Rune's gaze quickly snapped the lioness as she spoke, most particularly about his mother. So she'd met her mother.. and seen him as a helpless little baby? Psh. No wonder he didn't remember her at all. He glared, to some extent, though not intentionally, for once. Perhaps just the mere thought of his mother took an impulse for glaring.

With that, however, he turned his attention back to Mafa, who had also begun to speak. Silently he scoffed, considering that Mafa had a point.

"..any heir possibilities would've been passed to my older brother, not me. Since he left it probably fell through to Ausha's rats, since he was the original clan creater. My father was running it since he was older." He grumbled in reply, meanwhile arching a brow. "So technically speaking, I'm not the heir." Runai added with a growl. He should be. Ausha was in no position to give any ruling to anyone else. But since everyone in his family had left..

Meanwhile Mafa took a few steps closer, causing an instantanious snarl and comment.

"Keep your distance."

Safi didn't appreciate the dirty look Rune gave her. She hadn't done anything to deserve that, had she? This whole thing was getting old, Safi was getting bored. Even her fear of Mafa was starting to fade. She was hungry, she was thirsty, she was tired. She was getting indignant.

"You guys obviously don't need me around anymore," Safiya said flippantly. At this point, Safiya didn't care if Mafa got angry. Why would Mafa care if she left their little group? She'd probably like it better with Safi gone, anyway. Besides, she was pretty sure Rune would come to her aid if Mafa got mean. "I'm off."

And before she could let herself think about it, Safi just started walking away...making sure she kept her ears open for possible retribution.

Mafa flexed her paws, her dull nails digging into the dusty, hard ground. She was growing tired of all this talk and the lack of blood. The female moved, closing in,

"Not the heir, than what use do I have for you?"

Mafa growled, her gaze focusing on him primarily, but she was not oblivious to the lionesses actions in the mean time. She she moved to slink out, Mafa lunged after her. She'd either grab her, and do quite a number on the lioness, or suceed in driving her off, either would be fine for the moment. Rune, she'd take care of in just a moment.

EH? Safiya was LEAVING? No no no, Mafa wouldn't take to that one at all. Rune scolded the girl with a quick frown and another quiet glare.

Psh. Whatever. He didn't need her. She can just.. go mosey along and prance in a field of daisies for all he cared. Safi was a stranger to him anyway. But.. then again..

With that his attention snapped back to Mafa, who had already begun to speak again.

"What use d'you have fer.. HEY!" He yelped, making an instantanious jump at Mafa as she leapt for Safiya, who was busy wandering off away from the pair. If he missed, well.. Safi would be on her own for a few seconds if Mafa managed to catch her. Hmn. Her fault for deciding to leave so quickly.. right?

((Prance in a field of daisies? lol She probably would! XD))

The fear that had temporarily left her came back full force as she saw Mafa out of the corner of her eye. Without turning back or even thinking, Safiya's back legs launched her forward and she ran as fast as she could. Adrenaline and fear gave her speed she didn't know she had; Safi only hoped it was enough.

She kept running and didn't look back.

((EDIT: This'll be my last post. 3nodding Thanks for a nice long RP you guys. <3))

Mafa's lunge was head on, the retreating lionesses flank clear in her sight. Just as she was about to sink her fangs in, something heavy clipped her rear, sending her off target. The lioness ran off out of the alpha's reach. Instantaneously lashing out at the paw that knocked her, she whipped around, teeming to the brink with frustration.

The pale lioness, at the moment, was far in Mafa's mind, for Runai was at fault for her escape, and he'd for sure pay.

(( If y'really want to post an ending thing for Safi, Lisi, just like. Post it. =D We're going to keep going and try to wrap this up, since it's primarily between Rune and Mafa at this point. < 333 ))

Rune collided with the tail end of Mafa, which was something he was instantaniously thankful yet regretful for. As expected, Mafa turned, unfortunately not happy that she'd missed the chance at sinking her teeth into Safiya.

