Woah...lucky i can run... This young girl dragged her through countless trees at a pace she had only ever reached on horse back. "how far is it?" she called out.

"Not far." Kerry hollered back cheerfully. And she was true to her word, not three minutes later did they arrive at a waterfall. It was breathtaking. At least a hundred feet high with many tiers making the water splash and spray on it's way down the cliff face. The trees and underbrush added to the sight, leaves glistening in the noonday sun. The fall ended in a large lake, the part closest to the fall troubled, the side Kerry and Bri stood at was still and calm, smooth as a mirror, as if the fall weren't there at all.
Kerry watched Bri's reaction with anticipation.

Bri couldn't find the words within herself to describe the sight that lay before her. Her mouth dropped open slightly and she tried to catch her breath. "lets just stay here for a while, its incredible..." she said quietly and took a step towards the pool.

Kerry still had hold on Bri's hand, and pulled her back, "It would be best not to touch the water." she said, her voice suddenly had a strained sound to it.

"what?" she replied in alarm, "why cant i touch the water?" she questioned. Her facial expressions changed from happiness to shock; what was wrong?

Kerry looked down sheepishly, "It has spirits inside that don't like to be disturbed..." she looked past Bri to the waterfall, "But you can touch the other side, where the fall goes, they don't like it over there."

A awve of fear washed through Bri with that point of conversation and smiled weakly before removing her cloak and resting it on a nearby rock. "how did you find this place? Its incredible." she said quietly to Kerry, "and how do you know about these spirits?"

"I touched the water... a long time ago." Kerry's voice trailled off. Bri knew there was more to the story, but Kerry's mind was strangely blocked from her, closed.

Bri went to respond, but came to a loss of words and took a step closer to Kerry, and gave her a slight touch on the arm. With a kind smile, she continued to remove her woolen cloak and set her bow on the forest floor. "this is still incredible..." she said in an attempt to make conversation.

Kerry nodded, "It is..." She trailed off, a thoughtful frown on her young face. Then she turned back to look the way they came, "Smoke?" she asked, mostly to herself. She sniffed at the air and caught the faint scent again. She paled as she saw the direction the smoke was coming from and dashed off.

"kerry!" bri called and started to run after her, lengths away from her heels, she picked up on the smoke Kerry was after. Breathing in and out faster with every stride, she caught up with kerry and puller her back, "what is it?"

Kerry tried to knock Bri's hand away and keep running, "The fire..." she got out before she slipped out of Bri's grasp and kept running. It became apparent that the fire was larger than they had originally thought. Smoke billowed from the site that Kerry was running to, calling in different animal languages for the creatures that she lived with. There were no replies, or if there were, Bri couldn't hear them. Kerry finally stopped when she could see some flames through the smoke, fell to her knees and started to cry.

Bri watched, her mouth ajar in shock as well as sympathy, as Kerry hit the ground and tears began to fall. Bri took a step closer and bent to the ground beside her, she didnt know what she could do. "is this where you lived?" she asked quietly feeling the sting of tears behind her eyes.

Tears continued to stream down the girl's young face as she nodded. She wiped them away with a swipe of her arm and stood, her purple eyes blazing through the tears. "Whoever did this will not get away with it." her voice was surprisingly hard, and perfectly believable.

Bri didnt even know how to react. Kerry seemed to be empowered by seeing this sight fall before her. She handed a cotton sash to Kerry for her face, "here, take this" she said not knowing what else to say.
