The feline simply smiled, watching him with a tender, affectionate gaze. His words always seemed to effect her in such a sweet way, each time was different than the last, but all just as blissful. "I promise. I'll go treat it now, while you pick what you want on your cake," she said softly, slowly moving in the direction of the bathroom.

His gaze followed her before Byakko moved over to stare at the different toppings. Already he picked out a lovely vanilla frosting and began to spread it across the cake. However, he was not paying much attention to his work as he kept leaning to keep an eye out for her.

Inside the bathroom behind the shut door, Raelen growled lightly at the pain surging through her finger. It stung and throbbed, she could even feel her heartbeat in the very tip of it where it had been burnt. Putting a few different medications on it, she wrapped her finger up in some gauze she had kept from when she lived with her family. Sighing, she leaned against the sink and shook her head, frowning in herself in the mirror for a moment. Standing back up and calming herself, she opened up the door and stepped out, walking slowly back into the kitchen to lean against a counter and watch him.

When he heard the bathroom door openned, Byakko turned back to find half the icing was leaning off the cake. He sweatdropped as he heard her approaching him, so he quickly tried to even things out which ended in kind of a mess. Finally by the time Raelen was beside him, there were crumbs and icing everywhere. "Sorry.. I kinda never iced a cake before..."

Raelen moved around him and looiked down towards the cake. Tilting her head to the side, she stared at it for a few moments before smiling up at him while shaking her head. "That's okay, we can still save it," she said lightly while evening out the icing on the cake, then adding anything else he had picked out. Moving the cake on the plate away, she cleaned up the crumbs and icing from the counter before facing the cake once more. "There, that doesn't look so bad."

Byakko moved out of the way, letting the feline work her magic. However, when she was done, he came up behind her, wrapping his arms around her and resting his head on her shoulder, sighing with relief. "What would I do without you?"

The feline blinked, and blushed lightly, gently setting her hands on his arms, leaning back against him. Closing her eyes, she began to purr softly. "I can ask the same question to you," she whispered gently before relaxing more. "Maybe we'd both be at a loss?"

Byakko kissed her shoulder sweetly and smiled lovingly at her. "Then it would seem we both need each other as much as the other does, wouldn't it?" The hawk elder seemed to be waiting for something. There was something obvious that he wasn't saying. Not just yet. His arms slipped from around the feline and he moved beside her. "What kind of cake is this?"

Raelen's velvety-furred ears twitched lightly at his words. "Yes..." she said softly, her mind wondering on what wasn't yet being said. There was something there, at the tip of her tongue, but she couldn't find the words that wanted to come out. She'd...wait, then, until she knew the right words. "One layer is vanilla, the second layer is chocolate, and with a fine vanilla frosting."

Byakko smiled. "Sounds tasty. Why don't we endulge ourselves then on some nice cake?" He carefully moved to pick up the cake. "Shall we proceed to our outdoor restaurant?" A chuckle moved passed his lips.

Smiling and giving a soft giggle, Raelen grabbed two plates and forks before turning to him with a nod of her head. "Yes we shall," she giggled out lightly before turning and walking back through the livingroom towards the back door. She set the plates down and quickly cleaned up a spot for the cake.

A spot cleared, Byakko set the dessert down among the leftovers. He smiled sat down. "I think I better let you cut the cake since I've already messed it up once enough for today." The blue male chuckled lightly but beamed. He could make fun of himself.

Raelen laughed softly and quickly cut the cake into even pieces. Sitting down, she got herself a small piece and began to eat it while smiling at him every so often. The feline quickly finished with her piece of cake, and began to gather up dirty dishes, just to get them ready. "How did you like tonight...?"

Byakko had followed suit, grabbing a rather large piece for himself. But it was quickly finished and when she began to take the dirty dishes, Byakko rose, and helped by grabbing as many as he could. "It was a most wonderful evening, Raelen. Thank you." A bright smile on his face.
