Does the number of the date stay the same for the different years, therefore running in the same 12 year cycle? question

Well yes there is a cycle of sorts but because the new year lasts about fifteen days it's rather hard to see the cycle, also because of leap years and such. But for the most part it is a cycle. However twelve years from now, the next time the year of the pig comes, in 2019 the new year will be on February 5th. (just a little FF for ya)

Just info about the Chinese New Year that I may have gotten wrong or you don't quite understand.

Chinese New Year starts on the first day of the new year containing a new moon and ends on the Lantern Festival fourteen days later. Some say there is a New Years Eve, thus the fifteenth day is added. Chinese New Year falls on different dates each year, a date between January 21 and February 20. This means that the holiday usually falls on the second (very rarely third) new moon after the winter solstice.
