. "Seeya later!" he waved over his shoulder.
