"Well you don't have to know when you're the current wold power" was probably their logic, it's BS but I can see why someone would have that mentality. We don't dwell too much on the Americans either, but we have an Canada/US relations unit which is pretty vital. Not only that, but references to American politics in the past always make their way into pop culture or movies and so we learn that way.

Yeah... we actually spent a lot of my last government talking about canada and mexico's relation to the us. What with NAFTA and all... Its sad that america has the ego it does now... things are precarious for the nation.

yeah, speaking of international affairs, I heard a rumour that there was a potential plan for a "wall" between Canada and the US like you guys built on the Mexico/US boarder. Is there any truth in that?

SO far as I know... no. Most canadians are white, unless I'm mistaken. Its harder for rich white people to have a problme with other white people. Also, Texas isn't touching Canada, so... yeah...
Still with how paranoid some people are... I wouldn't be suprised if someone tried it., SO much for NAFTA

Well actually, although caucasian is the majority, there is still a far greater level of integration of black and white people in Canada then in the U.S., at least from what I can see whenever I cross the 49th. Touché about Texas though, I definately lol'ed xd
Yeah, this whole conversation reminds me of the cartoon in Bowling for Columbine, the one done by the South Park creators.

That was a really good movie, I loved it. DId you see faranheight 9/11? that one was also good.
My mother wants to know though, is there nearly the racist setimentin Canada that america has? ALso, remember that the republicans have been making steady losses after some of the fiascos. And lastly, suposing the draft gets reinstated, would you mind if I became your long lost cousin? (My mother's mother's family came to the US through canada, so I'm not that far removed.)

No, I never saw that one, I heard it wasn't as good as Columbine and I guess I never got around to renting it.
Actually, it's totaly different. I don't know how to describe from personal experience because I'm not a racial minority so I never experience racism myself. My Uncle Bill is black (he married my mother's youngest sister) and they come to Canada to visit sometimes and my uncle says that you can immidiately feel the difference; people don't look at him funny when he's with his wife, people don't ask about the inter-racial marriage, they don't treat him any different and it's like he's just another guy. He loves coming to Canada because it's nothing like where he lives and it's not because they're poor either, he's a VP for A&E so he makes plenty more then we do, that's not the issue. It's odd that two countries that are so close can be so different on so many things.
LOL, if they reinstate the draft, I think the first thing they'll do is crack down on travelers to Canada because of the draft dodgers but if you make it through and you think that our capital is the right place to come, sure rolleyes I can give you a place to sleep.

Well, in america everybody feels racism. Even if you've never said anything yourself, you get accused and verbaly assulted as if you were a kard karying klansmen. Its sad really, no one in America knows how to let go. Just because you'r ancestors were wronged in the past dosen't mean your entitled to treat every one as being a bigot. It just produces unnecesary tension.
See, as far as the draft thing goes, if it looks like its going to receive large support, my parents are going to have me go before its actualy passed and call me back if its failed.

Really? That sounds awful. Have you ever been to Canada? You should really check us out sometime, we've got lots to offer and plenty to do and see while you're here.
Oh dear, are they actually talking about bringing back the draft?! That's frightening, I hope they don't for your sake. Well in the case that they do, I have some advice; avoid Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Our three biggest cities are the most popular among American tourists and they'll be packed.

I was oing to go to canada for a day or two on a trip to a family reunion several years back, but we ended up spending extra time in the redwoods instead. Probably not a bad trade off in the long run anyhow.
THere have been murmurs of it. I don't much picture myself near those areas though, I'd much perfer to spend my time near places with wilderness withing sight... just so long as I have electricity for my games and internet for gaia.

hey, we have wilderness everywhere, that's hardly an excuse. Hell we ARE known as the Great White North although I think there's a comma missing because while we're great, we're not white all year long. The only places you have to avoid are those three big cities I mentionanned, they're kinda like American cities that don't have as much violence or hatred...but it's still pretty bad sweatdrop
Well you're getting old enough to travel yourself, I suggest you at least try to visit your neighbours to the north sometime in the next 5ish years.

Hey, you still don't have red woods, and I love red woods. Makes me fele like a squashed fly on god's windshield, but I like that feeling.
Are you realy sure you want to send an open invitation to someone who uses Zombie as part of their name? I'd really like to see canada... but I think Japan may take priority, simply because I got conections there.

oh it doesn't matter when you get here, as long as it happens eventually. I'm dead (lol) serious, you should visit your neighbour to the north at least once.
And we may not have red woods but we have glaciers, Moose, and Tim Hortons. Trees can't compare with Tim.

ah yes "America's Wang". Fear not, I don't intend to. If I travel to the States again (I've been to quite a few hockey tournaments) I don't know where I'll go, maybe somewhere on the west coast. I dunno, I'll do it eventually. Like you, I'm afraid Japan takes priority. BLASPHEMY!! Not knowing who Tim Horton was, tsk tsk. You should have to know in order to eat their food. Hey! Listen! Read that, it should tell you everything you need to know about the guy. He's a Canadian star heart