The adult male, however, had meanwhile taken a faceplant into the dirt, more intent previously on knocking Mafa off course, rather than his own landing. While Mafa had her eyes targeted on him, Runai was busy trying to recover from the said faceplant. Soon as he was finished with that, the male quickly scrambled to all fours, whirling in hopes to find where Mafa was.. preferably /before/ she decided he'd make a nice new item to close on.

Mafa had missed his paw, but as her vision cleared, she found the great lion with his face rubbing in the dust. Mafa was instantly over him, her fangs poised to sink into his neck as he showed it. And he did. As Rune scrambled to pull himself up, his juicy looking neck flashed into view. Mafa had merely seconds to act, to take him out, and she could work in that time frame very efficiently. But, she didn't strike. What compelled her to not end his life, she didn't know. But she had the opportunity to, she wouldn't forget that. As the lion stood, Mafa now stood before him, so close that their noses almost touched. Mafa held her ground, icy aqua eyes staring coldly into beady black ones. Her jowls curled in a snarl, but other than that, Mafa stood frozen.

Rune stared in an equal snarl, despite that his mind was racing with confusion. She had the perfect opportunity to knock him down. She'd had those few crucial seconds to at least get on top of him and shred him up a bit. But... she just stood there. Staring at him. This stupid hyena was freaking confusing.

He decided he'd test the water. If she killed him for it, so what? What exactly did he have to live for at this point? Hanging around with the hyenas and making pointless plots was all he was good for at this point, and he wasn't even very good at it.

"So what the hell're you waiting for," He commented under his breath, just low enough for the alpha in front of him to hear. "Do it," He added with a snerk. "Or are you too /weak/..?"

Testing the water may have been putting it too lightly. But he wanted to see. Rune's entire life circulated around risk. Risk and danger were his factors, and he hardly cared if his own well being was put at steak. He'd heal. He always did.

Mafa was now emitting a series of low growls. They came just insticulally from being so close to a lion. Why hadn't she killed him, she too, was wondering. Had he grown on her? Like some parasite she couldn't live without? She wanted him dead and yet... She perferred him alive. It was a jumble in her head. At his words, Mafa snapped her teeth just a millimeter or two from Rune's leathery nose,

"Weakness. That would be giving into this urge and ending you right here right now."

Rune flinched a bit at the sudden snap from Mafa.. but other than that? He stood his ground.

"So you're just going to stand there, then?" He questioned tastefully, a brow cocking in curiousity. "If that's the case then I'm leaving. Did you want me to leave? Or did you just want to keep me here? Either which way you know I'll be back," Rune stated lowly, tail flicking idoly back and forth while he spoke.

Was she seriously going to just stand there? How.. not.. like Mafa.

There was a grim satisfaction in the hyena's mind at the flinch. It was a reaction, no matter how small. And reactions to her actions are what Mafa strove for. With a scowl, she shook her head to his comments,

"In fact, I don't plan to stand here all day. Can't get rid of you just yet."

With that, Mafa smirked, and backed away from Rune. She wouldn't let him have the satisfaction of the first move in this little face off. She didn't let her back face him until she was a good distance away, her paws skillfully manuvering over bones and other obstacles as she walked backwards. Before turning and running off, her eyes locked with Rune's in the distance, tossing her head as she sent his way an eerie looking smile. With that, she turned, and leisurely trotted back to her side of the wasteland.

Rune scoffed. He was looking for a little bit of action and failed. Damn.

So there he stood, looking dumbfounded and ticked for several moments before he also turned and began to meander back towards the Maziko territory of the graveyard, although he couldn't help but wonder what exactly Safiya would do if she ever found him again. Probably kick him for putting her in that sort of situation. Hmph.

Either which way, no one was injured, everyone was safe. Psh. Boring. Silently Runai slinked off in the direction of his little.. 'den', contemplating his next visit into the hyena territory.
