Geneva picked up the small bunch of berries. "Lelias berries, from the marshes. They let whoever eats them - a fourth of a berry is all that is needed - to see the motivations of others and to speak in different tongues for up to half a day. It reveals the true self of any you come across. It can... cause altercations with caravan members, if you end up being unable to trust them. I would use it sparingly."

Having gone along with Leshya'e to see all the other traders, Anezka was getting quite used to the drill. Her eyes scanned over what the others were holding as they left, thinking to herself "No tri-rune...just bottles...just a belt...no tri-rune..." She wandered up to the odd-looking traders table with Leshya'e. Her large ears tuned in and eaves-dropped on the conversation the woman was having with Marissa. Hearing that the berries were of no importance to her, she quickly began to search the table for a piece of her Tri-Rune, or something that may deal with the protectorate. Noticing the bottle with wings, Anezka quickly yanked on her mother's skirt, "Mum...Hey Mum...Ask that lady what that is...It's got wings on it, Mum...Maybe it means something...Hey, Ask her!" Her golden eyes went big as she shook Shy's skirt and pointed to the bottle, hopping slightly.

But Shy didn't need to ask - Geneva had heard Anezka's joyful, curious bubblings, and turned her attention to the pair. "That," she said, "is Icarus Dust. Have you ever heard of something called the Protectorate? It's a powder that's linked to a piece of the tri-rune. If mixed with food, it will show you the location of a piece."

Slamming her hands on the table, Aneka starred at Geneva as if she had just said that the bottle contained the entire universe. "What!?...What!?..." Her mouth hung open for a moment before she realized how completely rude she was probably being precieved as being. "That stuff can help me get another piece?...Mum...I need that...we gotta get that...How much is that, can we get that? Mum, we've got to get that...That bottle is meant for me!" She brought her hands up from the table, first placing them over her heart and then over her face.
Taking over the business end of the trading, Leshya'e looked up at Geneva and smiled, bowing her head and shrugging slightly in a quiet apology for Anezka excited outburst. "About how much would that cost?" She would do whatever it took and pay whatever it cost to help her daughter with her dream...but her gypsy roots still held strong and the girl loved to haggle.

"One hundred and seventy-five. Steep, yes, but this is hard to get ahold of. And what's more, pieces are hard to come by."
She raised a brow, sitting back on her stool. "Still interested?" She wondered how the gypsy would cope - her love for her bubbling obsessed daughter and her gypsy blood had to be at war right now.

Leshya'e put one hand on her pouch and brought the other to her neck, rubbing it a bit as she thought. She had enough couplets on her to pay without haggling..but what if another trader came along with something else they would need? What about food? Biting her lip and then sighing, She glanced down at Anezka and then at Geneva, "Would you mind lowering that to...perhaps 125 couplets?"

"I'll go no lower than one hundred and fifty."
Ah, so there WOULD be haggling. "But I maintain that its true worth is greater."

Marissa reached forward and touched the berries, contemplating their powers. There was no doubt in her mind that it would be a useful tool- being able to know one's exact thoughts at any time, and discover a fraud in the act. And yet...it seemed so similar to...puppeteering...
Though, when she rested her hand on her son's cold candle form, the risks seemed to pale in comparison to the benefits. Speaking tounges, there was a useful something.
She took a breath. "And how much?" she asked.

"Fifty couplets," Geneva said, smiling beneath her wraps. She'd had a hard time selling these berries - she supposed, in general, people were too afraid to try them. Learning the inner hearts of people could be a disturbing thing.
She should know. She'd tried them before.
Hopefully, the woman in front of her would have the fortitude to deal with what she saw. If not... well.

Marissa smiled a very small smile. "Only 50? You must be trying to get rid of these," she joked, knowing full well that it was no such thing.
"Done." The gypsy wondered if she was making a mistake.

Geneva smiled and took the couplets, then extracted a piece of cloth and wrapped the berries in it. As she handed the little package to Marissa, she met her eyes.
"I promise the cloth is safe," she said, gesturing to her skin. "What I have isn't transmitable. I suggest you keep the berries covered as much as you can, though. Exposure to sun and, especially, errant strands of meij, can alter the berries' effects... often times for the worst.
"Remember, only eat a fourth of a berry at a time. And only eat it on a full stomach. Store the berries, carefully wrapped, in a cool dark place and, even cut, they should last for a long time."

Elysia Kavanagh "I'll go no lower than one hundred and fifty."
Ah, so there WOULD be haggling. "But I maintain that its true worth is greater." Leshya'e clinked her pouch againt her hips and did some counting. That...well...that would leave us with 100 couplets?...That...that's alright...And Anezka really wants and needs this... Inhaling sharply, she nodded and reached into her pouch and began to count out her couplets, "one hundred and fifty it is then...we'll take it." Counting out the proper amount, she placed the couplets in Geneva's hand.
Anezka's eyes went bright, looking up at her mother with happiness. She hopped in place and then gently reached out to pick up the beautiful winged bottle. She smiled and curtsied to Geneva, then hugged the bottle to her chest.

Geneva nodded to the two, putting her couplets into her small, elegant money box.
"It was a pleasure doing business."

"Thank you very much..." Leshya'e smiled and wrapped her arm around Anezka's shoulders, the two of them returning to Varekai.

"And so?" Em asked, having remained behind all the time the others haggled. "Might 100 be a satisfactory amount?" She moved her gold pouch to the table, and met Geneva's eyes.
